[Q] [Homescreen] Can't set new default launcher on B609 - Huawei Ascend P7

Hey guys,
I run on B609 and I am a participant of the official beta-program for EMUI 3.0. After getting B609 I tried to set a different launcher for as default. I cleared the default setting for Huawei Home but everytime I press the homebutton it just uses Huaweis one.
Yes I have different launchers installed (Nova, GNL) but still no change. I even tried some home-switcher-apps, but they dont work as well.
Any hints or experiences on this? More information needed? I 'll be happy to help.

Like tokkivals said, with EMUI 3 all default apps are picked through a whole different way now.

Dang, thank you. I didn't know that But sadly, at least GNL does not show up there. Trying with Nova now.
Edit: Nova shows up and is changeable - yay. GNL does not. :/ Anyway, topic solved - thanks a lot!

[Q] Change the "Home" key KFHD.

Good afternoon to you all here at XDA,
Until recent I have had no problems with any on my devices when it comes to exploiting and unlocking them but today I started to play around with my girlfriends KFHD and have now run into a few snags.
For now I would like to focus on the Home key function.
I have just installed ADW Launcher EX and after setting it all up, discovered that the home key just takes me back to the stock Kindle Home screen. Is there anyway in which I can set my home key to be default to ADW rather than stock so it will load my ADW's default screen?
Side note: I know you can use Go Launcher EX which I use with my phone but I don't fancy messing around, adding this app to the system folders and the device has a locked bootloader and not mine.
Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks for your time,
Madrox.
I believe the device needs to be rooted. So you can convert the launchers apk file to a system app.
Once it's a system app, you can set it as the default launcher and the home button will work like you want it to.

Thanks for that,
The device is rooted and everything is unlocked and ready to go apart from the Bootloader.
I have seen the /system/app approach but do not want to try it as I cant find out if it is safe on 7.2.2. I've only seen this done on earlier versions and as said device is not mine and I have no Factory Cable, I won't be trying that just yet.

I just set ADW Launcher as systam App with 7.2.2. I had to : as user app it wasn't working at all, All seems to be all right with my tablet. Only, I can' t use widgets and wallpapers - don't know why - while with 7.1.2 they worked perfectly.
Hope to be of some reassurance for you
Tested with GO Launcher EX 3.13 after reading other posts. After messing around half the day with other things, I never actually noticed this post was similar to another about Launchers so this is now a closed matter.
Like nova launcher

Google now Launcher : Quick search not working

hi Guys ,
I am having a weird problem
I have google now launcher and the Material V UI theme on my p9 .
Everything works well except the quick search on the App drawer. It cannot search any app.
For example I have the BBC app but as soon as i type B in the quick search box of the app drawer , it says no apps found and shows a link to send me to the play store
Has anyone had experience like this ? any pointers on how i could solve it ? I already tried uninstalling and re installing the Launcher and it didnt work

I had this problem too, fixed it by: Long Press home screen... Click the Google Now Launcher settings.... Click 'In Apps'.... Make sure 'Apps Names of Installed Apps' is checked. Mine was unchecked. As soon as I checked it, App searching worked again.

VIE-AL10, EMUI 5.0, NOVA Launcher

I am using the VIE-AL10 in the US and was able to remove mostly all Chinese default apps to make it like a Google phone. I have used Nova Launcher for a while and it worked perfect in EMUI 4.1.
Now randomly the "Hauwei Home" launcher will reset as the default. Anyone having this issue?

have you found a fix for this? recently rooted mine. debating on deleting the huawei launcher.
I have not. Was hoping for a Huawei update to come out and address it. Please let me know if deleting the launcher works. I didn't want to root mine but would do it in a second if it fixes this issue.

so before i looked for the huawei home app i made nova a device administrator. I forget where the setting is but its in there somewhere. i have rebooted several times and nova seems to be sticking vs the phone switching back to the huawei home.
search for device administrator you will find it. alternatively you could root and give nova root priveledges

Do you know if that is something that you need to root to be able to toggle?

Also I noticed that the Huawei home default turns on when you connect a Bluetooth device to it.

You don't need root for that. I have found a workaround. Deselect it as the current launcher then hit recents. Once you see nova hit the lock. Haven't had a problem since. Notifications still don't work right but with apex launcher they work fine.

So I've tried this on a mate 9 and p9 plus. Once done the huawei home does not come back. I'm going on about 15 hours. I think it's safe to say this forces the issue.

Still no fix for autodimm bug? (b150)

Dimming is still present while openning chrome and google email, did anyone found solution for this?
I also have this problem Im on latest firmware its so annoying b151
I can confirm that disabling the Power Genius app will stop this bug. I used to hate it and it was persistent on the Huawei launcher and Nova, but not in other launchers. I tried everything because I love Nova. Disabling that app with "Disable service" fix it :good:

It's the power genius apk. It's a system app. If you're rooted I think you can disable it. Not sure if you can without root.

Apps Running in Background and Autorun at Start-up

Hi, my P20 Pro had EMUI 9.1.
Even before the update, apps stopes running in the background and not starting at start-up.
I.e. Automate, Shpock, etc and after the 9.1 update Nova Google Companion stopped running as well.
I’ve tried Manu > Battery > App launch and changed these apps to manage manually, but no luck.
Any help /advise will be highly appreciated.

Make sure you select the options when enable manually (3 toggles).
Cheers!

Thanks for your advise.
I did select all 3 option, however it still doesn't auto start and doesn't run at the background.

The only thing I can think of is maybe an option in the app itself to start on boot. Otherwise try to reinstall the app and before running it the first time, set those options.

Check for ignore optimizations in the search bar in the settings app.
Then, find your app and click allow. This will prevent it from getting killed in the background since doze in EMUI is hard coded (i think) inside the os

I searched for optimizations and under apps>>battery optimizations I found a menu of apps that I could not find through any other way! Thanks!
