Clarification to a beginner: ROM firmware number? - Huawei Ascend P7

Hi all,
Just got myself a P7-L10, and I'm very satisfied. Being a former iOS user, I'm thrilled about customization.
However, I know practically nothing about the Android/Huawei terminology. I see that, when wanting to install a custom ROM, recovery etc, it's important to know your ROM/build number? All this b121, b60x and so on.
Can someone clarify and help me to where I can find it?
Best regards,
ner0s

Rooting

Hi, being new to the rooting aspect, can anyone point me in a good direction to start?

not quite the right place for that.
this is the HTC diamond section, and the diamond is a windows mobile device so no rooting.
and xdandroid is pre-rooted.
See I had no idea. I thought all smartphones next to the iPhone could be rooted, that in itself is valuable info so thankyou. What can you do to the diamond then to get a. New Rom on it? I've searched the forums there is just a lot I clearly have to catch up on

Bluetooth Voice Dial? Anyone!?!?!

Hey gang,
I'll admit, I'm a total noob when it comes to XDA and the whole world of Android modding in general but I have a pretty simple question to ask. Does anyone know of a WORKING Voice Dial.apk or free voice dial app that will work with a bluetooth headset? I live in Ontario Canada and it's law here that we cannot use our phone while driving unless it's with a handsfree (i.e. Bluetooth device.) Normally I wouldn't care but I'm a delivery driver by trade so this feature is EXTREMELY important to me.
I've tried several great roms and my thanks to all the devs on here for all the time and effort spent on them, but, if I don't get a working app soon or a way to port a working .apk I'll have to go back to my old phone as I can;t afford the $500 fine if I get caught. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards..
Couldn't you just use Google voice? Unless you don't have data.... the other thing is that I haven't even tried it myself, I thought I might suggest it other than that, I'll have to do some searching

Thanks for the response!! Unfotunately no Google Voice still requires you to handle the phone to start it as well as requires a subscription to actually call phones. It's kind of like skype that way. I just wish samsung hadn't excluded it from the original firmware as I really do like the phone other that that one issue. Problem is that's a REALLY big issue for me. As I said, any help is definitely appreciated.
Grr, I think Samsung finally got the voice dialing on the S2 and S3.... but I digress
Try Voice Speed Dial on the Google Play Store. It costs around $3, but it's something to start with. Reviews look OK, but I haven't tried it (too cheap to pay the moneys lol).

First of all, what your looking for is something that's not per se, allowed and tolerated by the mainstream masses and especially with your carrier.
Yes there is a an app for that, but you have to be working pretty much on the insides of Langley to obtain that sort of app. And I'm not sure if they would even warrant you to do so. Unless you'd like someone poking a gun at you....
You have a lot of barriers to consider... first is PRIVACY.. something that most and if not all people would appreciate and give to for something at the expense of it.
Second is SECURITY.... this type of app if it falls to the wrong hands.. could be use for some nasty sinister thing... so, that 2 barriers alone can give you a No GO in making or even installing it on your phone.
Third, Respect... If you want someone to know their location, then that someone might want to know yours as well...so the question is.. are you willing also to have your location known to anybody who has that app???
Sorry but keep wishing bud.. not to discourage you but you might be outta luck in getting it.
Let it be i will not attend the unknown no. Instead of getting this kinda trouble after installing the app.......... BE SAFE AND BE HAPPY

That is the best idea, since many years its choice for me, I am using Root call blocker for that.

Want to Learn Programming? Why not from MIT?

XDA Has always been a fantastic community for developers, and non developers alike. Recently, as many of you may have noticed, the gap between our esteemed developers, and our massive user base has been widening. XDA-University helps immensely to bridge that gap by allowing our users to start on the path to being developers themselves. Many of our tutorials focus on the basic aspects of theming and modifying the software on our devices. It seems, however, that there are not so many tutorials on the actual basics of programming. Why don't I just send you all to MIT to learn... For Free.
MIT has opened up the content of their courses for free on the web. Check it out here: CLICK ME!
When I look for something related to programming I often bump on MIT videos.
The last one was on skip lists
This is awesome! I've never heard of this!
I agree with you xda is the one of the best forum for the windows and android phone user.

So you don't know how to check the development section of the boards? There are a few in development but with that kind of attitude you won't get far here sir
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile app
Roms aren't even very necessary at this point.
Root, recovery, backup, xposed.
All you'll need.
Can you explain what xposed is and maybe help me install it?
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile app
Use google and you can find it yourself. This thread is offensive to all the developers on this site and demonstrates how lazy certain users can be. And by the way, if you'd only have taken the effort to look in the development threads for this device, you would've seen that there are in fact a lot of roms in development for this device, so why start a new thread to ask this? Sorry for the tone in this message, but these kind of questions really get under my skin sometimes.
