help! soft brick after updating automatic OTA Lollipop 5.0 - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I get the update yesterday in my Moto G 2014 XT1063 running kit kat 4.4.4 21.11.23 and everything was going well downloading the software, started the upgrade, but then I was left in a constant reboot, showing this http://1-ps.googleusercontent.com/h...-sin.comandos.jpg.pagespeed.ic.2BOrx-GcDd.jpg for a minute and then reboot again, for use as a reference, my bootloader is unlocked, i was root using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/guide-root-moto-g-2014-flash-custom-t2955243 but i choose "full unroot" in SuperSu App, i can go to fastboot and recovery (i got stock recovery)and i made a wipe cache factory reset and still the same reboot, please help me, thanks

If I do that, then i go to recovery, so what's next? i do factory reset and i go again to "no command" again, or im i doing it wrong?

hmm, try wiping cache and do a factory reset in the recovery menu. I got it right when I tried that few hours ago when my phone got bricked from OTA update

Hey bro, but when i apply "wipe cache partition" it restart again and it did not say "wipe cache partition complete" or something like that, just restart again, and then i do a factory and it says "complete" but when i manually restart , the same again, what else can i do?

Ok . some of your files seem to be corrupt . since your boot loader is unlocked , you Dont have to worry a lot. Do you have the stock 4.4.4 file with you ? If you do, flash that .
What I meant is , downgrade to a proper 4.4.4 KitKat .
Go completely stock, even the stock recovery and then try an OTA update to lollipop

how
tell me please where i can find a flash procedure for a xt1063 global gsm, no i dont have the stock file with me, could you tell me what it is? my last phone was a samsung so i only have odin experience, thanks for your help

How long should the 4.2.2 OTA take to flash?

Got the update through today.
Put the original recovery back in place as CM fails the install.
It's now been sat on a picture of a phone with green arrow circles above it, and a scroll bar stuck on ~30% for about an hour and a half. So I guess nothing is happening- thoughts?
*EDIT - tried turning it off. When I turned it back on, it said "Entering recovery" and is now back at the same point?

I /was/ rooted, although after it rebooted the first time and tried to update in CWM that seemed to deactivate itself. Stock ROM, yes.
I have since tried wiping cache and re-flashing stock recovery once more, but now the recovery just goes to the warning triangle rather than the green arrows, so I've probably made it worse
I can still get into fastboot ok. Can I get the OTA zip and flash it through fastboot anywhere?

I have the same problem. I tried fixing it trough flashing a firmware.zip but I think it might've been the 4.2.2 firmware zip and now my phone's proper messed up. Still boots and everything works except for camera and sd card.

I would advice trying a factory reset if you have a backup of your data to see if that helps with the issue's.
I know there are some issue's being reported when trying to update to 4.2.2 with root

I have the same problem with mine
I may just do a full wipe and start over with a new ROM. Seems as good a time as any seeing as it's buggered! Unless anyone knows where to get the OTA from and how to flash it through fastboot
I found the OTA zip on my phone this place : /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache
Impossible to flash it, it returns errors

Took a bit longer cause I had to download it over 3G instead of wifi.

Can anyone provide me with the firmware.zips for 4.1? I've accidentally flashed the 4.2 ones and need to revert to 4.1 for the OTA to work.
I'm stuck too, phone was rooted previously did I didn't reroot after the last upgrade, just flashed CWM. Flashed stock recover from ARHD, accepted OTA update, now stuck on upgrade screen. Pain in the arse, really hoping to avoid starting from scratch.

I gave up. Put Revolution Stock ROM onto a 4Gb memory stick, flashed CWM, mounted external SD and installed the zip.
To be fair, HTC Backup has restored my email accounts already. Apps downloading now.
I hard-cycled and it restarted, completed, and went to black for an extended period of time. Hard-cycled again and it completed. Terrible process feedback.
I had the same problem, it was stuck around ~25% and just didn't move. I turned mine off and held the down volume button down, but that just took it back into recovery but this time it installed. Bar is just at ~90% now.
Do you have S-OFF or S-ON?
I still had root but I recovered my recovery from clockwork to original and also relocked bootloader and remove tampered message and then did S-ON before doing the OTA.
Since writing this, my install has just finished and on the reboot now.

Hi nicelad,
Could you explain how did you get your One relocked and S-on ? Thanks
I used revone to do the relocking and then a fastboot oem writesecurelock 3 via cmd on pc to write the S-ON

[Q] My SP is now a brick. Help please!

Hi! After reading a lot of post on the Internet, I decided to install CM11. I root the SP with TowelRoot, installed CWM and create a back up, then I wipe cache, dalvick cache, and I wipe data. Everything was working fine. Now, I install CM11 from a zip, and then Google Apps, no errors were shown. I reboot the phone, and here was the problem, it shut down, but never turn on again. Even if i push the on button, it doesn't do anything. If i push vol down while I push the turn on button, i get a green light for a second, but nothing new happens. I f I do the same, but pushing vol up button, i get a blue light.
Please, Could you help me to get my phone working again?

The ROM you flashed isn't working then. If it shows a bootlogo it means that it doesnt work but if it doesnt then it means you haven't UNLOCK you bootloader which stops installation of CM ROMs. Read the guide I created here to recover: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/root-ultimate-noobs-guide-to-rooting-t2845520

the good news is: you're able to see thr green & blue light, you can flash stock rom via flashtool, but you'll lose all data
Problem solved
Thank you all for your help, finally I could solved the problem flashing the stock rom with FlashTool
There you go.
Unless you're having hardware issues, there's no such thing as a fully bricked Xperia SP.
Hey,I would like to get back to stock.

I got a similar error last week. To solve it, i put the phone in fastboot mode. Then, i flash the boot.img from cm11(at least, I think that was that) using flashtool. Doing this i finish the bootloop. Then i flashed the stock rom again, and all problems were solved.

Won't boot, stuck at Intel screen

Hi
I'm not too familiar with messing around with phones so please bear with me throughout!
Bootloader is locked and I'm running KitKat 4.4.2.
Screen froze the other day so I soft reset (Power + volume down), but it won't boot up and freezes at either the red M logo or at the Intel screen. Cleared the cache on Fastboot mode but this didn't make any difference. I have some really important photos that I'd like to keep, so I haven't cleared the user data.
Before upgrading to 4.4.2, on 4.1.2 I easily fixed this problem by flashing using RSD Lite and only having the "system signed" line in the XML code. This fixed it and I didn't lose any of my files. I'd have tried the same but have learnt that the 4.4.2 fastboot files aren't yet available.
Please help!
Thanks,
Sam

Sorry to say, but clearing userdata might be your only option. There is no way to recover data if it does not boot and the bootloader is locked.
If the bootloader were unlocked you could recover the photos via TWRP recovery. The big problem is that when you do the bootloader unlock process it erases your phone, so it won't help you now as it will erase everything.
There still isn't a 4.4.2 firmware file. We have to wait for it to be leaked, but that might never happen.

What @AGISCI is true. But if u can get to the Intel logo (part of the bootanimation) and have adb debugging enabled u could try to pull your important files from the phone. But if u don't have both adb debugging enabled than there is no chance. U could try to manually flash the system_signed from 4.1.2 firmware and see how far u can get as last resort. Hope that it boots and if possible u can extract the files.
I've got exactly the same problem today.
I have unlocked bootloader and I'm OK with erasing all data.
KitKat 4.4.2
What can I possibly do to make my phone working again? Is there any solution?
Many thanks.

With bootloader unlocked u can flash a custom recovery and wipe userdata through that. U can even wipe user data through the stock recovery if I am correct.
If that doesn't solve your problem, install a custom recovery and then restore the system partition of one of the KitKat twrp backups. And do a factory reset (data wipe) after that.
Hi everybody,
I do have the same problem with screen freezing on intel logo.
I'm ok to erase everything and I tried every options in the bootloader menu (recovery, factory,...) but it doesn't help.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Sylvain

Soft Brick / Hard Brick ? Help...

Hi, well it looks like i have probably hard bricked my phone. After updating to nougat i decided to do afresh clean install. I wanted my phone to as if i had just bought it and came with nougat/emui 5 installed. So i did a factory reset from within the settings menu. But then i thought i would completely erase everything and start from the latest build before nougat, so emui 4.1.2/ marshmallow. So after wiping all the partitions in twrp and then doing a volume up + power to do complete factory wipe followed by using the three button method to install the B130 UPDATE.APP in dload folder on my sdcard, all worked as expected. The update completed at 100% and then rebooted. So there i am waiting for my phone to boot to start the setup process as i have done dozens of times before...BUT...my phone will not boot to the initial setup wizard. It just stays stuck on the Honor logo pulsing animation for ever and ever and ever!!!!!!
So i do the volume up + power button to get to stock recovery and do factory wipe and cache wipe as well. It works as expected so i reboot and once again use the 3 button method to install the update.app on my sdcard. That works as expected and at 100% says its succeeded and reboots. Once again i wait for it to boot to the initial setup wizard but....ALAS...it stays on that DAMN pulsing Honor logo. Ive tried rebooting it several times, redoing the factory wipe and install several times, but nothing. Ive gone into fastboot mode (volume down + power) to try and flash the boot.img and system.img ive extracted from update.app but get the error message -- remote: command failed -- and the same if i try to unlock bootloader. Obviously its not going to work because my bootloader isnt unlocked and nor can i got in to developer settings to enable oem unlock and turn USB debugging on because my phone wont boot past that bloody honor logo.
The only thing i havent done yet is to use eRecovery but i dont have broadband and i doesnt seem to work over public wifi! So i will go to my friends tomorrow and use their broadband and hopefullly eRecovery will download/restore the latest firmware. The only other thing i can think of is to download the original nem-l51c432B102 that came with my phone when bought, extract the update.app file and replace the B130 i have on my sdcard dload folder at present.
Sorry for such a long post but i wanted to expalin evrything in detail to hopefully resolve my problem without going backwards and forwards with questions and answers and taking for ever.
So ANYONE and EVERYONE who managed to read the whole post, if you have even the slightest idea of how to get my phone working, please oh please share it with me. Also my phone is still under warranty so if i needed to send it to a huawei centre to get it fixed would they do it and do it for free??? because eseentialy all i did was a factory wipe/reset and install a frmware and it goes KAPUT!! thats not my fault right????!!???
Thank you to one and all for any wisdom you can share. :crying::crying:

Can you please edit your post ? Add some space, here and there if you want some help... It is nothing but pain for both eyes and mind to read you.
Onto related topic, did you manage to get your phone back to a functionnal state ? Note that the boot sequence can take time after a wipe so maybe it's not broken at all.
As for eRecovery, it never helped me to restore my device, tried on two different Wi-Fi networks after two completely unrelated issues.
Concerning warranty, I guess it depends on your country and where you bought your phone. I went to the carrier which provided me mine this morning since I ended up with a strong brick last night and I'll get a new phone in a couple of weeks.

finally a reply! okay so ill edit my post once ive finished replying to you. First off thanks for taking your time to read my post, i am most greatfull. In response to your questions, suggestions i can tell you:
i went to my friends, connected to their broadband and attempted to use eRecovey to update/restore my device. ALAS it did not work! I tried several times and it gets to downloading package from server only to end in a FAIL.. I got home tried connecting to public wifi and doing eRecovery but it just fails. So like you I have never managed to get eRecovery to work.
As for the booting sequence, as i explained before, whether i access stock recovery and wipe cache and wipe phone it does this no problem, reboots, only to get stuck on the honor logo boot animation. The same goes for installing updatte.app with three button method. it says its installed succesfully but does not get past the honor logo boot animation. Unfortunately your suggestion that it might just take a long time to boot is not the case I have left it for hours you see and it never gets to the setup wizard :crying:
As for warranty, i am in uk, bought the phone via amazon, and it was unlocked, so not from a carrier like you. So i guess ill just have to find my nearest huawei service centre and have them look at it.
Does anyone know the procedure as far as doing this. Do i phone them or email my problem and then send my phone to them or what?? Any help is very welcome.
Thanks for your time and patience.
Please, please help...i'm desperate
So sorry for my original long post people, i simply wanted to give as much detail and info as possible because being vague doesnt help anyone. It seems that might have worked against me.
Please, please any suggestions would be appreciated to the N'th degree! I have tried everything i can think of and i am truly desperate now. I dont understand why i cant get it to work...
I can go into stock recovery and wipe the cach and do factory reset and that works fine, no errors.
I can hold the 3 buttons down to install the firmware package(ive got update.app from B130 build) and that works fine, gets to 100% and says 'success' and then reboots, with no errors.
But either way the phone refuses to boot past the honor logo boot animation and ive left it for hours hoping, praying, it will work after the 32nd time...
I can access fastboot but that is useless because my bootloader is not unlocked and i cant get to developer options to enable 'usb debugging' and 'oem unlock'. So i just get error message 'remote: Command Failed' with any command i type.
But thats madness, i cant comprehend why it wont boot because everything seems to work!?!
There has to be a way to get my device functioning again.
I am pulling my hair out, i am at a complete loss, it doesn't make sense. PLEASE ANYONE ..... please help....
Thanks HONOR-able enthusiasts for any help, no matter how small! :good: :fingers-crossed:

??? hi, I.m sorry, i think you must of misread some of my post. I dont blame you, it was bloody long and confusing!
I only mentioned twrp in the very beggining to run you through the steps to my never ending being stuck on honor logo boot animation. I used TWRP to wipe all partitions and format. From there i used 3 button method to install the update.app(B130) on my sd-card. this was succesfull, no errors and rebooted. I didn't expect any problems. But as i explained it never gets past boot logo.
Obviously now, twrp has gone, i am back to stock recovery and my bootloader is locked.
*I can access stock recovery to wipe cache and wipe the phone no problem and all works with no error messages.
*I can access fastboot(bootloader) but the fastboot commands are useless because my bootloader is locked once again and i cant turn on usb debugging or oem unlock in developper options....because my phone wont boot past honor logo...
*Three button method works everytime, 100% success, no errors, reboots but guess what?? IT WONT GET PAST THAT DAMN HONOR BOOT LOGO!!!!!!!!!
Ive tried everything, but NO LUCK. I came up with this idea today though--- download theB130 rollback from nougat to MarshMallow update.zip. Extract the update.app and put that in my sd-card/dload folder and do 3 button install method.
I might even do the same with the nougat B350 just to cover all bases. So i am downloading now, gonna cross my fingers and any other body parts, pray to all the gods...and hopefully i wont be a crying, sniveling, howling piece of mess by tomorrow.
UNLESS OF COURSE SOMEONE HAS THE KNOWLEDGE I SEEK AND IS WILLING TO SHARE IT :fingers-crossed:
thanks Honor-able friends....

OK, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, try that and if this is still not working, I guess all you can do is try the same with other packages.

My Galaxy S4 active (AT&T) is bricked, tried to restore it

This is my backup phone so I don't care for the data that is on it and just want it working again. It was rooted before and I needed it unrooted in order to download an app that was blocked by root detection. I tried uninstalling the root using Super SU in its settings, when I restarted my phone it just freezes at the AT&T white screen.
I'm still able to go into the boot recovery menu, I tried putting on the I537UCUCOC7 (5.0.1) firmware found here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2629093). I downloaded it, extracted the zip, and renamed the file "update.zip" and put the file on a microSD then in the recovery boot menu I went to install from external and selected the update.zip. It sorta kinda looked like it accepted it but I get a red error message about the sideloader and I'm still stuck at the white screen when it boots.
What else can I do from here?
P.S. I already tried wiping the cache and data/factory restore options and that didnt work.
Is there anything else that can be done?
I restored my phone to 4.4.2. How can I install 5.0.1? When I search for software updates it says theres nothing available even though I know it can go to 5.0.1 cause thats what I had before it bricked.
Please share how did you restore when I only able to boot into recovery and clearing cache and factory reset does not help. Phone just stack on boot loop
