[Q] Note 4 Exynos Testers needed - Samsung Gear VR

Hi all,
I've recently created a 360 degree video and have received a couple of comments from Exynos users that the video is not running very smooth. I only have a Snapdragon Note 4 and am wondering if some of you with an Exynos Note 4 could help me out and test the video to confirm whether it works on your phones? Also, what should I tell my customers in regards to OS and firmware updates etc.? You can find a demo of the video when you follow the link to my website and go to 360° Video.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

It plays absolutely fine with 0 problems. Running UHD Lite, didn't notice a problem with it since day one.
Since it's just a video it should be quite future-proof regarding future versions of anything.
PS: Nice video

Thanks Domen, you're feedback is greatly appreciated.

nope its also not working. MX Player Pro is hands down the best player for android. its running the videos but with stutter. im sure this Exynos ****SET is the culprit here.
thats the reason why i and millions of other people like Snapdragon chipsets. they at least work great with great battery life and everything optimized. not like samsung. i might sell this crap soon getting only 3 hours of screen on time. and its just box opened brand new tablet. SAMSUNG DISAPPOINTED ME AGAIN, AND ITS THE LAST TIME I GOT SAMMY ****!

Did you try changing it from HW to SW. May help.
As far as I know Exynos doesn't support hardware rendering of 4k video (only 2.5k).
How do you know which is which?

How can you tell which chipset you have? I was told this had a 4k screen and I intend to use it soon.

So I have the Exynos Processor. How many different chipsets are there in the SM-T800? why would they make more than 1 kind under the same model? What are the main differences between them?
I know noobish but I would like to know. Thanks

We only have 2K screen... 2560x1600... if you download your videos in 2560x1440 they work flawless... 4K video will give you stutter no matter which player you use on this device... I've tried a bunch of them.

I tried playing a few 4k videos on my SM-T800 galaxy tab s 10.5 (exynos) and for every file it stutters.
I've tried MX player - but it defaults to S/W decoding since H/W decoding isn't supported. Even though the format is H/W supported (H264), it just doesn't allow H/W decoding at these resolutions.
BS Player defaults to S/W too, as it shows 'S/W' when it displays the player properties.
Is there no current solution? Do we just sit and wait for H/W support to be enabled in the near future - or is it just too hardware intensive on the Exynos that no one will bother.
Can somebody explain why you are playing 4k video`s on a 2k+ tablet, is it just to see if they play correctly, are they just clips, a full 4k movie must be a big file.
I use the free handbrake software on my notebook, to convert and movies or series mostly animi to nHD which is 640x360 if i am going to keep them on my tablet, the higher the video resolution the more power the tablet needs to use to display them, so not only are 4k video are huge, they use a lot of battery life to play.
John.
It's just to see if the device can actually play 4k, and to see if hardware encoding even makes a difference.
Given that 4k will be more prevalent in the future, it's just testing to see if it will be able to handle the larger bitrates/files.
Most of my 4k clips are only about 2-4 minutes in length.
I wish my 10.5" could play in hardware the new h.265 format, as the video files can be up to half the size of the current h.264 version for the same quality, but it cannot, so it will have to be played back in software mode, oh well you cannot have everything, maybe it will take a while for H.265 to catch on.
John.
Yes. Freezing temporarily. I can not believe that no solution. Note 3 has same cpu, I look its forum but nothing found.

Does Galaxy Note5 Play hi10p encoded files

Hi Guys,
I am interested in getting this phone and was wondering how it fares playing 10bit MKV (Blu-Ray) or other high definition content on the device. It seems like Exynos 7420 should be good for this purpose but i've yet to play with one personally.
I'd appreciate any feedback! cheers.
Nobody has tested this yet? I'll try and test it soon if I can get my hands on this device.

Galaxy J7 Sky Pro (S727VL) 60fps playback on YouTube

Whenever I play a video on YouTube at 720p 60fps, the screen blacks out after a minute or two, with the audio still playing in the background. I also had this problem on the J3 Luna Pro as well. I've asked Samsung on all of their official sites if there's a solution to this issue, but I've received no response. If there's someone out there who knows a solution to this, please let me know. Thanks. ☺

Oh man.. Thanks.. I can't appreciate enough. . Technically HDR10+ uses something called PQ which is superior to HLG used by Iphone 12 series. There are enough iphone 12 HDR video on the internet. People have tested it left & right but the same enthusiasm was not there when sammy announced HDR Recording two years ago. So I'm really curious.. Thanks a TONNN man..

The video graded beautifully. I dropped a balackmagic res 709 Lut on it . It's really good as the source image is flat . So you have more room to play with colors and contrast.

did you noticed difference between S21 and S20 ultra?
i just shoot quicly as it was freezing i you want 'ill provide you better video next time
They were very similar . Thanks a lot man. A static video of people in bright environment would be great. So that I can check the skintone. Lot of people are underestimating s21 video capabilities over iphone. This is not true. S21 also takes great video with good HDR.
ok, i just share a new video for you, please check

Question S8+ HDR10 for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video & Disney+

Hi all, about to purchase the S8+ but would like to get confirmation on how the S8+ performs on these three streaming apps. Does it deliver HDR on all three, or just full HD? Concerned as seeing Netflix forums changing woodvine levels on various tablets. Thanks!

Can't give you an answer for APV or Disney+, but the Tab S8+ does indeed support full HD playback and has Widevine Level 1. It also has support for HDR10+. I have a rooted S8+ and I enjoy full HD content on it regularly.
Thanks SavXL. And in Netflix can you watch in HDR or just full HD? Just trying make sure I'll get most out of the screen

It only shows the max resolution as full HD for me.
Side note, i do not think anyone adapted HDR10+ outside of Amazon.
The thing about HDR+ is that it is heavily supported by Samsung and Amazon, as a gimmick against DolbyVision. From what i know, which may have changed, you wont get HDR10+ from Netflix, Apple TV and Disney+.
