A conclusion you'd like to read. - Off-topic

Here's something that I want to share with everyone out there, regardless of age, gender, region, fanboys of a particular OEM or anything.
If you don't like it, you can surely leave a comment or report this. So here I begin :-
1. for the love of GOD, stop pushing out larger phones. Some phones are over 6 inches, my small asian hands need 3 seconds to traverse from its end to end. We all want a sub 4.7 inch phone with good specs. Somewhat like Xperia compact, but practically useable. We need phones, not display units in the Olympic games.
2. Samsung should change its naming strategy. WTF is samsung grand, samsung grand prime, samsung grand max, samsung grand prime max, samsung grand prime max ultra pro, samsung grand prime max ultra pro mini, samsung grand prime max ultra pro mini kitchen sink windshield wiper??
3. Sony should sell off their mobile division also and go back to manufacturing cassette walkmans, (hint: they will be ip58, ip68, ip78, ip88, ip98, ip108, ip118, ip128 certified)
4. HTC is totally lost, they need to put some "SENSE" into themselves not their phones. And why not use Boomsound speakers while they think over at it.
5. LG is like a moon. Their market shares keep on fluctuating like the moon phases. Laser auto-focus my a$$.
6. Windows, well why not put curtains on them. Lame implementation. Denim?? seriously?? Cortana is nice, i admit it, but needs a shutload of bandwidth. She can suck my duck.
7. Xiaomi, heavy UI, very pretty, similarly useless. And how the duck do you pronounce it?? Shia-wait for it-oMi??
8. Apple, well an apple a day keeps the doctor away. After all the amount you pay them, you literally don't have any money to pay the doctor after selling your entire family's kidneys, duh..!! Might as well sell your brains in the process, wait iFans don't have any.
9. Motorola, moto e,g,x were well made. Poor mans nexus. Should stick to manufacturing police walkie talkies.
10. Lenovo, clunky, feels like using windows 95, hell maybe even windows 11th century if there is any such thing.
11. MicroMax, just wait untill i break one of your service center displays and windows and smilingly say "sorry sir, its not covered in warranty, have a good day", then you'll know how we customers feel.
12. Google, Nexus 6, people think why the hell am i holding a portable TV in my hand. Can't wait for your next 1023485479 inch phone which you would say is "surprisingly pocketable", well surprisingly "duck you".
13. Nokia, such nice, much stubborn, too fail. Amaze.
Hope you enjoyed it. I just wanted to share this.
I'm not supporting or disgracing any particular company, and in no way affiliated to any of them.

Well that's hurt my brain but it's OK, your opinion...

Although I kinda of agree with you I totally disagree regarding screen sizes. I absolutely hate sub-5 in phones. Yes my Nexus 4 can be an exception but I just hate flimsy and small phones like the Galaxy S Series phones. Maybe its because I am used to 8 to 11 inch screens but its a pain typing in portrait mode with N⁴ and its really comfortable to type on a 7 inch tablet. I am waiting for the day I can get a reasonably priced 6 or 7 inched phone with reasonable specs. So far there's is no good 6 or 7 in phone that has sub $400 price and everything that's below $300 have really crappy specs.

1. No. I will never buy anything below 5.7". Just like most of the 80 million Note users. I'm woman with size 6 hands, and I can use the device with one hand.
Proper market research has indicated that most users prefer larger screens.
2. Where have you been the last 8 months? They're doing exactly that, the system is being replaced by a few lineups with easier names.
You are not the ruler of the world. There are 7.3 billion people in this world. Don't presume you to have the right to decide what everyone else wants.

Because you were pretty hostile and demanding in your first post in this thread. It's all 'must' and 'should' and 'everyone'.
For instance, 'We all want a sub 4.7 inch phone with good specs.'. Clearly, 'we all' do not. The 5.1" S5 sold 10 million units in 25 days. The 5.7" Note 3 and 4 both sold 5 million units in the first two weeks.
You are proclaiming your opinion to be that of everyone, and people tend to react rather violently to being told what to think, particularly when they disagree.
XDA is also notorious for its lousy attitude towards those who post in Off Topic with less than 10 posts. Has to do with the rules.
Perhaps English is not your first language (From the looks of it, it isn't.), in which case you may not have intended it as such. However that is how it comes across to everyone else.

It's a true monster. I'd ordered mine a few days ago, and just can't wait for it. ^~^ However, it won't receive OTAs of CyanogenMod in India because of the f*cking Micromax. >.<
It's still a good buy.

No wonder you did not include OPO because you like it. As for OTA, this is not an issue because you can always flash.

Do you own an OPO? And if you do, have you flashed CM 12 Nightly? I'm waiting for a stable version. But I guess they will provide us with their Oxygen ROM soon.
Moreover, rooting and unlocking the bootloader doesn't void the warranty!

The new batches don't have the yellow anymore. As for the crashes and hangs, you can avoid this by choosing a stable ROM. As for CM, so far so good but I still prefer other ROM though.

I got my OnePlus yesterday, and I have to say that it is a true beast. It doesn't crash, and doesn't have any yellow tint. I get approx. 1.8-2 GB RAM free on heavy usage. It doesn't heat up. And I love CM as always.
I have one word for it - "Superb"

Nexus brand Quality

For folks who have owned multiple Nexus branded products (Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7) - What can I expect in terms of quality from my first Nexus product? What have been your experiences as you moved from one Nexus product to other? I know quality can be applied at many levels, be it the product build, performance, software etc - apart from the pure GOOG experience.
Will saying that I will only buy nexus phones tell you anything about 'quality'?
Edit: And Nexus products are what google themselves use, so you know its pretty much top of the line for that moment.
Edit2: And I have had Nexus one, Nexus S, and now Galaxy Nexus.
Nexus brand or not - this tablet is made by Asus.
Look to the Asus line of recent products for an indication of quality.

300 got rave reviews, tech sites/bloggers stoked over infinity pad. even Anandtech impressed. prime had good reviews but there are some that had issues. which is expected with any device.
If Google themselves found Asus to be competent enough to build their very first Nexus tablet, that shows Google has extreme confidence in Asus. I'm not worried. I had a satisfying experience with my first ASUS product, which is the Transformer Prime. Been loving it ever since last Dec. since it was so good, I will go with Asus again on the 16gb Nexus tablet I pre ordered already. I have no doubts new Nexus 7 will be a hit. Reviewers already said the build quality is superb and feels high end. then we know the software and chipset flies on this 7in.
all reviewers so far said this device feels and performs like a high end one. even the display is really good with high dpi count.

Of course not, but these being branded as Nexus and GOOG using multiple manufacturers when they release these devices, you as an owner of these various products would be able to pin point about "quality" - or the differentiator from other products (apart from pure GOOG experience)?
No?

Any Nexus product, google works closely with the manufacture (supposedly), to give the best android experience. All my Nexus devices have worked how they should, and have been very pleased with the build quality, looks, and functionality. BUT like you said that's all subjective.
So really, the only quality you can probably go off of, is...... Nexus is what Google themselves use to develop and further the android platform..
This is tough. I own the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and Asus Transformer Prime.
The Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus were both made by Samsung, and I feel the quality of both of them were GREAT. Some complained they felt a little "plasticky," but I had no hardware problems at all with either.
The Prime...well....how do I put this....let me try it this way:
WORST. ELECTRONIC PURCHASE. OF. MY LIFE.
The problems in design (GPS didn't work b/c of the metal back and their "fix" was to remove GPS as a feature - the WiFi performance is also terrible), the low-quality hardware used (plenty of crappy displays with light bleed, LCD mura, and dead/stuck pixels), and the piss poor service (updates keep fixing one issue and breaking 3 others, RMA process that screws customers) have all left an incredibly sour taste in my mouth.
With that said, Google will be supporting this device, not Asus, so my service complaints mean nothing in regards to the Nexus 7. And I would hope that since this is Google's baby, they're keeping a close eye on it and Asus won't have a garbage design and garbage parts as a result, but we shall see.
I've had all the Google Experience Devices + all Nexus phones, build quality ranges by company. The reviews are good and Asus has been making some quality stuff as others have already mentioned.

This right here. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been great. Personally being an owner of a 201 with issues (Dead GPS , wifi/BT issues), I'm going to wait on the Asus Nexus.. their brand is tarnished to me with what I've went through with them.
My Nexus S was a phenomenal device. I loved that damn phone. I plan on going back to a Nexus phone when the next gen model comes out.

It was all because of a design decision.
I had a 201 for about a week. It didn't have all those problems. My GPS would lock 11 birds if I was outside. I had decent wifi. I just couldn't stomach their repsonse to real problems. If they had just put an RF window on the back like the infinity pad, it wouldn't have had any issues. Since it was a one piece stamped frame/back cutting and making new parts would have cost too much.
I doubt if any manufacturer will put a metal back on a tablet again.
Asus sure seems to have learned with the RF-transparent back on the Nexus 7.

I know all this already. The design decision doesn't bother me, in fact I bought it partly because of the looks. My problem is with the tablet not functioning 100% the way its supposed to compared to my other Android devices.
As for the company in general, don't even get me started, If it wasn't for me starting and maintaining a list and then sending it to the Asus product managers that check the 201 forums (and a certain user who has their ear who posted in here earlier) , at least 75 users including myself would probably still be waiting for our GPS extension kits when we signed up the first day, you can do a search of posts I created if you're interested in that whole debacle.
Main point I'm trying to make in a thread about quality, when I spend my money on a product I expect it to work. And my experience with their products has been far from what it is with my other devices.

I think you're being way too hard on Asus. Whether you believe it or not, they make amazing products. Their laptops are typically top of the line while also being cheaper than most of the competition and usually better. The original Transformer was the best tablet on the market until this year. Asus is a wonderful company. So they messed up with one device? Apparently they did try to fix it. They issued the GPS dongles to help fix the issue and apologized for the mess they created. And all I've heard from others is that they have fantastic customer service.
I'm glad that Google chose Asus to make the Nexus 7. They really were the most qualified. The original Transformer was easily the best last-generation tablet and the Infinity will be the best current-generation tablet. Google made a great choice.

Well you spend $500+ on a tablet that performs worse than my dual core devices, and deal with the problems with Asus that I have and you would probably see it differently. Sure there are those who have had positive experiences, but I know I'm not the only one with my views, just spend a little time in the other forums. In the end the choice is yours.
If I had it to do all over again, would I rather spend $250 on an N7 than $650 on my 201 and dock? Absolutely.

Hah, if you would have actually read my post you would see I'm not "bashing" them on the device alone, but their service I recieved with the product as well. It shouldn't take me over a month to get into contact with someone to fix an issue... Again, you have your views, and I have mine... and I'm simply sharing my experience with the only Asus product I've wasted my money on so others can decide whether Asus quality is something they should spend their hard earned money on.
I'm really not trying to turn this thread into a pissing match. If you like Asus, and have had a good experience with them, that's awesome. I have not. And as much as I want to jump on an N7, the manufacturer Google went with more than likely cost them my sale as well as others who feel the same way I do. Honestly if you don't like my opinion, just add me to your ignore list.

I definitely wasn't trying to start a pissing match, so I'm sorry if it seemed like I was. I'm just saying that out of all the Asus products I have heard of and/or actually used, the Prime is the only device than anyone has had a massive amount of trouble with. Otherwise, their track record is pretty much flawless.
I think for me the real selling point of this tablet is the Google name and the high visibility of the N7 launch as their entrance into the tablet market. The Nexus line is the flagship for Google and I've only ever heard good reviews from friends who own them.
I've owned devices with user bases too small to force a response on hardware issues and that's not going to be an issue here. If there is some sort of hardware or software fault, it's going to get publicity and it's going to get fixed.

4.5 million sold a month after launch (mostly sk and china)

Reports are saying they sold 4.5 million in a month (500k less than the note 3). The good news is it was released in most major markets only a week ago (thus skewing the results ). I think this will outsell the note 3 eventually inshalla:angel:
And Verizon, the largest carrier, has just started delivering today. That'll be a good bump. when added in.
Haha because note 4 is the best phablet
Note 4 rocks
I think it will cross Note 3 sales in few months
The numbers will increase once Samsung finally releases it to all the carriers
I agree it Will outsell the note 3
The number sold in the UK probably about 20 the way they are carrying on.
Does anyone know what is the manufacturing cost of each device?
Tech Insights estimates the cost production to 260$ per devices.
not only sold out in the middle east but it seems the us is following the trend too

Reports are saying they sold 4.5 million in a month (500k less than the note 3). The good news is it was released in most major markets only a week ago (thus skewing the results ). I think this will outsell the note 3 eventually inshalla:angel:

Do you have shares in this company?
I don't think it wil do that well as people are getting fed up of plastic back and touchwiz. It lags and is one of the worst looking ui. Samsung need to get rid of touchwiz otherwise thus will lose more customers.

Totally disagree with you. Plastic back means we can have replaceable batteries. Also I replace the back with a leather Montblanc.cover which in my view is better than nasty metal. Touchviz is needed for multi tasking and S Pen which are unique to Samsung. I get great use and value from all my plastic Note devices. Just sold my HTC M8 as metal is over rated.
^^ way to go to concentrate only on your perceived weaknesses of the note 4 and ignoring the obvious improvements they brought to the table?

Come on dude seriously one if the main factors people consider before buying is speed and design and not gimmicky flawed software which perhaps a very small percentage will use. Back in the early days there was only one phablet which was the note 2 and 3 but now the consumer has more to choose from. iPhone 6 plus has taken a massive share of that market with the very successful launch of the iPhone 6 plus. They've pretty much taken the limelight from samsung. Whilst samsung was asleep and being overconfident apple were busy designing and bringing a phone based upon demand.
Carry in this way and samsung will lose more and more customers because they're not being proactive but asleep.
Also with the upcoming nexus 6 samsung will take another hit.
Wow I didn't know apple made big steps with the iPhone 6 plus that they just copied from samsung and is just an oversized iPhone 6 (yes plenty of effort there). If the note 4 took a hit no wonder it's always sold out and people are always looking to buy it

Yep. iPhone SE 32GB. Why you may ask? I will explain.
Music is important to me. The Note 8 has a very pleasing sound stage but its not good enough for me so I had the choice of purchasing a dedicated DAP or an external DAC-Amp. I choose the DAC-Amp that being the Oppo HA-2-SE.
When connected to the USB-C connection the Oppo will take command of the music players internals and use the Note 8 as the source only.
PROBLEM. The Oppo doesn't like the USB-C connections? You see the Oppo can not only replace the mobiles amplifier and DAC but also act as a battery back up to the mobile. :good:
Not with the Note 8....When connected the Note 8 charges the bloody Oppo!? :silly: At present there are only unsatisfactory work around's for this and I don't like any of them hence my buying an iPhone to use purely as the source for the Oppo.
I have joined an Apple forum and much to my absolute amazement they have a thread dedicated to the Note 8. Also other android windows mobiles. I could never see that working here. WE can't even agree on the colour of snow never alone the differences between IOS and Android. Could you imagine it?
I now own an Apple device again. Lets see how that goes. I bought it last night and have yet to remove the plastic cover as once I do that I cannot return it for a refund. God that one point alone truly pushes my buttons. I must not set myself off. the sky is blue and the sea is green.

I should send you a gift for guessing. It may well end up the iPhone SE!
I must behave myself! Stop that! (talking to myself).
You on macrumors? That forum is an absolute blast to watch, especially around release time.
I've been tempted to buy an iPhone through the years, because I write apps for iPhones. Haven't done it so far. That and just about every computing device that I own is made by Apple.

What?!? NO! not another Apple device! I really hate Apple's modern flat UI design, that's why i switched to Android, and also back to Windows!!!!!
iOS 6 and Mac OS 10.8 are the last great versions of those OSes, in my opinion. And then Google seems to be slowly going the way of the Apple, both in hardware and software.
I just wish I had the power to develop some kind of unofficial hacks to re-skin Mac OS and/or iOS with the classic skeuomorphic UI design I love, or even very good clones of those OSes as it was from those days, but with some changes.

BTW I have still not opened the iPhone SE box! It just doesn't feel right? Plus a 4" screen after the Note 8! Dare I open that box?
Just an update.
I sold the iPhone SE. Bloomin spectacular mobile, always wanted one because its one of my personal favourites in terms of design, I like the square sides. The quality was, as expected, superb and it ran like a dream. Perhaps the most accomplished 4" screen mobile around at present, certainly one of them.
Looked at the iPhone X. The screen for some reason gave me migraine as it does some others? Bought the iPhone 8 plus and though it could NEVER replace my Note 8 as my daily I do like many aspects of the iPhone 8 plus. I only have it to pair with my portable DAC-Amps and paired with Sennheiser HD650 the sound reproduction for a portable set up is hi-fi nirvana.
Not a fan of IOS, its a learning curve I guess. Phone is superbly made as is my Note 8 so now have the two! Very different mobiles both with their positives and negatives. The one big positive with the Note 8 is its completeness, it just does every thing a mini pocket PC can do and on times even better! Its the 'best' mobile I have ever owned.
BTW the Apple forum guys are gals are a very nice community who are very helpful and welcome newbies like me with open arms.

Note 8 to V30?

Hey guys, I have been using the Note 8 for 6 months now and I like the phone over all. Few things I am not finding very comfortable are it's size and the weight. And in general gotten a bit bored of the phone. So, I had been to a local store yesterday and saw the V30 here in India. And I must say I really liked it. The design, the display, the form factor and over all appeal of the phone was really good. The only poor thing was it's front camera. But I am not selfie person so I can live with it. But the wide angle rear camera is dope. I hardly use the portrait mode on the Note 8. But I used to take lot of fun pictures with my G6. So I am thinking of switching to the V30. Has anyone here done it? Or own both the phones? Need some honest opinions
If you are just EVEN considering this, my advice is that you should do it, in my case I would NEVER consider using anything less than a samsung galaxy note series device, for me, it is all about the S PEN, the most unique feature among all other devices, what makes the note series devices stand out, you see, anybody who gets a note device should consider the s pen as the #1 reason, if not, the S+ series would be the logical choice, or other good real flagship for that matter, (LG, sony, apple, google, etc)
Haha. Thanks for the advice. I haven't been able to use anything other than Samsung phones in the last 4 years. And one Major reson for that has been the display and to an extent camera. I love the Note 8 and would have not thought of switching, had I not seen the V30. The V30 is much more comfortable in the hand because of its size, weight and form factor. Also, the POLED screen is so much more better than their old LCD displays. And I even compared the Note 8 to the V30 and to my surprise I sort of liked the V30 better. And even while playing those large 4K videos, the V30 was stutter free while my Note 8 clearly was not as smooth. Nevertheless, I am still super confused, as i fear that i might regret my decision later. I have spent a lot of money on the insurance and on the original Samsung case and resale value is bad here in India. But my gut feeling is to still go ahead and try the V30
Well, I thought I will be using the S pen a lot, but unfortunately dint use it after the first few weeks.
I agree, if that's how you feel go for it. Even if someone tries to convince you not to, you already have the thought & may not agree. But if someone tells you reasons why you should you'll probably agree because you have that thought already. People look for assurance to make big decisions, it's human nature. But this decision is yours, it's your personal preference, everyone is different & nothing wrong with that.
My past 2 phones were Notes, I'm a big fan of the SPen. I'm always up for change & consider others. I do look at phones other than Samsung whenever I get a new one. But LG is not one of them. I'm personally not a fan of any of their products except my room AC is LG, their phones & TVs, they never catch my eye. Quality & features seem lacking to me. Maybe part of it is the experience with them that I saw when I worked in OEM electronic repair. We always said that LG stood for Low Grade. Haha
It sounds like you are the type to get bored of phones & need to change often. In the US for T-Mobile we have a Jump On Demand program where after 18 months or something like that you can trade in your phone for some new model. Great for people who like to have the latest & greatest. Do they offer anything like that where you are? It will help your wallet to switch phones often.
Hahaha. I understand you. For me, LG has always been that brand which has come very close to replacing my Samsung phones But never succeeded. I have an LG 4K tv which I absolutely love. As far as the decision of buying the V30, I haven't made up my mind completely yet. I wanted to know from someone who has used both and if they had a strong reason not to switch from the Note 8, apart from its S pen feature of course. I am still in 2 minds actually, since I will be wasting a lot of money and Also, if I regret the decision later, I will definitely not be able to spend more to get back to the Note 8 for now. Haha.

Hahahaha. Absolutely!! You got me. I am that kind of person who get bored with phones very often. And unfortunately here in India we don't have such schemes. What a shame!!
To be fair I've never played with a LG TV so I can't really say I don't like them. LG crossed my mind before buying the Note 8. Then I decided to buy an Exynos Note 8 cause I can't live without custom recovery & root cause we only have Snapdragon in the US. But then again if it comes to the day when that's not an option I may switch from Samsung even if not available on other OEMs. There are some Huawei phones that seem nice, I think they will be a great competitor in due time if not already.
That sucks that resale value is low where you are. How about selling on ebay? I've never sold my old phones. Luckily I'm not the type to upgrade phones every year, that would definitely not be good for my wallet as flagship phones cost way too much these days.
Unfortunately, It's all the same here whether you sell it on eBay or any other platform. Nevertheless, i might not buy the V30 if i dont sell my Note 8 for a decent price. Lets see

Actually on Jump on Demand in teh US, you can trade for other new flagship devices several times a year - the 18 months is the lease term.

OP do as you please. Your money and your choice. V30 excellent phone. LG blows away EVERY phone in audio away. The new LG V30 coming out soon. The LG V30 ThinQ? LG sales have been pretty bad. So now they do slight upgrade from last year flagship huh? Even the new V30 only thing it has over Note 8 is better chip and audio.
Regular V30 only had better audio then Note 8. I do agree V30 looks better. The curved screen is worthless. I'd still take Note 8 over V30. I use to be a die hard LG fan. If you do rock LG stick with V series! There other phones have crap build quality.
Worst build quality I've ever dealt with. Stick to V20, V30, V? Etc.
Even the V series is slightly risky according to some and this lawsuit below. Sales have been so bad rumors that LG canned LG G7. Kinda concerning to invest in a company like that? LG made Pixel 2 screens which is having a bad time with screens.

So, i could finally come to a decision after i went back to the store again today and played with the V30 for good amount of time. Well, i did one important thing before going to the store, which is, replaced my Note 8 official protective standing case with a local 360 degree case. This had already made a lot of difference in how i felt the Note 8 in the hand. So, while i was checking out the V30 today at the store, i did all the possible tests on how better or worse the screen is compared to the Note 8 and how good or bad the camera is and over all how the feel of holding it is, against the Note 8. But when i finally started typing on the V30, trust me, it literally felt like a toy. I had not felt that way until that moment. I immediately went back to my Note 8 and typed on it and i knew i had the better phone with me. Also, like i said, i had changed the case to a much lighter one which had already made the difference. But when i did try typing on the V30, i knew why i had paid those extra dollars for the Note 8. Happily came back home and not going to probably check any other phones until the Note 9 or Pixel 3 XL comes out. Thanks again for all the responses. My Note is here to Stay for longer
Edit: Changing the case to a lighter one would have made it more vulnerable to breaking, but hey, what is the insurance for after all?
Good decision

That's why I don't bother upgrading every year, waste of money IMO. Usually need 2 generations to see worthy differences. Same with Android versions, need to 2 letter versions to see noticeable differences. That's why I don't understand why everyone was so anxious to get Oreo. Now that it's here, nothing exciting about it & different than all the past Oreo reviews.

Agreed 100%. 1k a year for a phone? No thanks. $500 not to bad. Yeah Oreo doesn't seem much different. We should get Android P, but that will be a while. Like you pointed out usually takes 2 generations to see a worthy difference. In regards to new features and better specs. Some people want newest phone though. For those people do as you will. Others that on the fence really read into what we're saying.

Anyone jumping ship?

So it's that time of year again when a new and honestly beastly lime of Samsung flagships is announced. The Galaxy S20 line looks legitimately promising but is it enought to give up the Note 9 and S pen though? Or are you gonna wait to see what the Note 20/+/Ultra has to offer a few months down the line.
I wanna see everyone's view on these new phones that ol Sammy has announced. I'm personally on the fence. I want the new tech but I just know the Note line will blow it out of the water later this year so it leaves room for a potential bait and switch lol.
What about you all?
Note line for me. Still have my Original Note1,2,3,4,5,FE,8,9,10...gonna see what Note11(20) has in store. If anything like the S20 I I'm sure it will be a beast.

I'm intrigued with just about any new midrange to flagship phone that comes out.
However, I usually steer clear of the S lineup for a few reasons.
1) No S-Pen. I rarely use it, but, it's nice to have when you want/need it. The price difference between the top of the line S series & the Note is negligible considering you get the S-Pen & usually some newer hardware/software features.
2) I don't particularly care for the curves on the S series, preferring the boxier look of the Note.
3) The hole punch. Yeah, you can (probably) hide it, just as you can on the Note 10, but, that kinda sux that you sacrifice screen real estate for a cleaner look. The fact that all the marketing pix hide it w/dark gradient wallpapers & having a software option to hide it is an admission that it's an awful stopgap before the hidden FFC's are available.
I'd be lying if I said I'm not tempted to get the S20 Ultra. The 5G speeds alone are definitely appreciable, both the Note 10 & OP7T Pro are definitely snappier with it. However, the eye-watering price of $1400-$1600 USD is a hard pill to swallow.
The only way I'll jump ship is if pre-order trade-in offers on the carriers (T-Mobile US here) is a lot better than the $300 that Samsung is offering. Otherwise, I'm hanging on to the Note 9 until the Note 20 arrives, or longer. Mine is running just as well as it did on opening day & battery health is still around the 95% range, kinda hard to trade it in for the measly $210 that T-Mobile is currently offering. (Not particularly interested in bothering with listing it on Swappa & the like, last time I checked, way too many available for sale,it's a buyer's market)
In the meantime, I scratched my itch for new hardware yesterday.
T-Mobile slashed the price of their Pixel 4 lineup:
Pixel 4XL was $899,sale price as of 2/12/20: $499.
Pixel 4 was $799,now 50% off as of 2/12/20: $399.
Got it (4XL) on T-Mobile's JOD, $0 down & free overnight shipping, ETA 2/14/20.
Will use it as a daily driver for the first week or two, long enough to determine if it's a keeper (for a backup/secondary phone) or, send it back during the buyer's remorse grace period.
Is the S20 worth getting?
I wouldn't fault anyone who doesn't want to wait for the next Note to land, but, I'd definitely stay away from the smallest one, as it doesn't have the MM Wave variety of 5G. Yeah, I know 99% of the US doesn't even have it available, present company included, however, @ $1000, no sale here.

Still loving my note 9. I see no reason to upgrade. Note9 still is peak smartphone for me. Note 10 was a step backwards (I don't like notches or holes in my display, and I like my headphone jack).
Note 11 or 20 or whatever likely isn't an upgrade for me either. Note 9 still goes two days on a charge unless I game on it, still fast as when I bought it, and still takes great photos. I'll wait until some of that changes.
My wife and I might be switching to something a little more stock related later this year. Just tired of bloat, crappy support when it comes to issues, and definitely something a lot cheaper. Maybe if Google does things right, I might just get two Pixel 4a/XL or whatever when they eventually come out? Not sure to be honest. OnePlus is now up there with the big guys in pricing so that might not happen. Don't know, but I do know that I will be keeping my Note 9 as a backup.

I'm gonna try my best to keep my 9 but I can't do pixels only because Google refuses to put in a micro SD card slot. That and the specs don't ever really impress me. There's never a wow factor. Besides it being stock Android there's nothing cool about it

Fam, please don't start that here. That subject has been killed by dark matter long after humans were wiped out the first time around.
^ yeah, that's how ridiculous it is.??*

C'mon man it's basically the truth. Why are there so many similarities then if Google supposedly didn't clone iOS 12?

Did you know cars have 4 wheels, and some even have 3? Brakes, windows, and engine, some gas, electric, diesel, and now hydrogen? They even have lights. Whoa. Wait, they should stop cloning each other!!!! I want a car without disc brakes!!! Needs to use polarity transfer for stopping before I buy it....
Bruh, it's called competition. You have to use some of the likeness of your competition if you're trying to tell their customers, "hey you can do the same thing over here, but a little cheaper." Well, you don't have to, but it sure makes it easier to win. I don't know what to tell you man. Go buy a windows phone? Oh wait those are the same too....
By the way, at the core of ios and android....same architecture...tsk, stupid clones, they're even using the same screens...?

Yeah, the one thing I hate about the pixels is the affordability no longer really being a bumped compared to my Note 9. Putting shiny wrapping on a turd doesn't make it hot sh....you know where I'm going with this.
Luckily for me, my wife doesn't even use the spen, so I just need to make sure I get her a phone that's compatible with xfinity mobile that won't cost an arm and leg. ?

Lol that's different. Google has decided to clone iOS since they ran out of new ideas

Not liking the price though, it's getting to the point where it's outside my price range, no justification in spending so much on a pocket pc that can be damaged, lost or stolen so easily...
And the note lineup is gonna be so much more expensive than the S20 variants...
Nope, kinda pissed that the plain note 10 is smaller than the 9 the 10+ is the same size as the 9 so you pay more for less? I kind my full rounded screen. The notch hole punch, whatever their doing these days. I like having a whole screen. The biggest thing for me is personalization. You look at iPhone and everyone has the same layout and everything. With Android is free reign. I like being in control of my device more so than the other way around

Exactly!
I may skip yet another year in the Note upgrade game, & this is coming from someone who got the Note FE (still have it).
The Note 10+5G (T-Mobile US) is a beast,warts & all.
However, while the 5G speeds are nice,if you have already fast 4G LTE &/or Wi-Fi most of the time, it's a hard sell when you have a perfectly fine Note 9 & that's why I returned mine during the buyer's remorse period.
If the Note 20 is priced much more than the S20 Ultra, I'll probably sit out another upgrade & will continue to do so until my Note 9 battery takes a nosedive....

I'm actually waiting to see what Samsung does with the new note. I just came from IOS to Android and I've always loved the Note series but I couldn't afford the Note 10 + currently so i got the note 9 for like $350 and it's so damn good. By the time Samsung announces the new note I should be financially stable enough to get it on launch day so I'll be patient and continue to use this beast of a phone.
Ladies and gents the Note 9 is the goat! When the 10 came out with the hole punch I was not loving it but I tried the 10+ before I bought the 9 I was using my note 8 which was great but the battery was poor life otherwise note 8 was great. So the note 10+ I bought was having very poor reception and when I was gaming some of my buttons were near the hole punch and it was effecting game performance so I looked at note 9 specs and seen that it's the last note with headphone jack no hole screen and 4000mah battery! Plus when I had finally decided to upgrade from note 8 the 9 had been out a year and a half so the prices were coming down, I bought not 1 but 2 note 9 from Samsung on ebay for 349.99 brand new! I am fully prepared for this to be the last phone I ever use...
