Z3C black spot/under lens dust - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have experienced all of a sudden a black spot in my camera apps. It seems like some kind of dust maybe is INSIDE the lenses. Or maybe condensation? I havent put it into water or sth...
Example how the pictures turn up...
Do I take it to warenty center? Do I request a new device?
Thnx

Looks like the shadow a dust particle very close to the sensor, take a few more pics of different scenes and show it to the Sony support / xperia care. I'm sure they'll have it fixed for you.

Dropped it off in the nearest T-Mobile centre forr warranty replacement.
How the F does a dust get in a water resistant/waterproof phone?

i have the exacttttt same issue on mines, tmobile doesnt offer the z3c, how did you take it there?

Dirt under camera lens?

Hello,
A few days ago I noticed a black spot on all my pictures. I feared the worst and thought I had a faulty camera sensor. But then the black spot started to move when I shook my phone....
Doing some research seems to confirm it's dust under my lens...
Did anyone else get the same problem?
I didn't take the extended warranty from Docomo. So I suppose I am screwed?
I doubt I can take the phone apart to clean it myself without completely ruining the waterproof aspect of it?
I think the phone has a 2 year warranty so you don't need the extended warranty to claim.
Phil
Yeah I have that issue, but my dust seems to be a bit harder to move. A bit surprised by it. Also initially thought it was a sensor issue, but then it disappeared after a couple of weeks and got replaced by two much smaller dots. A bit weird but I'm not too fussed about it.
Attached some shots before the dust, during the dust, and after the dust.

Yes was about to say that it will not be dirt, indeed dust is more obvious
Just for everyone's info:
I brought the phone back to the docomo shop, they said they would open it up and clean it.
If the insides of the case would have been bent (from sitting on it or dropping it) and that would have caused the dust to enter, they would have charged me 5000 JPY (around 50 USD) to repair it. Apparently that wasn't the case.
So they cleaned my lens, and they still put a new case on my phone. Which is great, cause my case was chipped. They also renewed my screen or at least the sony protectors on it, because all microscratches are gone! All for the exact cost of free.
All in all, I got pretty lucky. Just had to live with an LG Optimus LTE for 1 week, damn torture if you come from the xperia z

Sigh...
I can resist looking at hot girls, but if they are too hot, I will have to give in eventually. Therefor I'm hot girl resistant and not hot girl proof.
Maybe you will understand it this way. Being resistant to something doesn't mean that you're immune to it.

Making it more waterproof...

So...
I went swimming with the phone today and pretty much broke it
Filmed with it for about 20 mins going in and out of the water (not going deeper than half a meter).
The quality of the filming and photographing were really good but then the screen started flickering and on the left it showed kind of lines with purple pixels. Went out of the water to dry it off and phone went tripping. Shut it down and now its broken,
There was water in the battery compartment... Anyways, want it to be repared and / or samsung to get me a new one if I can pull that off.
The reason I post this here is because I want to know if there's a way to make the rubber on the inside / the USB port more waterresistand, like putting some kind of spray on it or something?
Let me know your thoughts and maybe we can make this phone more waterproof / enjoyable for everyone?
Thnx in advance!
I had the idea of doing this but I don't take my phone in water much...You can make a MUCH better gasket with some rtv silicone should have zero issue's then
I work for AT&T and there is a new policy that says we have to replace the Active for first-time water damage, even though it is not covered by Samsung's warranty. Just bring it in and be nice. The rep can exchange it for you.

I herd about that...I have a active I bought off ebay would I be able to get mine replaced or no since I don't have at&t service?
Well, I know now (because i searched the interwebz) that it's actually not as waterproof as advertised..
Since I live in The Netherlands AT&T is not my carrier, gonna try to bring it back today and hope for the best.
The reason for this thread is to know if there are any easy solutions on making it more waterproof.
So how is this rtv silicone stuff working? And how easy is it to use

Unfortunately, you have to have bought it from AT&T. The service doesn't matter.

The person I bought it from on ebay bought it with there upgrade? I have box can I do anything?
S4 Active water resistant improvment
the best sollution is to choose an external rubber case http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOLID-CLEAR...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item3f26fc4631
to gasket the usb hole and keep the rubber out of sun because the rubber gets soft on sun and it will last shorter if you expose your S4 to the sun
kinda like the external design of the active, so no protective cases for me.
therefor I was hoping there were any tweaks you can make inside of it

[Q] Not so dust proof

I always have my phone in my pockets without cases, but am surprised that this happened with this phone which is marketed as water resistant and dust ... "proof".
Few weeks ago it seems that some dust got on the CCD, and it's quite apparent in pictures. Anyone had similar issues ? (see attached picture) Basically all pictures I take are pretty bad because there is clear black dots that have covered the CCD. The dots move around every few days... unfortunately. But it seems that they will not move off the CCD.
I"m guessing this must of happened in factory, and it's moving around inside the phone. The water resistance is still quite stellar.
If it happened in the factory, then return it to Sony. I think for this instance it'll be a free replacement.

I've the same problem too. 2 big spots that look like flies, I only noticed it the other day when taking a picture against a white wall :cyclops:
Don't know what to do...
I'm not sure if they can test if the flaps and things were breached by dust like they can with water. So surely it'd be a free replacement?

Would love a free replacement, but bought it 2nd hand, (maybe third?), does the warranty still stand then?
Warranty is tied to the phone not the purchaser so should be, yeah. Tweet them, email them or call them to clarify.

It has been discussed many times..
For some it is because of a heat issue.. That makes the glue go loose and dust comes in..
I have gotten mine repaired.. No problems anymore
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Well the phone will be going back for "repairs" which is good.
However I did ask specifically if rooting the phone voids the warranty, and it does. So time to go back to stock (how?), will post back with the results in 14 business days.

Br0 i have also same problem with my XPeria Sp..
The camera basically stopped working due to scratches or fog so i gave to service center and the phone is under warranty but at first the guy Flashed an FTF fiile saying that there was a software problem but then after flashing also there was the same problem then he opened the back panel of the phone and then the glass was removed and there no glass infront of the lens and then he started the camera the n the camera was working perfectly so the guy said that there was physical damage which is not covered under warranty but i requested him to adjust this problem and he also had xperia sp and seeing that i was helpless he finally agreed to change the whole assembly free of cost under warranty :victory:
I went with my uncle who owns a Xperia Z1 (he also gave them to update to 4.3) and he also convinced him to repair it under warranty and finally he took my ohone and preapered an Job Sheet and i submitted my phone to the service center ..
but he told that it will take almost 1 week or more and phone is still with them.
Pic when the camera was damaged https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-LPkUsBCczAcTlRN1I4NjlmVkk&usp=sharing
Using Nokia E6 as of now..:silly:
hope this helps

ya br0 it depends upon the person who looks into the device in the service center...
do some emotional attack to the person and you may get the device fixed under warranty...
and if you are having touch prob in flat surface then lodge a complaint against that also, hope they fix the same also.
I also made complain against touch prob but the service center guy said me that even if he changes the touch panel then also i will have the same prob as its a defect of the device and as the guy himself uses xperia sp he raised the issue to the top of the management of the sony but his device also didnot get fixed.:silly:

Xperia Sp Camera Camera Lense scratch solution
I was pretty stunned when i noticed that the image i was clicking were deteriorating in quality and getting smudged!
This was when i noticed that there were a lot of scratches. I've fixed this issue now. and it works really fine!
All you need is your normal toothpaste(Colgate) and a Earbud! Apply a pea of toothpaste on the ear but and keep wiping it on the camera lense in a circular motion for about 10 minutes, clean with a bit wet cloth or cotton. And Voila! you're lens is as brand new!
Thanks for the great tip
I just googled it and found that it really works
Cool will try and report
Thanks

[Q] Crack in screen and waterproofing.

No one appears to have asked something this specific so here goes.
Conveniently I cracked the glass back of my Xperia Z1; and was just curious as to how a crack here will affect how waterproof it is.
I assume it's no good now, however I would like to confirm, particularly with anyone who has pulled one apart.
Will be calling Sony tomorrow to try sort this out too.
Cheers guys.

Sorry for the delay, had to find something to take a photo with, and a decent light source.
I bumped it off a table onto a wooden floor, don't mind forking out some cash for repairs though (just not sure if I can cope with not having my phone for a few days, sorta need it for work).
I have also emailed Sony, but I don't think I'll get a reply until tomorrow.
Attached is picture.

are you sure the glass panel is cracked ? or it is the crack on sheet above it ?
I didn't know the sheet above could crack the way this did, unless it scratched on something when it fell. I don't particularly want to take the ASF off as I've heard it voids warranty, however you have got me thinking, it does look like just the film on top.
It'd be nice if Sony sold replacement films.
