I did a full backup of system, data, etc on TWRP (2.66gb total folder size) - can I assume that should I corrupt my phone somehow, I can restore from this and the phone will be in the exact state when I did the backup - all apps, logins, etc intact?
Also, I do weekly backups with titanium free edition - does titanium does the same thing or should I still do the above every few months?

It's a complete "snapshot" of your phone as it was when you took it.
No titianium does not do the same thing. Titanium backs up individual apps and their respective data so you can restore individual apps or all apps at once. It's benefit is when switching roms where you have to wipe the phone and you can just restore your user apps without restoring any system data
I use the app ultimate backup to back up apps and data and I use the TWRP backups just as a safety measure before flashing a new ROM or update.......
I like to start a fresh you see with a new ROM, and then just install ultimate backup again, move over the back up data that I previously copied to my PC, and restore them, and this basically returns everything to how it was before due to the launcher, Nova, and its settings also being restored.

I've been running Cog 2.2B7 ever since it first came out. I like it fine. But I am thinking of maybe going with a Perception rom to try out the HSUPA and built-in lag fix. I've accumulated tons of apps on my phone.
What is the best way to save the state of my phone so after flashing to a new rom I can restore it quickly without having to go and download 50 or so apps all over again.
I have Titanium Backup, but havent really used it much for backing up/restoring apps. Last time I used it I backed up all the AT&T bloatware apps then uninstalled them. However I was unable to re-install them from the Titanium backups. So, I thought it was a waste.
I also have the premium version of ROM Manager. I've made several Nandroid backups but everytime I go to restore one of those backups the restore process crashes, every single time.
I guess all in all, I have had **** for luck with backing up and restoring.
Any advice or instructions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most of the ROMs have a wipe and nowipe version. If you install the no wipe version, all your apps and settings are still present after flashing. If you need to install a wipe version, Titanium backup is the best thing.. Here are the steps:
1. Open Titanium Backup
2. Click Menu button -> batch
3. Run backup all user apps (or user apps + system data - maybe dangerous)
4. It gets backed up in the internal SD card (My Files Home) in the folder Titanium backup.
5. Copy this folder to the PC or external SD, coz master clear would clear the internal SD card.
6. After flashing, copy the folder to the internal SD card (if it's not already present coz of master clear)
7. Open Titanium Backup.
8. Click Menu button -> batch
9. Run Restore Missing apps +data (or missing apps +system data)
10. Voila!! done!

Point to add:
Do NOT restore system data on different versions of ROMs. Some of them tend to fail, and this could cause FCs.
Even when restoring apps data, be careful. When u r moving between android versions, it would recommended to install just the apps, and not data. There is a high possibility of data location changes in db between versions.

I just flashed a new rom -Stocklite 7.1
This is my first attempt at flashing a ROM so bare with me.
I created a Nandroid backup prior to flashing and I also copied the entire contents of the SD card over to my computer.
I am using Link2SD and an ext partion as well.
Flashed succesfully. However none of my previous apps / data show up, this was slightly unexpected. I attempted to peform a nandroid data only backup to get these by going to recovery mode then advanced data only restore.
But i got an md5 mismatch.
Basically.
I am trying to restore my apps / data and I want to keep the stocklite 7.1 ROM. NOT a full restore.
Any help?
I recommend using titanium backup for backing up your apps. But, you can probably get user apps by coppying/flashing them to where they belong.
Options:
1 go back to stock rom by restoring your stock backup, make a backup using titanium backup, flash stock lite, install titanium backup, restore your apps. To succesfully restore your stock nandroid backup use te ext4 manager app, convert system to rfs, go to recovery, restore.
2 - open your stock backup on your computer with unpacking or iso software (like 7 zip), extract your user apps (apk files), create a flashable zip to flash them to data/app, system/app as needed. You can also flash their libs and data files to data/data and dalvik-cache to data/dalvik-cache. That should restore user apps and their data to internal memory if you don't want to use titanium backup.
You lost all your data..you should have a taken app backups with Titanium Backup,Nandroid isn't enough.
MD5 mismatch is showing up because you changed the name of the backup folder ..
You can open the backup manually, and get all the data.It might or not work,that would depend oon your luck

Yesterday I unlocked my bootloader, installed CWM and SuperSU. Today I installed the Titanum backup and started backuping. Now I wonder how to restore the backups if the app was deleted once? Let's say I want to install a custom ROM and it wipes all my data. How can I restore the backups I did today?

Reinstall TiBU from the Play Store after you installed the custom ROM. In TiBU, locate the backups you've made (preferably in a safe location on your external SD) and restore the apps/settings you want. Be careful though, because not all settings/apps will work on a different ROM.

With TB Pro you can generate a CWM flashable TB install ZIP
What I do :
- TB backups are on a SDCard
- TB backups are copied on an external HDD from time to time and always before Rom upgrade
- TB flashable ZIP is generated at every TB update and ZIP copied to external HDD
Doing this allows me to update Rom without stress. I always also do a Nandroid backup just in case
One may say I'm paranoid but doing this way I never lost any data or software and always restored from a crashed Rom update
BTW : always remember TB needs root so this is a prerequisite !

/storage/sdcard0 (Internal)
/starage/sdcard1 (SD Card)
By default TB puts backups in /sdcar0/TitaniumBackup. If you uninstall TB your backups will remain making it a great tool when wiping/switching ROMs. Once TB is re-installed it will read your backups from that folder and you will be able to perform restore functions within the app.
If you do a factory wipe (aka full wipe) in TWRP (not sure about CWM) neither /sdcard0 or /sdcard1 will be touched.
As @Howell has pointed out there are many ways to backup your backups, and restore backups. TB has many options and ways to backup/restore your data. Similar to Howell, every couple weeks I will copy both /sdcards to my computer for safe keeping. If you buy the pro version (recommended) then you can schedule backups, and have more than one backup of an app - I have found multiple backups useful if an update to an Xposed module breaks certain functions since they aren't always device specific.
Typically I do not backup any system apps or data because as @Don MC pointed out these don't always restore properly when switching ROMs (even if it's an update to the same ROM). SMS/MMS data is an exception I guess. I have a few system apps such as my lockscreen.apk and SystemUI.apk backed up, but only because they conflicted with some Xposed modules.

i have ATT note 3,, i did backup using safe strap and after x note ROM instillation i tried to do restore data but it failed,,,any solution
I believe the Safestrap backups are similar to just TWRP or Nandroid backups.
They'll save the entire partition as is, to restore back to that state at a later date.
They aren't good for, say, moving all your apps and appdata to a new Rom.
For that, you should use Titanium Backup or a similar backup manager like Helium.
Then back up just the apps and appdata (not system apps, since they'll often conflict with the new rom) to your SDCard, and restore them when on the new app.
Sorry, it doesn't help when you've already done the TWRP backup and flashed a new rom.
Hello, any info I've found doesn't help clarify one big question for me:
I just installed Resurrection Remix onto my m7spr, from an old version of Sense. I want to restore user apps/data using my Titanium Backup, however I didn't clean out the old system app/data backups prior. I don't want to restore any system data, as I'm sure it's not compatible and will likely corrupt new system data, or just be entirely useless and wasting space. Is there a way to do a batch restore that does not include system apps/data?
Additional info:
My batch restore options are as follows:
Restore missing apps with data (250)
Restore all apps with data (314)
Restore all system data (277)
Restore missing apps + all system data (101)
Restore newer versions of user apps (0)
I'm reasonably certain I don't have 250 missing user apps that need restoring.

Playing around with it a bit I discovered you can individually select/deselect the apps you wish to restore from a list, and do a selective batch restore. This is what I was looking for.
Yes, best way is to install the apps you want from play store and then restore only app data for those apps. If you restore complete apps it makes problems very often espacially between different android versions.
