Nexus 6 At&t from amazon? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quick question i want to buy the nexus 6 and get it quick i see amazon has it and i can buy it today and get it tomorrow now its the At&t version of it unlocked when you buy the 649.99 price tag? I want to use it on cricket... thank you

No its not. It is locked. They can unlock it for you if you have an active contract with them or unlock it online.

You can probably use it with cricket without being unlocked because they are owned by at&t. They use the same network. If you can I would suggest getting the T-Mobile version because its factory unlocked and its not branded.

Yup and if for some reason they can't activate it then unlock it online for about $15.

You can use any AT&T phone that's not unlocked on cricket just find. I'm using a Nexus 6 on Cricket right now with there 20GB plan.

[Q] AT&T or T-mobile Variant?

I'm torn between purchasing an AT&T Note 3 or a T-Mobile one. I know the AT&T Note 3 bootloader will be locked and I will most likely have to wait for it to be unlocked and rooted if that is even possible since there is no one who has tried yet. The T-Mobile Note 3 will most likely have an unlocked bootloader but I've been reading around the forums and people are saying that you can not purchase the device with out a plan from T-Mobile even if you do pay for the device out right can I get some clarification on that? So which one would be best for my needs? I'm on AT&T currently and would like to stay with them but I do want root and an unlocked bootloader. What do you guys think? I know I posted this on the AT&T sub-forum but do you have any regrets of not pre-ordering a T-Mobile Note 3 instead? Thanks for your help and input!

I'm in the same boat
What I did was use my upgrade to get a GN3, I am going to sell that then for about 700 and buy and unlocked Tmobile GN3 from Negrielectronics.com so I'm spending around 400 dollars on a GN3 for Tmobile that has an unlocked bootloader and can use ATT's LTE.
Not a bad suggestion. Appreciate the input

From the screen shots, it does not look like the bootloader is locked.. Its something to do with either flashing or the files used...
Bootloader is definitely unlocked or else we wont be seeing the commands that appear
Yeah I saw that as well. I'm gonna wait until there's proof that it is locked or unlocked. Hoping for the best lol.

Chainfire has released CF auto root for the tmobile variant. It uses the recovery method to root.
I have access to an att demo unit, but am unable to take it out of the store. How would I check the bootloader status in store?

The AT&T boot loader is locked. No need to check.

You can't. Once the stock firmware has been released for the AT&T version(which it hasn't) a dev like chainfire will modify the recovery from it. If it flashes successfully then it is unlocked. If it fails then it is locked. It is very risky to test flash something without the stock firmware.
ATT version = locked boot loader
T-Mobile version = wireless charging disabled.

I haven't seen any reports of that yet on the Note 3. The Note 2 did have one of the pins not connected.

YAY! That's awesome, would I be able to buy it from T-Mobile out right and then get it unlocked using a third party service? Then use it on AT&T?

Some people have said they were able to by the phone without service and some have not. Yes you can get it unlocked from a third party like cellunlocker.net. If you have a friend on Tmobile you might take them to lunch or something and stop by Tmobile. The phone doesn't have to be used on their account. I just think some store's are requiring an active account to buy it outright. I bought mine from Negri already unlocked. Still hasn't shipped yet though. For no tax I can wait.
Thanks for the advice! I just went to my local T-mobile and purchased one no questions asked. Granted it was 739$ before taxes and now I'm just waiting for my unlock code to be emailed to me by cellunlocker.net. overall very happy with my purchase.

I didn't have to buy a plan all I said was I wanted to buy a Note 3 for full retail. She rang my purchase out and I had the box in my hands. It ended up being 739$ plus tax instead of the normal 708$ but it was worth it. The sales associate didn't hassle me or anything about a plan. It's a mixed bag I guess some people on the forums had to get a plan but I was lucky enough not to.

Was it a dealer or corporate store?
It was a corporate store they had one black one left and I took it . Also an update on the unlock. It took about 2 hours but my Note 3 is now unlocked and using AT&T's LTE network. Getting about the same speeds as I was when using my iPhone 5. Extremely happy with my purchase!

No. But getting the device unlocked by them won't be a problem.
Sim unlocked or Bootloader unlocked, bl will likely never be unlocked in the near future, sim unlocked u can usually call ATT if not there are unlocking services.

not that I know of. it seems to me that any unlocking service outside of the carriers is quite pricey and takes a while. but I could be wrong.
I don't know what their current Sim unlock policy is. But I remember to receive a unlock code you must be with AT&T for 90 days first. But they could of had changed that. If you pay full retail it won't be unlock. You just won't be on a contract. Meaning you could cancel their service at any time.

Hey there, do you hear fantastic news that unlocking services cut down price ranges for AT&T iPhone unlock?
The President of USA has signed the law enabling third-party companies to unlock locked mobile phone handset in U . s .. Another good information is that prices reduce and the cheapest unlock certainly is the unlock for AT&T iPhone. You can now unlock clean and out of contract AT&T iPhone 4, 4S for $15 only! This is certainly impressive because only one week ago the fee was $10 larger.

Unlocked S5?

So, I am wanting to get the S5, but I am tired of all the AT7T bloatware that comes on these phones. Plus, being in the military, prefer unlocked phones. So, what are my choices here. Where can I get an unlocked S5 that will fully work on the AT7T network?

The closest you could get is a TMO branded S5 which ships BL Unlocked (at least initial shipments) a few bands may not work though depending on the TMO radio. Also you would need to sim unlock the TMO S5 and buy it outright which I believe is 660.

I was wondering about that. Heard the TMO boot loader is unlocked. Just wasn't sure all bands would work on AT&T.
Att LTE should work hspa+ not sure I haven't looked at tmo specs at length

looking on the site you gave me, it stated that all samsung devices would need to be activated on original carrier first or the phone would be region locked. is this correct?

The expectation is that all American models are region-locked as well. Here is an example of a N. America model with the region-lock warning on it: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s5-region-lock-367402/
FYI, I bought an AT&T S5, unlocked it and am using it now on Straight Talk and with other local SIMs as I travel. Check out my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714535

Warranty question

I have a brand new att n6 thats still sim locked to att but im using it with att straight talk and its working fine. The factory warranty on this isnt up until next year. If i contact Motorola asking for a replacement will they give me a already unlocked n6 or a new att n6?
So, there's nothing wrong with your phone? You just want to try to score an unlocked phone? If so, despicable. Pay an unlock site $25 and be done. If my assumptions are incorrect, my apologies.

Flash metropcs rom on tmobile

Hello and good day!
I just bought a g6 h872 T-Mobile network locked from eBay.
Unlock service is way expensive for T-Mobile so can I flash a metropcs rom in order to request a cheaper network unlock service and then flash T-Mobile stock rom?
Or any cheapest way to do a network unlock?

Unfortunately there is no other way Without paying. Only other way would be if the guy who sold it to you paid it off and he could just call T-Mobile and have them permanently unlock it for me
Or you could buy a phone for a real price that's been unlocked. Lo barato sale caro.
