Awesome to see you over here @deuce_biggins. Loved and missed your work on the note 3.
Also its a shame to see it won't work with MCR. I just returned to stock ROM with root.

I can make a flashable revert zip tomorrow if you like. That's why I tell all to make a backup, easy to revert back that way too if you don't like it.

First time for everything... When unlocking half the screen will look as if its still locked. This is currently the only mod after a clean flash. Is anyone else running into this?

Wish this would work on Terminus Rom....... ?

Would be awesome if this would work on 5.0.2

Late response but it happens to a lot of us. Not mod related.

Will this work on any 5.0.1 rom? I see in OP it has to be stock odex, just wondering.

I'm on clean ROM 5.0.1 v1.5.0

Port this for 5.1 please.

the source zip is for devs looking to port the mod to other ROM's/Phones
NOTE: framework-res.apk is a little bit larger so make sure
you have enough room on the system partition to install

[ROOT][5/24]Sprint One Root and Disable System Write Protection

Thanks to Dees_Troy getting TWRP working on this device, I have made an easy way to root your Sprint One and disable /system write protection.
Q&AWhat does this contain?
Everything necessary to install the latest SuperSU and supporting files (su binary included)
Install latest busybox in recovery
A ported wp_mod.ko module for this kernel
A script to start wp_mod.ko
A modified boot.img - insecured (allows for remounting of /system to rw when in Android), enabled USB debugging by default, and added busybox run-parts (alows scripts to run during boot).
What is /system write protection?
HTC now keeps you from writing to /system through the kernel. When you try to modify anything in /system, you'll get a reboot. This cannot be fixed until there is source available, so this method by flar2 works wonderfully.
How is this different from this method?
TWRP's method is great, but it doesn't disable /system rw protection. This means that you will still experience issues when modifying /system when booted into Android (deleting/adding files, updating SuperSU binary, etc). I would recommend my flashable .zip method!
Can I use this if I already installed SuperSU from TWRP?
Yes, you can flash this with no issues.

You bet lol it's lovely!
What a champion among men. Fine a bit longer nap when you're done. And the good gruel!
All jokes aside, thanks a lot for all of this. Now I'm prepped for Fridays release.
How'd you get into devving anyways? Did you have previous programming knowledge or just dive right in? I really wanna get into it and I'm very knowledgeable about computers and android but I've haven't dealt with coding much(save for a few lessons on codecademy) nor have looked much into development for android. Is it difficult to say add a new setting to the stock settings or to bake in/remove an app that wasn't there or needs to be removed?
Sorry if I'm taking up your time I'm just really interested in getting into it. I've been running other peoples ROMs from lgoptimusog>htcevoOG>htcevo3d>galaxye4gt>evolte>galaxys3 not to mention tablet ROMs and I just want to make my own tailored to me.

So what fastboot commands would I use? I may make a tutorial on youtube once I get the Sprint HTC One on Friday. Rooting can be complicated, but is so much fun to do! Thanks for clarifying. The FAQ question asking "how is this different from the directions for TWRP?" had me thinking this was an alternative not something that works hand in hand. Perhaps adding that clarity might help others looking in here.

Yeah, you can. If you have TWRP installed, you can flash one of the stock rooted ROMs I put out (they have this built-in), or if you want to just flash this, it's basically the same as stock Odex ROM. Your call, but I'd hop on a deodex ROM, all mods will be done for deodex ROMs.

That's not a bad idea, I might do that, but it is nice to have them in separate threads as well, that way you don't get confused by the different questions/issues that are being posted for different mods.

I figured it wouldn't. If you're rooted, you can use Titanium backup to deodex, flash it, then re-odex. (This might be a Pro only feature though, I'm not sure of that, but Pro is totally worth it anyways.)
crawrj knows how to odex it, My kitchen isn't setup for odexing right now, it's actually kind of a mess right now... I have so many different mods I'm working on, haha, I get so confused sometimes.
Maybe I'll have him get us an odex version of this.

Just noticed this thread. I will Odex this soon. I will also join the hotspot with it because right now you can only have one or the other unless you use a Rom that includes them both.

Yeah, I'm going to update ForceROM to include them both. But please do, I can close this thread so that it's only for reference, then you can just post it along side the Hotspot thread and the more we add more services.jar changes, maybe change the thread to "services mods" or something... and make each version for people who only want certain mods.

You can just put them in your OP if you want. If the need arises as more Mods are added, one of us can do an AIO thread later on.
Edit: OK looks like you already have them combined.

With xposed, I now see very little reason to ever download another custom rom, unless it's got something really unique which xposed can't do. So far I have yet to find anything useful from custom roms that xposed can't take care of...beyond the few small changes made to this one. I've also felt like factory images are just so much more stable for me than OTA or AOSP. I find I always have issues with flashable zips after a few weeks and have to start fresh.
Thanks for the images...keep 'em coming, and I'll keep downloading them

Without you it was impossible!!!
Is it safe to flash from 17.1.A.2.55 or is it possible that there will be any problems?

Stock messaging app definitely isn't there. Why bother removing it?
Edit: Yikes a lot of the UI hacks for xposed are likely going to need updating. 314 breaks the hidden apps slide out menu (not the fault of this rom developer, but I'm sure it could be important for some other users planing to upgrade from 402).

Thanks for the feedback. It was not removed. When I tested the rom, I noticed the missing stock messaging app and reported it to dev. However, when you look into the rom's system\priv-app, the conversation.apk is there so it had us both stumped as to why it is not getting flashed.
Hopefully, we'll get the fix from the dev soon.
Thanks again for reporting.

It seems to work great otherwise. I just rolled back to my backup of .402 because I got used to how my UI was setup using GEM and Xperia Xposed modules. Once they get updated (GEM in particular) I'm sure I'll be back.

I see your point and I myself use these modules. However, different people have different preferences. Therefore, some devs refrain from adding mods like Xposed in the rom as users can add themselves after flashing the rom. I know that @dipesh1502 has plans to provide add ons (themes, sound mods etc.) in Aroma in Themes and Apps section. So, I'm sure he can consider your request.
pretend that i already have Recovery (i'm in RomAur 4.0 latest, build .314) Do i need to flash DuoRecovery?

Yes, you have to flash recovery after every 314 rom flash otherwise you'll end up with no recovery and this is speaking from personal experience lol.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I did this once yesterday too when I was rushing. On the plus side nuts recovery installer still works like a charm in 314, so its not the end of the world if a person forgets.
Stock is supposed to be stock as in the original my friend,
how to get back the original font and message app?
otherwise nice work

I will post it asap when i get the solution..apology for the inconvinience
If the apk is still in the folder, cant you just manually install the App?
BTW, IMHO Xposed should be preinstalled.
Oh, and it would be awesome to link Nut's thread in the op when you say "install recovery" it's a hassle to search the thread on the phone
Tried installing the app from system\priv-app folder but it wouldn't have it.
anyone got an extracted apk that works ?
