[JB][412][CWM] ClockWorkMod 6.0.2.8 (FREEDOM for EUR-xxx)

tested and confirmed that after "Unlocked" is shown in hidden phonemenu(dial 3845#*880#) using fastboot oem unlock or adb reboot oem-unlock, we got access to install recovery from root shell in recovery or during regular bootup.
updated - now uses latest 6.0.2.8 + fixed adb usb in recovery when connecting to pc.
pre-required
- unlock bootloader , if you got a EUR-xxx in Settings->about phoné->software version, otherwise it seems you cannot unlock your model.
(adb reboot-bootloader ; fastboot oem unlock -> enable unlock -> wait 30sec -> remove battery)
Some notes on Unlocking bootloader
- try and make sure your phone is fully charged (100% if possible, this might do good for the unlock mechanism to work)
- remember, if you s/w upgrade menu has bootloader state: unlocked - it is ok,
- if hidden dialer menu(3845#*880#) says Unlocked, it is ok.

- rooted v20a device (follow instructions from here ) (new easier root method)
GUIDE:
1. when you are running unlocked bootloader and is rooted goto step 2.
2. download attached zip files and extract content to internal sdcard location
3. use adb shell or terminal from market and execute the commands below
4. you are now running with native CWM recovery and unsecure boot, which enable adb root at boot instantly.
5. boot into recovery, by rebooting device and hold VOL-DOWN during bootup. (from power-off = keep holding vol-down during power on)
execute these 2 commands for recovery image install
Code:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery-6028.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
or see screenshot here

do this at your own risk, and do NOT try this on old 4.0.3, which is not with unlocked bootloader, and you are required to install KDZ again.
note: unsecure boot is not included anymore, as it was beta v20a based.

well, do you know bootloader is not already officially locked?
maybe its the BETA that opens but official will relock it, like htc, so your warranty is broken.
but no, i do not know when "fastboot oem lock" will ever work or not.

But when it gets relocked by flashing another ROM, they can't really find out it has been unlocked in the first place, right?

the steps are as simple as explained, 3 commands and you are using CWM native, which replaces stock now, so it works with VOL-down to start and so on.
so all you do is unlock + root it like explained.
i can confirm the "Unlocked" feature remains, i have flash v10h 4 times now, and i only unlocked my device once.
try to unlock..but fail...can u explain clear step for unlock..BTW, thanks for ur work

patience?
fastboot oem unlock
answer question on screen
wait 30 seconds
unplug usb
unplug battery and let it reboot
and check you got "Unlocked" in hidden phone menu.
i did nothing else i believe, besides experiment a little with pressing buttons after i select unlock on screen, but i doubt that had any effect.
others did not report they did?

for making this process possible:
@beaups, @Dees_Troy, @jmz,
@wolfaas12345, @CurbThePain,
@rbheromax, and @greeneyes2910
Prerequisites
ADB & Fastboot (Also, add ADB to PATH)
HTC Drivers
An account with HTCdev (if you're not registered, you can do that here)
Enable Developer Options
If 32bit - TWRP image
If 32bit - SuperSU binary
If 64bit - PhilzTouch_Recovery image (You'll need to extract the recovery.img from the .zip)
If 64bit - @rbheromax's 64bit Rooted Kernel
Let's get to work.Unlocking the bootloader (This process is the same for 32bit and 64bit devices)
Power down the device
Hold the down volume and power buttons at the same time. This will boot you into hboot
Using the volume rocker select FASTBOOT and press the power button
Connect the device to your computer
Open cmd and ensure that your device is recognized by typing: fastboot devices
You should get something similar to the following: FA4AJxxxxxxx fastboot
Now type, fastboot oem get_identifier_token , this is your token you'll need for HTCdev
Minimize cmd and go to: htcdev.com/bootloader/ and select the HTC Desire from the dropdown
Skip to Step 5 and in cmd right click and select Mark, select the token starting at the top <<<< and ending at the bottom >>>>> (everything in the red square, see image), paste this into the textbox at the bottom of the page and submit
Go to the email address you used to register with HTCdev and there will be an email with an attachment named Unlock_code.bin, download the attachment
In cmd, cd to the folder you've downloaded Unlock_code.bin to
Now type, fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
As I said above, this will erase everything on your phone (pictures, sms, videos, apps, etc) and restore it to stock, so I hope you made backups
Your device will now have a screen that asks if you want to unlock the bootloader, use the volume rocker to select and the power button to enter
Once it's done your phone will reboot, power back down (or remove the battery and reinsert) and boot to hboot, your device should now say **** UNLOCKED **** at the top
STOP!
LET'S BE CAUTIOUS AND MAKE A BACKUP OF STOCK BEFORE WE DO ANYTHING ELSE!
If your device is connected, disconnect it
Power down the device
Hold the down volume and power buttons at the same time to boot into hboot
Using the volume rocker select FASTBOOT and press the power button
Connect the device to your computer
If you closed cmd, reopen it and cd to the folder that you downloaded openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-a11.img or extracted recovery.img to
32bit - Now type: fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-a11.img
64bit - Now type: fastboot boot recovery.img
Tap Backup
Change the name of the backup to something like "Pure Stock"
Swipe to Back Up
Installing TWRP/PhilzTouch
If your device is connected, disconnect it
Power down the device (if you're still in TWRP from making a backup, back out to the main menu and tap Reboot, then tap Power Off)
Hold the down volume and power buttons at the same time to boot into hboot
Using the volume rocker select FASTBOOT and press the power button
Connect the device to your computer
If you closed cmd, reopen it and cd to the folder that you downloaded openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-a11.img or extracted recovery.img to
32bit - Now type: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-a11.img
64bit - Now type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Let it do it's thing and now you have TWRP or PhilzTouch installed on your device
Getting Rooted (32bit)
Power down your device if it is booted (or by taking the battery out and reinserting it)
Hold the down volume and power buttons at the same time to boot into hboot
Using the volume rocker select RECOVERY and press the power button
This will boot you into TWRP
Open cmd and cd to the folder that you downloaded UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip
Now type: adb push UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip /sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip
In TWRP tap install and in the file browser tap sdcard and then tap UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip
Flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip
Getting Rooted (64bit)
Power down your device if it is booted (or by taking the battery out and reinserting it)
Hold the down volume and power buttons at the same time to boot into hboot
Using the volume rocker select FASTBOOT and press the power button
Open cmd and cd to the folder that you downloaded HTC-Desire-510-64-Bit-Root.img
Type: fastboot flash boot HTC-Desire-510-64-Bit-Root.img
Then: fastboot reboot
Congrats, we're done!
So... what do I do now?
Check out the stuff going on over in the development sections of course!

Great guide. That process worked for me, except SuperSU 2.16 is an old version and when the Play Store updated the front end I had a hard time updating the binaries. Maybe update the link to the newest 2.40 SuperSU or is there a reason I should use the old one?
Plus for anyone who is cautious (I believe there are different versions of the hardware) they can use the command "fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-a11.img" to test and boot to the TWRP. If anyone doesn't want to change their recovery because they don't have a backup yet, then from the booted recovery. Backup the system to and SD and then install the SuperSU zip and it will be rooted. Then use flashify to backup the original recovery and kernels.

No, but flashing a kernel with write protection removed will allow you to manipulate system files, so you can remove bloatware and customize your device.

I guess you do this via fastboot?
You can flash and back up boot.img's via a free app from the Play Store called Flashify

Boost Mobile Desire 510
I have the Boost Mobile variant of the Desire 510, model number OPCV1. Before I follow through with this I am wondering if I have the 32 bit or 64 bit processor? I cannot seem to find a straight answer online anywhere. I have seen some apps that you can download and run to find the info but I do not have enough space to download them with all this crap that comes preloaded, hence my reason for wanting root. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

Recovery
Hi, first of all thanks for your tutorial !
I did all of the instruction but after installing custom recovery, it's impossible to get into it.
When i choose recovery, it reboot on normal mod.
What can i do to flash su binary ?
Thanks again !
Edit: After long research i finally understood there are 2 kind of 510... 32 & 64bits & i have this last one so i probably can't access to my recovery beacause of that... A bit disappointed, i had only 4gb free space right now on my phone & can't use an apps to link my sd.
I just successfully rooted my Virgin Mobile (VM) HTC desire 510 with this guide, thanks so much! I verified this with root checker basic. I came upon some hiccups, but that was because I had to follow every single step. I'm hoping the bloatware won't come back, I'll keep you guys updated. Is there a list of safe bloatware that I can remove?

I just successfully rooted my Virgin Mobile (VM) HTC desire 510 with this guide, thanks so much! I verified this with root checker basic. I came upon some hiccups, but that was because I had to follow every single step. I'm hoping the bloatware won't come back, I'll keep you guys updated. In my opinion all carrier bloatware on the phone you can just remove. Same with most of the Google apps and most of the HTC apps. There's this thread.
when i try to run fastboot,keep getting message adbwinapi.dll is missing from computer! can anyone help with problem?

1. Unlocking the bootloader
Now this one will be tricky. Some phones are force-locked which means It can't be unlocked.
However, If the phone's bootloader is simply locked, It can be unlocked easily.
Go to http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
And select Xperiaâ„¢ E1.
After that, enter a VALID E-mail address, this is where Sony will send you a link, which will look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click on "Click here to proceed"
Now something will look like this:
You need to enter your IMEI here, you can find the IMEI on Xperia E1's box, or in the Settings (Settings->About phone->Status)
Or simply typing *#06# on the phone keypad.
THERE'S NO TURNING BACK, YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY DOING THIS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
After 1-2 minutes a mail will appear in your E-mail, with a verification code.
Yay, we have a code! Now what's next?
We need to download Flashtool. (It's roughly 170mb)
Are you kidding me?!
Flashtool: (uploaded.to)
http://ul.to/7zmty1iv
Flashtool: (.torrent)
http://www.flashtool.net/torrents/flashtool-0.9.19.8-windows.exe.torrent
After It's downloaded, we need to install it. It will take about 4-5 minutes, depending on the PC.
Great! Now we have Flashtool installed. Now we need to unlock the bootloader.
Find and run Flashtool (Flashtool64 If you have a 64-bit OS)
It's great, isn't it?
Connect your phone to the PC, in flashmode mode.
How to do Fastboot mode? Turn off your Phone completely, while the cable is still on.
Wait for the phone, 'till It displays the battery progress.
Now hold the following buttons on the phone: POWER+VOLUME DOWN
Do this until the LED turns GREEN.
Great, the phone is now in Flashmode!
Now, click on the 2nd Icon on Flashtool "BLU"
After that
Paste the unlock code which Sony sent to you, and click on unlock.
You'll get bunch of errors but just ignore that.
Voila! Your phone's bootloader is now unlocked. Which means you can now flash recovery.
If you want to relock the Phone, the steps is the exact same, just click on relock.
2. Rooting the phone
Every phone can be rooted, but since the new updates It is hard to find a working root method. I'll show you both methods to root the phone.
1. Towelroot method
The following method only works on these Firmwares: 20.0.A.1.21(Jelly Bean 4.3), 20.1.A.0.47 (KitKat, 4.4.2)
Please check the firmware to make sure you have the correct Firmware (Settings/about phone)
If not SKIP this and check 3. Flashing Recovery tutorial on this topic!
First go to https://towelroot.com/ and tap on the Lambda logo, and install it!
Open towelroot and tap on "Make it ra1r"
If It says it is successful, go to Google Play and search & install SuperSU
Open the app and update It, If the app asks for It.
If you have Recovery installed choose TWRP, But If you don't have Recovery installed choose the other one.
The phone will restart now, and voila, your phone is rooted!
But wait a sec, what about those people who don't have those specific Firmwares?
Check 3. Flashing Recovery, It's mentioned there.
3. Flashing Recovery
With Recovery you can re-root your phone. This is good for newer Firmwares, which are no longer function with Towelroot.
Or you can backup your entire phone, just in case you are flashing other ROMs, or tweaking Android.
To flash Recovery, you need an unlocked bootloader.
You will need ADB, and the boot.img file for your Device. Make sure you download the correct kernel, or otherwise your phone won't boot! (It will boot, but bugs would occur)
ADB: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MKgCbUM0itVVFWRC02Q0VBQnc/view
PhilZ Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e1/general/philz-touch-recovery-xperia-e1-t2941831
TWRP Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e1/orig-development/kernel-falconss-custom-kernel-t3318209
Open up the Command Prompt (type CMD in Windows, and hit enter)
Navigate to the ADB folder, in this case, I copied the adb files to c:/, which the command would be cd c:/adb
Now, copy the boot.img you downloaded, and paste It to the adb folder
Turn off your Phone, connect your USB cable to the phone and PC, and turn on the phone with Fastboot mode (Power + Volume Up)
If the LED is BLUE then It is in fastboot mode
Now type in:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
And voila, It's Done!
To enter the Recovery, Power + Volume Down, or just tap the WALKMAN button multiple times, when you feel a vibration you can stop pushing the buttons.
The recovery is the most useful utillity in Android, you can re-root your phone, backup your entire Android system, and so on!
Rooting the Phone with Recovery:
with PhilZ recovery:
Advanced->Re-Root System (SuperSU)
Restart your phone, and download SuperSU, and install It, when It asks for the update, just tap on TWRP, It will restart the phone in Recovery mode, and the root will be finally finished.
with TWRP recovery:
Download SuperSU on Google Play, and update Binary
When asked how to update the binary, just tap on TWRP
You will get root the next boot.
Modes on the Xperia E1:
With Cable (PC):
POWER + VOLUME UP (BLUE) (fastboot)
POWER + VOLUME DOWN (GREEN) (flash mode)
Without Cable:
POWER + VOLUME DOWN | PhilZ/TWRP Recovery (GREEN/ CYAN)
WALKMAN | PhilZ/TWRP Recovery (GREEN/ CYAN)
On newer CM/LineageOS builds you'll have to use POWER + VOLUME UP, as tapping the Walkman button no longer works!
Pictures for the tutorials will be included soon, It is for people who can't understand English (Or people who are not familiar with android), hope this will make things much easier.
If I helped you, please hit the THANKS button, It is free!

It might be that Flashtool does not support E1 100%. I never had any issues with re-unlocking the Bootloader, as I never tried it before.

Suggestion on how to fix bootloader unlock problem after relocking with flashtool
NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE DONE A TA BACKUP. ALWAYS DO A TA BACKUP BEFORE UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER
In this case you should try to restore your TA Backup and you should be able to re-unlock the bootloader. The TA Partition is one of the parts that control the unlocking of the bootloader and the other being aboot, rpm, sbl1, tz, dbi.

Well, i already solved this issue by flashing this Relock bootloader with flashtool.
check your status now "Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status" If it says No("No" doesn't mean to stop you), you can try to unlock your bootloader again by flashtool refer to the first page, and check your rooting status again.
sorry for my bad english

Required Help with connecting phone to PC in order to root

I am trying to root my device, to the final goal of installing a Nougat build on it. Been browsing through lots of guides, including this one which looks rather friendly:
https://www.idroidspace.com/how-to-root-htc-one-m7/
The problem is that the software did not recognize my phone.
I have enabled USB debugging. the PC detects the phone, I also have HTC Driver installed (downloaded HTC Sync Manager).
I also unlocked the boot-loader in the past, with success to the best of my knowledge (anyway I can confirm?).
Another problem I got that may come from the same source is that when opening command prompt and putting ADB Devices it wouldn't detect anything.
I have already old version of TWRP installed but I cannot flash the nougat from it, and in order to update the TWRP I wanted to root the device.
Am pretty much a beginner but can follow orders.

It's a waste of time to root if you're planning to flash a Nougat rom. It's a well spread misconception when ppl say "I want to root my phone" cause you're not rooting the phone, you're rooting the operating system on it (the rom). Most custom roms are pre-rooted so when flashing it on your phone you'll already have root. If you flash a non-rooted rom over your already rooted rom, you'll loose root hence why it's a waste of time to do it now. The only thing needed to flash a custom rom is a unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery.

Make sure you have the latest drivers version. ADB commands are only usable when booted in the OS with usb debugging turned on and you also need to unlock your screen once after connecting the phone to your PC. TWRP 2.6.3.0 is really outdated. This version does not have the required kernel to support the fstab file system used by recent roms. You need at least twrp 2.7.1.1, or the latest version: 3.1.N0.0
Are you using the original usb cable that came with the phone? If no you might want to double check if your usb cable is capable of data transfer (there are usb cables that only have the +5v and ground connections for charging but not the data+ and data- connections). Try another usb ports/cable.

You need to uninstall HTC sync manager, otherwise it will not work.
Or eaven better way is to install just naked drivers instead of sync manager.

There are some "globalised" china roms which are doing a decent job (with notifications sound fixed, chinese bloatware removed and google services installed), I recommend the one made by Francko76.
Also you can try all the treble stuff out there. I only tried two GSIs so far and I went back to Francko´s build.
Anyway I´m like you looking forward z6 pro dedicated custom roms.

7.Press volume - and select Reboot recovery, then press power button
8.Enjoy

At step 4 I'm getting "fastboot: unknown option -- disable-verity"
Any idea?

NVM, just updated the adb tools and now everything is good
Restore stock bootloader?
Hello, I recently went through the whole process of unlocking bootloader, installing TWRP recovery and flashing ROM, and I am at version 11.0.350 ST ROW currently.
The ROM works fine, but now at every boot I am greeted by the "The boot loader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed. <snip> Press power button to pause boot/continue" notice.
According to google, it's apparently a result of the bootloader unlocking process.
I tried to lock the bootloader again using "fastboot flashing lock", but then the phone stopped booting normally. It got stuck at the boot logo (which I believe means bricked?).
It wouldn't work until I unlocked bootloader and reflash the ROM.
So what I want to ask is, is it possible at this time to restore the bootloader to stock to avoid that "boot loader unlocked" notice and possibly become eligible for warranty again?
