Case or Sandpaper on the Backside? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

.... Cause it's slippery..... My hands are not small..... But I think with a case on it it will not fit anymore in the pockets..... So I plan to carry it without any protection.... So I say in the headline IT HAS A SLIPPERY BACK... So friends if there any good issues out there?!

Bear motion is a pretty slim case. Way more grippy than the slick back. I hate cases and never drop phones but this thing is slippery. Case adds minimal bulk.

Flygrip

Bear motion is what I use but if u are looking for good protection too I would not choose bear motion

Slickwraps / dbrand

Leather back

Slick wraps sells a Horween leather wrap and it adds minimal thickness.

Diztronic Full Matte Flexible TPU Case, fits my sweatpants pockets but sometimes it pops out so make sure you keep it safe.
the case gives my phone a great look and protection.

http://www.amazon.com/Spigen®-Perfe...8&qid=1424060642&sr=1-3&keywords=nexus+6+case. People who look at my phone and hold it tell me I should get a case.

I like cases for the best protection. Using Spigen Neo Hybrid and it's great Bumper + TPU is a great combination and doesn't add much bulk

Casemate Tough Case - Pics/Review

The Tough cases has always been the best I've owned. They have changed the design up for our Note 2 (just like trident, I feel these companies are debuting the latest and greatest with our phone). So I've reviewed it below.
Made a separate review thread here, easier to post a bunch of pics.
http://www.teamvenum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=686
Thank you for the info.
My 2 cents: can't see how this is "tough". I used to work in Retail and we carried these Case mate's for other phones, and i can't see how it is better protection than an Otterbox (though sadly they make ugly cases for all the phones I own), or even Ballistic. They seem kinda of .. regular.
40 bucks seems kinda high for a case like that...I know eventually they will come to amazon for a lot cheaper..
For my S2 I had every case there was and it was always the best for being rugged, slim, and awesome grip. The name may make it sound like a contender with the otterbox defender, but its certainly more in the commuter class if thats what your looking for. The design looks different than previous versions, just hope it works out in a good way.

I will say one thing about case-mate, they seem to have good build quality from past products I've tried. They have less pronounced mold lines etc.
Otterbox's are riddled with ugly mold lines everywhere or at least their recent products.
Oops didnt see this thread when i created mine hehe ...
Pre-order is available @ shop andrioid Canada. Another promising looking case. Reminds me of a mix of the Body Glove and Diztronic Case.

It also says "Available!" I'd love this case, but 40 bucks for it without any reviews? I'll wait a week and let Youtube and the forum populate a little ^.^ hehe. But I LOVE the tough case! I had it for another phone and it was great. hehe.

I've dropped my S2 multiple times from high, even on the road once getting out from the car. Never had a scratch on my device. IMHO, the greatest feature of the tough case is the grippiness of the textured back. None if the hybrid case out there have this grippy texture. Even the ballistic or otterbox have a somewhat smooth back.
Been waiting for this case for a long time!

Just got my tough case. I am nothing but impressed. This thing is so light and thin! Barely feels like there is a case on the phone yet has great protection, all the corners are well protected, none of the edges pull back like EVERY other case ive had. Will post pics and review in the OP tonight when I can.

Got tired of waiting for a UAG case order so I've decided to order a tough case today.
Took the blue one and It looks great.
You can buy it for 20$ instead of 40$, all you need to do is to put in your order the coupon code "friends50" and It takes off 50% of your case order. Enjoy!!
I can't wait for it to arrive to my country.
Can someone tell me the size of the hole in the case around the headphone port? I have a set of Shure In-ear monitors I use and they have a fat body around the plug, about 3/8".
I have modified the Samsung case to make it work, but looks ugly. Kinda matches the side I cut to get the flip cover to work with it.
Looking for a new case and this one just came on my radar.

The cutout actually looks like its exactly 3/8 of an inch(just used a measuring tape). is the plug just shy of 3/8?

I put calipers on it and it hit 3/8" without squeezing it. I may have to shave a bit off the plug, there is a lot of rubber surrounding the plug.
Thanks for measuring...

Best "grippy" case???

I've got the Case-Mate Tough Case and even though it has the little bump pattern on it it's way too slippery... it's not rubbery feeling like it looks in the pictures...
And I've spent the better part of a week reading reviews and searching and can't find a good answer... So what's the best case for GRIP? Preferably it should give decent protection, not be too big (I don't want something like the huge Otterbox or Seidio Active) and have a lip on the front to protect the screen.. other than that I just want it to actually be GRIPPY!!! This phone is huge (it's awesome, but huge) and I really need some grippiness on the back so that I can one-hand it... I've looked at the Aegis, Ballistic, UAG and others but there are mixed reviews as to the actual feel of the outside. I want something that I can lay it in my hand at a slight angle and it won't just slide off... The Case-Mate really checks all the boxes except for the fact that it's just so dang slippery!!
So if you've personally got a case/used one that you find exhibits exceptional "grippability" then toss a dog a bone and hook me up..
Thanks everyone..
(and if you're in the market for a Case-Mate Tough case then I'll make ya a deal....although it's prolly not worth the shipping..lol)
Not sure but I use a Body Glove and its pretty grippy around the sides (not so on the flat back tho). I remember hearing of some adhesive kind of like Flygrip but cheaper kind of like tape/sticker which you could apply to all kinds of different things altho they made some specifically for phones and other devices to give you a better grip .
First off I'll take that case mate if you're in North America definitely not worth the shipping otherwise. Anyway I would assume any tpu case is as grippy as you're going to get but there's a protection trade-off obviously. You could try getting a flygrip or a sling grip. I have the fly on my otterbox/zl setup and it's definitely the best one handed solution I just feel super nerdy using it lol.

PM me if you really want the Case-Mate, I'll prolly keep it until I find something better though, it's slippery but at least it's protected when it falls.. And yeah, I had a Fly Grip, but I made the mistake of selling it with the phone I had at the time, plus I pocket this slab of a phone and I'm not sure I could handle the extra bump on the back...
No rush I'm just a case hoarder lol. If you find something else hit me up.

I don't think anything comes close to a cheap gel rubber case for sheer grippines. There are any number of brands that can be had for 4 bucks shipped and I keep one around for when I want to sit and read manga.
They suck for sliding in and out of a tight pocket though. There is a point of being too grippy.

I went ahead and got a cheapo rubber/silicone case from Ebay.. I figure I can't go wrong trying it when it cost <$6 shipped...
I have this case in black (also a couple of other colors). It has grippy ribbing on the sides and the Android logo on the back is matte ... overall a reasonable balance between grip and something that will go in and out of your pocket.

The kickstand is kind of hard to use but I hardly ever use it. Honestly that wasn't one of the reasons why I decided to buy the case. I had one of these cases on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 before I bought my GN2. I like that my phone feels solid in my hand, it's not too bulky, it's easy to put on/take off and it offers great protection. I already had one drop when my GN2 fell out of my jacket pocket from about three feet to asphalt and the only wrong was my case had a small scough mark. I like the case. This is just my opinion.

Yes, the case has a raised lip around the screen. The lip will keep the screen off a flat surface like a table; it is a significant lip. There are many pictures of this case in the thread where people are showing photos of their cases. Here is a youtube.com video that is pretty good.

[Q] Cases you are using

I am curious to what cases people are using and recommend. I am currently uaing otterbox case I bought when I got my phone and the corners are starting to peel back a bit, so I feel like I need a new case. In my area they don't have much for good protection cases that aren't to expensive.
I'm using the poetic atmosphere case. It has a little lip that lifts the screen off a table when face down, decent grip, and full back coverage. All while being really slim. I had a problem with my first one coming apart, but poetic sent me a brand new case that was "improved". And I don't think they were lying, the new case holds tight to the phone and is staying together nicely. Plus, they are cheap on Amazon.

I've got the Cimo Grip back in frosted clear, and my wife has the amCase with bumper(because it is pink ) I like the Cimo and have heard good things about the Poetics, I will say though that the amCase one doesn't have the power cut out so you cannot use the IR blaster. Altough it is easy to cut out with an exacto knife or the like.

poetic atmosphere during the weekends and an otterbox commuter or defender during the work week if im out on jobs with my employees.
Just some cheap case for 3.99 from ebay, works well enough that screen does not touch when facing down and as well as the camera. IR blaster works and volumes buttons are easy to press.

2. Somewhat slim
3. Not too pricey

I have the case from the first link you posted. I've had no problems whatsoever thus far. The belt clip is really secure and the silicon not only covers the phone but it serves as a border around the screen so if you drop it the screen won't even touch the floor really. The case is decent too. Definitely worth $13.

It's not bulky. You can trust the reviews on amazon for the case. It's worth it especially for the price.
I have the otterbox defender series. Due to the design of the case, There's a bubble in the screen protector. I simply poped it out and replaced it with a zagg screen protector. Search ebay, I only spent $30. Still waterproof and my 3 kids literally throw my phone across the room and it's still in brand new condition

I almost went with the iBlason, but ended up going to Unicorn Beetle route. It's a nice case and I really like it. It's a tough TPU throughout with a polycarbonate slab on the back. Looks pretty nice and feels good in the hand--quality materials. The only thing is you have to shave the little inner button nubs off with a razor blade as the Amazon reviews mention.
Good luck deciding.

I own both, as well as just about every other case made for our phone...
I hate the i-Blason, and have since I took it out of the package. Nothing really wrong with it, just not my taste. Inner portion is too mushy, hard to slip it in and out of my pocket, and I don't think anyone would call it "thin".
For "thin and rugged" you are far better off with the SUPCASE. Also look at the TUDIA Ultra Slim Melody.

There is no "best case". The best case is the one YOU like. You might want to look in the accessories section theres a ton of threads already http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/accessories

I have the black plastic back G4 BTW. It's sturdy, not heavy and believe it will protect from a drop. Fits my tempered glass screen protector. Leather feels premium, hopefully it lasts lol. Raised front lip is minimal and is a soft rubber, to hold in place when face down I guess?
I was gonna get the carbon fiber one but this red looked too much fun, like iron man lol

That's the case I have for my G4. Doesn't add much bulk and the back has a nice texture that adds some grip. I posted some pics of it on my G4 here on imgur.
Cae that fits leather back
I just received this case and it's awesome. Fits with leather back also (T-Mobile, Brown)

I got the same case love it except is there a trick to get the case off easily... The battery door always comes off with it and is still extremely hard to take off.

I have yet to encounter this issue so I can't say there's a trick to removing. I usually just start pulling it off from one of the corners and working my way to the next corner. Are you using a leather back?

I have the Spigen case that the OP linked to. Great case. Most Spigen's are. The only drawback to that case is that it takes the sexy back of the G4 and just makes it black. I currently have this one on my phone.

Looks and protects great but the hole for the buttons on the back is pretty deep so you really have to press your finger in there to get to the buttons.
Incipio DualPro here. Had one on my G2, figured just stick with the same here.
I just picked up a Case-Mate Naked Tough for my leather backed T-Mobile version. It seems durable and I like that it is transparent.
Anybody tried I-Blason with the clear back for the G4 Leather?

I bought the Quick Circle case, Ringke Slim, and a generic Carbon Fiber. I like them all but I'd have to say the Ringke Slim is my favorite. Light protection and great feel to it. Heres a picture of the new Carbon one. Not too bad.
did you try our our product ?
it is high end leather , but maybe expensive to you
I use the Spigen Exact Fit case. Slight slimmer and not bulky.

I have the Mint color. Looks amazing with my white back.
I have that case. Love it! Like the texture on the back.

I have the Spigen Neo Hybrid in Gunmetal and I love it. Nice texture on back... Not bulky at all... Looks great.
