Can you please elaborate this line which mentioned ! .. its bit confusing to me
"When the notification COM port searching and preloader handshake... appears,Unplug the the devices and turn it off, don’t press the power button, connect your phone and PC with USB wire. "

Thank you for this tutorial, just what I need. Step 1 is to see what your current MAC address is and write it down. However my MAC adress changes with every factory reset I make. How do I know for sure what my hardware MAC address is?
Best regard, FoOtY

You don't need to know what is your "exact" mac address (it should be writed in factory....but they don't).
You can simply use one of the random ones generated from your phone(best way) or go to THIS SITE and get one..
Don't worry:there are BILLIONS of conbinations possible...

It happened to me me too(i don't know why) but the third time it worked.....
...another possible option is to do it with stock rom(to be honest i've done it some weeks ago and i dont remember if i was on EMUmI or Stock rom....)

I think you have done it in stock ROM ... not on EMUml ....
Becoz we cant find "Settings-About phone-Status" keep note of your "WLAN MAC address" - here in EMUml ..... its in stock ROM u find it ...
For EMUml we need to goto "settings-WLAN-Advanced settings-WLAN MAC address"

Hi Arcatarc,
I've the same problem, writing to nvram is ok, deleting folder is ok but still have random mac address whenever I on/off wifi.
Could you give offset in file where MAC is stored, I'll try to place correct address by hexedit.
Is it storred in wifi or wifi_custom?

Guys,
After two days I think, that I've found the solution - permanent
What is important:
- files: wifi & wifi_custom must have rights: r-- r-- r-- (see photo)
- owner & guid must be empty (see photo)
- need 2 apps: hex editor & es file explorer installed
- the most important thing is correct MAC ADDRESS, it must start with 000820XXXXXX use online generators like:
http://www.miniwebtool.com/mac-address-generator/
So, what we need to do:
1. Important - (Turn ON WIFI), delete files "WIFI" & "WIFI_custom" from folder "data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/" to have them recreated with correct owner & guid rights after restart.
2. Restart phone.
3. Turn off wifi.
4. Use hex editor to edit file or better mobileuncle tools (engineer mode ->(MTK)-> connectivity menu-> wifi ->nvram). Look at attached photos, You will need to insert own MAC address to file. You have two ways:
- by Mobileuncle under "Byte String Access" set
addr value "4"
length value 6
Press "Read", should show you some random generated mac address, delete it and place your new valid MAC Address & press "Write".
That should save your new mac, you can check if that was saved by pressing "Read", should show you your new mac address.
- by Hex editor (give it root rights in options) and open "WIFI" file, go to offset $4 and insert your new mac address & save file. (see photo)
5. We need to set correct rights on both files "WIFI" & "WIFI_custom". I've used "es files explorer" and set all only as Readable. Remember do this on both files. Don't change owner & guid rights, must be blank.
PS.
I've messing around quite long, so I hope that I wrote the steps in correct order. If that doesn't work, try to turn on wifi after saving new mac address, or restarting between some steps etc.
I've used mobileuncle but I know that some of you had problem, so I've wrote the hex editor way.

Wifi "Unable to Scan for Networks"

My wifi is always turned off, and when i enable it. It turns on for 5 seconds say "unable to scan for networks" and then turns off.
if anyone have encounter the same problem before and know how to fix it. it will be great.
thanks.
my phone is rooted and i'm runnig LCR 1.8.2
my phone does the same exact thing, It has done that since the day I got it.
In my case it is a hardware problem. I got my phone on ebay, I registered the phone with acer and had a 1 year warranty, but they said I had to take it back to the store where I got it from, so a warranty claim with acer isn't going to get you anywhere.
My liquid got the same problem too.
"Unable to Scan for Networks" SOLUTION - WITHOUT ROOTING
**** SOLUTION - WITHOUT ROOTING *****
I searched many forms to solve the "Unable to scan network" issue. All explained how to do it after rooting and I did not want to root my phone.
Yesterday, while playing with the phone and SDK, I could repair it by deleting "bcm_supp.conf" file. This is what I did:
1. Install the android SDK.
(make sure the <SDK>/tools path is added to the windows path variable. My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> System variable -> add the SDK path at the end of Path variable )
2. On your phone, please enable (tick mark) "USB debugging" under "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Development"
3. Connect your phone using USB to PC/Laptop. Close phone manager application if it comes up on the PC.
4. Run "ddms.bat" from <SDK>/tools directory. The DDMS application will come up and it should readily connect to your phone. (in the main screen, under Name, you should find the phone ID and SW ver. no.)
5. Go to menu Device -> File Explorer. New window will come up.
6. Here go to data -> wifi directory. You will see a file bcm_supp.conf.
7. Though it is not possible to read this file, you should be able to delete it. (at least I could delete it). You can delete the file by selecting it and then pressing red "-" on top left of the window.
8. Now close the DDMS and disconnect the USB. Enable WiFi and scan for networks. The bcm_supp.conf file will get created and you should be able to find the networks.
Please note:
1. Do this on your own risk.
2. All your previous WiFi settings are gone as you delete the file.
3. If you don't know how to install SDK, just google, you will find many forms explaining.
4. I tried to delete the file from "Terminal Emulator", but it did not allow. I guess DDMS has some special permissions.
i think this method is for the samsung galaxy S,because i tried it for my Liquid and there is no folder called wifi in /data, the only folder called wifi i found it in /data/etc/wifi and the folder is empty there is no file on it

Simple way for return S-ON

I apologize for bad transfer. I translate from native Russian into English by means of Google
As I cannot estimate translation quality Google in case of if this text will seem to someone unacceptable - write to me. I can put the instruction in Russian.
Probably there will be a person which will make comprehensible translation independently
I offer the a bit simplified instruction on return to S-ON on HIS, not demanding it is a lot of time and knowledge. It is checked up two hundred users and works on 100 %.
It was checked under WinXP, WinSeven, WinVista - all works!
IMPORTANT specification - 90 % of cases when doesn't work the given way are problems of drivers. The most simple way of the decision - to download HTC Sync, to establish, and before performance of described below procedures simply to leave program HTC Sync.
One more possible source of problems - a flash card. If installation of drivers doesn't help - replace a flash card. More often problems with a flash card arise at creation GoldCard.
So:
1. We download S-ON and is unpacked in the root catalog of disk C
2. We create GoldCard
In phone we include point Setting/Applications/Development/USB debugging
We start GoldCardTool (lies in folder C:\ADB), we press GetCID. If all is normal, below will give out Reverse CID (already ready for creation of an image).
We press in the program more low on the reference and we get on page of generation of an image goldcard.img. We enter an e-mail and it is inserted Reverse CID.
We take away from mail a file goldcard.img.
We switch phone mode in USB Mass Storage
Now in GoldCardTool we press Refresh, nearby in the list there should be our card.
We press "Load" GoldCard.img - and we load a file.
We press button Patsh MMC.
GoldCard it is ready!
Click to collapse
3. We download RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.30.405.1
To Swing it Firmware as the given "fast" way is intended on return to it!! Firmware the official.
4. We start RUU. To wait while there will be an installation window. Then without closing this window to pass in folder Document and setting\Users\% username %\AppData\Local\Temp (For users Win Vista and and Win 7 folder is to c:\Users\% username %\AppData\Local\Temp\) There we search by date of creation for last created folder and in it we find a file rom.zip.
From this archive we pull out a kind file hboot_1.13.0000_CRC_8a731c6e_0401.img It is copied it in folder ADB. Also we rename in hboot.img.
5. We connect HIS to PC in a mode Charge only. we establish an insertion (Preliminary we come Setting/Applications/Development/USB debugging and it is disconnected Debugging USB )
6. Further Setting/Power - we disconnect mode Fast boot
7. We switch off phone. We clamp a loudness key "-" and keeping it we include phone. It will be loaded HBOOT . By volume control buttons it is chosen FASTBOOT and we press the food button
8. We connect phone to the computer.
9. We come into folder ADB (we have unpacked it in a root of disk C if you haven't forgotten))). We start a file CMD.exe
10. In a command line an input digit 1 also it is pressed Enter.
Later 5-7 seconds you the owner of phone with an official insertion and S-ON!
Updatings FOTA and installation of official insertions RUU without dances with a tambourine are from this point on accessible to you. And as there are no problems with guarantee service.
Once again I apologize for problems with transfer, but English I own not so well.
The reference to an original post in Russian
Thanks for sharing
I'd use a downgrade HBOOT to come back tos-on and i succeeded

You need a HyperTerminal or other Terminal app that can connect to modem on COM port and run AT commands.
1. Connect phone by USB (phone should be on normally)
2. Enter 3845#*970# in dialer
3. Select Port Settings -> Select CP USB
4. Start hyperterminal, in COM settings select same port like in devide manager -> LGE mobile USB Serial Port, 115200bps
5. Type AT if response is not OK, change port number
6. Type at%imei, it should display your current IMEI
7. Type at%imei=x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x , where x,x,x... is your orginal IMEI number
8. Change again from CP USB -> AP USB
8. Restart
You should know that in many countries changing IMEI is illegal!

I have the same exact problem and don't know what to do about it. I don't think you can get root as that's not really a terminal??
EDIT: i just got it to work. 2 things I did differently 1) turned off airplane mode. 2) didn't change the baud rate setting to match the one in the lg mobile modem details. probably airplane mode was the problem though . Also, I used the commas, but not one at the end.

[Q] Unable to connect to Mac w/ Remote Storages via File app

Hi everyone,
I appreciate any help you can give "the newbie" here.
I swear I'm not a total moron, but I can't get this to work. I've tried searching the forums and google, and I've found posts with similar problems, but no solutions. Until I can get another computer to test this on, I don't know if the problem is with my Droid Bionic (unrooted, running JB stock 4.1.2), or my computer (Mac OSX 10.8.3) or my modem.
I would LOVE to root my phone, but I can't even get the darned thing to connect to my computer through the file app!
The phone is on the same wifi network as my computer. Both have no trouble accessing the internet. Both can ping each other (packets sent and received fine). But I can't connect one to the other.
I turn on file sharing on my computer with SMB only
select a folder on my computer to share
Assign a user and password permission to access that folder
make sure permissions for that folder are set to read and write
then go to my phone, open the stock file app
Select "Remote Storages" and "add storage"
Then I enter the IP address for the computer
WORKGROUP for the domain name
The name of the shared folder
The user name and password
then I try to connect.
And I get an alert box on the phone that says
"Network Error
There is a problem in your network connection with remote host. Please repair your network connection and try again."
I'm doing everything that's obvious to do, so I'm guessing there's something "not obvious" that I'm missing. - Anyone here had a similar problem and solved it?
Some things I've tried:
Moving the shared folder to different directories including root, desktop, and "public folder" (each time I moved it, I removed it from the shared list and re-added it)
Creating a guest account and allowing it access to the shared folder - no password needed
Creating a 2nd admin account and allowing it access to shared folders (password)
Turning off computer's firewall
Seeing if I could connect through the computer and phone's browsers (no go!)
Lots of turning things on and off (sharing, users, permissions, wireless...etc.)
Gone into recovery mode on the phone and done a factory reset and wiped the cache partition.
When I check my modem's admin page, I can see both the computer and phone listed there as connected devices. The modem sees them both, and they can ping each other. Why the heck can't I connect them to each other?
Oh, and though I don't think this is relevant, when I connect via cable in USB Storage mode, I can see the internal and external cards on my Mac just fine. They both mount as drives and I can drag stuff back and forth. - Wish I could find instructions to root THAT way!
I finally get the nerve to try to root this and get it on TMobile, and I can't get past the part that should be a no-brainer!
Any help would be appreciated.

Editing on 1/8/14 to add that the problem may be related to a Samba issue in OSX Mountain Lion. I'm also wondering if it could be an issue with my modem, which is several years old. I'm going away for about a week so I may try this on a friend's computer. I'll report back WHEN I am successful with this (because I will be!)
Can't root through Mac Mountain Lion. Use Easy Root in VB
Replying to my own post, to follow up. I was unable to connect through samba on my mac running Mountain Lion, while at a friend's house. So the problem was not the modem, but my OS itself.
I'd read that Easy Root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256439 ) using Virtual Box hadn't worked on a Mac, but I decided to try it anyway. I had to change one setting in Virtual Box from NVidia to "en1: Wi-Fi (AirPort)", and then the Easy Root worked flawlessly. When it got to the part about connecting the Bionic to the Remote Storage folder, I thought "Here we go... this is the part that won't work!" but with Easy Root running in Virtual Box, the bionic connected to the shared folder perfectly.
Mac users with Mountain Lion or above, use Easy Root in Virtual Box to root your Droid Bionic running Jellybean 4.1.2 (here's the link again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256439 ). I know there are posts by people who were able to root their droids through the Mac terminal, but I'm guessing they were on an older OS where smb still worked correctly.

IMEI and BaseBand Version Fix Works 100 %

Lately i've been watching people as well as myself screwing imei and not getting reception.
There are two cases possible
1> You screw only the IMEI
2>You screw the baseband version also ( which in some cases makes the mobile lag )
Lets start with fixing the baseband version nothing can be done with a simpler way you just have to flash the stock firmware again and the next time you boot the baseband version will appear.
Imei Fixing
Prerequisite
** Make sure you are using Stock rom and Locked Bootloader
1> Install PDA Net and CDC Drivers*
2> Install MauiMeta 3G Software*
3> Download MTK 6582 NVRAM Database* (The Chipset our phone is using )
After you are done doing all these things
1) Open MauiMeta App
2) Click on Action select open NVRAM DB, A popup will appear navigate to the database files downloaded and select the db files and select the files starting with APDB... and the next time BPLG...
3) Click on Option on App and select "Connect Smart Phone In Meta Mode "
4) Select USB COM as your host and click on Reconnect
5)After doing this switch off your phone and connect it if drivers are installed properly the phone will boot in meta mode and the window besides the USBCOM will be accessible click on IMEI Tool if NVRAM DB files are asked provide it
6) Write the IMEI from the Mobile Phones Box (Behind) in both the tabs and press Upload to flash
7) Restart Phone
Voilà IMEI Appears and you can now get Network Signal
AS THIS IS MY FIRST POST AND I HAVEN'T COMPLETED POSTING 10 TIMES IN OTHER THREADS I AM NOT ALLOWED TO SHARE LINKS FROM OTHER WEBSITE WHICH INCLUDE THE SOFTWARE DRIVERS AND NVRAM DATABASE FILE. YOU TOO CAN BE INTELLIGENT AND GOOGLE THEM.
PRESS THANKS IF HELPED!!
