Introduction:
This is pure android AOSP 4.3.1 for all variants of Kindle HDX 3rd generation devices. There is a new branch of the kernel on my github if you're interested. Please read through carefully as things have changed for the installation.

Todo / Issues worth noting:
- For Apollo, although screen rotation ultimately works, there is a glitch in the animation. This is because the apollo device's screen is rotated 90 degrees for which I have made a patch to surfaceflinger. I plan to fix this by doing the necessary pre-rotation in the hwcomposer.
- For Apollo, the smoothness graphically is not quite on par with Thor. Although games and video seem ok.
- Boot animation needs updating.
- Aroma Installer
- Integrate Root
- Battery / Power Management needs a full investigation - from the kernel to the HAL.
- Miracast
- Headphones are not working

Fresh Installation:
- Download the magic-beanz-rom-v1.0.1.zip - this file is for Apollo and Thor.
- If coming from any other ROM including HDX Nexus then I would recommend doing a factory reset.
- Be sure to backup your old ROM in case you want to revert back.
- Flash the file, it will flash the ROM and a Lean version of Gapps.
- If you want root then also flash the latest SuperSu package from -here-

Couple of questions I had
1) does it matter what gapps are used as long as it supports 4.3.x?
2) how is battery?
Thanks for your continued dev effort.

Battery seems OK, but there may be problems as per the OP.

Great to see another ROM. Can anyone let me know if screen share/wireless display works?
It doesn't on either of my two TV's in the Nexus ROM and no
audio in cm11 ROM.
Well it doesnt work.. I have no idea how to go to stock, yet stay on specific 13.3.2.3 which is best....
Are there flash able stock ROMs to go back to fire os via twrp?
Any help appreciated.

Oh hell yes, finally.
So, this uses TWRP if I read this correctly(I am doing some AP work so it's either TWRP or something else). Basically, one needs to go back to 14.3.1.0, unlock bootloader, install TWRP, and flash this ROM? I'm gonna flash back to 14.3.1.0(I am on .3.2.6 so thankfully I can go back) tomorrow and get this done. Thank you Ggow and other devs who have worked to make this happen. I also assume that you use ROM slot 1 and not the stock slot.
OH, and in the OP, the picture will not show up. I am going to try in firefox and the horrible Internet Explorer and see if it works. Does Ggow or someone else have screenshots of said ROM?
Some Clarification please:
1)I can install TWRP with ROM manager correct? Not sure how things will work for the HDX as real development just started(meaning unlocked BL).
2)IN TWRP, is a Factory Reset needed or a Format data or advance wipe. If possible, can one keep data such as documents and photos and erase everything else? Or do you have to factory reset in FireOS first...
3)Will any backup made first be saved when installing your ROM?
EDIT: No Pictures on any browser

Enjoying it so far @ggow! Couple of clarifications perhaps? For Apollo;
1) LTE / 4G appears enabled on this (and oddly enough appears to be all bands and channels), however I tried two different sims and neither detected any network (tried a few different bands etc). System settings indicate that the tablet is missing a baseband and can't read any IMEI off any sim either.
2) When you say "TWRP using exploit" - do you simply mean TWRP? People can't have installed TWRP without having used one of the previous exploits to do so... or is there something I'm missing?
Will raise the first one in the bug tracking.
Scott

If you select the language of Russian, at the entrance to the settings lte get this:
Does not save the APN settings
It is not possible to select the operator.

Basebang version unknown

This is NOT for safe strap. Its for users that flashed full on twrp recovery. Don't go bricking your kindle.

I enter the APN settings, but the profile is not created or saved!

In my experience APN settings won't save unless you have an active sim and baseband on a device... and as I mentioned before, there's currently no baseband on the devices after flashing to Magic Beanz

good to to see a new rom out (i was hoping for an 4.4 since i am on thor but @ggow said that might happen
in the future)
installed fine with full wipe
one thing i noticed is invalid sim card on lockscreen on my thor with no lte
gonna have to long time test it...
thanks @ggow for your continous fine work!
P.S. one more thing IT'S CHARGING FASTER!! (at least for me)

General Notes / Comments / Questions
- I am not sure if LTE is will work or not. I took a shot in the dark and gave it go.
- Would be interested in getting feedback on Battery life. In the Wifi advanced settings had the tablet set to turn off Wifi whilst asleep
- I checked with wakelock detector that the tablet was in fact entering deep sleep mode, all seemed good.
- Can someone please report back whether they can pair a PS3 controller with the new bluetooth stack.
- Installing Xposed with gravitybox adds some very nice functionality like the advanced reboot menu, expanded desktop. Lollipop status bar icons etc.

**To install TWRP and Bootloader**
One Click Method
by: FMKilo
Manual Method (and HashROM)
by Hashcode
Download the ROM and GApps.
Boot into recovery
>Coming from Amazon Stock OS? Wipe everything (read above)
>Coming from another CM 10.1 install? No need to wipe, but you can to be safe.
Select install and flash ROM and GApps
(in TWRP after selecting the ROM, you can select "add zip" and then choose the GApps. It will flash them both for you at the same time)
Reboot and Enjoy!
Bugs:
-The initial portion of the bootanimation is stretched and 1/2 missing. This corrects itself fairly quickly.
-The headphone MIC input is not functioning correctly yet. Work in progress.
-Virtual keyboard input on Jellybean is terrible. Needs a protocol update or something. Fixing. For now use an alternate keyboard like Swype

ok thanks, especially this early in the builds im alot more cautious then normally. didnt know if there were any major implementations that might cause havoc ( no fastboot cable, i already took my big risk just implementing twrpp etc.

Full walk through or basic idea of how I did it?
I can't remember it off the top of my head but in the morning I can get on my computer where I have what I did saved step by step.
I can tell you real quick it was on a windows 7 computer, and from there I followed Hashcode step by step directions almost exactly I think there were only two steps I tweaked to get around the fact that fast boot didn't want to recognize my device.

so you used idme bootmode 4 to get to fastboot?
I would have used the dd method if I were on windows.
Re: [rom][true tablet ui alpha build]
Ummm I typed adb shell, su, reboot boot loader, then verified I had fast boot with fastboot -i 0x1949 devices. And then followed from there.... Took me a while to realize fastboot commands wouldn't be recognized without the -i 0x1949. So I spent a good half hour tracking down drivers issues that didn't exist

Thanks for this rom, PPT, I'll definitely give it a try over the weekend and send some feedback.
Hey PPT.
Thought I'd make a forum post.
ROM works fine. If you notice overlapping of icons or whatnot in your launcher, so far it is verified that if you use apex launcher with the margins set to none everything appears normal.
I personally love the unified bar.
I'm going to ditch this for the SGT7 probably, but good ROM if you want the tablet mode!
Problem with gapps
I flashed this on top of Hashcode's Jan 15 build.
In my recent experience with CM on my Galaxy Nexus, I didn't need to reflash gapps every time I updated to a new nightly, so I didn't bother here. Unfortunately, when the system came up my google account was missing. I went back and reflashed gapps and then signed back into my account and it is all working now.
Others may want to make a note of this so that they don't have to reboot a second time.

Can't wait man, I'd love to be able to do that kind of work, but beyond the fact I'm a major newbie at that kind of thing I have no way to set up a development environment. Got one laptop and its an Acer netbook. Wish I could be of more help
I'm going to be releasing a .bat and a .sh that would automate this process of getting twrp and the boot.img on the device.

[ROM]★★[TF701T][Asus Stock Rooted][JB 4.3 DEODEX 10.26.1.18 WW][Jan 9]★★
Asus Stock Modded Deodexed ROM - 10.26.1.18 JB 4.3
You can flash this straight over Asus Jelly Bean 4.3 stock without a wipe if you want to test it – but it is a very good idea do a full wipe to eliminate issues. It is aimed at users who want a Stock Rooted experience with minimal tweaks
You must be unlocked and have CWM 6.0.4.6 or above installed to flash the Stock Rom from the internal sdcard. You must also be on the 10.26.1.18.x JB 4.3 Bootloader.
Make sure you have prepared by copying the ROM zip file to your internal SD card first.
Please Unlock using the Asus Unlock Tool first found here.
Note installing and running this app will wipe your device and void your warranty.
You can flash CWM 6.0.4.7 using the instructions here.
Direct File LInk is here.
To flash a recovery you need to have the fastboot.exe file and cwm recovery.img file in the same folder.
Right click + shift on the folder they are in and choose open command prompt here
Boot into the Bootloader by either booting with the Power and Volume Down Buttons held down until you get the 3 icons or by typing the following into the command prompt.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Then type the following commands to flash the recovery image:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Start the recovery by making sure the RCK icon is highlighted (use volume down to move) and push volume up to select.
If you need to move to the latest bootloader then manually install the WW_10_26_1_18_SDupdate file from the Asus website
In recovery choose install zip - install zip from /sdcard and maneuver to the folder you put the rom.zip (vol up and down) and select it using power button. Finally reboot when finished.
Don't forget to do a Nandroid Backup first and give the ROM 5 mins to stabilise!

This Rom is based off the latest Asus Transformer 10.26.1.18 WW release, but can be flashed on any SKU TF701T. It will work on any locale but you must be on the correct bootloader
ChangeLog from sbdags:
• Rom is DEODEXed by me
• All apps are zip aligned which frees up RAM
• Latest SuperSU binary, apk and daemon included to give root access
• Busybox installed
• init.d support
• unsecured stock kernel with adb and root support
• Added ES File Explorer and Titanium Backup to /system/app
• The following Apps & Libraries have been updated to the latest versions and moved to /system/app. Asus provided a lot of out of date versions for some reason:
Google Plus, Google Search, Google Videos, Google Hangouts, Google Maps, Google Play Store, Google Core Services, Google Books, Google Keyboard, Google Mail, Google Music, Google Drive, Google Play Games, Google Magazines, Google Chrome, YouTube, Asus MyBitCast, Asus Web Storage, Press Reader, Amazon Kindle, FaceBook, Flip Board, Zinio Reader, Miracast.
There are no other mods – please don’t ask for theming, changes or performance boosts. Those will come with CROMi-X

Yes I specialise in Asus Stock but I may consider CM 11, but typically I can tweak the stock rom to be pretty quick and optimised and Asus should bring us 4.4 at some point WHat you have to remember about CM based roms is they are very generic. Yes they offer lots of tweaks but you also get lots of bugs. When you start with an Asus rom you get stuff built for the hardware and a lot of issues are already sorted. It's a much more solid base than CM.

There is some bug on asus rom like the dock battery issue (i don't think that it's hardware because usb connection and keyboard is working) and it will help you to control totally the device if you create 2 rom for this device (and have less bug on cm11^^).
but even if you don't create cm11, thanks a lot for your work, it's good to see dev on this device and sorry for my very bad english

I don't have a dock battery bug... Well I haven't noticed one anyway. CM is from a totally different source. It will have many more bugs than an Asus based rom - trust me THe Asus kernel is generally very solid and built for their hardware. The CM one is not. The framework is also not designed to be run on Asus but is more generic so you have to make many more edits and changes to get it working. As far as I'm aware CM is in constant beta stage, you get a release candidate but only once google release the next android version. I'm not a big fan of CM to be honest but would never rule it out
So you'll be getting CROMi-X based off Asus source first.

I know that your rom for the asus tf700 is great but it's limited to 4.2.1 unfortunally(it's asus fault) but i will test CROMI-X ROM on asus tf701t. Your dock battery have never stop to charge your tab? you can see that with the widget.
In CROMI-X can you change the notification bar and nav bar color to transparent(like kitkat)? this is not the forum for i know

There is a thread in the TF700 forum for the dock battery problem where the fixes are posted. But yes if you install the xposed framework you can pretty much do all the tweaks CM offers.

That's something you'll have to send the device back to Asus for though. It's a hardware fault with the hinge that breaks the connector. I can't fix that with software.

Official CM-12.1 for Nexus Player (fugu)

This is for discussion of the official nightly builds of CyanogenMod 12.1.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash this rom. Please see https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images for information on unlocking your bootloader and restoring back to factory firmware.
You must have a custom recovery in order to install this rom. Please see this thread for more information. cm-recovery-nexus-player-fugu
You can either put this on your nexus player internal storage or use adb sideload to install.
This is a hybrid rom. Once you finish setup you will see a popup to choose your launcher. Choose "Home" if you want the default leanback ui, or choose Trebuchet if you want the full android launcher and settings.
Note:
The Nexus Remote if fully supported. If you use the LeanBack gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically at first boot. If you choose to not use gapps or use other gapps, just press the bottom button to initiate pairing.

Note:
If you use the full Android gapps you will need an OTG mouse to complete setup and for navigating some apps.
I have included Google+, Gmail, YouTube, Hangouts, and Search as they don't show up in the market currently.
Modified the updater script to enable the navigation bar and set the default density to 240. Patch is still pending to enable the status bar, so currently there is no status bar even with full gapps.

Yes sir, if you use the leanback gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically, if you don't use gapps or you try other full gapps (make sure they don't have maps), then just push the bottom button to initiate pairing.
It runs good, fast and smooth. As you mentioned mic is not working. Another issue so far, when you uninstall an apps it doesn't remove/uninstall. Thanks for your great work. Nice to see someone is working on nexusplayer.

I noticed the uninstall failure last night too. I'll try to logact and see what's wrong.
EDIT: Uploading a new gapps package had to remove the CanvasPackageInstaller.apk and just let the regular PackageInstaller take care of it
Hello, thanks for building this and the recovery. I dirty flashed this over stock and it's working good , it seems snappier than stock . Live TV through kodi plays better now , it wasn't very watchable before, even the HDhomerun view app plays the video better .. Thanks..
Hello, your cm20150420 build will not install , I get , signature verification failed . so I reflashed your build from 0419 and new gapps to fix the apps not uninstalling problem. Thanks..
I got that as well figured it was my fault... Is there a link to the older build?
Hey @dhacker29 !
I'd like to thank you for this, and at the same time ask if we had access to LeanBack App source, or if you are adding them in post-build?
Also, would you at all be interested in taking a look at creating something similar to this for the ADT-1? (The developer box that Google sent out after IO in 2014). We have ADT-1 kernel source, & a repacked CWM Recovery, but no device tree, which makes Custom ROMs fairly hard to do.

Unfortunately Google shipped the leanback launcher as a prebuilt in the proprietary blobs package so no source to modify there. Without having the adt-1 it would be hard to build a device tree. What are the specs? Processor graphics chip etc

That sucks.
Spec list here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2jlz3z/the_developer_adt1_vs_the_nexus_player_vs_amazon/
Note: they say that some have the Tegra K1, but I've had a few, and friends have a few, and I have only seen Tegra 4's.
I had previously heard of extracting a device tree from a boot IMG I don't know if that still applies, I'll try to find a link.
Its pretty awesome actually compared to the NP. If you want one, jut Google it, and fill out the ADT request form. When they ask what you will do with it, just fill I'm something like "security research/app developement", and with your history, you are bound to get one. I have links to self made CWM images, but I doubt they'd help you much. I can also provide system dumps, etc. Just let me know if your interested.

Im using xda app and I don't see the screenshot tab.
So far I installed and used the full gapps package. I found no status bar or navigation bar, and the cursor has a black box at times. Runs good though, remote to, except for voice. Using trebuchet to play with it. Are you planning on adding status bar and navigation in or do you advise using the leanback launcher? I liked using my mouse to navigate while i was on lollirock, but can't because of this and can't go backwards from most screens.

The statusbar should be present if you used the full android gapps. Also, if you want soft keys, add this to your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Then reboot.

The main target of this ROM is people with "unlocked bootloader problems". It's because it works with stock kernel and locked bootloader.
It shows only 1 sim and no sim setting. That's a bit problem for me cause' I use 2 sims
What can I do with that?

Hi.
You can use this modded version of Device Name Fix.
IMPORTANT: Install SuperSU! You need a rooted device! AOSP is NOT pre-rooted!
Download Device Name Fix (there's a Download ZIP button if you need)
Extract/copy the file dnfix.sh to /system/bin/
Update permissions of dnfix.sh to 0755
Open a Terminal Emulator and run the following commands:
Code:
su
dnfix
Feel free to share a screenshot of the result, it'd be nice to have a feedback on this.
Thank you!

Dear tuxafgmur, we have been waiting for you and your special work for long time!
Thanks a lot for coming back to this forum and for sharing your updated galaxy tab2 rom development! This forum needs you and your work!
I am personally using in both my tablets, P5110 and P3110, your kernel until today (links here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/galaxy-tab-2-unified and here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176563) : it makes a device originaly restricted to 01GHZ to be able to run properly updated software nowadays at 1.52GHZ stable! Thats amazing! Even with battery savings if properly setup is done!
Please let me know if you need specific testing of overcloked kernels with this new slim based rom! As I wrote, updated software today needs overclock with this device to run properly: that is my opinion!
Thanks again.
PS: is it possible to use this old kernel from your previous work with this new rom ?
Hi and thank you for this new rom!
I tried to mount a samba share but it seems there's no cifs mounting support this time ( older Dhollmen roms got it)

PS: is it possible to use this old kernel from your previous work with this new rom ?

Pleased to have your help. I hope it will be necessary very soon.
I don't now if the old kernel works well here, however, the new one will be available in a few days.

Hi and thank you for this new rom!
I tried to mount a samba share but it seems there's no cifs mounting support this time ( older Dhollmen roms got it)

Hello, im having a bit of a problem installing this rom. I have a custom rom installed already(bliss rom) but it a bit buggy and randomly reboots. Anyway im trying to install this rom and i have it installed to a sd card(downloaded using the tablet) reboot in the recovery, wipe everything and try to install. I keep getting an error for the zip (status 7). Im pretty new doing this kinda of stuff amd i cant seem to find any info on how to fix this. Can someone please help? Thanks.

Outdated recovery?
Also, verify the rom's .zip file MD5 sum.

Make also sure you are using the right file. There is a version for tabs with mobile data capability (having a sim card holder) called "espresso3g" and one for tablets without sim card holder ("espressowifi").
Thanks for the help guys, I found out i had the wrong file(picked the one for mobile data instead of wi-fi). After i figured that out it installed no problem.

Explain why archaic implementations in modern systems?
It is coming:"Adding OMAP4430_CPU and GPU overclick support.
This patch adds the below config variables
OMAP4430_CPU_HAS_MPU_1_2GHZ
OMAP4430_CPU_HAS_MPU_1_4GHZ
OMAP4430_GPU_HAS_MPU_384MHZ
OMAP4430_GPU_HAS_MPU_512MHZ
to enable CPU's 1216, 1360 and 1472 MHz frequencies, also GPU's 384 and 512 MHz.
The patch also ensures that the CPU never starts at boot higer than 1216 MHZ
On the other hand, it adds an interface to allow changing core voltages."
From "github.com/Dhollmen/Kernel_omap4_ti_espresso/commit/8b64123df27d0f3ea8706e198471a41400901bad"
Waiting!
Thanks again!
