OTA has come. What now? - Huawei Ascend P7

The OTA has just come. I have rooted phone with twrp recovery installed.
What to do now?
As I have read the forum, I should from http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/development/recovery-t2811965 install back “Huawei Ascend P7-L10 thanks to XQC”, and that is it?
The phone will be unrooted, so I have to root it again.

Yes,on B.609 twrp doesn't work, you must use chinese cwm translated to english and you will have not full root with stock kernel unless you flash via adb custom kernel.

The zip file (* Huawei Ascend P7-L10 thanks to XQC) on [RECOVERY][ Unofficially Open Recovery TWRP 2.8.1.0 ][ 09/11/2014 ] thread consists of two recoveries: recovery.img and recovery2.img.
I believe that I should flash recovery.img, shuldn't I?
After flasnih recovery I will just start the update.

OK, thanks. I will do the procedure now.
Regards, and thanks again.

Well, the update has failed.
I am informed to go to the http://www.emui.com/motiondownload.php?mod=restore which doesn't work.
I was able to shutdown the phone and to reboot it again.
Apon booting the phone I got the message that update has failed and by clicking on it I went to the update screen.
Looks like huawei is checking wheather the phone is rooted or something else.
What to do now?

Install stock recovery and then update through OTA. You cannot use OTA with custom recovery.

You didnt read update notes ("make sure your phone has not been rooted...").

I have installed stock recovery in the following way:
1. I have downloaded a zip file (* Huawei Ascend P7-L10 thanks to XQC) from [RECOVERY][ Unofficially Open Recovery TWRP 2.8.1.0 ][ 09/11/2014 ] thread
2. I have unpacked recovery.img from zip file
3. As a root, I have used adb reboot bootloader, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, fastboot reboot
4. Now I have downloaded and started the update
I believe that this is enough.
Do I have to unroot the phone before update?
Is the stock recovery from the twrp thread OK for this update?

Does someone know what update procedure checks before upgrade?

Well, I am still on 2.3, but I cannot go up.
After starting the update, the phone boots to the recovery, than:
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
instaling update
huawei factory resizing
update failed please try again
I have option to shutdown the phone and that is basically it.

man tell me what recovery you have currently on ?

How to check that?

Download full ROM 609 and copy dload folder to SD card. Start install process by holding vol+ vol- and power button at the same time

I cannot install official download in that way.

Let's go in this step by step!
1. Confirm which recovery you have installed, 2.3 or 3.0. If you did not flash official Emui 3.0 than you need emui 2.3 official recovery. Official recovery you can extract from official Emui 2.3 ROMs (you will need 2.3 ROM also for flashing).
2. Flash the needed recovery (if needed).
3. After downloading official 2.3 ROM, open it and check if there is a folder "dload". On that folder should be a file "update.app". Copy the folder "dload" together with it's content on the root of your SD card.
4. Go to settings -> update -> local update and start update (local update) , if local update does not work than try force update.
5. Confirm on the forum

How to confirm recovery version?

[Q] OTA update on stock ROM, but custom recovery

Good morning, all:
I just got my HTC One the other day and, in the process of transferring content from my Galaxy SIII, I rooted and installed CWM recovery, but kept the stock ROM because I liked the change from what I'd been using on the SIII (CM).
Unfortunately, in the last day or so, an OTA update was released for the One and, as I found out (and you likely know), you can't perform OTA updates with a custom recovery. The constant notifications are enough to make me want to update, besides the obvious benefits of increased stability.
I was wondering if I could flash the recovery found in the [Recovery] Stock HTC One post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2158763) to the device so that I could update? Also, would this break my root/superuser? The device is a TELUS model (if they differentiate by carrier) with software no° 1.29.661.5.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
------------------------------
UPDATE - 2:38 PM
------------------------------
Hey, guys:
Sorry for all of this noise, I figured things out and wanted to delete this thread, but can't seem to do that.
For those of you experiencing similar issues, who followed mike1986.'s Complete Flashing Guide post, the process for restoring your stock Recovery image to do OTA updates is actually super simple:
- Connect your phone to your computer and pull the backup you did of your device before flashing the custom recovery image.
- Open the folder and move the Recovery.img file to your Android SDK folder.
-Boot your device in fastboot mode (like you did during unlocking bootloader - power off the device and turn it on using power + vol down buttons and select "FASTBOOT")
-Open up command prompt ( Start > Run > type cmd and hit enter ). The window that appears is called Command Prompt. <click here to see the image>
- Navigate to [your SDK directory] (type in Command Prompt: cd c:\[directory]).
- In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
Using this method, you could flash your stock recovery back onto the device, perform the OTA, then flash the custom Recovery.img back onto your device all in the span of 5 minutes.
This is probably standard stuff for most people on this forum.
[DELETED]
Could you please post your custom recovery?
I need to do the same procedure as yours, and I am currently on same fw, from Telus.
Many thanks.

Sure thing, millicent.
Tried attaching it to the post, but that wasn't working so here's a DropBox link: HTC One Stock Recover (1.29.661.5). Happy OTA updating!
I've tried this, but the OTA update package won't install. Flashing the Recovery.img isn't enough.

I assume you're running a stock ROM, so did you delete any stock apps(i.e bloatware)? If so, you will need to NAND restore to a stock backup or get those apps back. First thing an official OTA does is check the signatures on all the files it'd expecting to be on the device and if any come back wrong or missing, update aborts.

So I was just wondering, if i install the bloatware/default apps back manually (using the .apk files) and flash the recovery back to stock. Will I be able to do an OTA update Without loss of data? If that´s possible, I wil flash the custom bootloader back after performing the OTA update.
Guys, thanks for helping me out. I've done an OTA update without any data loss, you can read about it in thishttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42122514#post42122514 Thread.

CWM Flashable B609 for P7-L10 (Complete Update Package)

Here is The Complete Update Package of The B609 Extracted from The Update.app Provided by Huawei . I Extracted It and Removed Set.Immutable.list and Added HRT Kernel for Full Root Capabilities and Made CWM Flashable Package .
Let us Begin with Preparing Your Phone .

1) First of All Download This Specific CWM Recovery for EMUI 3.0 From Here
2)Connect Your Phone To Your PC with ADB Enabled . Then Apply The Following Commands from The Terminal or CMD
adb reboot recovery
Click to collapse
then cd to the directory where the cwm recovery is .... if you are a windows user then i should be something like this
Code:
cd Downloads
then type
fastboot flash recovery recovery_cwm_emui3.0.img
Click to collapse
then Type
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
.
3) Now Download The CWM Package From Here
And If You Want Root Then Download This Package From Here
And Now
The Flashing Copy The Rom and Other Necessary Files onto External SD Card . and Reboot into Recovery
On The First Boot Into Recovery it will ask whether You Need English Language Or Chinese . Choose on Your Own Consideration :silly:
Then Wipe Data/Factory Reset or Go to Mounts And Storage and wipe What you Think Should Be Wiped .
Then Install Zip from External SD Card and If You need Root then flash the SuperSU Package Provided and Reboot and Also Choose Fix Root .
Now Just Setup Your Device .
One Word of Advice :
Some Users Reported That If The Update is Done with The Removal of Sim card Then The Motion Control Is Shown .
Please Try and Report Back .
And Now
The Credits 1) For Kernel/Recovery/Updater-Script of Se7en-Rom V1.x Goes To @natorus87
2) For The B609 Complete Update Package to HuaweiBlog.de
3) For Making The Update Package ME .
If I Forgot To Mention anyone Then Do Let me Know .:silly:
thanks for the package.
The only reservation i have is the HRT Kernel:
are there any details known about this kernel? it's older than 609 i guess; what fw is it based on?

Can I flash it from internal memory? My SD card just broke down...
How can I...
How can I know If set. immutable.list is gone or my device is fully rooted???? Since I use rootexplorer to find the file and still appears in /sbin/ folder. I follow all your instructions and files to flash B609 fully rooted
the file in /sbin doesn't have a .list extension - i think you can ignore it;
you can test for 100% by uninstalling some preinstalled g-app like G+, if it's back after a restart you're only 99%;

I have a problem me too ...
After B126 - root, B133 - root, I can't root B609. I can't install ADB & fastboot ("adb_fastboot_and_other_tools.zip" or "adb-setup-1.4.2.exe") into my PC. I read it all the instructions, tutorials, but without succes. If I try to root it without ADB, after I start Root Genius - loading Root Genius - restarting the phone at 38% and 64% - stop rooting (sad emoticon of Root Genius).
Is not the first time when I'm rooting the phone; I tried to downgrade it to B133, I put it the "dload" folder on the sd card, again without succes. I'll try to put B602 and downgrade after that at B133 ... I you have some advice, please tell me how to solve that ...

Software update via OTA arrived Unable to install because ROOT

I have already asked this question on Italian forum but no one knows me answer
Yesterday on my mate's huawui arrived update via ota CRR-L09C432B177, but my terminal for business problems and for an app I need and it only works with root, it fails to make the upgrade to the new version .
I also moddata TWRP Recovery 2.8.7.0-carrera
Is there a way to do this update?
I read that the problem is the recovery, serving recovery stocks and not the TWRP
I found on the XDA forum CRR recovery stock-l09 .... B145 from having to put in place the TWRP.
I confirm that this is correct and so I can do the OTA update?
otherwise I can put the new firmware in dload folder and perform an upgrade?
That will clear me all my data, and take me back to not having the root, right?
you need to flash the recovery of your current firmware, not the b145 one..
unroot is also recommended before flashing recovery..
in your case i would flash also the stock boot.img aswell (of the current running firmware)..
you do this on your own risk!!!
Gesendet von meinem HUAWEI CRR-L09 mit Tapatalk
@cacash
You said you need root? With B177 you can't open twrp recovery. A few guys in german forums bricked their phone with flashing twrp and trying to open it.
I tried it today to, but my mate s ended up in bootloop.
After flashing the B177 stock recovery the phone started normally.
I don't know if there's an other way to root the mate s with B177, but with twrp recovery and installing supersu zip it fails.
The EMUI Update Installer is part of the Huawei Recovery. If you replace your stock recovery it with TWRP, your phone "forgets" how to install updates.
That means you have to flash stock recovery or you can´t use any Update.APP file.
Because of the lack of support for the Mate S, the current TWRP Recovery doesn´t work with every Build. So now you habe the choose between B177 and TWRP but not both.
Let's see if I understand:
1 I should flash the stock recovery by removing the TWRP
2 do unroot
3 flash the firmware again CRR-L09C432B145
Now I should get back everything as original and I could then receive the OTA update.
All this is right?
Switch 1 and 2 and forget 3.
First you need to unroot your phone over supersu, then you should flash the stock recovery.
You don't need to flash the B145 again.
After unroot and flashing stock recovery, the B177 ota update should work.
But with B177 you cannot root your phone! If you need root, you must stay on B145, flash the B321 marshmallow update manually or wait for a new ota update which can be rooted.
Thanks for answers, now having done a long time ago I do not remember how to root to make unroot.
I do unroot directly from supersu? ("Settings" and choose the "Complete unroot option") or can I use the program can be downloaded from playstore "Simply Unroot"?
Then if all this is possible, how do I install the stock recovery?
What program do I need?
I forgot, first install the stock recovery and after I unroot, right?
Yeah you can unroot your phone with the "complete unroot option" in supersu.
For installing stock recovery you need to extract the recovery from your current firmware with the Huawei Extractor (you'll find it at xda) and then flash the recovery via fastboot with:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
First do the unroot and after unrooting, flash stock recovery via fastboot.

since then I UPDATE.APP extracted file.
I started HuaweiUpdateExtractor, but could not find Huawei's mate and I set Huawei mate (1)
then what file I have to pull out of the present?

question?
I could use the "Create flashable Zip" option
then flash the zip recovery of the stock with TWRP
you don´t have to chose anything in the Exctractor. just drag and drop the update.app into the blank space.
and no, you can´t use the "Create flashable Zip". won´t work. don´t try it. just do what we told you.
open Huawei extractor
drag and drop update.app
right click on recovery.img and extract
flash via fastboot AFTER UNROOT VIA SUPERSU
Meanwhile, a thank you I did everything as you said, and the update has been successful.
But to my amazement the restart I checked the version ...........
I found myself with CRR-L09C432B177 version software
Android version 5.1
Version 3.1 EMUI
But it was not an upgrade to macmellow
Where is the macmellow for Mate S?
Not released. There is just the beta you have to flash manualy.
for extract Mate S FW with Huawei Firmware Extractor use Huawei Mate 7, that works nice.

Yes
I did same as lokopepe but instead of outdated BETA-SuperSU-v2.66, i used newer v2.74-2-BETA-System-mode.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120
I can confirm that it works also. Most important is to remember flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.62 first.

Have you enabled usb debug in developer settings?
Thanks a ton, lokopepe and Bazilli. I can confirm following their instructions works flawlessly on B564. I have TWRP 3.0.2 and SuperSU 2.74 now, all working. You might get a bootloop after installing SuperSU v2.62, but don't worry about it and just install the next one. Should be fine then.
So, noob question time. Once a new system update appears, what would be the safest way to get it? I assume unroot and go back to stock recovery before receiving it?
Can I do full unroot from within SuperSU, or should I use the provided file? Also, how do I revert to stock recovery? I imagine it's a matter of extracting recovery.img from the full stock B564 ROM and flashing that onto the phone?

If the update is a full update package (about 1.4Gb) you don't need to go back to stock recovery to install it. You don't even need to un-root.
As it replaces all partitions with its own images in the full update, it doesn't matter. You only have to re-flash twrp and root afterwards.

its works bro..
thanxs in advance
Hi everyone,
Just to inform newbies like me, the combo to get into TWRP is :
- Volume (+)
- Volume (-)
- Power
all together at boot.
I'm on C4332B564 but cannot boot into TWRP after install.. how can I do ?
- I just unlocked the bootloader
- I flash twrp.img (3.0.2) via ADB : fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
- The phone stays in the white screen with "Phone unlocked"
- I reboot but the phone goes only in the EMUI eRecovery, not TWRP.
thanks a lot !

I think you need to rename twrp.img to recovery.img, and than "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
After that you go into recovery by pressing volume up + power.
Hello,
Do we need to move eu.chainfire.supersu-1 folder from "/data/app" to "/system/app" to keep root?

Stock recovery for Honor 9 Lite?

Hey there,
I recently purchased a brand new honor 9 lite.
It came stock with firmware LLD-L31 8.0.0.128(C432).
I unlocked bootloader. (Got code with DC Unlocker) FRP was already unlocked.
I then installed TWRP and rooted with Magisk.
So my device has full root access. However I want to update to the new firmware.
Current on my device LLD-L31 8.0.0.128(C432)-->LLD-L31 8.0.0.132(C432)

I have tried the dload>UPDATE.APP method. The install gets to 5% and then says "Software install failed!"
So really I am just looking for a way to install these updates. If it means removing TWRP and root etc. thats fine. I know how to backup everything i.e. Titanium Backup.
I am only asking here because I think I have tried all the methods that I can and I don't want to miss out on the GPU Turbo update next month. Maybe installing stock recovery would work but I can't find it and in Huawei update extractor there is not a "recovery.img" only "ramdisk_recovery.img".
Any help is greatly appreciated
Also feel free to ask me to clarify anything for you.
(This is my first ever post on XDA so let me know if i did anything wrong)
Right as you have TWRP installed on your phone then its easy enough.
Simply go to this forum thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Download HuRUpdater and follow the instructions.
Firmware files your going to need are
update.zip: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G2052/g1647/v144104/f1/full/update.zip
update_full_LLD-L31A_hw_eu.zip: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...LLD-L31A_hw_eu/update_full_LLD-L31A_hw_eu.zip
update_data_full_public.zip: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...LLD-L31A_hw_eu/update_full_LLD-L31A_hw_eu.zip

Once you have downloaded the files make a new folder on your SDCard best way is to name it to firmware so in your case it would be
LLD-L31C432B132 .
Then rename the files you downloaded like this: (-> Rename to)
update.zip -> update.zip
update_full_LLD-L31A_hw_eu.zip -> update_all_hw.zip
update_data_full_public.zip -> update_data_public.zip
now place the 4 zips HuRUpdater zip, update.zip ,update_all_hw.zip , update_data_public.zip into that LLD-L31C432B132 then reboot into twrp and install the HuRUpdater zip and follow the on screen instructions.
That should get you back to complete stock. Just remember to Factory Reset after using HuRUpdater to flash the firmware.
As for just reinstalling the stock recovery to so you could use OTA it wouldn't work like that as there would be changes to the firmware that would stop OTA updates, its best to go back full stock.
Normally i would get a new phone unlock its bootloader and root away, but since getting the Honor 9 Lite LLD-L31C432 i haven't done that i have my unlock code ready but i haven't used it.

Thanks so much. This worked, I can use this when the GPU Turbo firmware gets released aswell right?
It should work i see no reason why not however your going to need the new links for B135 when it releases. It also means you need to have trwp installed etc and redo the steps. other then that it should work fine.
Dear friends,
the quoted 3. part of download "update_data_full_public.zip" is the same as the 2. part. Where I can download the right update_data_full_public.zip for Honor 9 lite?
