[Q] Intermittent smearing (blurry) screen - LG G Watch R

Hey all,
I got this badass LG R watch for Xmas and it's never had a problem. Then a day or so ago it's started "smearing" on the screen. Anything white/lighter colour sort of ghosts or glows like it's being viewed through frosted glass.
The touch screen still works and any and all functionality is still there with no problems. It's only the view that's sort of washed out. I don't use "always on" and it's not screenburn as I've tried different watch faces and it still does it.
Worst part is: It's not permanent. It's completely intermittent and I have no idea how to duplicate it. I went to take a picture of it to go with this post, and now it's not even bloody doing it.
Not sure if it's related or not, but I've been having difficulties with my phone's OS upgrade at around the same time (4.4.3 is giving me ****s) and it's paired to that, so I don't know if that'd cause issues. Dog knows that the phone is having issues...
Any help/advice is much appreciated! Cheers!

Have run another upgrade across the phone and it appears to be bringing down the frequency of the blurriness. I'm seeing it only once or twice a day since then.
Any ideas?

[Q] blue artefacts / subpixels all over the screen

Hey!
I bought my galaxy 6 months ago. Not long after I noticed a minor issue with my AMOLED display. I could see blue "artefacts" in some bright areas of the screen from time to time. Nothing serious, just blue dots and stripes, subpixels. I even posted a picture of it on reddit (second attachment) more out of curiosity than anything but was later convinced it was probably a software issue. I did have some suspicions something might be wrong with my phone but it actually happened so rarely and the issue was so minor that I just got used to it because it didn't bother me that much.
I recently flashed dark core 2.2 along with rc6 and it got *significantly* worse. I could see blue subpixels all over the screen wherever there's bright white, generally on the lowest brightness setting. Now, I believed that the hardware got worse and it's time to ask for a replacement. So before doing so I obviously had to flash stock firmware and guess what - it all disappeared. So I flashed just the dark core again to go back to rc6 - and it was back again.
The thing is, I really love this ROM and I love the voodoo improvements that come with it. I don't think I can live without them any more. On the other hand, it might be difficult to convince people from samsung that there's actually something wrong with my phone - since it happens so rarely on stock ROM. And I think that this display defect is intensified by the screen improvements from voodoo/dark core.
My only idea is to somehow make it show up on stock ROM and send it to them just then. But is this even possible without rooting my phone? Does anyone has an idea why would these blue subpixels show up in white areas? Is it something they check with specialized equipment or do they boot the phone first to see what's wrong?
Anyway, guys if you could point me in the right direction or had any better ideas... Seriously, It would be helpful even if you said that I should just return my phone and hope for the best. I'm a student and I can't really afford to be charged for returning - what they think is - an operational phone
I attached two pictures
1. a picture of how my screen behaves after flashing the latest dark kernel
2. a picture of how my screen sometimes behave on stock kernels
I'd appreciate any help or advice

Sudden colour change for icons etc

I just experienced the oddest thing, which gave me a fright. I was messaging a friend when suddenly the predicted words and message "bubbles" changed from blue to pink. I had just installed the keyboard some hours ago and had been using it without any issues. Thinking that I might have accidentally changed the keyboard setting by tapping too quicly, I tried to change that but could not find any pink theme.
So I got out of messaging, and to my horror saw that all my icons had changed colour too, to fluorescent shades of pink, green and blue, where there should be colour. I believe there was greyscale such as white and black as well, but I reacted so quickly that I hardly saw that. Barely able to think from panic, I rebooted the phone, and all the colours went back to normal! So I quickly wiped my cache and dalvik and did my titanium and nandroid backup.
Could my poor Note be suffering from some kind of screen failure? I've read briefly of screens turning green, but mine did not, only the icons and "accents" got affected. Or could it be a virus that attacked my phone? I'd installed a handful of new apps today and have uninstalled them since the incident. I've run Lookout Mobile and ALYac but they didn't detect any threats. By the way, my battery was down to about 15 or less when that happened, though I've frequently used my phone in such conditions without any issues.
Any thoughts about what might have happened? I feel a bit unsettled and am wondering whether to flash back to stock without root, just in case the phone goes kaput and I can't turn it back on nor flash with Odin.
sounds like a software failure. It is likely just a random glitch, do not worry.
People do believe that all the software products work the same way every time they are run, but that is not so. Data in RAM itself is actually quite fragile (compared to something 'physical') due to the speed and optimisations made. Magnetic fields and cosmic rays will always have a tiny but random effect. When you are processing 3 billion instructions per second (as your phone is at max), that gives you al lot of opportunity for random stuff-ups.
i've also encounter the same thing like you do. i quickly click on the sleep button off and on back and the color back to normal. battery indicator shown me that my device was 51°C. btw my device was non-root and running stock rom LA1 at that moment. so i guess it must have been too hot and triggered the color changes.
Happened to me once though not really sure the steps I followed to make it happen. A reboot fixed it and I didn't bother much with it anymore.
Thanks for all the answers! It's reassuring as misery loves company. Not that I'm miserable anymore, but for a few seconds I was thinking of life without my Note, and it was quite unthinkable!
Anyway, I know there's no perfect device so I'm not too concerned, though a friend who heard my brief account today said it could be a video driver issue, whatever that means!

[Q] messed up colors, help :(

My stock Touchpad has a weird color problem. Anytime there is some shading/gradient type effect, red/green/blue hues appear. Solid colors seem fine but when I try to watch something like a movie...every person looks like Obama's HOPE poster. Even the normal grey backgrounds of the UI/Cards look like they are running in some 8bit mode or something.
HP live chat previously ASSURED me it is not a hardware problem but rather a software problem. I have done all the updates/factory reset/etc. Nothing has improved. Has anyone seen this type of problem? Is there a 8bit color switch somewhere? Thanks for reading/any help!
I attached a tiny low res pic of the problem. The problem is pretty obvious
Does it work correctly in WebOS? That would tell us if it is a cm problem or a hardware problem. Boot over to WebOS and try watching a movie. I haven't heard of this being a cm problem.

It doesn't even have CM on it. I'm actually wondering if I flash android on it...it'll get fixed. Will give it a try when I have more time but might just try to call warranty on it. My warranty has passed 1 year but hopefully my credit card company should cover it. I'm thinking I should try that first before wasting time on flashing.
Such a weird problem that has stopped me from using/enjoying my TP
Its hard to even tell what the problem is in your picture. But is your screen discolored in that one spot or is the whole screen discolored? I've never heard of a software issue causing that. And if it was a software issue, running the webOS doctor should have fixed it. So if its still under warranty, i'd go that route first.

The issue is the entire screen. The picture is supposed to be mainly dark grey/grey/white. The blue/green tints pretty much appear wherever there is slight color gradients. Its quite obvious on non-solid colored UI and skin. It looks like basically watching a person while on acid.
Anyone know if its possible to have a faulty GPU or something on it and still boot up? The TP does feel sluggish in other aspects as well...open up just a few cards and it becomes pretty damn sluggish. Doesn't even have to be a web browser card...something simple like calculator can sometimes cause problems...

If its your whole screen, it could be that your screen is messed up. If you have the warranty still, I'd see if you can get it replaced.

Touch Screen Issues

I've started to have touch screen issues the past few days.
Any idea what may cause it?
Sometimes, when I touch the screen, say in settings, I touch one item, but a different item is selected somewhere randomly on the screen.
Happens in TWRP as well. If I select options to wipe, it will select others, and then it doesn't swipe over to execute the action.
No ideas? What would make touches appear where I don't touch, even on TWRP?
I tried the keyboard calibration on HTC's keyboard.
Any ideas? Screen protector?
It comes and goes.
I can't believe no one else is having this issue now.
I don't do stupid things with my phone, like drop it, put it in my pocket and sit on it, and wash it with soap and water.
Since I've started running Lollipop, it appears that my case is causing this issue. I've never had this problem before.
However, I updated my wife's phone to Lollipop Sense and now she is having the same issues with a different case.
Take the cases off, and they work more responsively.
I can only chalk this up to being a Lollipop issue, and hope it will be fixed soon.

I opened another thread about a similar issue I'm having after Lollipop. My gesture launch randomly stops working and I have to reboot. No other issues for me though. I have an anti-glare screen protector on mine, but had no issues before the update. I've thought about a factory reset to see if that would cure what ails.
I'm on tmo but have the same exact issues. This is what i've found so far...
I turned on the developer options and turned on show pointer. This will show you where the touches are landing.
If you scroll down slowly, you can see most of the touches are in line (up and down) and not random on the screen.
I've removed all programs that have screen overlays (screen filter, twilight etc)
I've removed the cases thinking they might be causing the issue, but removing them only slightly improved the issue I thought...
Sometimes its hard to reproduce the effect, its not consistent. So this leads me to believe that it could be a process that's running in the background that calls attention at the moment you're touching the screen, and then refocuses the screen to your point of contact. And in between it thinks you're moving your finger when you really aren't.
In any event, I can't find the exact cause of this. But, it definitely started after the update to lollipop. I had none of these issues before. I even got the phone exchanged because I believed the digitizer went bad or something. But this issue exists on my original phone, its replacement, and now on my wife's current phone and that phones replacement (across 4 phones).
I'm currently working on my wife's replacement (4 or 5 non-oem programs installed) and continue to have the problem. But it is not consistent as I can't readily reproduce it.
What i've done to try and learn more is when I see the screen pointer light up in random places, I keep pressure on the screen so I can observe where the screen is registering contact. It almost looks as if it's trying to pull down the shade. Whether it be because of the dual points of contact and it thinks we're swiping down, or because of another program that is stealing focus for whatever reason.
If anyone else has insights into this, please let us know as this is more than frustrating! I keep calling people in hanouts with a lot of people and they aren't happy about it lol.
Also for reference, we're using ADW ex launcher instead of Stock HTC Sense. But even when I remove ADW (uninstall) and run sense, it continues to happen. So it's not that.

Screen burn in discussion. Experiences? (1st gen)

I am a new owner of an Lg G watch Urbane 1st edition. I have researched about screen burn in before I bought the watch and decided that it wouldn't be that horrible because of the built in burn in protection. However I am still not convinced because of claims that if a certain watch face uses to wide object the screen moving around won't move that object enough for the pixel to turn off and rest. Any of you have a good general rule of thumb what to look out for when downloading watch faces? There are some cool ones out there but could I for example use ones that have colour in them even in dimmed mode? Or should I use ones that don't? What watch faces do you use that isn't too simple but hasn't caused burn in for you?
I own the same watch and I've never had any burn in issues. I use the always on option all day and faces with big numbers and never noticed that effect (okay maybe once, but maybe it was just that one face). So as far as I'm concerned you don't need to worry about that when hunting for new faces. I use all kinds of both simple high contrast faces and very busy image based too. I'm happy that they look great and don't give me any issues. Now, have you experienced burn in or were you just curious about it?
I just got my watch yesterday and already see faint burn it... I know that is common with OLED screens.. but I want to be sure I do not do permanent damage.. I would be interested to hear what you all do to help prevent it ?
I see a setting in Developer Mode that (PREVENT BURN IN) but when I enable it.. it says "will be effective after reboot" but when I reboot it turns off... ?
I have also purchased a pre-owned LG watch urbane from ebay. It just arrived to me yesterday and I have noticed the burn in issue which has some text saying "Android wear has stopped working". This is visible when screen is bright but not visible in ambient mode and darker themes.
well luckily my faint burn in has gone away.. the biggest help was turing off Always On Display... i'm not sure if this would have been a perminent issue since i'm sure LG had this in mind when they setup the OLED display.. but I know it bugs me to see shadow images on the screen... plus I do like the lengthened battery life having it off.. 50% at the end of the day is great
