CWM recovery with stock kernel? - Help

Hi,
I unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM into it. I backed up everything through CWM recovery.
However somehow the stock rom/kernel/etc don't work with this set-up. I just have "free xperia" logo until the universe will implode.
Therefore I installed cyanogenmod and it works. But I don't have the Xperia pkgs and since I own a lot of stuff from sony..those apps are usefull.
Question 1: Can I use CWM recovery with the stock sony rom?
Question 2: I just downloaded the ftf (700MB file), how can I restore everything? If I fastboot everything inside the package will it also correct the boot problem?
Question 3: Can I install sony pkgs as a 3rd party zip like google-apps?
Thanks for the help!!
Yes, you can use stock kernel with recovery.
But, since you are unlocked, you can install DoomKernel, its based on stock , it has a recovery and root included, and it is compatible with stock roms. Install it via fastboot, then you can flash a stock ftf excluding the kernel so you don't lose custom kernel.

You mean in CWM menus? and install the .ftf?

CWM can't flash ftf, for that you need Flashtool.
CWM can only flash flasheable zips.
If you want to keep stock rom with a working cwm recovery you have choice using advanced stock kernel or doomkernel both have a recovery working normally. If you don't want to overclock/underclock and tweak stuff choose advanced it is the stock kernel with a recovery with nothing more.
Flash ftf and then fastboot the kernel you choose, or vice versa fastboot and then flash ftf and exclude kernel in flashtool.

[Q] How to downgrade stock 14.2.A.1.136

Can somebody help me to install iHackers V2.1 over my stock 14.2.A.1.136.
I dont have unlocked bootloared and root.
I need fast replay.
Rooting on the newest version of Android 4.3.3 isn't impossible on the Xperia Z1, it just takes you more steps than normal to actually get full root access. I have a locked bootloader as well but I was able to get a rooted version of Android 4.3.3, specifically the iHackers 2.1 ROM running Android 4.3.3 with full root access. Here's how I got full root access on the iHackers 2.1 ROM:
1) Download the .ftf file named C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Global 1277-2880_R4A or the one provided by NUT from the compiled FTF thread at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
This is a version of the original Stock Rom that the VROOT program will actually work on when trying to ROOT your phone.
2) Flash the ROM you downloaded using Flashtool (steps on how you can go about doing that should be in the Xperia Z1 General forum.) and now, you're ready to root your phone with it.
3) Download, install and run VROOT to root your phone. Again, more information on how to properly root your phone using VROOT can be found in the Xperia Z1 General forum. For me, I just turned on USB Debugging on my Z1, connected my phone to my computer while VROOT was running and clicked the green button until I got root access. It's extremely easy.
4) With Root Access, now you can download and install Dual Recovery for the Xperia Z1 on your phone.
5) Download the latest iHackers 2.1 ROM from the Xperia Z1 Android Development thread and copy it to your phone. This is hands down, the best ROM for the Xperia Z1 right now in terms of battery life. With the latest 4.3 update, I'm able to get over 2 Days worth of battery life on one charge. Battery life is much better on the new iHackers 2.1 ROM running Android 4.3.
6) Download the flashable Locked Dual Recovery for the Xperia Z1 here. http://nut.xperia-files.com/
The file is called XZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.63-BETA (or newest) .flashable.zip (8.48MB), download it and copy it to your phone, preferably the same place you copied the iHackers 2.1 ROM. To make things easier for yourself, create a new folder on your phone or SD Card in your phone and name it iHackers. Copy both the iHackers 2.1 ROM and the flashable Locked Dual Recovery.zip file into this folder.
7) With both files now copied to a folder on your phone, you're now ready to go into recovery to flash the iHackers 2.1 ROM. Boot into recovery and once you're there, do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset before Installing the ROM.
The rest of these steps are now taken directly from the iHackers 2.1 download thread on the Xperia Z1 Android Development forum.
8) Install the ROM and THEN Dual Recovery. Don't make the same mistake I did, once the installer is finished, DON'T REBOOT THE DEVICE. Uncheck the "Reboot Device" box and go back to recovery to install the flashable Dual Recovery.zip file that's in the iHackers 2.1 folder.
9) Switch Off Your Phone (Do Not Reboot). Select No to Disable Flash Recovery Confirmation.
10) Install Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.136) or Kernel.ftf for C6902 (.136) with Flashtool to get compatible Kernel and Baseband. To download the kernel.ftf file, go to the original iHackers 2.1 thread to download and flash the kernel using Flashtool. You should be familiar with Flashtool at this point since if you make it to this step, you've already used Flashtool once to flash the .534 baseband version of Android.
11) Reboot and Enjoy. Now you're running the latest version of Android 4.3 on your Xperia Z1 on a Locked Bootloader WITH full Root Access. Sure, it's not the stock version but the iHackers 2.1 version of Android 4.3 is just as good, if not better. This will certainly do until there's a better way to simply root the newest Stock Version of Android 4.3.

Hi,
I've been trying to install RomAUR with no success.
I have an unlocked bootload (previously came from CM11) and have done the following:-
1. Placed rom zip onto external sd
2. installed zip via recovery, choosing full wipe, and the files from 6903 UB in aroma.
3. power off phone via advanced menu
4. Installed 14.2.A.1.142 kernel ftf via flashtool
I just cant seem to boot.
I know how to restore my phone, thats not the issue, the issue is I want to run a rom that supports call recording. I cant get any rom to work
Does anyone have a fool proof way to install RomAUR onto my phone? If it helps, I will be starting from the 14.2.A.0.290 stock ftf

Stock ROM for Pre-root and installing Mx ROM V8.0.0

Hi everyone,
I'm interested on installing the ROM developed by MXNICE :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/rom-z5mx-rom7-5-0extended-battery-t3224245
What I understand is that I'm gonna need a pre-rooted LP version of android, and I have lots of doubts....!
I have been working on rooting and doing some mods on my xperia z1 but only on KK...so I'm not experienced on LP
What I did in KK is: install version .108 with flashtool, rooted, installed CWM recovery, DEODEXed, Camera Mod, and other minor mods... and that is is what I'm using right now. I did not touch the bootloader so I understand I have locked bootloader.
Now, this custom ROM looks awesome but installation procedure is not clear for me. I have read all the entire thread (64 pages!), and I understand that I have to install this ROM through the recovery and doing a "clean Install"
Post #341 (by arvinaquio) on that thread is:
By the way, I did a very clean installation of this ROM by reinstalling .108. Rooted it and installed Dual Recoveries. Then created a pre-rooted .368 fw through PRFCreator then full wiped and cleared cache before installing the latest fw then power off, turned on the device manually then reconfigured(Unknown Sources, USB debugging) then rebooted to Recovery then full wiped and cleared cache and installed the ROM. Rebooted it and it turned on smoothly without experiencing any error reported recently from other pages. Always do a clean installation to avoid encountering error. Good luck guys and happy modding to all of us!

So now, I have to create a pre rooted LP stock ROM, I found the tutorial on the internet on how to do it, but...
1) My xperia z1 model is C6943, I understand it is compatible with C6903 (i lose TV function, which I don't care)... how can I be sure I won't have a problem if I put: KK .108 stock Custom AR for C6943, pre-rooted LP.216 Custom BR (.236 not available for C6943), and then flash MxROM which is Chinese C6903 ? (Edit: is Chinese C6903 version .236)
2.a) When creating the pre rooted LP .216 should I choose the same recovery (CWM) or can I use another (I want to change to dual or TWRP)??
2.b) And also I want to change from "superuser" to "SuperSU".? Can I make those change or should I stick to CWM and superuser?
2.c) If I can't, means I should start again from KK and root installing dual recovery and superSU?
3) Once I get the pre rooted firmware, should I install it over KK firmware using recovery or using flashtool? should I wipe data, cache, and dalvik ?
Of course I already did a backup of my actual system with CWM. I just want to be sure of what I'm going to do next and avoid bootlooping or bricking my phone.
thank you all !

3) the pre rooted firmware you get from prf creator is a zip file. This file is only flashable with the help of a custom recovery.
Don't mix up ftf files and zip files. Ftf => flashtool to get it on phone, zip => custom recovery to get it on phone.
So what I did Was: flash to stock Sony v. 108 firmware for C6943, rooted with easy root tools, download superSU from playstore and installed the dual recovery using install.bat file.
Then rebooted to recovery and made a backup.
When I flashed to lollipop using the pre rooted file I made, the phone went into bootloop. So I restored the backup and installed a pre rooted version that I downloaded from this forum, it was Central Europe for C6903. (in both cases I previously wiped data and cache).
Once I got lollipop working, checked it was rooted and with the dual recovery installed, I enabled USB debuggibg and allow install from external sources. Then entered recovery and made again a backup.
I previously checked that superSU and dual recovery included in the flasheable lollipop zip were the same version I used when I installed them on the stock kitkat rom, dont know if that was necessary, but just in case.
After that I entered recovery again, wiped data and cache and installed the custom rom.
It worked like a charm, and runs very smooth
