Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently purchased a refurbed Galaxy Camera 2. I got it rooted, but want to install a custom recovery. I went to TWRP (preferred), but they don't offer a recovery for the EK-GC200. I see where some have installed a custom recovery, but for the life of me I can't seem to find one for this device. Can someone help me with this? I'm not new to rooting on installing custom recoveries/ROMS, and not new to Samsung (I rooted my s3-my Note 4).

I came across this today. Its a custom ROM of Android 5.0 for the galaxy camera 2 and provides a suggestion for the recovery.
I HAVE NOT installed this on my Galaxy Camera 2, so I cannot speak to it, but the recovery should at least be helpful to you.
If you do decide to install Lollipop on it, lemme know how you like it. It looks like its a stock 5.0 as if it was just an android device with no special camera stuff. Not sure if Samsungs Camera App is downloadable separate, or if there is just a better camera app in the play store that would be more useful.
I am curious about this ROM, but just got my camera yesterday and dont really feel like installing a custom rom on it yet. So far thing runs like a charm with everything I want disabled and turned off, so i have no real reason to want ot change it.
anyway, heres the link:
*for some reason I cannot post the link into the reply without part of it getting starred out.
Just google
"custom roms for samsung galaxy camera 2"
and its the 4th result
The article claims you can just download from the playstore and install recovery.
2. Install the ROM Manager on your Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Gc. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).

The article is fake, which is pretty obvious if you do any kind of fact-checking or research and I expect trying to flash anything it links to will brick your camera. There is no custom recovery available for the GC2 yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one that has been working on one (and I haven't released it yet because the zoom/volume inputs aren't working currently). There is no Lollipop build for this device either, custom or official. To the best of my knowledge, Samsung hasn't commented if they're going to release a Lollipop build for this device or not.
The $450 price tag turns away a lot of developers to this device. I was able to score mine for $200, but I work full time and take classes when I'm not working. I can't commit to developing for this device in my spare time.

WoW! I didn't know that XDA Developers are developing ROMs for Galaxy Camera! Maybe I can try it...

Bump for this!! I would LOVE a walkaround cam like this. )

[Q] Leaked Android 5.0 Apps Help

Hey y'all
I found a link this morning for the new Android 5.0 leaked Google apps: http://http://phandroid.com/2014/10/20/check-out-the-new-messenger-google-play-music-and-more-leaked-android-5-0-lollipop/
I've simply installed the Messaging apk and it is working really well on my Rooted AT&T Note 3.
I attempted to install the new Gmail app, but I could not get it to work. I was getting FCs and had to jump back to the current Gmail.
Has anyone been able to get the Gmail apk to work?
UPDATE,
I've posted this in the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Q&A forum", and there are a handful of people that have the New Gmail apk running just fine on their devices (other carriers/ non-stock ROMs).
I'm thinking that maybe it has something to do with Stock Rooted Touchwiz...

I may be wrong on this but normally you would need to install the new market apk's in system first so that the market framework is correct.
make sure you backup first!

Snapchat lenses

Hello guys ! I was wondering, is it possible to get on our Moto G 2014 snapchat's new functions ?
Thanks in advance ?
snapchat barely works for me
I'm curious about this as well. It says the Lenses feature doesn't really work on older Android devices, but our phone was released just last year. It probably has more to do with the actual specs than anything else though. I've seen people with Galaxy S 5s and iPhone 5s that can't get Lenses to work.
According to comments in Play store the new update is not working on any Android even newest flagmans . Only iOS users can use the new effects, hope they come up with new update so we can have these new features too.
To begin with it didn't work for me, but now it randomly started working lol
It worked for me on Stock rom, but on 5.1 roms didn't. Fortunately there is xposed module called SnapchatLensesEnabler and it work for me on AOSP 5.1. I think it will also work on another roms with xposed installed

Audio Mods on Oreo based custom or stock rooted roms

Hi everyone,
I have been an android user for long now and have been a total fan of Vipers audio effects, dil by atoms and dolby surround and the sony music app which I have installed in every phone I have had starting with The Samsung note 2 till the Samsung S8 which I had till February this year after which I switched to a note8 exynos as I'm in India.
Eversince I updated to oreo most of the mods either don't install or get stuck in twrp recovery at "Magisk image found" And I have to force reboot.
I was pretty happy to find a post on XDA which had viper Sony music, sony sound effects and dil by atmos and other related goodies and there were oreo versions there.
Unfortunately they too either get stuck while flashing in recovery or if the in stall completes then the phone doesn't boot after reaching the flash in Sammy logo.
Have tried to use supersu instead of Magisk for root but it is a no go even then.
I'm running Delux Rom v6.1 rooted with magics and with sony music installed thorough magisk. The viper install through Magisk doesn't work as in it either fails to install driver or gets installed but does nothing when playing music.
Am downloading delux rom v 6.2 right now and will try again.. I would really appreciate any help or guidance to be able to have my config as I like it to be.
I have also tried weta rom 7.2 and it has the options to install viper and earlier had dil by too. The west rom controller shows the process is complete and successful says reboot is needed.. After reboot there is nothing in the apps menu or sometimes there's viper but it doesn't work.
On weta rom v 7.1 I am unable to get volte working even after manually installing the correct cab which is why I dropped it.
I look forward to help and as ice gem the learned and wonderful people on XDA Developers Forum, I cannot count the number of times I have been saved after bricking my phone by following the tutorials here.

I have been having the same issues too. It seems to be hit and miss. I tried WETA and it worked, but there were a few other bugs in the rom which basically meant I couldn't use it as a daily driver. However...Using @dr.ketan 's ROM, which I have to say is excellent and completely stable, I was delighted to find in the Rom Control, the ability to switch Viper4Android on and off. Simply select the number for Old or New (drivers) and then install the V4A APK and everything works flawlessly! Try it out and good luck!

Galaxy Notes on M21

Hey all!
The only reason I changed to Samsung M21 was my need to read notes on my phone I wrote in Samsung Notes on other device (Samsung Galaxy Tab S4). And I was very surprised and disappointed, when I reallized they don't allow to update Samsung Notes app on M21 to the latest version. Now it's 3.* on M21 and 4.* on Tab S4, so it even doesn't show me my notes. It is funny, but cheaper A20 has 4.* version. It returns with error if I try to install latest .apk of the app, Galaxy Store shows only 3.*.
Are here any solutions? Maybe, some custom ROM or kinda forced installing?
Probably because M21 has One UI Core. Sadly, there's nothing you can do about it if you're not rooted.
Thank you for the answer, Fredin_. It is no problem to root the phone, isn't it? My previous phones were rooted, so I had a little experience. Could you please tell more about solutions after I do it.

It shouldn't be a big deal, nothing is broken for me and banking apps work after hiding the magisk app, using magisk hide and passing safetynet, though I did come across one app that refused to work.
You need to disable signature verification somehow (the easiest way would be to use luckypatcher) and install the apk using Split APK Installer using the root method. If that doesn't work, you can try installing the app as a system app, most apps should work with either of these methods.
But if you are happy with android 10, then an even better alternative would be to use Totsuka OS. It's a OneUI port, so you can just install stuff from the galaxy store or playstore.

Yeah, then Totsuka will be good for you, pretty much bugless. Don't forget to flash the keystore fix after flashing it tho.
Good luck.

Ditch SNotes now or it will bite you even harder. Samsung is notorious for lack of legacy support with this apk, as I know all too well. Cut&pasted more of these notes than I care to remember to salvage them
I use ColorNote now. You can hyperlink directly from them so you can use it for saving bookmarks too. It will store backups on a SD card and you can export backups to the PC.
This app it's self doesn't need internet connection to function... in fact I always block it with Karma Firewall.
Save an installable copy of it if you decide to use it... never trust Playstore.

Help to de-google my phone

G'day
I'm sick of google and everything they are about. Don't be evil my arse. I already do the simple stuff like using brave browser and duck duck go search. I'm hoping someone can advise me on how to strip my phone of as much google as possible and replace with aosp alternatives. Or even just point me towards some guides on it.
I am using a Samsung galaxy a22 5g rooted with magisk stock rom.
Thanks
I think you might want to flash a custom ROM, then use something like MicroG Magisk, NanoDroid or FOSSApps. Ungoogling an already Googled stock ROM might be more pain than flashing something community developed.
I'm currently running Lineage with Magisk GApps (so I can remove them anytime) and I'm slowly getting ready for the transition. So I'm also looking for more information.
I set up a VPS for myself (might be an overkill for you, but inspiration nonethelss) and I'm hosting OnlyOFFICE Community there and using their apps, I also host my own BitWarden password storage and a mail server (was kinda pain to set it up with all the methods for spam verification). This way some of my most sensitive data is kept on an encrypted drive on a server I myself control.
Then there's getting apps which are mainly available through Google Play - I found that uptodown does host apks, but that's far from an actually viable option (considering you really have to trust them when you're downloading apps there). Alternative stores providing the same apps as Google Play are always kinda worrying to use & trust.
So that's my two cents worth and a starting point, I'll also gladly accept some tips & tricks to accomplish this entirely, it's a long-lasting dream to leave Google altogether.

i think it's better to use a custom aosp rom with no gapps
if you still want stock rom :
make a recovery backup of "system" just in case
mount system
the folders that have apps are :
system/app
system/priv-app
system/product/app
system/product/priv-app
(if you use A11+ check also system-ext/app and priv-app)
delete anyhing related to google
if you don't want to delete use lucky patcher or titanium backup to freez them
if you choose freezing, make a recovery backup of "data"

Hey thanks for the reply and info. Flashing an aosp custom rom would be my usual go to. However I've been on an oppo with unlockable bootlader for last 18 months and now I got this samsung I find there is zero rom dev on this phone. The only options I can find are GSI which is a new concept to me and I'm a little uncertain about going that route.

Do you think I should go with a GSI rom? If safe and stable I'm happy to do the research because I'd love to get a custom aosp rom going on this.
Afaik this samsung can't even access fastboot gotta use the Samsung flashing software instead and the only thread on twrp for this phone is experimental and doesn't seem to be confirmed as working by anyone.
Hence why so far I've stuck with stock and magisk
I used to flash heaps of roms and kernels on older devices but this whole GSI thing is new to me. If it's dicey I'll go the TB route with the folders you pointed me to. Cheers

Cool cheers for your help mate. Touche on the last point. New job with nice pay bump coming so that will be the go I think.
I use Graphene OS on my Pixel 6 and CalyXOS on the 4a. Both are very good degoogled ROMs.
I built a Magisk module for this some time ago. However, it's very likely that it won't work anymore and will probably cause a bootloop. I'm only posting it in case someone wants to use the repo as inspiration.

you forgot to mention that both GrapheneOS and CalyXOS are available ONLY for the Pixel phones
and the Pixels have a unique feature - the bootloader can be locked back AFTER flashing a custom ROM
