Anyone know where to buy the D5803 for cheap? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im currently looking at this deal
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Sony-XPE...570?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4187c61b82
but i was wondering if i'll be charged for customs where if thats the case, i might as well buy the phone from a retail shop
Anyone from Canada that has purchased this phone other than from a sony retail store?

That's a good deal assuming it's reputable.

I have seen cheaper, but you're taking a risk if you buy outside of your continent, customs may hit you hard.
Try loooking @ Ebay .com/co.uk/de
Many times you get different results.

hmmmmh... I still can't decide if I should get this phone or not

Best place to buy the X1a? Best Buy, SonyStyle, Other?

What's the best place for me to buy an X1a? Thus far, the only places I know of are Best Buy and SonyStyle. I know I can save a ton of cash on eBay, but I want the factory warranty to work in case anything ever goes wrong with it. Normally, I'm a fix it yourself kind of guy, but the X1a quality issues I've seen on this board scare me, and make me feel as if I really need a warranty/exchange policy to back me up on this purchase.
Does anyone have any reccomendations or insight?
I bought mine from BestBuy, I wouldn't trust eBay just yet, you'll probably end up with a silver X1i.
i bought mine at sony style a while back. i would buy from best buy, its cheaper and you can always return before the first months runs out if you have a problem with it.
Try Dell $637

If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area I would recommend them. I believe I saw them carrying the X1a for around $700. Save yourself a few bucks, plus I've had excellent dealings with them in the past.
try www.pccounter.net

can you see the nexus one at t-mobile?

I am going through an internal struggle with myself on whether or not i should buy the n1. I want one i think, but i have never seen it. Does tmo have a demo of it in there stores? I heard they have accessories now, but I would like to see if they have the phone there. Even a dummy version would suffice.
Nope. Only sold online.
Unfortunately... I don't think so. You could always buy it and then return it before 14 days, but I don't know if they will charge you the restocking fee for opening the battery plastic packaging. Or you could always go on Craigslist and tell someone selling the Nexus One that you're interested and want to check it out.
You can at my store.

HD7 on ebay

Don't want to tempt anyone here but I've just noticed that unlocked HD7s are selling on ebay for between £400 and £550 a pop.
Crazy. Why would you pay that? Have these people never heard of using a shop? Or at least checking the going rate online.

I saw this its so crazy if i had the upfront cash i would so get in on that.
It's that price on eBay because:
1. It's only release in europe at the moment
2. US people can't be bothered to wait and usually order from overseas
3. It's unlocked
Main 3 factors which bumps up the prices.
That does explain some of the sales but plenty of sellers say they won't ship outside of the UK.
I checked some of the inflated completions and a lot of them seem to be bought by bidders with zero feedback. Something funny going on there.
Yea the zero feedbacks do sound a bit dodgy...
But with the ones that ain't shipping out of UK, it's unlocked, so people will pay anything just to put their Vodafone/Orange/Tmobile sim in it.
What i don't get is that you can do it yourself if you just buy it from O2. Learning how to unlock it will take like 15minutes for a newbie.
Indeed.
For the zero bid ebay buys I wonder if it's a way of making a product look more expensive than it really is. People probably decide on what's a bargain partly based on how much stuff tends to sell for.
So, if you flood the place with extortionately priced handsets and create ebay IDs to buy them people will presume that's the going rate and be willing to shell out more.
If an item sells then great. You go out to O2, buy one, unlock it and put in post to buyer. If it looks like it won't sell you use a fake ID to make it look like it sold and later get your advertising money back due to 'buyer' not sending payment.
Devious if true.

Anyone bought G-note from ebay?

I have yet to see someone claim to have bought e-note from ebay? I see prices as low as $670 dollars (US) including shipping yet no one has reported to have bought one from them. what is the risk involved that people are still paying $740 from other places and no one seems to be taking advantage of new g-notes from ebay at cheaper prices?
I think its fear + ignorance which stops more people getting them from ebay. These things are made pretty close to Hong Kong, so its not suprising how cheap they are buying them from there through ebay. ebay used to be fairly shady too, and I think a lot of people still hold the fear of splashing $700 into a site which they may feel unsure about. However, as many of us know these days, ebay + paypal combined is an insanely safe shopping source. Not only is your sale fully ensured, but the amount of turnover most of these stores do, and the ability to access other shopper's comments does make it a really valuable source.
I'll be getting my note from ebay sometime next week (when the pay comes through), but have previously bought my SGS 1, and asus transformer from there, with NO problems, extremely quick shipping, and hundreds of dollars saved. I always recomend it
thanks for the vote of confidence. I am also thinking about getting my g-note next week through ebay.
Just read through the sellers past feedback. You should quickly see if the seller is reliable. Also read carefully through the description to see if it is new/used/damaged or if the title is wrong and they they are selling a 600$ notebook with a photo of a galaxy on it rather than a phone.
I got mine from eBay.
I bought mine from Ebay I paid 720 for it including shipping that was free. That's 2 Weeks ago prices were much higher.
It was a reputable seller and didn't have any issue the phone is running great
I went through 3 SGN's so far.. One from Amazon.de, One from Ebay.de and one from my Country which was the most expensive one but was worth the local warranty reassurance since I'm keeping this one. Received it today.
The second one from Ebay was a German model, no problems, sold it like I did with the first one from Amazon after I played around abit with it.
Anyway ALWAYS read the FEEDBACK! Even if it's a TOP Rated it means NOTHING! It might be a hacked account or a bad TopRated. Better safe than sorry.
Example: Someone is selling some SGN's in a very attractive price. Check the feedback if another person bought and received a Note from the Seller already. If the listing just came up then check it's feedback for some expensive stuff and not 2-3euros worth of items.
If the Seller has low feedback(<30-50) but it's 100% positive and every buyer is happy with him, then sent him a message first and see. He might be just a regular guy selling a Note.
Yes Ebay and Paypal did help me a couple times and they were very helpful, but Scammers will always be around.
Got mine on ebay for $760 about 3 weeks ago when they first came out. It arrived in a few days without any problem. It turn out to be a Polish model with a with a Polish provider branding.
Just rooted & loaded a custom ROM & now all OK.
I love this phone. Absolutely awesome screen.
Got mine from a Hong Kong ebayer with no problem.

Does anyone know a good play in Hong Kong to buy in-store?

I know alot of the places it quite expensive around 850 usd. and online its only 700-725
does anyone know of a store that you could buy it in person closer to the online price?
there are so many places here i dont even know where to start looking, any experienced HK shopping help would be appreciated.
or even a buy online and in-store pickup. i just want to make sure i can check the screen and if all is good so i dont have to deal with shipping it back and fourth.
thanks.
If you're shopping in Hong Kong for electronics you're probably best off staying away from Mong Kok and all the major shopping centers - they're looking for foreigners to fleece. Make sure you have a solid idea of how much you can buy it for online, then be prepared to haggle. They won't give you the price you want right off the bat, so be prepared to walk away. Most will call you back to negotiate.
At the end of the day, I found it was best to buy from eBay (ironically shipped from Singapore) and avoid the games they play at the Hong Kong Electronics markets. Also, the exchange rate fluctuates and you could end up losing money just converting to HKD.

i understand ebay is the cheapest the reason i want to get it in store is so i can view the screen and make sure its good, i have friends here in HK i can shop back for warranty but would rather not.
and considering almost EVERYONE reports a screen problem id rather pay 50 bux more and know its ok.
so if you or anyone have an actual suggestion for a place to go that would be awesome.

i am still asking about an actual physical store
not an online store, i know it can be gotten online.
does anyone know of the cheapest store in HK that would see it so i can look at it before buying?
AHAH! i finally found a place that shows in-store prices and seems to be about usd 715-750
here is this site
http://www.price.com.hk/
you can compare many stores so i could check out the device in store before buying it.
I played with and eventually bought my Note a few days ago at Fortress, Melbourne Plaza, Queens Rd, Central. (Near Central MTR). I'm pretty sure you could do the same in all the Fortress stores as they have big mobile display areas.
It's pretty trustworthy as it's a major chain, but as such you don't get the larger discounts you might be able to track down in Mongkok. Mine was $5998 HKD.
