Moto X Xt1052 5.0.2 soak test and how to get it? India? - Moto X Q&A

Hi,
I have an Indian variant of Moto X . Can anyone give the details about the soak test and how to take part in it.

Register for Motorola feedback network and wait

Waiting for someone else to capture the OTA for the soak test for the XT1052 and post it here on XDA, like the other variants...

So you're waiting on someone to break the MFN agreement (which is worded like a typical Non-Disclosure Agreement), and post the file... Which could jeopardize future "Soak" tests.
Also, if you haven't noticed, Moto has submitted take down notices to XDA, and they are complying... It wouldn't surprise me if Moto was doing this everywhere.
Its beginning to look like your choices are... Sign up for the MFN and hope to be selected, or wait until the update starts pushing to everyone.

lmao... I just noticed XDA took down all the ota's. That's what people get. People will be upset. But should be grateful for not bricking devices over stupid choices and breaking the soak rules.

Btw "variant"

When I check for update I get a message 'unable to check for updates at present. Please try again later' instead of the usual Your Phone is already Up to date or whatever it used to say.
I dunno if this is a good sign or not. Can anyone else with a XT1052 confirm?

Yep! I don't believe it was a soak, necessarily, but I still filled them in. If they're nice enough to ask for my opinions/experiences after they did something so unexpectedly fast, I'll take the 3 minutes the survey took to help them out.
I took the survey because I see some things that need to be addressed quickly. Now I wonder how long it will take this time...

[Q] Keep hearing about someone selling unlock codes.

I have been in several threads around here and I keep hearing mention of a Chinese person who sells bootloader unlock codes for this phone. Is this person real? Is he still active? How can I contact him?

Thank you. I am really missing my Xposed modules, but I guess I'll have to wait. Hopefully Android L arrives soon to hold me over until we can root AT&T.

I would honestly wait to upgrade to Android 5 if you are wanting a shot at rooting your phone. Android 5 is supposedly Googles more security focused release. I plan to hold off on any update to give devs a chance.
I am hoping the China middleman does come through though with codes for these devices. It is how my first OG Moto X was unlocked

[Q] Was I lied to by the Motorola rep?

I recently had a chat with a motorola representative, the transcript of which you can find below, in which she said that the Lollipop update was being rolled out on Verizon (the only place this phone is supported, as you probably know) as I type this. Does anyone, ANYONE at all have this update, or was the motorola rep. trying to make it sound like the update is coming sooner than it actually will? As a side note it'd better be here soon :/
TRANSCRIPT:
[07:45:45 PM] Hi, my name is Jennifer. How may I help you?
[07:46:34 PM] Mathew: Hi. I was wondering about the upcoming Droid Turbo lollipop update, will it be released sometime this month?
[07:46:47 PM] Mathew: It feels slightly overdue at this point
[07:47:00 PM] Jennifer: Good question, let me go ahead and assist you with that because here in Motorola we value our customers.
[07:49:21 PM] Jennifer: Can I have your 16 digits serial number/IMIE you can access the IMEI or MEID by pressing *#06# from the phone dialer?
[07:50:03 PM] Mathew: yes one moment
[07:50:27 PM] Jennifer: Sure.
[07:50:29 PM] Mathew: IMEI GOES HERE
[07:50:47 PM] Jennifer: Thank you.
[07:51:10 PM] Jennifer: Kindly please wait one moment.
[07:51:19 PM] Mathew: Ok. Thank you
[07:52:05 PM] Jennifer: you're welcome.
[07:53:59 PM] Jennifer: Thank you so much for holding.
[07:54:13 PM] Mathew: No problem!
[07:55:25 PM] Jennifer: The Android L (Lollipop) The update is currently rolling out. It will be send to you automatically Over-The-Air. Just to set your expectation that updated software version update is release per batch, per location and that would also depends on your carrier .Software updates is being rolled up per batch even if you have the same carrier. It is not being released all at once (regardless what device it is).
[07:56:51 PM] Jennifer: You can also check the ANDROID L LOLLIPOP SOFTWARE UPDATE FEEDBACK
(link goes here)] As of the moment all you need to do is to wait for it.
[07:57:19 PM] Mathew: Because the only carrier that has this phone is Verizon, and is being released per location, do you know when it will arrive in Maryland? The fact that it is rolling out now is news to me as I haven't heard of anyone at all having it yet. This is still great news!
[07:57:31 PM] Mathew: I shall visit this link while you respond
[07:57:58 PM] Jennifer: As mush as I wanted to give you a Estimated Time Frame, I couldn't able to give since the update is send batch by bath and Over-The-Air.
[07:58:54 PM] Mathew: Are you positive that it is rolling out at all? I haven't heard of anyone on the internet having this update, and most of the community across the country is waiting for the update quite eagerly.
[07:59:43 PM] Jennifer: Yes. All you need to do is to kindly wait for it and make sure you always check it time to time and you should have a strong internet connection.
[08:00:11 PM] Mathew: Ok. So it is rolling out on Verizon to people as we speak?
[08:00:27 PM] Jennifer: Yes.
[08:00:48 PM] Mathew: Ok. Thank you for this information!
[08:01:51 PM] Jennifer: You're welcome! Are you satsfied on how I assisted you?
[08:02:00 PM] Mathew: Yes. Very much so.
[08:02:16 PM] Mathew: Before I disconnect
[08:02:21 PM] Jennifer: Before you go I would like to let you know that You might be getting an email survey to simply rate the service that I provided to you I appreciate any feedback and comment.
[08:02:31 PM] Mathew: is there any way to get the update via some sort of sideloading process?
[08:02:42 PM] Mathew: Or do i have to wait for the OTA update?
[08:02:46 PM] Jennifer:
Kindly please wait one moment.
[08:05:08 PM] Jennifer: Suggestion
Summary:
Update the software
Question:
How do I update the software on my device?

Software updates will be sent to your phone automatically over-the-air as they become available. But you always have the option to update over a USB connection using Motorola Device Manager (MDM) too. You can use either method to check for updates.

[08:06:06 PM] Jennifer: Yes.
[08:06:20 PM] Mathew: As in, right now, today!??!
[08:07:31 PM] Jennifer: Like I said with every devices (regardless want devices) even if you try that steps it will still depends on the location and carrier.

[08:08:00 PM] Jennifer: You are very welcome.
[08:08:10 PM] Jennifer: I hope I have assisted you well today?

Motorola customer service is an oxymoron. A friend had to make a BBB complaint just to get them to replace his defective Nexus 6 with a new model instead of refurb.
It was less than a week old.
Janice: Hi, my name is Janice. How may I help you?
Mathew Erickson: Hi. I was talking to another rep about this earlier, and wanted to confirm it, is the lollipop update being pushed out to droid Turbo users right now?
Janice: You may refer here
Mathew Erickson: But it doesn't say anything the update on the droid turbo, and another rep told me just today that the update was being pushed out this very minute. Is this true?
Janice: The software has been released by Google but it is being released per service provider it is currently being pushed per batches and not at the same time for better performance and reviews. Once the software update is available for your device, there will be a prompt for you to download it while you or on wifi and that will be the over the air update.
Mathew Erickson: But nobody has actually gotten and reviewed the update yet. Do you have proof that the update is being released in batches and that it it released at all?
Janice: WE don't have an update yet.
Mathew Erickson: So the update for the droid turbo isn't done quite yet?
Janice: Yes it's will be sent randomly.
Mathew Erickson: So it will be sent randomly, does that mean that certain people already have it? Or that it will be sent randomly once the update is complete?
Janice: It will be sent randomly once the update is complete.
Mathew Erickson: Do you have a remote date (a month, the like) of when the update is to be released?
Mathew Erickson: Hello?
Mathew Erickson: Are you still there?
Janice: Unforyunately we are unable to provide an exact time frame.
Mathew Erickson: Do you have a vague time frame?
Janice: 'Probably by 2nd week of July.
Mathew Erickson: Alright. I will keep an eye out for it. Thank you
Janice: You're welcome
Janice: HAve a good night.

Don't get me wrong I love the phone. Its awesome but this is ridiculous they are killing an awesome phone.
Moto teamed up with Verizon makes this phone destined to fail.
Honestly if we could unlock our BL we would have a working Lollipop build in ~24 hrs or less built from source nearly 100% bug free. If we can do it moto sure as hell should...
Tell me about it. All it takes is a couple of devs, an Irc, and a crap ton of coffee to get it up and running.

If and when a successful, repeatable BL unlock/ bypass method is devised and released you will know.
This is very sad that Motorola reps are doing this. There hasn't even been a soak test rumor yet about lollipop arriving to droid turbo which then nonetheless it arriving randomly.

Most of their answers are "cut and paste" so when you throw one at them they don't know, they have to find an answer which ultimately results in "just tell them this".
I've chat with multiple reps and they have said different things just like OP. However, I never got a "solid" date as you did.

[Q] G Flex Marshmallow? (Link)

I saw bunch of sources that says Marshmallow update may come to the LG G Flex.. No lollipop update but marshmallow what do you guys think? Do you think is that even a possibility?
Example:

This is a crap answer. This is a discussion about a possible update that a lot of people are interested in. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation then please kindly shut it. That being said, I have only seen Marshmallow updates planned for the G Flex 2 and other handsets. Here is a link:

Basically it doesn't look good for this awesome phone. Personally I will never buy another LG handset again.

Rumour has it that Motorola has started rolling out 8.0 Oreo in Australia and NZ...
