[Q] Network in lollipop - Moto X Q&A

hi, how do i know when i have internet connection on lollipop? on kitkat the network icon is orange when there is no internet connection... with lollipop is only white? thx
PS: sorry for bad english

are you talking about this? -> http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...nd-only-shows-connectivity-in-quick-settings/
I'm not sure of a way to get that back, but I know there is an Xposed module to give the up/down network activity arrows if you are rooted.

Change the "G" icon!!!

Can anyone help me to change to "G" icon I have in Ver 1.40 back to the icon I had in Ver 1.33?
I preferred that icon.
Also has anyone noted that when you reset and then tap the "G" icon it does not give the option of connecting via WiFi but after you make a WiFi connection it is then available when tapping the "G" icon.

I was wondering if the icon is associated with the Radio Version 1.12.
Could someone check and see what icon they have in V1.10 or lower.
Thanks in advance
Guys, can anybody explain me, what is it Icon "G"?
I am just start to use it .... sorry ...

Yep, the G icon appears to be related to the 1.40 ROM, and independent of the Radio ROM version.
I think digging through the register to find the key that shows the icon might be useful...
And how to make it go away? I'm not using GPRS and I have not configured any connection so far, but I dunno how to turn it off (the icon itself).

i believe you can't make it go away.... unless as HappyGoat said if someone dug deep into the registry....... it used to be only on the Imate Jam and now on te PDA2K as well.
Anyone found a solution to get ride of the G icon ???
Thanks
I get it for a few seconds of turning my BA on, I don't have 1.40 but I do have Radio 1.12
Unless you screw up your GPRS settings, the icon will change to a signal bar icon with an X as far as I can recall.
You can remove the G by using any GPRS Tweak Apps and select to "Search GPRS on start GPRS connection", by default it is "Search GPRS on start radio"... The softreset....

How do I hide the 4GLTE symbol when I have WiFi on???

Thanks so much if anyone else knows? It looks horrible...
There are quite a few xposed modules that will handle this. I personally like running ART so I'm hoping someone comes up with a SystemUI mod like the 2013 Moto X that makes all the icons AOSP.
Do you have a recco for a light xposed app that would do this?
It isn't light but gravitybox has this.
I have gravitybox installed but cant find anywhere to turn off the 4glte symbol when wifi is on? Am i just missing it somewhere?
The module is MotoXposed but I don't know if it works on the 2014.

Unfortunately moto xposed does not work on the new moto x. Anyone else find a "fix"? Thanks

It should be under status bar tweaks > signal cluster

Thanks... I did go there but there is nowhere to hide the 4g symbol when on WiFi...

Go to the main settings screen. Under "Wireless and Networks" choose "More."
Now choose "Mobile Networks."
Uncheck "Show mobile network."
AFAIK there isn't one, hopefully someone will create a SystemUI mod like the original Moto X had. I hate that 4g icon so hopefully we can get AOSP.

Your notifications are set to do not disturb or off. Press your volume button to see these options
That means you dont have any phone network
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
I double the 'absolutely zero signal', that is what the symbol means.
I can confirm that the symbol means do not disturb. Check your volume settings if you want to change it back.
Source: Have Nexus 10 with 5.0
It means so you notifications are set to "none"
That means the radio is off, you are using wifi and have no signal through the carrier.
I've got a star symbol in my notification bar. What does that mean?

Right, and it's on. An empty triangle would mean no service etc. etc. Google used to have a document that listed all the (stock) icons. Perhaps they still do.
Priority notifications have:
no icon - all
star - priority
slashed circle - none (including alarms).
By the way this is a Nexus 6 area.
If he has a Wifi model then she shouldn't have the no signal icon to begin with. To me, this icon means its not a WIFI model and there is no sim card inserted or valid

I'm not sure what you mean here but the linked YouTube video shows all three states and the two icons. Perhaps you didn't notice that this device is running Android L?

Oh i was responding to the OP with the question about the circle with the line across.
MYSTERY SOLVED! i notice that even on the Nexus6, if you press the volume down button from the homescreen once, then press the word "NONE", it will create this circle with the line through it on the notification bar to remind you that you dont want to receive any notifications or alarms.
The answer was posted multiple times and a link to a demonstration video was provided. Did you post a question and then simply not read any of the answers?

Unknown Icon in status bar

I have started getting an icon that has a v and a kind of WiFi signal in my status bar does anybody know why this is here? I thought it was to do with my data limit but it doesn't seem so.

It is the icon of VoLTE support. You are on a carrier that supports it.

Yep, it means that you are on carrier that supports it (as well as your device does).

Hey guys,
I'm running oos beta and it appears the status bar toggle for locking hardware button is gone. I googled and can't find a module or setting that I'm missing. Anybody aware of a module or developer option to get it back?
