Charging current - Huawei Ascend P7

Hi,
I have 2 samsung chargers one with 1A and one with 2A. I don't own original huawei charger and i dont know how much Amper is original one,. Is there any problem to charge it with samsung charger? What do you suggest, with which one is healthy to charge my p7 with 1A or 2A? I searched in the internet, and says that there is no problem with 2A. What are your experiences? Thanks

My Huawei travel charger says: Output 0.5V, 550mA.
The 2A or even 1A could kill your battery. Get one in AliExpress (I got one for my Acer A500 tablet for less then 10 Euros).
Cheers

How long it takes for full charge with 0.5A? Mine almost charges for 3 hours with 1A.
Cheers

LOL, I don't know!
I plug my phone into charger when I go to sleep and I take it of tomorrow morning.

You have a "charching electronic" (sorry, don't know how to call in English). So don't worry about the Ampere, the phone takes only what it is able to handle..

Μy original huawei charger is 1.0 A output . Nothing will happen if you use a 2.0 A.The 5V are all the phone needs and all the usb charges make 5V.The more the Amps the quicker it charges.

you won't damage battery with 2A.. but it is limit.. don't go higher.. (actually u even can't bcos they making chargers up to 2A)

is normal to take more than 4 hours to charge up to 100% the battery?

Use a charger with more power....an iPad charger provides 2a current nd 10 watts power...it should reduce charging time...while the one with the note gives 1a....

Using a PC port? Computer USB ports only output 100 ma. We have a 2500 mah battery. So you're looking at at least 25 hours for a full charge.

As far as I know, according to USB specs, it should have 500mA. (5 hours charging time).
I believe that there is a charger provided with the Note that is at least 1000mA.

That's right, yesterday i ler it charging while doing a benchmark, in the pc it loses 2% and hardly came to the same Power that before. Out in the samsung charger it's much master, i dont have lose any power at all.

Any USB charger that plugs into a wall should output much more power, generally up to one amp. Any USB charger should work.
I use the one that came with my mytouch 4g because it is tiny.
My iPad charger outputs 2.1A, the Samsung charger only outputs 1A. Since the Note's battery is only 2.5A, it will be fully charged within 1 hr and 12 mins with the iPad charger. Using the standard Samsung charger it will take 2 hr and 20 mins.
Using an USB-port it would take you approximately 25 hours since the USB-port only outputs 0.1A. There is no way to draw more power from this port, since it's the 'safe' limit of the USB-circuitry.
thanks i have buy it today, and now i am going to test it.
Later i will give you a feedback
After 1:30 Min is about 50%, do you think the 2,1 amp's aren't being used?

Should be OK. My phone usually takes 3 hours to charge as well.
thanks, i tough that the phone has some problem.
2500mAh/1000mA = 2.5Hrs.
But I think the charge curve for lithium batteries isn't linear, the amount of juice near the end is reduced by the controller, so all in all 3hrs for an almost drained battery seems reasonable.

Original Charger

My phone charger broke and now it connects to the phone with a lot of difficulty, so I can hardly charge the phone. Do you happen to have any link to original charger where I can buy?
Here-
Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson...?ie=UTF8&qid=1344437610&sr=8-1&keywords=ep800
eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-So...ccessories&hash=item19ce80b4d1#ht_1477wt_1154
Just go down to any nearest Sony Ericsson service center, there you can get original charger..

samsung provides 850mA current while our charger has 1A.
as our battery is 1200mAh we can give max 1.2A current to it (considering 1C discharge)
so i recommend to use any USB charger with 5V and 1A rating. apple chargers also use the same.
also buy a good company charger. dont use any china charger as they lack in overvoltage protection and all (i am not offending any chinese people in xda ).
and our PC USB port provides 5V 500mA, so we can use it also but it will take time to charge phone.
press thanks if helped.

every phone has built in charging IC and it provides high current with fast charging and when battery is about to charge full it reduces current and charges device normally so that there will not be any overcharging.
and our battery is LiPo not LiIon so we have advantages over more current draw and fast charging. also we can charge battery at ny time, it is not needed to charge it when battery is about to die to extend its life like in other batteries.
so you do not need to worry.
and my W8 original greenheart charger rating is 5V 1A

Quite wrong there. The only thing that will happen is that the phone will take longer to charge if the mAmperes are less than the original chargers. If they are more it wont have any problem or it may even charge faster depending on the internal charge controller.
Just so you keep it in mind, the mAmps a charger states, is the MAXIMUM it can provide, not the mAmps it FORCES into the device.Every device drains as much power as it is configured to drain when it was built.
Its the OUTPUT voltage you must be careful at, though every charger the last 8 years outputs 5-7 volts which is fine.
@above
True.. The phone will only draw the power it requires even if the charger has a higher rating..

Nonsense is not a very polite word, i d prefer inaccurate.
In this case both statements are wrong. There is no manufacturer constrain when using smartphones and chargers, as long as they both have the same plug (aka micro usb).
The chargers are not actually chargers, they are power supplies. As stated above each phone only takes the amount of power its charge controller IC dictates it to.So there is no better life with samsung charger nor SE for SE phones and not combining with other devices.
Use whatever charger you can find (as long as it is of some brand) and it will do the trick. If it says many mAs(like 1000 or more) good for, you, faster charge if the phone allows it, if it says less mAs you ll just have to wait more, but the battery wont get damaged, whatever charger you use!

Why dont you grab a 70Ah charger and try and tell us your results then? :good:
In the meantime read carefully what i posted. i stated :' if the phone allows it". Meaning you can put a 2Ah charger but unless the phones charge controller allows it you cant charge in that rate.Ofc you shouldnt charge Lithium batteries with more than 1C in the first place but thats another story.
Finally i ve converted old cellphone chargers i had in a shelf to have USB output and they all work great, though they charge slower since they are 500mAh rated.

Yes I use a charger from a HTC One M8 and the Mate S charges in about 2.5 hours
For the huawei fast charge, you just need a charger with min. 2A and an compatible cable. E.g. the standard huawei charger cable. I'm using an 24W dual USB charger from Anker and the standard huawei cable. Phone takes between 2h-3h to charge from 10%-100%

I had read something about Fast Charge, a new tech announced by Huawei last November: about 40% of extra juice with a very short 5 mins charge.
The novelty here: (supposedly) no harm done whatsoever to the battery's lifespan/capacity.
I guess i thought that Mate S could be using it already, but no such luck.
Well, to be honest i haven't measured a full cycle charge using the original charger.
If we could get from 10% to 100% for less than 2.5 hours that's not bad at all :good:
Thank you for the tips.

Which FAST charger I should order for my new Huawei P9

Hi to all
Just ordered a new EVA-AL00 from eBay last night. I am living in Canada. May I know which charger I should order to take advantage of the quick charging capability of the P9 ?
Is P9 using QC 2.0 or 3.0 ?
Please kindly advise ASAP.

I'm considering buying this phone over the S7 (although still undecided) and I still don't get the battery thing (charging or battery life, I get people telling me all sorts of contradictory things that I'm having a hard time to fact check). That 9V/2A charger doesn't come with the phone, right? How much faster is that Huawei charger compared with the 5V that comes with the phone and what is it called since I can't find it on their site or anywhere? Is that the Mate 8 charger?

Well, no EU plug still available. But it will be later I think. It is not QC 2 or 3, it won't work. Search for "Huawei 9V 2A Charger".
The result should be like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-9V...hash=item280f7d97a4:m:mNQwKZr7I5KHReS9CA2RwkA
As I metioned, no EU plug yet, so via adapter only.

It's fine, it will charge as a standard charger at 5V. I would have to brush up my Ohm's law but I don't even get why Huawei's standard charger on the P9 has 2 Amp electric current value. What matters is the voltage going into the battery and you don't need a 2 Amp charger to give you 5 volts, a regular 1amp will be able to do that. The only difference I know is that 5V at 1 amp are 5 watts and 5V at 2 amps are 10 W. But that has only to do with resistance, I think, a battery isn't fed on watts?
I'm really on the fence about this fast charging thing now. I never got it. Qualcomm's has its QC 2.0 tech but a Motorola charger is faster than any other. An S7 Edge with amuch bigger battery charges as fast as an HTC 10 and the Edge has a 2.0 QC and the HTC is 3.0. The G5 is also 3.0 and charges way faster than the HTC, even compensating for the different battery capacity. And I own a G2 which has no fast charging at all and will charge from 0 to 100% in less than 2 hours on a 5V generic charger, which isn't very far off the times I see with 3000mah batteries and Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0... Why these differences?? No idea... Somehow I think battery chemistry has a lot to do with it (it does in the RC and electronic cigarette world) but I never see anyone addressing that.
^^^^sorry for the rambling, just thinking/writing out loud

Nearly right! A little analogy may help... Think of Voltage (V) as the diameter of the water tap, Ampage (A) as the speed of the water through the tap and Wattage (W) as how quick you want the bath the taps are filling!
So you can see, a small diameter tap but high water speed will still not fill bath very quickly, neither will a big diameter tap and slow water speed...you need both together. So 9V2A should charge quicker than 5V2A (18W compared to 10W).
As I understand it the P9 will accept charging at 9V and 2A (their Fast Charging) giving max 18W input so a 9V2A charger should give the best results (which is what the P8's fast charger is)...and what the qualcomm quick charge 2.0 (and 3.0) spec can provide. Now i'm not saying the P9 is a qualcomm quick charge phone, it's not, but my QC2.0 and 3.0 car chargers certainly charge my phone quicker than the included mains charger! So i suspect that the car chargers are providing 9V2A to the phone.
Whether this means any 9V2A charger would do......I don't know

Are you sure a 2AMP charger makes a difference compared to the stock charger that ships with the phone? Could you download an app that measures the charging rate & post a screenshot of the charging rates?
I've tried charging with both a 2AMP charger and the stock & the results are the same, I see no difference in charging speed & no difference is shown on the "Ampere" app, both charges at around a max of 980ma with screen on (I assume it goes up to 1A, when screen is off).

I've tried charging with both a 2AMP charger and the stock & the results are the same, I see no difference in charging speed & no difference is shown on the "Ampere" app, both charges at around a max of 980ma with screen on (I assume it goes up to 1A, when screen is off).
