AT&T is locked. Go T-Mobile.

I have an offer from work to upgrade a modem line and get an S6, which I could drop my own AT&T SIM in. Unfortunately I'm with T-Mobile. I successfully have unlocked several other Samsung phones following instructions from XDA.. wondering if this will be possible with this device? I'd love to hear any thoughts on this.

Can you elaborate? I'm certainly speaking about a US Carrier lock, that is being able to use the device on another carrier besides AT&T. If It's an AT&T S6/S6 Edge, why would I attempt to/want to unlock the device, to then just use it on AT&T? I'm so confused.

I just recently switched from an iPhone 6 to a S6 Edge. Got a really cheap one off of eBay but was locked to ATT. Long story short I unlocked to use with T-Mobile and now I want to know if I can put a T-Mobile ROM on it from the T-Mobile S6 forum. Right now I'm running ATT Clean Rom.

Let me understand you.. have you a G925T "Tmobile S6 edge" and you want use this phone with AT&T sim card? easy, look in ebay "remote unclock g925T"
I'm thinking about buying a Galxay S5. I have ATT. When I see one for sale "unlocked". Is that referring to the bootloader?
Can the ATT S5 be rooted?

That would be referring to the SIM being unlocked. The AT&T S5 bootloader can not be unlocked at this time...maybe never. You can root it though, see the link below.

Device unlock app should be on your phone and that is what most people use to unlock the phone. You have to be a T-Mobile customer.

I'm asking because I read on Verizon website that they don't lock most of their phones: http://www.verizon.com/about/consumer-safety/device-unlocking-policy
I'm thinking about getting one S8 from Samsung.com, but I want to be sure first if it comes factory unlocked or if it is possible to unlock it with a 3rd party service, which I haven't been able to find yet.
