[Q] Galaxy S6 lock screen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

Coming from HTC one m8. I find the lock screen on galaxy s6 is very childish like.
The Water Ripple Effect is extremely annoying.
I can't turn it off unless I turn off the finger print security.
Even when I do the other lock screens are no better.
Anyway around this.
Thanks.

Lots of settings, a good thing for customization fanboys but normal people will miss a lots of this options because they don't go into all this settings options

No water ripple effect on mine and I have finger print security on. I am using the black theme in the theme store, maybe that made the difference.

Turn the water ripple effect off. Or Choose a different effect. Or go to the app store and install a different lockscreen that you can make do whatever you want. Did you attempt any of these options before posting?

I did. Other lock screens are not always working correctly.
Anyway. I was able to disable it. Had to turn off finger print first to get to the other lock screen options.

Personally, I replaced it with Widget Locker, because it works better..

When I install Widget Locker, it doesn't disable the original lock screen, so now I have to unlock twice - first Widget Locker and then Samsung Locker. How did you work around it?
Don't know if it is a bug, but when you set the powerbutton action to "shutdown", the lockscreen is disabled also. Look in the code thread for the code, or download sgs info from the app forum to set the powerbutton action.

The other lockscreen does show sometimes I have noticed (such as for alarm), but ensure all security on it is turned off for things to work properly. Also, you might just need to set the options better.
I use widget locker even though it does lag a bit because I find the samsung unlock too sensitive (even in JM5)

I had the same problem.
I liked the Widget Locker, but this "bug" is so boring.
I must admit I hate the Sweep to unlock screen. I'd much rather have the stock Android lock screen.

If you set the power button to shutdown, can you still lock the screen with it?

its a little buggy, when I press power button it first shows the default galaxy s lockscreen than the simpe lockscreen. Second the clock remains at the same hour, it changes only when I unlock the device and than lock it back, after that it freezes again, its not real time
i don't have that problem, it works for me
i just want "Sweep glass to unlock" to be completely removed
anyone know what is the name of the APK "Sweep glass to unlock" in Titanium Backup?
I'll try out simply lock, I like widget locker because earlier I had a bunch of widgets and apps on it that I'd be most likely to call up when unlocking (maps, internet, power control, weather widget.)
Now, with LauncherPro's gesture shortcuts I have blank homescreens and just dock icons with a dual functions since I use a gesture on them. Now, I've cleaned out widget locker to look at my beautiful background. Meanwhile, I can get to my homescreen by pressing home, back and/or having a lock icon (vanilla, widgetlocker, sense, and I think 2 other options).
Definitely liking this look to my phone more than all the others I have tried. I even use a bit of livewallpapers for the first time, doesn't hurt my battery life too much as long as they allow my phone to sleep (I've noticed one that wouldn't so I keep my eye open for battery drain when I wake my phone after the screen is off).
i use live VR wallpaper and or the Mario live wallpaer
those 2 are fun
the rest are okay but boring, i tried matrix, nexus, all the ones that came with the phone, etc.
still waiting for some more interesting ones to pop up in the horizon, something more interactive
I enabled the standard unlock pattern under settings-location and security
I much prefer it to the sweep glass.

There's a great little app called 'No lock'.
Search for 'No lock' on the app market.(Its a free app. Also has handy widget)
i tried no lock again, but it doesn't work
"Sweep glass to unlock" will still show up after reboot
no lock is just another lock screen
same problem here, i don't like "like sweep to unlock" either
do u guys have any solution yet ?

I assume you've seen aCircuit Board? Isn't too bad, paid apps weren't available when it came out but I'll probably get it soon. I actually want to get the free one that works with beautiful widgets (haven't bought beautiful widgets because every has been saying its been broken from an update, but when they fix it I'll probably be all over both).
I definitely like the ones that use the accelerometer/motion sensors like the VR paper. I saw one with Android Andy's falling, but it looked a bit too cartoonish for me.
I found Ocean Waves to be quite interactive and nice enough, but it was the one that I've isolated to giving my phone sleep issues so I wont be using it.

Yeah, I agree, I was using that until I got widgetlocker because I found myself having much less "re-dos" on unlock attempts. Now, I just hit a softkey and I'm to my home screen or if you want you can have a slide to unlock that I find more intuitive and accurate than sweep glass.

Funny how it works great for me.
After the screen times out,no matter how long I wait.. when I press the home key the screen lights up again without the need to sweep. Even after rebooting it works,no need to activate it again.
Awesome.

You have to launch No Lock and tap the icon in the middle to active it.

Original Aria lock screen?

I love my newly rooted Aria... I do however miss my lock screen. I loved having the Aria lock, where you pull the whole lock screen down to get to your apps. With CM6 you get the slide bar to unlock. It's not terrible, but I'd really really prefer to use the old Aria lock screen... Anyone know if this is available anywhere or how I go about doing it? Thanks in advance...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I BELIEVE that lock screen is sense ui and since sense (that sounds weird) is proprietary it cannot be added to CM6...there are however many lock screen apps that will allow you to choose something remarkably similar to the sense lock screen...widget locker is one of them.
Also, how did you manage to get the slide? When I unlock (bring my phone back from standby) it just shows me my visible dots for unlock pattern and once I enter that brings me to my home screen...

Hm, did you try just disabling your lock pattern? It's either in the CM6 settings or the ADW Launcher settings. By default after I rooted my phone the lock screen was a little slider bar, not like the iphone slider, it was a little tab on the left of the screen and when you hold it you slide it to the right. I ended up just disabling my lock screen completely but would go back to the old sense lock if I figure out how. I do remember reading somewhere that disabling the dot lock pattern will default to the slider lock screen, should work for you.

Swipe to screenshot does not work with Nova Launcher, annoying IR remote on lock scr

Can anyone confirm that motion sensors and motion guided commands do not work when you do NOT use Touch Wiz? I am using Nova Launcher and the hand swipe to screenshot does not work.
Also, I tested out the IR Remote control app which worked great but now even after i close the app, on my lock screen, the remote functions are still there.
http://i.imgur.com/L4f6dwp.png
It hasn't gone away since last night. I closed out, closed process etc, still just hangs around the lock screen. When i press the channel/volume buttons from the lock screen, the blue light shines showing that it is currently activated and on. I believe this is a possible bug. I'm worried it's draining my battery as well. Please help.
Bonus help: how do you change the background on the lock screen?

On the S4 there's a setting within the app where you can disable the lock screen and notification panel settings. You'd think that they should still be there on the S5. Open the app, go to the menu and check the settings there.

Yeah, that drove me nuts too when I first used the feature on my S4.....Hopefully getting the S5 and Gear Neo this weekend.
Swipe to screenshot works fine for me with Next Launcher 3D.

i figure swipe to capture out, your hand had to actually glide ON the screen. This whole time I thought it was an air motion that the sensors on the front caught. it isn't that at all but based on the hand touching the actual glass. I guess this is what happens for first time Samsung users... mods feel free to delete this thread.
SOLVED! I had the same issue (swipe screen grab not working) and tried everything with my Galaxy S6 after I installed Marshmallow and also Nova launcher for first time. Not sure which one caused it... Anyway, after going through a million "fixes" that didn't work, this one finally did!
- Go to your phone dialer and dial: *#2663#
- That will bring up a developer menu. Once you're in the menu press the button titled "TSP FW Update (General)". Let it got through the update (just a few seconds) and viola!!! You're swipe screen grab or any other touch screen weirdness work perfectly again!
Thanks . Solved even S pen problem on screen capture

Hovering over the lock screen

I have seen in N3 when you hover over the lockscreen without touching it, it creates the effect on the wallpaper.
My N4 is not doing it - I have to touch it to see the effect. Is there a setting somewhere or is it absent in N4 or did I just get a bad one?

Are you talking that ripple ink thingy? I guess they finally figured out it had no place on such a hit end device. There a a few things that were on the 3 that didn't make it to the 4.

Yes - thanks! Glad to know that its not my device. My kid always loved it. He thought its magic that it rippled without touching and that;s the first thing he caught

Extra lock screen?

I have an always on lock screen that showing time on a black/turned off screen. However, from time to time when I pick up the phone from my packet there is this lock screen that showing my lock screen background and a clock. Only on that screen I cannot unlock the phone, face recognition, pattern and finger print is not available on that screen. I have to press power button to lock the phone and only afterwards I can use my finger print to unlock it.
It is very annoying because as I said I have to re-lock the phone to unlock it again.
I looked in the settings under lock screen, biometrics and could not find how to Iget rid of that ghostly lock screen?
If you dont use always on edge (aoe) then I think you mean the always on screen, but you actually can unlock from it, it should Show you the Fingerprint area.
It appears when you tap the screen when it's turned of, tapping this screen twice gets you to the normal lockscreen.
I've seen that recently... It's like a screen saver except I didn't enable one.. Lol

Bingo..it must trigger in my pocket bc that’s when I’ve seen it ..gesture back got it for me
iPhone X
That happens if you double tap the clock from the lock screen
Yep exactly that's it. But what is it for? Back gesture brings you back to lockscreen. Fp does not work. Power button lock the screen again.
Seems like some kind of Screensaver accessed through lockscreen.

How does one get rid of this "screen saver" extra screen?
