Widget Resizing? Circles widget? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got a N6. Haven't done much except unlock bootloader, root, and transfer over most of my old apps and such. Quick question I can't find an easy answer to: Is there any way in the default launcher to forcibly resize widgets/stretch them out? A lot of the ones I'd normally use are 4x1 or 4x2, and it just looks terrible on the 5 column launcher.
In addition, is there any way to get a circles widget with similar functionality to the one from my old Droid Razr Maxx HD? I've found a few that have similar skins (most usefully One More Clock) but none that have the ability to flip the circles and see different cities, notifications, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Nova launcher and Zooper widgets would be my suggestion.

Nova Launcher did fix 95% of my widget problems, so thank you very much for that. A little annoying to no longer be able to swipe left for google now, but I'll take it.
Zooper still isn't quite the same as the original motorola widget, nowhere near the functionality. I'll keep making do with One More Clock I suppose. It looks better now that I can resize the widget at least.

Zooper widget is 100% programmable you can download other templates and make it do anything you want to with whatever image you want to do it with. The widget can have 10 functions if you will if you wish. Check out the discussion group on Google Plus there are also forums dedicated to it here. There's some really impressive widgets out there
In Nova with swipe gestures you can fire up any program you wish not exactly the same as Google now but you can fire up the Google app.

[Q] What are your must have widgets?

After some searching, it didn't seem there was a thread simply discussing great homescreen widgets. I'll be getting my first Android tablet tomorrow, so I'd love to hear what widgets you've found the most useful on the G Tablet. What can't you live without?
Launcher Pro widgets are awesome, very similar to HTC Sense widgets.

Did you buy the full version? Hows the calendar widget. I have yet to find a better calendar widget that works for me like the HTC Sense calendar widget.
Can you post a pic of the largest caledar widget Launcher Pro has?
Thanks,
Scott

You do have to buy launcher pro to get widget access but its cheep and worth it. Launcher pro has 3 or 4 sizes to chose from. If you plan on rooting the Vegan 5.1 rom has a calander widget that is full screen and works amazing.

If you setup LP 8 columns x 5 rows the Widgets fill about half the screen. The calendar widget is very nice, it's not an exact clone of the sense version but pretty close. Gotta pay to unlock the use of the widgets.

Jorte is a great calendar program, with a superb tablet widget. Sync to Google calendar and the widget can display a full month, with daily detail(!), not just icons. I love it.
I just grabbed the full version of Launcher Pro Plus. Very worth it! The transitions (cube, rotate, flip and shrink) are very cool.

News
I can't seem to find a good news widget that is in column format and updates about 8 news items on my screen at once. News and Weather and GoodNews aren't working for me. Does anyone use one that they like?
And to avoid hijacking the thread, the main widgets I use are:
~LauncherPro Calendar
~TweetDeck (though the default Twitter and Facebook widgets are not bad)
~Sense Analog Clock Dark
~ScoreMobile
~Bookmarks
I use the launcher pro Widgets and typoclock permanently on the screen. If I'm listening to music I put the mixzing widget on the screen.
I'm going to check out jorte now though.
I tried Jorte (which I use and love on my phone) on the g-Tab, but the text was all fuzzy... I suppose I need to play around with the settings a bit. Anyone have settings that work well..?

Pulse is great. It's not a Widget but does a good job at what you are looking for.

Give Pulse a try. You can Add/remove different news sources and have many of them at once on your screen.

HTC Launcher doesn't let you do that, you will need a 3rd party launcher.
I downloaded Nova Launcher from the Play Store. it will allow you to resize widgets
It depends on the widget but with the stock launcher when I added my calendar widget, I just held my finger on it, a blue border appeared and I stretched it to fill one of my screens.
Some widgets don't allow resizing by default and you need another launcher but ones like the calendar do.
Thank You Everyone
That kind of bums me out a bit... don't get me wrong i love some other launchers and stuff but i kind of like having my blinkfeed etc and keeping my phone like it currently is, just wish this was a function built in.....

Google search bar and widgets

So I received my x and it looks wonderful. I decided to boot it without a sim and not set my google account to it yet. One thing I noticed that I dislike is the google search bar is on every page, is there a way to remove it ? Also the widgets on the Phone seem to be rather weak when compared to my Motorola xt860 which has a much wider selection and some that are much more useful such as quick contacts which is probably my favorite widget. Also is there a stock weather widget b/c I cannot seem to find one.
There's thousands of widgets on play store. And Nova is a great launcher to replace stock, and you can get rid of the google bar on it.

I did check for similar widgets couldn't really find any that were that close. I will check out Nova, but there is no way for this to be done w/ stock ?
Couldn't find a way to get rid of them either so switched to an alternative launcher as well. Nova is very good, but have recently switched from Nova to the Action Launcher Pro. I'd suggest trying that one out as well.

[Q] Circle widget in Google Now launcher

Hi!
I've installed google now launcher, and I like it rather than the stock launcher. But, when I want to use the motorola circle widget, I can´t, because only can use in motorola launcher. What alternative I have to use a circle widget in my screen?
Greetings,
Fernando

I don't remember if someone eventually did it, but the devs were working on a installable moto circle widget. Last I checked, they didn't get it to work, but search the forums to see if they did.
Edit: check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2936056
one more clock
One more clock on the play store is the closest thing I can find. Pretty cool you can assign 8 different spots to apps when u click on it.

Pixel Zooper Widget

I didn't like how small the pixel search bar was so I made one that was bigger to use with Action Launcher 3 you can use Nova as well it doesn't really matter I have them both installed on my phone and I'm at the Google Assistant function to Nova Launcher that's the only reason I keep it installed they're both great launchers I just prefer the features in actions right now for my own particular reasons not taking anything away from the developers of either app. This is my custom Zooper I made it completely from scratch.
Very nice
Thank you for sharing, this is nice and I agree with you preferring the Nova launcher.
Screen shot?

Screenshot?
Here one is on Nova and the other on AL3.
In order for Google assistant to work when you press the mic, you have to either use Nova or keep Nova installed or you can load the widget in to Zooper and remapp the mic to another action that invokes the assistant. Also for quick editing the widget you can touch the divider on the bubble or the rectangle under the bubble in order to enter editing mode in Zooper. Instead of opening and shutting.
Here's another one I made.
