Mod to unthrottle the throttle? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

Would this be possible?

Perhaps a bit more clarity in what you are having an issue with? What throttle is it that you are having applied to your..... service??

Not having an issue, was just wondering if we can hide data usage from Tmobile so that our "unlimited" plan is ACTUALLY unlimited and not throttled when we reach a certain point of data usage (I know they have a 30$ data plan for true unlimited data).

Nope, nothing you can do at all in that case. Even with say, a VPN, data still moves as data (even if they cant see the contents of the packets), and will be counted as such.

I didnt think TMObile did any throttling.
The most I have done on one month was 400GB+ while tethered with the hotspot hack on my Note 4 to my XBox One and PC and Laptop all full speed all month.

I am pretty sure he is talking about hiding the usage of tethering... You CAN do that with wifi tether Router and it is a working solution for now, but T-Mobile fights it pretty hard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNJrzgRp4wM This method works 100% 4 me!

Native tethering is wayyyyy better. It toggles a lot faster and shares the full speed connection. The mod is on the forums.
Op is trying to get unlimited 4G data while only paying for 3/5gb etc. If you really need that much the $30 plan is pretty reasonable and you'll be at ~2MB/sec well over 100GB per month.

That's also what I'm talking about. Both the Note 4 and LG G3 have customs Roms where when you enable tethering (stock) tethering, the data counts twords your original unlimited data not twords your hotspot data thus allowing me to do 400GB+ that month.

I think what the OP is trying to ask is how to use his 5GB plan, at full speed, past the 5GB plan. You have unlimited data, but only 5GB at full LTE speed, after that you still have data it is just throttled to 2g speeds. No way around that. You need to upgrade to the $80 plan if you want true, unlimited speed past 5GB.

Best way is to pay for unlimited

Just pay the extra money and don't try to cheat or steal. T-Mobile is pretty reasonable all around.

[Q] Verizon's $20/month hotspot add on

So I currently have a $35 3GB/month plan for the Xoom and unlimited data on the D3. The mobile hotspot app is $20 a month. Of course if we had root I could just tether and not worry about it, but I have a question.
I can't really find anywhere concrete, but is that hotspot capped at 2 GB? I feel like I've read this somewhere but can't confirm. It just makes sense to me to pay $20 (if not $0) instead of $35/month. I bought it contract free, I just like the idea of having internet on it without having to get the phone out.
It also seems like tethering is slower than if the tablet had its own connection. No LTE in my area, so the LTE upgrade still wouldn't help me (if it would hurry up and come out already, I've heard whispers, but no emails).
Thoughts?

Help with verizon tethering plan.

Hey guys..I went to the verizon store to get the extended battery for the bionic. While I was there I asked one of the reps about the mobile hotspot and if I would have unlimited data use with it because I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered) ofcourse. He told me that I would only be able to use 2gb for tethering. Well thats a load of BS. who would really pay for tethering with a 2gb limit? Now I understand that the reps at the verizon store and any store for that matter dont know everything and can sometimes give you very misleading information. This is why I want someone on this forum that really know how this work if I would only get 2gb limit or a limit at all for the $30 tethering option I see on my account option from verizon. thanx!
Watching one movie over Netflix would put you close to 2GB. It's a f*cking joke.

If you have the $30 plan, it's unlimited. I signed up for it on the website. It doesn't say its unlimited, just doesn't say there is a cap on that plan.

If you have the grandfathered Unlimited smartphone plan, you can add the $30 4G Hotspot plan and its truely unlimited but no one knows if its throttled or not. One of my co-workers is at 50Gb so far and no decrease in speeds. If you have the new usage based plans starting at $30/2gb then if you add the $20 hotspot w/2Gb, then you have 4Gbs to use via phone or hotspot.

Do people with unlimited 4g also pay a regular Internet bill for their computer?

I was too late in the game to get unlimited data but for those of you have it, I know there are ways to tether for free on unlimited. So do most of you just use your phone for all your Internet access? If so that's really lucky, that you pay a very low flat-rate and have high-speed Internet on multiple devices. Honestly though please don't be obnoxious about it and torrent stuff because there are a lot of us who pay more than you just to have 4g on our phones and when you download so much it causes our data to lag. I noticed LTE in my area is slower than it was before another carrier with lots of unlimited data users turned LTE on here.
Tmobile had unlimited Internet and you can get free tethering by using one of the many hacks out. As far as your question, I doubt it. The Internet is usually faster, but who wants to leave their phone at home when downloading something on the computer (just one of many issues)? Plus, your connection to the Internet can fluctuate depending on many didn't factors. Unlike high speed internet which is usually more reliable.

I have been using Wi-Fi here at my crib and still am. Earlier this week, Big Red decided to spread d 4G out to my area where I live. But I will still keep my high speed Internet. Gaming and other things through tethering just can't keep up.
I don't have a dsl/home internet b/c Comcast has a monopoly on the Chicagoland area and I despise them. W/ that said I've been on unlimited data with Verizon since data packages began. I also pay the $30 for hotspot. I try to be ethical about it when I can, even when I know Verizon is anything but ethical.
I use anywhere from 6 gigs to 150 gigs a month depending on what shows are on or what new roms are being nightly'd. I also don't have cable. 95% of cable/satellite is junk.

Switching from verizon

Hey guys im debating on switching from verizon because of there new plans are ridiculous im on m8 right now so I would probably want the m9. Im going to get the unlimited data plan and I was wondering how hard it is to get wifi tethering working I plan on rooting it first thing so are there any roms such as cynagen or google play I could just use. Also I was wondering if its difficult to root right now with the lollipop update.
I believe you still get tethering included in your plan. I have the unlimited data plan and I get 7gb of mobile hotspot included.

I switched from vzw unlimited plan to tmo's unlimited plan about 2 months ago.
I am not very satisified with the service, yes you will get 5 gb free mobile hotspot (this can be bypassed by using pdanet usb tethering). If you go over 5gb they throttle your speed down.
Also if you go over 21 gb they "re-prioritize" your data as they call it (I call it throttling) which I think is BS.
Their data speeds suck in my area compared to vzw but not always the case depending on where you are, you can get some fast speeds.
Rooting is not an issue as you can unlock the bootloader from htc's site and flash twrp, and the supersu zip.
As far as Roms, just a few so far. Leedroids is about the best I have used but you may loose wifi calling and volte.
I would read up on their re-prioritizing before switching.
Hope this helps

Ive got only 3gigs on verizon right now so its not that big of an issue as long as they dont throttle you to 2g im good as far as service goes according the coverage map i have fair 4g at my house and its good everywhere else same with verizon. For tethering though can you use the roms built in wifi tethering option if you switch the apn because I cant stand pda net

Yes, you get 5gb of tethering (mobile hotspot) no need to switch apn,
I was asking if you can bypass that with the roms built in tethering if you have unlimited data instead of using pda net

No the built in hotspot only allows you 5gb of tethering, this limit cannot be bypassed with a custom Rom or like you can with Vzw (another reason I'm unhappy with tmo).

I guess it would depend on how the tethering was implemented in the ROM you choose. If it does not use the TMobile apk/solution, then you likely would not have the 5GB limit. If it does, it will. How to tell...? Ask the people building the ROM(s). I will be using PDANet for tethering; it's simple, works fine, and 1 wire is not that big a deal to me.
I'm jumping to TMobile because my wife has an old plan that I can sneak in on that will give me everything I need (effectively unlimited/non-throttling UDP) for $100 LESS per month than Verizon. I've been with them since the days of Bell Atlantic, but I'm tired of the cost & tyranny on their phone choices. Will I have as good of coverage? Not likely, but for the areas I will be in, it's sufficient, so why waste the extra $100?
T-Mobile's recent tethering crackdown can detect pretty much every workaround so far, at least on Sense ROMs. Cyanogenmod has always given me unlimited tethering in the past, but I haven't tried it with this phone, and I can't risk them busting me again if it doesn't work. IIRC you get one warning, after that they drop you down to a capped data plan and you're permanently banned from unlimited. I've already gotten that warning, and I was tethering to an Android tablet through a VPN, with several deep-level tweaks to make it undetectable. The day after their crackdown announcement, I was tethering and I got a warning. I couldn't tether again until I wiped my phone and flashed a different rom before going back to the one I'd been on, to completely undo all of the tweaks. Now I'm back to 7GB of tether data. I wouldn't risk trying to circumvent it more than once if you get a warning.

Should I be concerned? (Note 4 T-Mobile Hotspot Question)

I'm going to preface this by saying that I am NOT on a T-Mobile unlimited data plan, and I do NOT use alot of tethering data. In fact I've only used it 3 times since October when I switched to T-Mobile from Sprint.
My Wife and I are on the Family Share Plan, with 10GB each. We both have maxed out our 20GB stash, and rarely use more than 3 or 4 GB a month, with the occasional blirp to 6 or 7.
I have Note 4, rooted with TEKXodus 7.2. It of course has a hotspot hack built in. I had an emergency and needed to do something on my laptop that would not work on my phone, and had no access to WiFi. Used about 500MB. Just to be clear, the data used with the hotspot on my note 4 DOES still count against my monthly 10GB of LTE allotment. It's not like I'm getting "free data" as those on the unlimited plans are. They get unlimited smartphone data, but only 7GB of hotspot data. The same hotpsot hack also masks the data so it's counted as smartphone data not hotspot data. Apparently T-Mobile can now detect this, and is supposed to be cracking down on it by bumping people down to a tiered plan, or booting them from the network all together.
I noticed on my My T-Mobile app that it shows .5 GB of 0.00
I don't "fit the picture" of the people John Legere is complaining about when they announced cracking down on the unlimited tethering abusers.
Should I be concerned since my plan technically does not come with a tethering allotment like the unlimited plans do. This has never happened in the other 3 months where I've used a small amount of tethering data.

They may charge a small amount. Not sure on the 10gb shared plan. BTW, above you said that you used about 500 Gigabytes tethering and I went
But I see that you meant M not G
Edit: just looked at tmos website and you are good to tether up to your full allotment on a set data plan. Unlimited shows 14GB tether allotment.
Click the 10Gb option and then click the magenta i under it. Near the bottom of the full size text it talks about tethering.
