LightFlow. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Just so everyone knows. If you were wondering if LightFlow plays nice with the S6 it does indeed.
Even without root all the notification settings im using work wonderfully.
I remember the LED in the Note 2 not giving me very many colors with Lightflow. But so far I have white, yellow, red, blue, green,
Now i wish the developer would make something to use the "edge lighting" in the same way the LED works.

Really, I can't get it to work at all. What setting are you using to make it work? I've been emailing with the developer and still no luck after a number of settings changes.

Strike that, appears to be working now. Didn't work when I restored a backup of the old notification configuration from my S5, but when I reinstalled the app and manually configured the notification settings it all worked fine

Not interested, Light Manager for me. Light Flow has worked fine with past phones and then all of a sudden it turns into a battery hog and heats up my phone. I've made enough complaints with the dev about it and nothing's been fixed so I've left them entirely.

Yes, after I first unboxed it and started browsing through the settings, I was surprised at how fast it was and how slow my battery life was decreasing. Once I started loading my apps, it gradually started slowing down and now the battery life is horrible. Since it's an AMOLED screen, I might need to stick to dark themes to save my battery life.

[Q] What happen to the notification...

Somehow the notification thingy (red dot with number of unread emails) is not showing anymore. This is for the built-in email client that came with the Gnote.
I have a feeling its because I have ADW EX as my launcher now. Just want some confirmation, and is there a way to get it back?
Thanks.
If you're using ADW, then you'll need ADWNotifier.
Thanks, but doesn't work with the Samsung email client.

It has killed my phone before. It obviously came up and was there for hours, and the screen just drained the battery. I also assume it prevented the phone sleeping. This was with the Xperia Arc.
There are settings that can prevent this, but then I found the situation fairly useless as the notification was not there when I wanted it. I could not find a method that suited me.
I have no bought (waiting delivery) one of those wristbands that vibrate when you get a notification, call, or leave your phone behind . I think that will work better for me. Still waiting for an Android watch that does not look like a brick on your wrist.

Active Notifications Flicker?

Wanted to see if anyone elses' X does this.
Go into a dark/pitch black room.
Face down your phone and pick it up / get the AN to trigger.
Watch your screen after the AN fades out.
Does your whole screen go through a wavy/flicker effect? Lasts about 1 second. Looks slightly grey/brownish. Not so noticeable when it's bright out.
I have noticed this. I wanted to see if the active notification pixels were the only ones lighting up and I think they are. However, there is that brief moment that the whole screen is emitting enough light to be noticeable.
Ya I have noticed this too but only in very dark rooms. I'm not to worried; battery life is great for my usage.

I have find this app, it's the same as Motos Active Screen, but it doesn't flicker for me.

App to run Moto X in grayscale to save battery like GS5?

Is it possible for an app to run the phone in grayscale?

I am very interested in this too. To be honest, I'm surprised nobody thought to do this for the Moto X's active display in the first place. :silly:
I would love a feature like that! My battery is pretty miserable on my moto x (huge android OS drain). Don't know if it's me always be in poor reception areas or what but not cool.

I don't know/think there is an app to do exact the same thing, but you could try an screen dimmer app, like screen dimmer or screen filter

Probably your problem isn't the screen if android OS is eating your battery
Android os gets bigger the more services you have enabled. Cut out some services you don't need running all the time and it will lower. Guaranteed.

Can you list an app that would make the screen black and another color or something that is usable to reduce battery life? If it can be done without root that would be very helpful :fingers-crossed:
My android os usage was really high when I was stock then I unlocked the bootloader and without changing the ROM or kernel and now its a non issue usually staying at around 7-10%
Maybe that means a factory reset would help for that? Help this helps and sorry if its off topic

I've actually looked in to this a little. The ideal scenario would be to run everything in "greenscale" as green takes the least power on amoled displays, I believe.
I was sad when I learned that the "Greenify" app wasn't what I wanted it to be...lol

Well there are a couple apps to add a colored tint to the screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kovit.p.filteryourscreen

So this is something the Galaxy S5 does? ive seen some of the phones that have the e-ink on one side, regular display on the other.. I would be very interested in that!
I use an app called "Color Wallpaper" to set a dark or black wallpaper color which helps save battery on the OLED screen.

I set my background to solid black. I just wish an app could change the color scale. I had a ROM one time that allowed it to all be changed to red, blue, or green. It would only use those colors. I think it was a ROM for an Evo 4G that was baked into it, but I don't remember.

After hunting around some I disabled touchless control and it made a huge difference. It was eating all sorts of power and creating lots of wakelocks in the background. I still barely can make it through a day but at least it isn't dead by lunch. I may try a factory reset once the at&t 4.4.2 is out for download.
Found an app that can change everything to grayscale (or green, red, blue, salmon)! It's called CF.lumen
SOS Launcher
I just started trying this app for when I am camping and need extreme battery life, SOS Launcher

the idea is similar to what you described, just make sure you reboot after setting it up.

Is there a notification LED on the Turbo?

I will be getting my turbo this afternoon. I'm also coming from a rooted s4 where I used titanium backup for my backup. I am sure going to miss being rooted ?.
Did you do anything to restore things, especially things from titanium backup, since I can't use tibu with the turbo? A little apprehensive here.
I will be getting the red 32 gb turbo (black one was unavailable on Verizon's website).
I'm hoping the change over goes smoothly.
Kinda sucks there's no LED but what are you gonna do. Its a trade off. When I got my this phone I just downloaded all the apps I had again can't do much with tibu without root access.

the screen turns on every few seconds and you can see by the icon what kind of notification it is, pretty simple
The LED would be pretty redundant with Moto Display.

Helium works. Just install it in your S4 and backup...
Then run it in the Turbo and you can restore your apps.
Just a reminder, most people had to manually set the device as Mot Composite USB in the device manager menu.
Let me know if it worked for you!
Alex, thx, for your response. I actually got my turbo yesterday afternoon. After signing into it, I just let Google do its thing. It downloaded most of my apps (took 2 or 3 hours), but, wasn't too bad.
I am enjoying playing with the phone and trying to learn how to use it. One thing I really miss about root is not having a good ad blocker (I used MOAB). Do you happen to know of any good non root ad blockers? Haven't googled, yet.

I tried using AdBlock Plus but it didn't work, however a Turbo user said it was working for him in another thread.
Helium can restore the appdata that Google might not be able.
A lot of games still don't cloud backup your saves, for example...

That is what i was hoping for. Even the moto x has it....maybe if we get root we can see if theres any hidden LEDs. Hopefully *crosses fingers*
I believe there is some sort of LED
So I let my DT die night before last and plugged it into the charger.
Low and behold, to the left of the front camera was a green LED in a vertical orientation. When the phone received enough of a charge, this light disappeared and the normal battery charging screen came up.
So maybe there is some LED action here ? I read somewhere else that the MOTO X also has/had a hidden LED.

Interesting...I let my Turbo die before and no LED ever shone on mine. I might have to try it again and see if it comes on. From everything I've read, the X has an LED as well, but people have only gotten it to shine through the bootloader and stuff.

No need to root.

This might be the first phone I leave stock. I do miss xposed on my htc, but aside from that. I don't see any reason to root. Am I the only one with similar feelings?

Honestly other than debloating, I could have left it stock as well.
I have incredibly itchy fingers though If I'm not messing with something that can turn my phone into a paperweight, I'm not having fun. Even the ram management stock wasn't noticeable to me. The Tmobile bloat is horrible, and I love loading ROMs and screwing with stuff I shouldn't be for the sake of the community.
LMT pie, adaway, custom roms, alliance framework, volume warning removal, de bloating, viper4android, etc... Root is always necessary.

You are not missing much by not rooting. Nothing out there anyways. Most bloat can be disabled. No fix for ram issues. Only samsung can fix it if they want.

Agree, you won't miss much by not rooting. I have disabled most of the bloat which are allowed to be disabled. I can switch between apps without any issues. I got a replacement device last week because the previous one will just turn off itself even if the battery is charged. the "new" (Actually is seems refurbished) works well so far. I have repeated the same process on disabling the unwanted apps, turning off wifi calling and VoLTE, screen on auto brightness, all the usual stuff. Battery life is not great, but can last a working day with moderate usage. If you are on the road, and use camera, maps, then battery drains quickly. If t-mobile network is poor where you are( which is a not unusal), battery will drain even quicker.
T version has to many app from stock... Almost 1.5gb of trash stuff.

I semi-bricked my phone and haven't been rooted since bringing it back to life. The only thing I truly miss is AdAway. It's been years since I had to browse the web without an ad blocker and I feel like they've turned up the onslaught ten fold.

I wouldn't root either, but I hate ads, ad-away is a must for me. Adguard and all those work when browsing but not in apps. Until then I will stick to 5.0.2 with root. If anyone knows of a alternative for ad blocking like ad-away does, please let me know.

It's too damn big lol plus I prefer Samsung software. The S4 was perfect because of Google's GPE program. But since that's dead the best I can hope for is that sooner or later CM will come to the S6.
