I was just having the same problem! I was just trying to fix the problem with the TouchWiz deal that kept saying "TouchWiz is not responding. Do you want to close it?" because it kept freezing my phone. So I found something online that gave suggestions on how to fix it and the screens that were supposed to pop up did not and I ended up getting into that. It sat that way for at least a half hour before I decided to search online for a way to make it turn back on. It doesn't give you an amount of time that it is supposed to take to finish so I was afraid I was going to ruin it by stopping. I did try that person's suggestion on how to reset it. I think the way they described it was confusing so it took me trying a couple different ways to figure out what they meant. Try holding down the volume up, volume down, and power button *all at the same time* for 10 seconds. That finally worked for me. Now I'm just wondering what I may have messed up by stopping the proccess. ??

No worries. I don't think you messed up anything.
I finally managed to shut it off using volume button, home button, power button. Turned it back on and everything worked the way it should.

thanks a ton

Well, can't tell you how much it helped Thank You Thanks a lot

why did that cyan screen with the Download stuff come on in the first place?

It turns off with volume down, power etc, but when it turns back on it goes straight back into the cyan screen. Am stuck now and cant sort it. I need the phone today as I have no landline and have calls! Ta

no completely black with no touch response
what rom were u on. If u r able to connect to kies the. u should be able to see the phones drives in my computer as well. u can delete some data from there.
I guess u can do it using adb
If you need to do factory-reset,follow the following steps:
Download this
Open ODIN
put factory_reset.tar.md5 in PDA section and donot check/uncheck anything else...
Put your phone in download mode and connect it to PC.
hit start and it will flash and reboot.
And the device will be factory resetted
ODIN is attached in this post if you need it
This is a very good news, just 2 questions:
1. to put my phone in download mode i have to switch on the phone keeping pressed "volume down" "home" and "power" after just press volume down to enter in download mode, is that right ?
2. if i do the step 5 and the phone is not in download mode what happen?
the screen is completely black and i'll be blind when follow this steps
maybe i have done something wrong but i don't know what...

Step 1 is wrong
Volume down + home +power
That will lead to warning Page
Here you have to press volume up (you wrote down) to enter download mode,
And looking to log device added two times, this corelate your mistake , because you are pressing volume down in warning Page that will reboot your device normally instead of download mode and after booting it gets added again
One thing I want to add, the file you are flashing will raise flash counter, so if you are covered under warranty, this may voids warranty.
Alternatively you can flash stock rom file for CSC tab, that will erase everything.

I think it wont raise the counter because its just an empty data partition and some stock rom contains this.As far as I know only flashing modified kernel will raise the counter. But today evening i will test to confirm it

I don't think counter matters at this moment.. He wants to sell the phone so he wants to delete data.

Custom binary Counter is something put up by samsung on our phones that shows them how may time we have flashed insecure (modified kernel) on our phone. It is shown in download mode. But it can be easy resetted on a rooted phone using TriangleAway app by chainfire.
And you can press thanks for all my posts if you really need to thank me .But remember you can only give 8 thanks per day
can i push "thanks" 2 times per post?
thank you very much

Anyway now my phone won't start, it will turn on and but it gets stuck on the Samsung Logo, I booted it into recovery mode, wiped cache, user data and rebooted but it was still stuck on the Samsung logo. How do I fix my phone from here??
Have you installed the drivers on your pc?
64 bit - http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
32 bit - http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
Install the driver and then try again
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
check if kies is running.. close it from task manager... run odin as admin.. aslo before flashing again.. you need to power off and reboot into download mode
Thank you!!
Thanks, that's what I hadn't done, install the drivers. All working good now and have to say its great to finally have jellybean on it!

Nah , I'm going to send it to Samsung to see if they can fix it. I think something is wrong with the bootloader.

I tried smart switch but I always get an error when its starts flashing my phone. It doesnt seem to work with me and I might try another pc. Hopefully there is a solution found for this.

It doesnt say any specific error, its weird. And everytime it started flashing at around 10 percent it would stop.

Need help PLEASE! Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950N Exynos 8895 STUCK IN DOWNLOAD MODE

So I am a poor guy that has a dream of using a Note 8 for this is my dream phone. Somebody post a listing in Facebook that his note 8 is somewhat useless for he don't know what is the problem and he is selling it as a bargain so I grab it.
Now I am stuck with this phone that won't turn on (unless you go and place it on a wireless charger then it will turn on by itself), won't do anything and is stuck with download mode(see photo 1).
I try to flash a SM-N950N firmware using Odin v3.13.1 but I am getting an error:

Flash the root file via odin. That is the easiest way to repartion. This worked for me.

Hi am wondering if you could help with my Galaxy Note 8
I am able to install the firmware using ODIN without any errors on download mode but after ODIN is finished the phone turns off and does not boot.
I have taken the phone to a repair shop as well and they have confirmed that there is no hardware issues,
