Who's confident we will see 1 or 2 more OTA'S - T-Mobile HTC One (M9)

Who's confident that HTC will go the xtra mile and get the bugs fixed especially with camera .Who thinks we haven't seen the last of the OTA Fixes and would the next come sooner or likely much later .
I wonder if it will be based on enough Consumer Complaints ?
Just traded my s6 in for m9 Took the Ota and camera is bad as everyone says still .I believe battery life can be fixed with my tip as it worked for the s6.

[Q] Is HTC good about android updates?

The only thing stopping me from getting this phone is I feel like it will get outdated pretty fast due to not being updated by HTC fast enough. It is already shipping with 4.1.2 even though 4.2.2 is already out.
I've never owned a HTC phone before so I'm wondering how long it will be until the 4.2 update. Also Key Lime Pie is coming out hopefully this summer, so then it will be even longer before they update to 5.0.

To put it bluntly, No. HTC are aweful at releasing updates. If the the 5.0 update for the One is anything like Jellybean for the One X it will be a joke.

What are you talking about? JB release on the One X is fantastic, they actually implemented everything correctly which made it blazing fast... I'd like to hear an explanation

Also depends on if you get a branded device, you have to wait for the carrier to test, fill it with bloatware etc before they release to their customers.
Unbranded devices usually get the updates etc pretty quick, and if you're rooted, you will likely get an update from devs before HTC even release it in general.
no they are not good my sensation xe dying on İCS very slow galaxy s2 had jelly bean for 2 mounths i guess sensation may never see jelly bean.
The updates for these types bring jack anyway. Pure android deffo worth the wait. HTC all your waiting us new sense variant. Nothing else you'll really notice. If you want to notice get the n5 when it's released

Once the update was finally rolled out JB was fantastic on the One X but it took HTC months and months to eventually get it rolled out to every One X because they did it based on CID.
I don't know man. I didn't see much difference

They probably didn't put 4.2.2 on there because it didn't add much to android. In fact some people will tell you it made it slower and worse. All it did was put some widgets on the lock screen, new widgets and bragging rights to people that have it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
4.2.2 is an update only made for aosp roms. Tell me what changes on 4.2.2 that will be implemented other than the version number? Gesture typing? Lockscreen widgets? Photo sphere? Already existed since sense 4. Im not sure about photosphere but i heard its 360 panorama which is also doable

HTC is pretty good with updates, it is always one of the first or even the first with updates to new android versions. People who say they are slow need to look at other OEM's and see how long it takes them...
And even if you can install a newer android version aosp rom, you will find that the older sense rom usually feels more like the upgrade compared to the newer aosp rom.
HTC take longer than samsung with updates because they do have a far smaller team. Samsung is a massive company so it can probably test & develop many updates for loads of devices. HTC took a bit longer in releasing the JB update but it was far less buggy than the SGS3 update.
I think we will see fast updates with the HTC one as this handset is definitely make or break for HTC
I have a branded 3 handset who have become very fast at pushing out updates
On my note 2 3 UK pushed out quicker than my unbranded handset they released 4th Jan but it was around early march when my unbranded finally got the update

It wont be the same with HTC. The One X update was delayed for a month or so whilst 3 branded it.
After installing 4.2 on my Nexus 7, I couldn't tell the difference really and I actually found those lock screen widgets annoying, but as already stated Sense 3 brought this to the table back with the Sensation (if you count the lock-screen shortcuts as widgets, otherwise Sense 4) so personally I don't think it's a big deal.
The problem HTC is going to have, is people that work in phone shops. They just want to sell a phone in my experience and I can just imagine them saying 'but the S4 is much better than the One as the One's software is already outdated' or something along those lines.
At the end of the day 4.2 will bring ABSOLUTELY NOTHING more than what 4.1 already gives. The only addition would be whatever HTC adds onto Sense. With devices such as the Sensation or Desire, HTC was awful at supporting them as the Desire was already out of support after 10 months. However, as also previously stated, with the One X HTC really ramped things up. Jellybean arrived just a few weeks after Samsung, and brought a much larger plethora of updates along with it.
Don't worry, HTC got you :good:

This is HTC, not Apple.
The only one to blame with the delay of updates are the carriers. Just like what's happening between tmobile and the One S. JB for the One S was released last december for unbranded phones, and it's almost april but tmobile hasn't released JB yet. That doesn't mean that will also happen to the One, but imo, it's the carriers' fault why HTC is always known from being slow in updating their phones, even if they aren't really.

Planning to get htc one and I need some help ?

At present I have a galaxy note 2 , the phone is great but samsung as usual is not providing updates its been ages since I am running 4.1.2.
So I am going to trade my note 2 for htc one just love the build quality and the fact that any htc one can be turned into google edition.
I am concerned about the camera of htc one .most reviews say its not that good.
Honestly speaking my note 2 takes great pics.
So I would like to know from owners of htc one that is it worth trading note 2 for htc one.

I have the purple/red haze issue myself. I get around this by setting the iso in the camera app to either 100 or 200 and using the flash. This solves it quite nicely is the shots are fairly close. This doesn't work so well with long distance shots but still acceptable in my opinion.
I'd definitely go for the HTC one as the HDR pictures are great in the right light (you can't adjust the iso settings in HDR mode).
Appart from that I love this phone and I haven't regretted getting it for a second!

Trading S5 for HTC M8..thoughts?

Hey everybody.. Curious if anyone has used both the M8 and the S5..guy wants to trade his M8 for my S5, but just curious about anyone else's experience.
My main concerns:
Camera (is the One really that much inferior) I take a lot of pics
Speed/Fluidity (fastest and smoothest Galaxy for me yet, but TW still hits a few lag snags time to time)
Rootability (this bootloader will be locked for how long?)
Overall I love the S5 a lot, just thinking the M8 may give a better user experience? I'll miss the waterproof stuff but I baby my phones anyway, so...
Thanks for your input!

For you, it comes down to Camera vs. Root, and you say you take a lot of pictures.
If living without root is not killing you, I say keep the S5.
You just said you love the phone a lot. Besides think, why is the other guy willing to give up his M8 for your S5?

I did the switch, could not live without root. Currently having the M8 on my 13 day of use. To be honest the M8 camera is not as bad as you'd think. Focus is super fast ans shutter speed is on par with the S5 (if not faster). In low light conditions the M8 is much better than the S5, sound quality while recording video is also a lot better than the S5, I can record inside a club and not having any distortion on the sound. Now the M8 have some issues with the camera lens been made of poor materials/coating and get scratch easily if you not take care of it and it will impact the picture quality. Sense is much smoother than TW, there is no Lag in Sense at all. One thing you might not like (I still don't) is the onscreen buttons.
So in short to answer your questions
1 - No, the camera is just fine, just don't try to zoom to much, but quality wise is on par with the S5 (aside of some over exposure issues than are fixed by flashing a modified camera apk already in the M8 forum)
2- Sense is way faster than TW hands down, (and no lag)
3- The bootloader will be lock forever, only hope is to find a vulnerability to achieve root and then you will only be able to flash TW Roms (just like the Note 3)
4- if you can get use to the onscreen buttons, is a much better experience.
Awesome points. Thanks so much. I may take the plunge! I notice quite a bit of lag in my S5 (again best it ever been, but lag still) and toying with the M8 at Best Buy I noticed none at all. I couldn't slow it down even while intentionally taxing it. Thanks again

I had an M7, worst phone I ever had. Loved it at first, but had nothing but problems. And the camera was crap. Looked good on the phone, but any amount of zoom/cropping on a computer really shows is limitations. That is, if the pictures didn't come out pink, like all 7 devices that I ended up using.
HTC is out of their mind for staying with 4mp, and i will never buy another HTC product again after the m7 fiasco. I will probably end up buying the next nexus device anywsy(if there is a good gear 2 alternative, one of the main reasons I bought the S5).

But i am happy with lg. They have grown. Truly never had m7 and s5 i more or less had replaced screen for client but had it a week. I like the display. But the prime will be out soon. So this is my point. This way 6 months gives me time to buy g3 and prime s5 or whatever its called. Maybe even iphone six. Just to have and tear apart.

Get a Note 4 or....

Hey guys just a quick question. Idk if any of you have other devices such as HTC, but i was wondering, im about to upgrade and im not sure if to get a Note 4 or wait for the HTC One M9.
Any help. I haven't used a sense phone since the HTC Evo 3D.
What phone are you upgrading from? I've had several phones including the late iPhone 6 plus and once you get Note and its features, you can never go back. Multi window even with third party apps, ir for remote control, S-pen for notes(there's no substitute), camera is one of the best for a phone. I just use Nova in place of TouchWiz and I'm good.

Not sure about the Flex 2, but the only advantage of the M9 is that it's supposedly 64bit, however the Note 4 is far superior in all other aspects (SPen, Gear VR, for example). But then again, they are two different kinds of niches.

Avoid the Qualcomm 810 it has heat issues that cause it to under perform. Most tests have show the 805 (which is what is in the Note 4) out performs it.

I agree and that might be a reason (or one of the reasons) why Samsung is dumping the Snapdragon altogether on the S6 (and future devices?).
Cheers!
I came over from the HTC ONE_M8. I've had my N4 for maybe 2 months now and am starting to warm up to it. When I first got it I didn't like it too much. Compared to the M8 I found the N4 to be laggy, sometimes even complete freeze ups. After turning off a few things along with some changes with the settings it's much better than it was. Since I use the S-pen for work, I do like that cause it works well with what I do. The battery is pretty good, it gets me from wake up to bed easily, pretty much using the phone without worry about it running out. In fact I'm just over 5 hrs screen time with 11% left. One thing that I do like is how the screen is, especially in sunlight. Overall it's a good phone

If I hadn't gotten the Note 4 awhile back and was just now getting ready to upgrade I would most likely get the M9. Had the M8 and loved it.
Get the note 4.
There won't be another good rootable cell phone til the s6 or note 5.
I say if you find a good deal on the Note 4 get it. If you're paying full retail then I rather have the latest and greatest. M9, or GS6
I'd get the note 4.
M9 seems like it won't have a lot of devs based on m8.
S6 seems so far away.
S5 wasn't any good anyway.
Last cool rootable cell phone was s4.

Thats what happens HTC releases a new phone. I had the same issues when they released HTC M9. This may sound silly, but its true from my 5 year experience with HTC. When they release a new phone, they have a strategy to make the old phones sluggish, so that we all think for a new upgrade. Over the time its killing HTC and people going to upgrade with different brands. It could be service pack, sense launcher or any app (which I couldn't trace). I think it was the last sense home update which made my phone unresponsive sometimes (update was received around a week back). Anyways, if the new HTC phone doesn't make sense, I will never use sense on my smartphone! and from a week, I am hating my phone for its lazy performance and HTC for releasing such update!
- By once a HTC fanboy
Yep that's why I need to either get back into rooting and rom it up, or just jump ship. Been HTC since the touch but I can't stand having a phone only last for a short time. And this phone is the cleanest that I've ever had. Been in a case and glass since day one. But call volume is ****, charging port never holds, and sluggish/freezing is killing me especially for how much I need it to just work for my job. I been wanting to go Nexus, but I constantly see mixed reviews. Plus I live the IR blaster on these phones. Perfect for what I need. So I dunno
