No, it's not possible. You'd have to replace the head unit.

This is highly unlikely you will have to replace the head unit. Pioneer or Alpine will have something that may integrate and fit like O.E.M plenty of double din units for sale just double check your phone is compatible first.

I would like the same information if anybody knows something...
not sure what you mean by "snap in cradle"...but for vehicle mounts, you cannot get anything better than this.
www.proclipusa.com
Snap-in
There is an adaptor in the centre console where it allows you to clip your phone in so it can charge/use the car's in built antenna....
seems exceedingly hard to find!
The only way to do it to contact your bmw dealer
I asked my dealer to keep me informed and haven't heard from him yet.. so probably not available...

Android stereo update, need help, don't know what firmware I need

Hi everyone, I got a stereo from eBay last year and it's currently on 4.4.2 and it just looks out of date, wanted to update it to the stereo that was in the description on eBay, I believe that one is just more up to date, I have the info I got from my head unit, any help would be much appreciated.
Any direction where to get the right firmware would be greatly appreciated

Strange, the screenshot you shared didn't confirm the manufacturer in the MCU version (e.g. MTCB-KGL-V2.55). The letters at the beginning will help identify the manufacturers and hardware used. Can you supply any more details on the Headunit and I'll try my best to help.

New joying intel sofia 2gb ram

Hi everybody.
I buy the new joying intel sofia 2gb ram, and i would like to know if there is french owner of this product ?
I explain, i just want to know if joying improve the radio app of this new model, for example the post search automaticaly a better frequence for the same radio (that's what i want) or just when the post loose the signal of the station he switch to an other frequence even if it's not the same (not good)?
In the malaysk rom for RK3188 i've read that the new app radio modified do what i want (search a better station for the same radio ), in case the new joying do what i don't want, do you think the same radio app will be available for the new joying ?
Thanks everyone and sorry for english...

Hi, I'm afraid that despite having taken French in school, that I've pretty much lost all of it. Nevertheless, I will try my best to answer your question;
The primary user observable change to the new Intel/2GB units that Joying is producing comparing to MTCD RK3188 units, is related to system performance. The new Intel/2GB are considerably faster.
If I understand correctly, you are referring to some features of DAB[+] where it is able to switch between channels of the same broadcaster. Unfortunately, here in Canada, we don't get digital radio. We get the same old AM/FM analog radio.
While I have not yet received my Joying orders (being shipped currently), I do not believe that you will observe significant changes to the radio application. HOWEVER, it is certainly possible to apply the same kind of adjustments to the new unit's radio application as you refer to in the older units. In fact, it could actually be that the modified version of the radio application that you like could actually work directly on the new Intel units, however, this would depend on how the interface between the radio application and the actual radio is implemented, and whether or not the radio application includes any native code.
The thing to keep in mind, is that these Intel units are *very new*. Only a handful of people have them yet. Also unlike older MTCD/ARM devices, there are now multiple implementation. Many of the radio manufacturers are still using MTCD MCU boards with the Intel SoM's, but at least one (Joying) is using a very radical departure from that design. What isn't clear yet, is if the SoC <---> MCU interface is the same on the Joying, or if it is entirely unique.
Ok thanks.
No i don't talk about DAB ( no yet dab in france)....
I'm talking about AM/FM radio, i try explain with example :
In city "X" the frequence for "XdA radio" is 100.00.
In city "Y" the frequence for "XdA radio" is 90.00.
If i'm in "X" and i drive to "Y", does the autoradio switch automaticaly to frequence 90.00 to keep listen "XdA radio" or not ?
Thanks.

Wow ok. I've never actually heard of that feature. So sorry, I can't actually answer the question.
Ok.
It's RDS and TA (alternative frequence), this features allow you to travel througth the country listening the same radio because the post search a better frequence for the same radio.
joying say is capable but on the RK3188, the post don't do this, it only change the frequence for a new one better even if it's not the same radio.
If i read good, malaysk modified the radio app in order to have what i want.
I hope joying do the same thing for the new model....

Can you help me understand how you drew the conclusion that the Joying is a 'radical' departure from MTCD (it still uses an MCU - right?) and - drawing my own conclusion, rightly or wrongly - how the MCU could be significantly better in the Joying unit. Also were you aware joying are not a manufacturer?
Cheers.
No one with in new model joying in France ?
Thanks

Its hard to say if joying manufactures or not. There are a dozen DIFFERENTLY OWNED factories that crank out almost the exact same devices.
It doesn't take much to know that the Joying is different than all the rest. A quick VISUAL check of the inside of the thing shows it.
Check out this post for pictures of the inside of the Joying: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69469794&postcount=3
And first post of this thread for pictures of the inside of MTCD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...opment/2gb-ram-intel-cpu-heres-specs-t3468322

Those of us who have been following MTC units for 3 years have been fully aware of the situation for a long time - there are indeed approx 12 manufacturers of MTC units, the software for them all is made by one company - MTC, the type of software is designated by the letter after "MTC" ie "B", "C" and "D", the 2 or 3 letter code in the MCU type is the manufacturer identifier and each of the 12 manufacturers can be identified by these letters, so no, its not "hard to say" who manufacturers it - quite the opposite we know EXACTLY who manufacturers it by the code in the MCU type
Joying does not manufacturer anything they are sellers, this has been known for years, any MCU with a "JY" in it is manufactured by Shenzhen Joyous. The phrase "The Joying" is meaningless as Joying does not just sell JY units it also sells some others.
All the Sofia units I ve seen so far ARE MTCD units because they have an MTCD MCU, as the attached picture clearly shows, hence threads about these units are in the MTCD section.
If, as you say the Sofia units sold by Joying are not MTCD, then we can identify them by the settings/about device screen to see if they are MTC or entirely unrelated.

The SoFia Joying units are CLEARLY NOT MTCD, as internal pictures and firmware structure of these units CLEARLY INDICATES.
Take a careful read over this thread and note post (1) includes firmware structure for the FYT5009 based Joying units, and post (3) has internal pictures:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...t/intel-cpu-mtcd-mtc-units-intel-cpu-t3494083
Also, Joying is the public facing retail branch OF Joyous. You can argue about the organizational structure all you want, but at the end of the day, its the same outfit.

I have browsed the thread already, the about screen is still the quickest way for the OP to identify his unit, if he has an MCU like this "2016-08-29 15:46:12 JY_(NOR)__90_C9_7706_5009_CAN(GX)_Newlap" then indeed you are correct, the JY Sofia units are not MTCD and this thread needs to be moved to the "Android Auto General" section
I suspected that Joying maybe the retail arm of Joyous for while, but then I saw they also sold non Joyous units, so I decided that they were probably not Joyous, care to show me proof they are ?

I bought a JY unit from someone who was not Joying a couple of years ago, so yes.
I cant remember what other types I ve seen them sell off hand - I try and keep up with developments with Android head units and as I said I d always assumed that Joying was the retail arm of joyous and I think I have said it on here before, maybe thats where you got it from ? And no I cant remember what non JY they were selling, just that I mentally noted that I was probably incorrect in assuming they were the retail arm of Joying. When I have some time I ll try and see where I saw non JY units they were selling.
So you have no actual evidence, you just made the same assumptions as me ?

Well one piece of supporting evidence is the fact that none of the Joyous retail channels have been updated in *YEARS*.
I wonder if you just bought that unit from a reseller who bought a container of JY units for a discount and marked them up a few $$?
I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter anyway. As long as we kind of have an idea what is actually in the box.

Well, it would be nice to know.
It could be that they decided to stop supplying others and sell them all through the "Joying" brand only, or maybe not.
Even if they do sell some units made by other companies as I thought I had seen doesnt prove its not them either, they could sell their stuff and other peoples too, I guess it should be filed in the "unsure" category at least for now
Hello.
I've received my new joying, but i'm disappointed.....
The radio app of older model show station name îbigger in the middle and in presets and the song title in middle but the app of the new one just show the frequency...i'm sad...
Someone buy the new joying and have the same issue as me ?

Thanks everyone....

That seems like a very trivial complaint.
Yes...i know.
But radio is important to me and joying don't say me that the look of new radio app will change....
That's why i would like change the app for one look like the older joying or MTCFLATRADIO....
If someone can help me, it will be nice.
Thanks

Hi , the radio app is like you say, only frequency in big numbers...
you can save the radio name and edit , but it won't appear in screen center.

Once root is obtained it would be quite easy to mod the xml of the radio apk to change the look.
If you install the app "APKextractor" you can remove it without root ready for modifying maybe give it to someone else, maybe one of the people who do modified MTCB/C/D apps ?

where can i get a replacement motherboard?

Depends on factory, what was MCU.
I can probably repair or buy your old units to develop on
I dont know what mcu it was.. maybe mtce-mx

Quite possibly repairable. Try a local repairer?

I am just retired I am aiming to get to know my Xtrons PQ90MTVL a lot better.
Hi everyone, I've got an issue with my Xtrons PQ90MTVL. I use my Samsung S20 as a hot spot for the Xtrons. I find that every three days or so I have to do a reset via the pin hole on the front of the unit to re-enable wireless on the unit. The Wi-Fi is the only thing that goes on the unit, Bluetooth works fine, when I got in touch with Xtrons they said it was a common fault and would cost me £40.00 to have it repaired. Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a wireless USB dongle to provide the unit with a alterative way of connecting to the hot spot on my phone as they are quite cheap, and would save me a lot of money?
