[APP] Funny Jokes [R] 2011/7/24 [U] 2011/7/31

Last version failed certification because it has an "Adult Jokes" section.
This is a later version with more jokes categories and profile viewing feature.
Name: FunnyJokes
Info:
The FunnyJokes app on windows will lighten your mood even on a rainy day. Read the funniest jokes with FunnyJokes on windows phone and share them with your friend. The app allows you to read, publish, comment, like/dislike jokes. The dev is devoted to providing a pleasant user experience. Will listen to and respond users' requests by providing frequent update. Will make FunnyJokes the most feature rich jokes app on windows phone.
Developer Note:
For the past three weeks, I have been working on my first app on the windows phone platform. Its called FunnyJokes. Its a small app that allows people to read, publish and comment on the funniest jokes.
The process of development was a lot of fun. I started the development with 8 months of experience using a HD7, some familiarity with C#, no knowledge on Silverlight and Azure. Through my past experience, I found out that the best way to learn about a platform is to learn through developing. I first quickly read through the basic tutorials provided on the App Hub, then created a template app using visual studio. Whenever I needed to implement a feature that I wasn't sure how to do it, I would search on the internet to get the solution. In the following posts, I would also share some of the technical challenges and how I solved it. So stay tuned.
The app was submitted to the Marketplace yesterday, pending on certification. I am sharing the XAP file here. So if you have a developer unlocked phone, give it a try. I would love to hear some feedback. I plan to provide frequent updates to bring more features to the app. Some of the upcoming features are: Multi-language support, user profile view. Hopeful, it would be the best joke reading and sharing experience on windows phone.
Hi, guys, any comments on the app? I will really appreciate any comments.
Some text cut-off in the joke content page. Other than that, pretty good!
Thanks. I will fix this problem in the next release.

Android Tablet Apps

First off, I'd like to say hi and I hope all of you are doing well. I come to you in request for some support as well as an offering that some of you should be able to benefit from.
I've been working hard as possible to produce a website for Android tablet users, which is 100% free of charge. No catches, no gimmicks, no nothing. Before anyone flips out thinking I am advertising, consider this: I could have dropped a link and left. But I didn't I'm here, explaining my cause, and letting you know that there is a wonderful resource that you did not know about, and should enjoy!
Anyways, the website is www.androidtabapps.com (and I won't even link it here! unless a mod says I can) and its sole purpose is to become the internet's largest database of applications that are specifically designed to work on Android tablets. This website will benefit each and every one of you who own an Android tablet because you won't have to sort through hundreds of non-tablet-optimized applications to find something good.
My request from any of you (and its ONLY a request), is that if any of you have, or know of, an application that is designed FOR an Android tablet, to please use the submission form located on my site so that I may add it? I am doing all of this work by hand and while I admit that it's painstakingly time consuming, I am enjoying myself while adding the applications because I am finding some really cool stuff so far.
I look forward to seeing some of you on the site. Pay it a visit, let me know what you think so far. Thanks!
Mine, just in case I need it for something in the future.
As a promotional offering for any application developer:
If you are a developer who has created an application that is written to run specifically on Android tablets, or is WELL optimized for Android tablets, please contact me using the form on my site to receive a 7-day free featured advertisement on my site. Mention XDA somewhere, please. The featured advertisement of your application will be found in the big slider at the top of the home page among other pages. This is limited to the first three developers who contact me, so act fast! Android Tablet Apps is already getting good traffic and I'd love to help some of you developers out a bit!
I'm offering free ad placements for 7 days for the next 3 developers to contact me with information regarding their Android tablet app that's on the market!
Thanks, this will be very useful for me!
I'll let you know if I have any Tablet Apps.

[App] le verge - The Verge news reader

Hey folks,
I recently launched a news reader for The Verge. There isn't much branding but I spent some effort on making it look like a native app and optimization. Give it a try and give me some feedbacks! This is my first app so I would really like to know how I can improve it in the update.

MARKET LINK:

Or just search "le verge" on the marketplace.
Let me know what you guys think!
A very nice app for starting specially because its fast and follows the metro design. There are two suggestion from my side :
1. Option to make text bigger or smaller.
2. Caching of posts for offline reading.
I have done video review to share with my readers you can check here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQwgxA-MsB8
Wow, very nice! It's fast and looks great.
Just a few minor thoughts:
1) Agree with wpxbox about adding a font size setting
2) I'd buy it! Would love to see a paid version without ads offered
Nice app, thanks for posting it in the market!
"You sir is a genius!" (read with a quest-like voice from a knight lol)
Thanks very much for this app! Now I can get rid of the mobile web version of their awesome site. Joshua should tweet this and post on their Featured page so it gets the attention it deserves

I have also beta tested the last two versions. Each time was on a old phone and was impressed how smooth it had run. I now have a new phone and would love to test out the new beta. Excited for the new features
Wouldn't mind being a beta tester...
Super feedback.

I want to be a beta tester because TouchPal seems to be the company that most cares about its customers. Nuance and Swiftkey provide an awful customer service and rarely care about our feedback. Besides, I was a tester for the current version of your keyboard.
I think that the best feature to add would be an easy edition of the user dictionary. Deleting and adding words in batch, for instance. Every user could make lists in txt files with technical words of the field he works in and share it with the others.
The first of all the keyboards that implement this will really make the most high demanding users to stick to it.
Really looking forward to seeing the evolution of this software.

Some new features I would like to use:
"Complete keyboard customization" --> Possibility to make our own keyboard pattern and share it
"Typography rules modification" --> There is already some auto behavior about typography marks, like "!" following the previous word without space (english rule) but for exemple in french we need a space (non break space to be precise) between words and marks.
It has to be Touchpal Wave
I'd love to be part of the beta again. Have used touchpal since the old Windows days. I reckon a mini keyboard that can be moved to either the left or right of the screen so you can curve easily on tablets. And touchpal wave.
thanks, but no thanks
touchpal screwed up by botching their wave 'upgrade' by doing nothing regarding languages once supported other than the empty 'coming soon' assurances (how long has i been and still nothing?). still useful if you use the old version, but pretty pathetic to have that as the standing solution.
sorry, but based on recent performance i'd rather not take the chance.
I'd like to have everything I've ever wanted in a keyboard - an inbuilt mind reader would be a definite plus.
Galaxy Note N7000: JonRom UBLSF V1 + HelloWorld + XXLSO on Telstra
I also want to test it. Hope it will support dictionary editing, because there are a lot of unexisting words that are sugested first.
To add to my previous post, I have beta tested both Swype (since the beginning), SwiftKey X, and SwiftKey Flow. Would love to beta test for you guys as well.

Posted on Facebook and Twitter on the possibility to add a tap timeout feature like in Multiling, Smartkeyboard and Ultrakeyboard. I would drastically speed up typing words that are not in the default dictionary and you are using the half qwerty or the 12 key layout. Anyway, I doubt that it will be included but there is the ever trusty MessagEase.

I want the keyboard from Ender's Game!

on the tablets on enders game, they have these awesome little one handed keyboards that you pull and stretch and flick and tap. Has anyone figured out how this would work or if it could work? If you haven't yet go see that movie and behold the keyboard awesomeness
MY GOD I KNOW RIGHT?!? xD i did a google search to see if there was anything similar and i post this posting on good all xda. noooow im gunna go learn java to hope to one day make it xD would be cool for a single hand messaging app to exsist. could be like a im or sms app? idk BUY ITD BE SIk
I hear ya, i have found one project but its very weird on the android since the page keeps trying to scroll instead of type
does anyone have a clip of how the keyboard works? i cant find anything yet, i know it will probably hit when the movie actually comes out though.
I created a prototype in JavaScript
Hi guys, I signed up so I can say this =)
I made a prototype over the weekend after seeing the film. I'm not allowed to post links (< 10 posts), but you can go to GitHub and look for enders-keyboard: my username is henrahmagix. To see a demo, go to henrahmagix dot imgur dot com.
@dakunesu The project you found: was it mine? If so, I'm so sorry I didn't stop the page from scrolling around on Android. Hopefully I've fixed that now: I just pushed several updates. Please let me know if it's still a problem and I'll try to fix it =)
After making that, I realised the design is limiting and requires great precision. I've added some issues to improve that, but I don't think it can go very far. It has the cool factor, but I think it's more limiting than useful.
Thanks,
Henry =)

It's too bad you stopped work on it. I thought it looked pretty cool but more importantly it would have some real functionality for the larger tablets ie all the new windows 8.1 12" tablets that they have coming out soon. With the broadwell chips, they're pretty skinny, easy to hold with one hand which makes this application pretty perfect for typing. Granted it has some rough edges that might be hard to smooth out, especially with punctuation but some of that can be handled by smart prediction tech implemented by other keyboard groups. Well with the larger tablets coming out, a decent typing solutions is something alot of people are going to be looking for.
Keyboards have long been overdue for a change, the whole qwerty thing was set up to keep typewriter keys from jamming, and with tablets you see alot more swiping actions and such making it easier for people to step way from the traditional qwerty keyboards.
Either way, I think the test page you have is a step in the right direction and it looks good and works well enough. I'd love to see something like that as a keyboard for android.
Enders keyboard is not meant for us mortals
imaging ender's game 1337 speak
AFKPU keyboard
I found this video on youtube "AFKPU keyboard", does anyone know of a project that implements such a concept?
Those touch screen interfaces in movies always seemed very unintuitive to me.
