Best accent color to match metallic edge? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking at upgrading my 2013 X to the 2014 model because of today's great deal, but am unsure what color accent I should get. I want it it to match the metallic border on the phone. A lot of pictures I've seen show the border as a metallic silver, so you would think the silver accent would be a good match. However, on the Moto Maker site the border looks a bit darker, and in their mockup the dark grey (black) accent looked best.
For those of you who have either of these accents colors in real life, which do you think matches the border better?

There are two shades of the metallic borders, if you take a closer look; a light silver and a standard grey one. You can match them by your choice pretty much! Take a look at these: http://www.reddit.com/r/MotoX/comments/2mmjh1/the_motomaker_mega_thread_a_real_world_compendium/.

Ah, I was not aware that there were 2 colors, and that they were affected by the color of the front faceplate. Pity, as I wanted a black face but liked the lighter metallic border. Oh well, black face w/ dark grey border and trim it is, then. Thanks!

What's with the HD7 Cosmetic Variations?

I've noticed that HTC HD7 have slight cosmetic variation depending which region or carrier you get the device from!
Here in the UK if you get it from O2 you don't get the yellow accent behind the kickstand like it is shown on the HTC website instead it's silver which is same like the US T-Mobile version and also the T-Mobile version has a slight sliver finish on the front cosmetic speaker grills?
I've also noticed in some Italian blogs their HD7 has a blue accent behind the kickstand!
With all this variation it would have been nice if HTC made them available in all regions especially the colour behind the kickstand IMHO the yellow accent does look cool!
I like the Yellow one as well. Until it was released in the US, seeing the pictures in the previews, I hoped that we would have a Yellow one as well. But we got the Silver. Well, its not a big deal, but could have been cool if we had options.

I'm going to say the same. I thought the neon green/yellow gave it a unique hue compared to the usual black/chrome, black/red or white devices out there.
I have a yellow one.
I ordered it at a Belgian online service, but it seems like they imported it from Italy as the manual and so is in italian
If you look closely at the insert it looks as though it can be removed, possibly switched with another color or possibly painted whatever color you want. When I get a chance I will have to try and remove it if possible and see how easy it is.
Well after taking the rear cover off I realized that it is part of the whole rear plastics under the cover. And to remove the cover you have to remove a screw that has a warranty sticker on it. I guess if you REALLY wanted to you could remove the kickstand itself and mask off the area (flash LEDs and camera) and paint the area the desired color. But its not a seperate piece its part of the rear cover
Maybe one day I'll feel adventerous and mask it off and paint it with some chameleon paint I have left from another project.
I have the yellow one too....Bought it last week in india..
Yellow? i have orange
the asian version has a black back covering compared to the us and uk version. and yes it has a yellow tint behind the kick stand. the us version has also a different box than the uk version. the us version of the box can be opened by lifting the top while the uk version one needs to slide the box to its side.
im sure there are no significant differences in terms of whats in the device.these are just cosmetic variations.
i like the uk and the us versions...
i've got the yellow too and i like it more compared to the grey t mobile version...
lookin at some pics i think the italian hd7 is darker, the bezel is dark crome. It looks like tmobile is more like silver crome...also the (fake) speakers grid are black in my hd7..would be cool if they matched the yellow...maybe a too "young" look but i would have loved it

[Q] Why does the white one cost more?

I've been looking into buying a white N-7000 off ebay but everywhere I look, it's at least $40 more than the black one? I'm seeing black ones for ~$575 and white ones for ~$615.
Because it's way cooler, and because they can!!!

Because what you perceive as white, isn't really white. In the reflective light scheme, What we "think" is white, really isn't white. It's reflecting ALL colors. If an object is red, it reflects red, and absorbs all other colors. Therefore, to make a white object appear white, they have to have a special paint that will reflect the entire visible spectrum of light, not an easy task. The covers you see in other colors except black, actually started off as white, but failed the test, which is why you see so many other colors available. It isn't easy mixing a color to plastic, to get it to reflect white. Some end up as black, blue, pink, green because they didn't come out right in the manufacturing process.
I really need to lay off the Mt. Dew....you think?

Because in this day and age people can't figure out that you can buy a $10 white cover and make a device whatever color you want.
Black is powerful. In my opinion, white is cheap.

Nice explanation. Its a fair one. However there are more possibilities:
Price is dependant of supply and demand, if demand is higher they can increase price. This is classic economic thinking.
Or they want to tap into more revenue by offering exclusitivity. Create a wanna have because less people have it because its more expensive. Make it special by feauture/price lol.
Or back to supply demand theory, demand x + price y delivers revenue. If you want to keep that and increase revenue, cater to lower demand but higher price. Or cater to even higher volume at lower price. This last is not that attractive psychology wise for the same product model. I think its called catching the market surplus.
Or copy the path Iphone went, first black edition, then stimulate demand with white edition. Probably for reasons in previous paragraph

Is It?
Here in India both cost the same. Demographic Marketing I guess?
It depends. Here in Poland the black model is more expensive. White models are cheaper and generally very easy to buy cause there's always a lot of white ones on online auctions etc.
Demographic i guess, people here seem not to like white phones. And it happens with other models too ( Galaxy S2 white model is almost 1/4 cheaper )
i agree.....white rules! ......got white

color options

Why am i only seeing blue and pink on the samsung website.
Wheres the midnight black or dark blue or bronze?
that is all they have to start, give me a purple one!
I ordered the copper metallic. Australia got 3 options: Midnight black, ocean blue, and copper metallic.
On the US they only have Blue and Purple because on the S9 sales black didn't sell well at all.

Yeah but guys arent going to buy the purple one, so they really limited the options there with only blue.
Canada got blue and black.
Im getting exynos and will have to go copper in absence of gold or silver.

I don't think I see people have a blue phone quite often. Kind of weird marketing strategy.
I had the choice of Blue, Black and Purple in the UK. Went for the Blue as black will just look like a slab. The blue isn't too light and will show up dark in the night so I'm all for it. As for the yellow S Pen - I don't mind it.

I do like the black bezels, but,I couldn't disagree more, especially with the limited & seemingly arbitrary color options varying from region to region.
All color options (that Samsung chooses to use) should be available to all regions on Day One of pre-orders going live.
Also, not everyone likes to rock a case or body skin.
Of course, anyone who has been tuned-in to all things Samsung knows they'll offer some of the currently excluded color options (or new ones) at a later date,to reinvigorate the buzz surrounding the Note 9.
I wanted the Black model & could choose to import it to the US,but, the Ocean Blue is dark enough for me to suffice.
I get why peeps aren't enthused w/the color options, especially when the price of admission is over $1k (less any trade-ins)..
Just going to get a black Dbrand skin for it I guess. I hate blue, but I'm certainly not using purple. Putting a black case on the phone you'll still see plenty of the ugly blue on the back of the phone at the cutouts. I will cover everything with a skin. Thanks Samsung for forcing me to buy a blue phone.

The Ocean Blue woulda been my 2nd choice at best,if given the option of Black.
However, after seeing the Ocean Blue & Lavendar Purple colors in person @ Best Buy & T-Mobile,the colors of both seemed to be darker/richer than what I've seen in the various post-Unpacked videos & definitely better than the STOOPID Renders (all renders belong in the lowest depth of the world's nastiest septic tank,LOL).
Regardless,at minimum,Samsung shoulda offered the most common of color choices everywhere, black & some variation of gray/silver/platinum.
Don't get me started on that #*&!%$# banana stylus..................................
Man I ordered the Ocean Blue-Balls so at this point I'm thinking of getting some non adhesive black duck tape and applying it because Samsung wanted to be an ass about the color. LOL, JK I'm going to get the skin and the put it in the case. However I might consider the duck tape until everything comes in.

SlickWraps has a 50% off sale going on now, expires in about an hour (plus, you get two skins per order, not bad):

I ordered the lavender purple because I didn't like the bright yellow S Pen. I always have my phones in a case so I hope the purple won't show too much.

I pre ordered the ocean blue in Ireland. We had choice of black or ocean blue

Which color Note 9 did you buy?

As the title says, which color did you buy and why?
the blue one because the combination of colours are the best.... really bored about black ones and my last was orchid gray who was very nice too. the yellow pen have a style look so is the perfect combination... the only thing that i dont like is the blue colour because is a little bit dark tone.
cheers
I wish they brought back Coral Blue. I loved that color on my Note7, before I had to return it lol
Copper! Beautiful
Blue because at release there wasn't black or silver. My gf has lavender
Went for the black due to the fact network didn't have any other color on the 512gb version.. If by choice would be the grey one.
Ocean Blue i went for as the Yelllow S-Pen looks Awesome..
Blue cause it came with the yellow pen and because I couldnt get copper.
Bought blue. Because it looks awesome. I usually prefer black. But in note 9, blue look pretty cool.

I got the blue one, but I wish the color would be just a tad lighter
Bought the blue one, I like the fact the s pen is yellow(easier to find that way) plus black is a bit old for me
I have the black, had the choice of that or the blue. But there's something sexy about the all black version! May invest in the yellow pen to set it off further ?
copper as it looks awesome

Black since that'll look better in most cases. I'll always keep it in a case and the majority of those come in black so I figured I'd get the color that was the closest match.
If I wouldn't have been planning to use a case I might've gotten the blue one. It looks nice but it's a bit of a fingerprint magnet though.
Blue. Because I was able to snag a brand new 512GB for $750. Luckily, I happen to like the blue anyway, but with that price I would've bought it anyway.

:good:Midnight Black for me! Needed to match my ride, so black on black everything.

The Ocean Blue color definitely seems to be the most popular but while the Note 9 looks really good in that color, I think it also has to do with availability.

I 100% agree. The only reason I would have purchased Ocean Blue is because there was no other dark choice. So I chose to wait until Midnight Black was finally available in the US. I had a blue Nexus 6 and hated it.

OnePlus 7 Pro Colours Comparison

Fellow members I thought I would make a video comparing the 3 different colours of the OnePlus 7 Pro to help anyone thinking about buying one. YOU CAN WATCH THE VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/2JPEeabpShc
Please take the time to read below as it may save you time instead of having to watch the entire video. I was lucky enough to attend the OnePlus Launch and get hands on with every colour option available of the OnePlus 7 Pro, so today I will be comparing the different colours of the OnePlus 7 Pro to help you decide which one you should buy.
First off lets tackle the most subtle and underrated option, the Mirror Gray, in my honest opinion I really really like this option because in person it looks much better than on camera. The Gray back glass has a deep lustre which shifts from almost black to a smoky gray which slightly bends the light subtly, It is a very glossy finish as expected which is the usual you find with glass backed devices. The metal frame sandwiched inbetween the screen and the back panel is also glossy and is finished in a almost dark chrome which looks very classy and sleek and the antenna bands are in a dark gray colour almost gunmetal like. The Mirror Gray is the choice for anyone looking for understated, classy and subtle in my honest opinion and comes in either the 6 or 8GB RAM variants but not the 12gb version.
The next colour option is the most popular, the Nebula Blue, this is probably the most eye catching of the colours. The back has a 2 tone colour gradient which starts off a lighter blue that graduates up to a dark almost black blue. The finish unlike the Mirror Gray is a matte texture meaning its not glossy but instead more like a satin finish which doesn’t show fingerprints like the glossy glass finishes of most other smartphones. It also gives the back an almost laser like effect the way it reflects the light and bends the blue undertone. Personally this is my favourite colour option but be aware that the finish I find to be more slippery than glossy counterparts. The frame is also a 2 tone finish, at the bottom it starts off with a light blue chrome looking finish, very shiny and reflective. But as the frame rises up towards the top of the OnePlus 7 Pro it becomes much darker, almost black and it is very subtle the way it has been achieved. This colour option only comes in the 8 or 12GB RAM versions and also the OnePlus 5g model.
On to the final colour option for the OnePlus 7 Pro, the Almond, Again like the mirror gray this one has a glossy shiny back. I would say it almost looks the same as the gold iPhone XS Max but this is lighter in colour a kind of beige tone but when you move it in certain lights it shows a subtle pearlescent almost ivory colour which is beautiful. Being a lighter tone ensures fingerprints are less likely to be visible and it is a real stunner, the metal frame is finished in a glossy gold colour which looks like a much richer tone than the glass back. It really does add the finishing touch to the overall colour of the phone by giving it a rich complimentary framing tone. Definitely a different option compared to previous OnePlus devices and worthy of your consideration. Be aware this colour is only available in one variant of 8GB RAM and 256gb of storage.
