[Q] SuperUS Pro + RKM802IV 4.4 Kitkat, + Hola App - SuperSU

Hi,
Noob here. I have an RKM 802IV (4.4. KitKat) with SuperUS installed that I have upgraded to SuperUS Pro. I also have the Hola App installed and thereby the problem.
Basically Hola does not work properly on the RKM while it works on every other device I have installed it on both Windows and Android. The RMK is the only "rooted" device and I I have read that Hola needs SuperUS Permissions but it has never "requested" them.
What I mean by does not work is that I am based in OZ and am a Netflix Subscriber, when I try to use Hola to access Netflix in the USA, it says it is in the USA but then it accesses Netflix in OZ? On every other device/system it works perfectly but not on the "rooted" RMK with SuperUS.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Update and Possible Resolution
Hi,
Just an update on my problem. I have been discussing the issue with Hola Support (Skype) and they passed it on to their R&D.
After numerous updates to Hola this week the RKM802IV is now working, for me, with SuperUS Pro and with no Permissions Problems.
Streaming Netflix is no problem but other sites e.g. CBS still need some work, as picture quality sucks.
Regardless Hola Support have done a fantastic job and have now seemed to recognized "mini pc's" as important to their development.
Thanks and Regards
laopa

Not the App, it was the Ethernet Apapter
Don't know why I putting myself out there as an idiot but just to clear matters up.
OK, quick update.
Physically the RKM802IV is connected to the "dumb" Samsung CD via a HDMI Cable. For the Internet connection there is a NetGear EX6200 Range Extender, literally next to the TV. The Internet WiFi signal to the EX6200 comes from my Router/Modem, a Fritz Box 7490, which is about 10-15 meters away from the EX6200 with a clear line of sight.
Now when I connect the RKM802IV to the EX6200 via WiFi, Hola/Netflix does not work - even the latest versions (844) however if I connect the RKM802IV to the EX6200 via an Android Compatible USB to Ethernet Adapter (has three extra USB Ports = <> $10 Aus$) then Hola/Netflix works????
No idea why Hola/Netflix does not work with a WiFi connection and then does with an Ethernet connection to the same EX6200 Range Extender - over a distance of <> 30cms.
Whatever Hola may or may not have done with updating their App it would appear the problem was fixed by the Ethernet Connection?
No idea!

Rooted Samsung SmartTV With Busybox and Bluetooth...

Hi,
Thanks to SamyGo, Samsung SmartTV's can now be rooted and the box is now wide open for hacker community to better the platform. One such functionality still missing is the ability to use wireless audio streaming via built-in Bluetooth hardware which intentionally only allow streaming to Samsung Soundshare speakers, as posted at the SamyGo forum by me Samsung uses open-source BusyBox and "BCRM Bluetooth Linux Driver" (see GPL licenses from contact screen by pressing the red key) and I am sure someone from the hacking community guide us to what we need to get this sorted out.
Since, it's the same Broadcom chipset used by many other Samsung phones and we are talking about drivers for BusyBox I hope ROM makers should be able to guide us in the right direction.
Thanks

Chrome only sees Cast when wired to Router

Hello everyone.
I've been trying to cast from my laptop but I don't see it (No Cast Devices found). I'm able to cast effortlessly from my Android device though.
Now, after poking here and there I tried connecting my laptop directly to the router and then Chrome detected my cast device.
Any idea of what it could be? This may be the wrong forum to post this but not even Google Support has figured out what's wrong.
Thanks!
I have the same problem, obviously I don't know how to fix it
Do you have a dual band router that is broadcasting 2.4 and 5 ghz signals? I've read of people having issues when the Chromecast uses 2.4 and your computer is trying to connect via the 5ghz network. Personally I have iPads and my Android phone connecting over 5ghz while my Chromecast is on 2.4 and don't have any problems. But perhaps it is a router issue. I use a WAP running DD-WRT, so it is better than most OEM routers out there.

There should not be an issue with connecting on different bands unless you segregate the 5ghz band on your router. Most routers are not setup to do that but if you have made changes, it is possible.
I checked the AP isolation thing before posting. So it wasnt that. I also flashed DD-WRT on it just to make sure. Same result.
We all on the same network/SSID.
Google cant figure out why Chrone only sees it only when wired im still waiting for them to come back with a workaround. If they do ill post it.

wild guess... if its not AP isolation maybe your wifi card has a firewall enabled and your Ethernet port doesn't?

I'm on the same boat with a "similar" problem. I have a Netgear N900 dual band router, but the issue persists while my main laptop (Win7) is connected via WiFi to either band (2.4GHz or 5.0GHz) or if I connect it directly to the router via Ethernet wire. Using the Chromecast app from the same laptop works without a hitch. I can also ping the Chromecast IP address without a problem. I have rebooted several times, uninstalled and re-installed Chrome and the Google Cast extension, but it makes no difference. I believe that the plugin is conflicting with "something" in this specific laptop. The issue is not with the LAN. All devices are on the same Network segment and respond to pings. The Google Cast extension works fine from two other laptops running Win7 with a similar setup, running the same version of the Chrome browser and Google Cast. I can also cast from my Android mobile devices (Nexus 7 & SGS3) using youtube. Suggestions anyone?
UPDATE:
The conflict was being caused by an active "virtual" network adapter. Specifically, the Leaf Network adapter that was installed with Netgear's ReadyShare Cloud. I guess this adapter works as a VPN to connect to the ReadyShare Cloud. I disabled this adapter and the Chromecast discovery worked. Apparently, the Chrome Cast extension is not smart enough to avoid virtual (VPN) adapters and link with the Primary (physical) wired/wireless adapter. At minimum, the extension should have an option to select the adapter to use. I don't user ReadyShare that frequently so having the adapter disabled does not bother me much.
The new update rolling out today is suppose to improve discovery so perhaps it will fix some of these issues.

Thanks for the heads up. Is this a firmware update for the dongle or an updated Chrome Cast extension? Regardless, is there a a place where I can read about this update or a way for me to manually download it?
Btw, I found the conflict with my setup... I have updated my previous post.
Got the Chromecast dongle "firmware" OTA update today. It went from release 12072 (shipped) to release 12840.. I don't think this is a "new" update that's supposed to be rolling out today.. If discovery was supposed to be improved with this release, it did not fix the issue with my ReadyShare Cloud virtual VPN adapters. Once I enable the Leaf Network adapter the device disappears from the Chrome Cast pull down. After reading about it a bit more, it appears that this 12840 OTA update patches the exploit used to get root. Oh well... does anyone know if there are any new features or what else is fixed with the 12840 release?

Cast without wifi or internet?

Trying to set up something in my camper so that I can watch downloaded movies or shows from my phones. I have a Note 3 with android 5.0.2 and miracast seems to be broken? When the Note 3 had 4.4 it worked fine and I used a Sony dvd player that it worked with just fine. It "sees" the player but won't cast to it.
I have a Google Pixel XL that does not see the dvd player for some reason. I brought a wifi router into the camper and tried to set up a chromecast (Gen 1). I can get it set up but then neither device, when connected to same wifi, see the device so that I can cast to it. I am going to grab a Gen 2 model from home and see if this will work.
Is there a simpler way to make this work? It was so easy just using miracast and now this has turned into a massive headache.
If you have the Stock FW on the CC, please ensure, that guest mode is enabled (via Google home). In this case the CC provided an own Wifi net if needed.

I've never been able to get the guest mode to work. It seems like no matter what the chromecast still needs an actual internet connection, even if only casting a movie/picture right from device.
So far what works for me but it's annoying. I have my actual Verizon phone turned on as hotspot, Set up the chromecast to connect to hotspot. I leave it up and running. My Note 3 has my movies on it so I connect to same hotspot and cast using Allcast app...I think. That's the only app that even seems to find the chromecast. Yes I have Google Home installed on both devices. If I turn off the hotspot Chromecast stops working. Neither device finds the chromecast after that unless I turn hotspot back on. Yes guest mode is turned on. A pin is never displayed but since devices don't see it it won't help anyway.
I had a spare wifi router and did the same test. Still need an actual data connection. If no data connection the devices do not see the Chromecast.
Technology is really frustrating at times. Miracast worked just fine until Google didn't like it and made the Chromecast. The Note 3 is old and close to being dead so I am not buying a MHL adapter for it nor will I buy a new tv that has something built in that does not seems to work either. Many other camping people are starting to run into this issue as well.
if you go in Google Home under your device, Settings, there is a possibility to switch the guest mode on. This means the CC works like a hot spot. Its written also on the screen. Every device, which is not in your network, could get an access. I don't know, at which time the guest mode will be disabled automatically. Maybe at this time, if you stream something over your own network to the CC.
Hi,
I bought a cheap "MiraCast" dongle from eBay that works great. Less than $14 with shipping included from China. They list them as a "2nd Generation Chromecast 2" screen mirroring devices, a little misleading, but I'm happy with the unit, as it was brand new, in a very nice box I might add. If you need a link, then PM me, or reply here.
PS, they picture a Chromecast shape, but the lead with a Wi-Fi antenna is a giveaway. Here is a link to get you started, and actually is titled better than the one I bought, which is sold out. There are lots more like it at varying prices. https://m.ebay.com/itm/2-Digital-HD...d=202018167243&_trksid=p2349624.c100408.m2460
Motorhome option to cast from phone or tablet or TV without Wi-Fi or hotspot connecti
I was looking at a thread that discuss different connectivity options without Wi-Fi but could not figure it out. Are there any updates to this? Right now the only results that I have is to hardwire an iPhone to the TV using the HDMI connection and Apple Adapter device. The Mira cast Dongle works most of the time but is intermittent at best.
My son upgraded to an iphone so I got his old S7. Using it and the sony dvd player I can use miracast again.
I have also set up my main phone as a wifi hotspot and connected a chromecast and my S7 to it as well and been able to cast. This method ties up both devices and then they also both need to be plugged in. My wifes Iphone can also cast to the chromecast when connected to my hotspot.
Best I can come up with for now.

Android Auto in Norway

I have big time trouble connecting my A12 Android Auto to my brand new BMW iX3. My Oneplus Nord connects flawlessly, the A12 does not. On Samsungs website I read that Norway is not among the countries allowing Android Auto (https://www.samsung.com/ie/support/...fficulty-connecting-to-or-using-android-auto/), could that the reason?
I cannot believe that.
I live in the Netherlands and we are also not in the list and we can use AA without any problem, but, your phone AND carsystem will have to connect with each other.
It sounds more that your A12 does not have the right software for it.
Go to apkmirror site and download the AA software and install on your phone.
I have downloaded the latest version from Google Play, isn't that version as good as the apkmirror-versions? My A12 connects OK with the car when it comes to hand free phone operations over Bluetooth, but when trying to establish AA, the car says "The connection failed. Check both the Bluetooth and WLAN settings on the mobile unit". Both BT and WLAN are active on the phone, and during the process an AA logo splashes on the mobile screen.
Edit: I have downloaded and installed Android Auto 6.8.613323 which I suppose is the lastest release. Same result
Ah, now i get it.
I had a Nokia 7plus and my radio-unit worked, This summer i switched to a new Nokia X20 phone, and had the same error.
After switching the car-cable with the cable that came with the new Nokia, it suddenly worked.
So try to use the cable that came with the new phone, instead of the old cable from the previous phone.
Thanx for the tip, elot01! I switched the cable to the one that came along the A12, but nothing happens when connected to the car USB except from battery charging and the option to transfer files. I am in contact with Samsung support, and so far they have been helpful. But they have not been able to solve my problem yet.
Once they have, I will post the solution here. But any tip for the forum community is highly welcome.
Samsung has given up and redirected med to Google since "this is a 3rd party SW". I haven't managed to find any Google support center to contact, but I have figured out the problem myself.
I want to have a wireless AA, and it seems like this is only supprted with handsets capable of dual band wifi, ie. 2.4 and 5GHz. The Samsung Galaxy A12 only support single band (2.4GHz).
So there goes my A12 back in its box to be placed in some drawer and forgotten. A low-priced telephone, but still a waste of money
A tip to Google/Samsung: Why not display a message saying "Android Auto is only supported on dual band wifi mobiles" when only 2.4GHz is supported?
If you want wireless, also take a look at Carsifi (still in Kickstarter) or AAWireless (former kickstarter).
Then you don't need a new phone

If you want a dongle slamming aroud in you car occupying one USB-port this solution is probably OK. But it's much easier to spend the 85$ extra on a mobile with dual-band wifi.

Android 12 update for Chromecast with Google TV

Android 12 arrives on the two-year-old Chromecast with Google TV
Adding new playback, privacy, and security settings.

Yes, i have installed yesterday.
The frame rate switch is working fine with Mavens Kodi.
But i have experienced a few bad things as well.
I wasn't able to figure out how to install unknown sources apk files anymore.
There is no option for that.
I have experienced some performance issues as well (e.g. if i jumped chapter in Kodi it wasn't capable to follow things, (delay in audio etc), but this can be just cache setting issue).
Streaming apps:
Netflix - no frame rate switch
HBO Max - no frame rate switch and some reason no Dolby Vision either (sending out as HDR).
I don't see that smooth the system as i expected to be.

Maybe you should do a hard reset or just reset the google assistant?
But i figured out how to install Unknown sources, just needed to grant Always allow storage permission for the file manager what i use (in this case x-plore) and i can see the APKs now
I just wanna share this info. If anyone using this device with a third party ethernet adapter and using vpn with wireguard app...
This firmware update will break your wireguard app usage. You would not be able to establish a connection. Activating one of peers in your wireguard app will disconnect the ethernet. Youd get a notification "VPN is connected" then youll received another notification after few seconds "Network connection lost". Your ethernet setting will disappear in the CCwGTV setting. Ethernet setting will return back once you deactivate the peer connection in WireGuard App.
Connection via Wifi with Wireguard App is not affected though with the firmware update. Its still works. You can establish wireguard connection with wireguard app.
Idk if this is a bug in the firmware update for those using ethernet adapters. I have not test the official google ethernet adapter so i can not fully say that too is affected, but im 100% sure third party ethernet adapter of CCwGTV are affected.
So if youre using ethernet adapter with CCwGTV and utilizing Wireguard app to establish VPN... you need to stay away from this update. Or else you gonna connect thru wifi to get the wireguard app working.
guys i have problem on this latest it can't my flash drive while i'm using my usb hub , any idea to revert back to android 10 ?
I experienced zero performance development. Same glitches, issues.
Some aps doesn't work. Simply can't open. Others take ages to start.
It was bad now worst.
Hdmi loses connection every minute . (I switched color format to Ycbcr 4.4.0, it seems fine now).
How to downgrade? or I will sell. Because this device is not better in terms of performance then my old 2017 LG TV software.
stupid update it doesn't read my flash drive while using my usb hub to expand it storage

the whole experience of the new update made the ccwGTV crawl. I notice lagginess after the update. Its kinda like what Apple do to their iphones.... Sure theyd support and keep rlsing ios update to their old iphones, but they will mess up the updat and add lagginess experience for you to ditch your old iphone to buy new iphones. Same thing is happening ccwgtv.. theyre fcking our experience with their update so we would buy their "new ccwgtv."

probably kernel of usb hub is not supported with the update. this update fckup every third party usb peripheral that exist. I have not checked mine if the usb storage is broken too, but i would not be surprise if its broken.

I don't suppose you've found a fix for this other than using WiFi? I use Windscribe and even with other protocols I have the same problem through wired connection on my hub. Vpn connects then network disconnects. Very frustrating!
google devs/guys could fix this problem if only anyone know where you can report this bug to official google forum for chromecast with google tv but idk where that is.
I tried posting here so anyone experiencing can see this and people can report it to google devs who are here in this forum, but i guess no devs has caught this yet it here or experiencing the problem...im pretty sure it would be fix if "someone" who know guys in google and brought this at their attention
Hi, or is it possible to downgrade ?
I can't install APK or map button for exemple.
This device loses a lot of its interest now, for me.
idk. never tinker with firmware of chromecast gtv before, but this is android device so if youve been rooting or downgrading with android before, i guess its the way as this with the device.
worst scenario that you can remedy this problem is buy another one ccwgtv the 4k version and dont upgrade to the latest firmware one. And disable the auto update. to prevent force upgrade from google...block the url of firmware update with pihole or similar dns blocking to keep google away from updating your device wo your consent.

I have received the update and I hate it... A lot of the functionality I was used to that was present before the update occurred such as accessing directory paths w/in apps has been neutered. Also, the sound effects like when you toggle w/in the OS or when you select OK to open an app are ruined and there's noticeable crackling/pop. Now I'm actively searching for a way to root the device and to revert the update back to Android 11 or Android 10.

Ik you can get to the page to allow unknown sources but you need to download "send to my TV" on CC with GTV and on another android device or I assume could work if Ios has the app and install it on there also on same wifi network. Transfer an apk file to the CC with GTV click to install it from that app and it will bring a prompt up saying needing to allow from unknown sources. Click yes and it will bring you to the she setting for it like your use to seeing before this update. Worked that way for me then I could choose what to allow to install. I assume maybe if you Transfer a file manager (a certain one like this one thay brought the prompt up) you might be able to bring up the setting page on CC w/ GTV to allow Access to file directories best luck all.
This worked for me for what I needed to do so I don't need to get into the directories.
