Can't locate S Finder and Quickconnect - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Does anyone know if there's a way to access S Finder and Quickconnect on the AT&T Galaxy 6 Edge? I can't freaking locate it.

Does no one have any pointers?

1. Pull down quick settings, tap edit, look for quick connect icon.
2. Pull down quick settings, tap the gear, tap Search.

I don't have that on my AT&T 6 edge, that's why I was wondering where I can find those functions.

Does anyone have the S Finder and Quickconnect in the quick access panel for the AT&T 6 edge? If not, how do you access it (without creating activity shortcuts with Nova Launcher)?

I'm not surprised they removed those two from the drop down menu since there are so many variations of these phones.

Thanks for the link to the article. I had read that article but it seemed that people on AT&T were able to access those features, so I was wondering if I was missing something.

Discovered yesterday if you have your phone in a app that you can put in landscape mode if you pull down your quick settings you'll see s finder and quick connect there. Why you can't find them regularly is beyond me. But hope that helps you out. Though just saw you don't seem to have the options period so that is quite odd.

This is what I see on my quick panel.
As you can see, I don't have the S Finder and Quickconnect options.

That's odd as I don't have sbeam, multi window and a Couple other ones in mine. I actually saw someone in another forum who's layout of settings was completely different than mine. I suppose if you really use these features a lot you could try to Odin the original firmware and I'd think it should be there. Seems as this would be the only solution sadly. Though then in that case s beam will be gone along with a couple others. Now I'm kind of upset that I don't have a way to use s beam on my phone it's installed just non existent hah.

S beam was replaced by android Beam and is usuable through aps like Gallery or Es explorer to share with other phones that are NFC capable. This looks like the pull down from an S5 rather than an s6. which is really odd can you take a screenie of your Phone info. and show build number and such.

That I know but android beam sucks and goes through Bluetooth instead of sbeam using WiFi and Bluetooth. And from what I've seen editing the build.prop could enable s finder and quick connect.

Well that is certianly odd. to say the least. its like you have a S5 quick toggle drop..as air guesture and S beam were removed, one because ((S - beam cause Google produced a more universally working version and air gesture was more a battery hog than actually usefull)) But your build props and Device match description though. well quick connect, only usefull if you have a Smart tv and you want to show whats on your phone and google now pretty much can do what S-find does.)) but really other that doing a a full Odin with the stock firmware I don't know what to say.

One of the especially aggravating strategies carriers use is to meddle with the UI. Verizon crippled or removed a number of features on my Note 7. Thus I could not find Samsung Cloud Backup (15GB Free storage), or Quick Connect. I know VZW wants to sell me storage, but why do the care abou Quick Connect? Beats me. However, a user on another forum posted a solution. Download the app QuickShortcutMaker, install, then run. There are three categories. Scroll down ACTIVITIES and you will see Quick Connect ...as well as other missing components. Not all activities can be linked to a shortcut, only the main program. Quick Connect has more than four activities associated with it. The com.samsung.android.qconnect.ui.Main Activity seems to be the one to choose. Tap on it and then you'll see a screen to choose a shortcut, etc. I believe this can also be done with Nova Launcher, but I prefer to keep the original launcher or Google's launcher.

[Q] Multitasking?

I'm an EVO 4G LTE user and am well aware of the multitasking use on Sense 4+ but what I want to know is if the HTC One, with Sense 5, able to do REAL multitasking? For example: playing a video on YouTube (app and/or browser) while browsing the homescreen or appdrawer instead of hitting the home button or doing something else and the video stopping.

No, that feature isn't available but coming from someone who had the evo LTE the recents apps is way better than the 2 cards than are displayed on the evo. The only phone i know that has that feature is multi window option in the galaxy phones. But i like in sense 5 how if you press the recent apps you see 9 apps and the applications don't reset which means you pick up right where you left off in every app.

Well that just blows. I've been waiting for a feature like that but really would hate to get on a Samsung phone again. I do like the way the multitasking is used on the One BUT it would be nice to have 2 apps running at the same time. Thanks for the quick response.

The applications will reset based on available RAM.
Luckily, with 2GB, that's relatively rare.
Isn't it specifically in the youtube app to stop playing if you aren't on the app. I don't believe a samsung will get around this any differently.
As far as the multi-tasking, its nothing like the evo lte.
The youtbe app is designed to pause when it isn't on the foreground....its assumed you want to watch the video.

You could by a floating browser app that will let you surf the web while doing anything else.

New Tizen App DMA navi watch (similar to turnbyturn)

Just got added to the Samsung app store today. Named D.M.A. Navi Watch. It's a nifty app that shows you the next turn using Google maps.
From what I understand it's similar to turn by turn but work on tizen! It's lacking slightly with features(no 12 hour clock yet only 24) and no vibrate or screen on for next turn. BUT the Developer seems to respond to comments and is adding those features. Has a video on how to set it up.
Also I edited My build prop on my s4 to SM-G900F and Im a seeing new apps everyday

I'm not sure how to link an app from the gear manager. I go to gear manager then samsung app store. Type navi watch and you should find it. If not you have to be rooted and change your build prop model to the one I posted above and more apps will show up in samsung app store.
I'll try to find a way to link it.

How the hell do u get the stock calculator app to shut up!?

The phone says out loud everything I press, it's sooo annoying. Talk Back feature isnt enabled. I actually use the calculator on my phone alot this sucks. Any help is appreciated

That sounds hilarious, sorry. As far as I saw, the only options for talking were in the extended options of language and input in settings. I'll dig around and see if I can find something. I'll definitely want it disabled myself.
I noticed this today at the worst possible time in a middle of a meeting. Can't find an option to turn it off.
Went through there as well ,unless I'm not checking something correctly... could you check your calculator app and tell me if your having the same problem?

Did you give any app pemissions in accessibility. If you did read this image i attached. When you give some apps permission Samsung has some issues sometimes with the voice kicking on but Samsung actually had a work around built right into the phone.
Have recreated your problem just do the work around which the phone does for you.

This is how I shut off mine. Under Accessibility if you have anything under Services, turn them off. I had Greenify on and it made my calculator talk, but once I shut it off, calculator stopped talking. Hope it helps.
Found this page with people having same issue. Seems like tmobile and att is the pattern. Tmobile here. Greenify not installed. Double checked all my settings too.

You have to click on the settings button thats below whatever app you would have given permission look at my pic i posted you will see the settings listed at the bottom but since you say you didn't do that then there is no workaround. Did you turn on a app you didn't necessarily had to do it in accessibility some apps will just do it automatically. Can you tell me what apps you may have installed that help with battery or after market lockscreen just anything you can think of

NOTE 4
On my phone, it was caused by activating Greenify in the accessibility settings. When I did that, I got a popup telling me that my default language didn't match TTS. It offered me options of canceling, going to settings, or enabling TalkBack. So, for some reason, activating Greenify activates TalkBack. Voila. Talking calculator.

Lollipop, Motorola and the god awful late dialer icon.

So once again Motorola has blessed us with a new build of Android with the previous version's phone icon yet again. Any idea on how long they usually take to update this? On the list of running apps the lollipop icon(Ed) version of the dialer is there along with the kit Kat one, which sits also sadly, in the app drawer. Call it nitpicking, but while some care about tech specs others care about design and design uniformity. Le sigh.
Nerd rant over.

That's the "Google dialer" and I wonder if Google doesn't share that with OEMs outside of nexus or it costs more to add it to every phone on top of the Google play services licensing?

Smart Select APK

Hi guys! Okay, I need some help. I just upgraded to the Note 5 from the Note 4. While I like the phone overall, I'm absolutely missing the Smart Select S Pen feature from the Note 4 (which, objectively, is the better phone). Could anyone please, please, please....please post the apk for the Smart Select feature? I'm going to try to put it on my Note 5.
I found an app that actually works better than the Note 5 rendition of Smart Select (http://apkpure.com/smart-select-ocr/com.bin.smartselect) but it's just not the same. Thanks for the help!

Actually, you're 100% right. It's not a standalone app so to speak. It's, more than likely, an system apk mixed with a few other settings and system dependencies, mixed with a few thinks I'm not familiar with :silly: . In order to get the Note 4's Smart Select functionality on a Note 5 I'll probably have to reach out to one of my smart developer friends.
Thanks for responding!
