[Q] about s-off - T-Mobile HTC One (M9)

so I saw online the other day that when using sunshine to s-off the m9 it will take 3gb of storage until you delete the file, I can't see to find what site it was on, hoping someone here can tell me where to find in thanks

In /data/ delete the two hrdump files and then navigate to /system/bin/ and rename hrdump to hrdump.bak
Sent From My HTC One (M9)

Do those files return after flagging a new rom?

Bootanimation.zip

I have a question.. if I find a good boot animation that I would like to put on my phone can I just Co to system/media and replace the zip with the one I want with no worries? And its not a cwm zip its a zip file from the atrix. Thanks for anyone's help.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
yes. make sure and back up the current animation
I wouldn't bother backing it up it is totally lame anyway, lol! just kidding. You are right on with what you are doing. Backing it up is always a good idea. Save early, save often, save to multiple locations.
How do you rename or replace the bootanimation.zip when it keeps coming up as a read only file and can't be renamed?

Root Explorer works great for this.

And make sure you mount it as R/W up in the upper corner and not R/O.

You doing it in wrong way man.
1. download es file explorer from playstore.
2. enable root acces on es file explorer.
3. go to system/etc with es file explorer.
4. find vold.fstab.
5. long click it and choose open as text editor.
6. find this line "dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 34 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0"
7. change 34 to 33 and save it.
8. reboot.
You can do it via PC by using [Notepad++]....Edit the file and change the value from 34 to 33 then click save and push it via ADB to your phone, this is how to do it step by step after you change the value :
-connect your phone to PC, and open CMD
-type the following:
1 adb remount
2 adb push vold.fstab /system/etc
3 adb reboot
If your phone isn't rooted you cannot push files to system folder mate. You also cannot change the value using root or es explorer. You need to lock bootloader flash device ruu and start again. Before you flash custom rom again please read first and ensure you have correct rom for hboot. Put rom and supersu zip files including vold zip on sdcard before you do anything. Flash the files after flashing rom zip before you reboot. Once you have full root then vold edit is easy

just flash it using recovery. if your recovery not detect sd card. you have to relock bootloader and flash stock RUU and start over again.

You need ruu specific for your device mate as not everyone will work. You need to read mate and now you stuck. Your only option is to try flash New hboot as it will make sdcard visible again.

[Q] Tethering on HTC Vivid (Rooted, stock rom)

I tried many apps and none of them seems to work. Right now I have Titanium Backup installed, but I can't find any app that seems to be a Tethering blocker. What would be some possible names for that app? Also is there any other stealth Wifi app out there that I can try? Thanks.
If you search before you post... you'd find a thread with the fix...

I downloaded that zip file in that thread and got the ext.jar file, but I can't seem to delete the ext.jar file in the /system/framework directory. My phone is rooted, and I have super user permission. Is there any way to trick it to allow me to delete it? Thanks.

[Q] CWM Recovery

Hi,
So I have placed a nandroid backup file in '/data/media/clockworkmod/backup/ yet when I reboot in to recovery, I can only see the backup file I created earlier, not the one copied across.
Does the file have to be named something particular ?

What do you mean by "backup FILE"? it should be a whole directory (ie folder) named something "yyyy-mm-dd.hh.mm.ss" (unless you rename it).
Are you sure it's in /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/ and not in /data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup/?

Thanks for your response,
Its in the following folder: /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/
the name is not in the format you suggested or similar to a previous backup. The backup file itself I have received from another forum member which I am attempting to use to restore to stock

How to change boot animation?

I can't find a bootanimation.zip file. I tried to rename it as AIO_bootup.zip but that doesn't work either. I only get the word android as a boot animation now. How can I fix this?

More recently devices have been using mp4
If you have another android:
Pull /system/bin/bootanimation and put it into our /system/bin/ folder
Then you can use zips as normal
Sent from my 0PCV1 using XDA Free mobile app
The bootanimations on the stock rom are in /system/customize/resourse
Download the bootanimation.zip you want to use, then put it in the resource folder, and rename it to the name of the bootanimatiin for your carrier. For example, mine on Boost Mobile is BM_startupanimation.zip (or something really close to that, I didn't look, I just remember from when I changed my bootanimation)
If you want to keep your old bootanimation as a backup, just change its file extention to .bak instead of .zip, but it's also okay to just delete it.

/system/customize/CID/default.xml in Non Sense Rom 1.03 says that the boot animation is in /system/customize/resource/AIO_bootup.zip. All you have to do is either delete that and replace it or change the extension so it is unusable, then replace it, and it should work perfect.

If you're using 1.03 that is the correct place and name. As Burtrum57 said did you check the permissions? Mount /system, make sure the boot animation is rw-r-r or 644. After that reboot and it should work perfect.

4 is read
5 is read/execute (execute is always needed for directories)
6 is read/write
7 is read, write, and execute
The first number is Owner, the second is Group, and the third is Other. Thus 644 is
Read Read Read
Write
copied/pasted from iiinetworks at http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/65510-what-is-permission-644-444-777/
Our if you use ES File manager, locate the file and touch and hold then go to more and properties you can easily check the permissions and if necessary change them

And if Virgin Mobile: VM_startup_animation.zip
Sprint: spcs_startup_animation.zip
---------- Post added at 04:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 AM ----------
Problem I'm having is I replace my VM_startup_animation.zip and I refresh my file which is in /system/customize/resources/ and view it, and I see the new boot animation just fine. I reboot and it's the default VM one. I go back to the directory and open the zip file and it's all e original VM startup again. So it's over writing the changed file with the factory one. Thoughts?
