App no longer working - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder if anyone can help me. A friend has a HTC One M7 phone that he used to be able to use an app called Auto Answer, it automatically answers a call with his Bluetooth headset. For some reason the auto answer app has now stopped working, it doesn’t auto answer at all (just keeps ringing). I’m not sure if this is due to a firmware/software update or something else. He is on Vodafone (UK – its locked to it too I think) and it has Vodafone branded firmware, I’m not sure what version he is on I would imagine 4.4.2 or 4.4.4, it was up to date with the latest firmware when I last used it, fairly sure it wasn't 5.0 though (pretty sure his phone is a single sim version, I heard it was only available for dual sim versions?).
I have tried various apps to auto answer but they either don’t work or actually crash when they are supposed to answer. I only see him once a week and he hasn’t brought his phone with him this week so can’t give much detail at the moment. He uses auto answer because he can’t move his arms to answer his phone, so it gives him a small piece of independence to be able to answer the phone.
I tried doing a factory reset and it didn’t fix the problem. I didn't want to mess around with it trying it install roms incase I mess something up, I've not used a HTC phone before but have installed a few roms on Samsung phones.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem before, did they lock something in Kitkat that makes it so you can't auto answer (phone isn't rooted just stock) it wouldn't matter what rom he had on there only that the bluetooth auto answer thing works.
The app he had on his phone that worked a few months ago looked like an older version (infact I don't know where it came from since it didn't seem to be in his google play apps list) of this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mathalogic.autoanswer&hl=en I uninstalled that and installed this updated one, but no luck.

Help Required - Age of Handset

Hi All,
Sorry in advance if this question has been asked before. I have recently (last night), got a diamond as an upgrade from a store. However when I got the handset home and opened the box, I found that it has already been used (finger prints all over than handset, sim card already inserted, headset missing etc...). I'm assuming its the stores demo handset.
Is there anyway of telling how old the handset is or how long it has been used for? I haven't turned the handset on as yet, so I don't know what sort of data will be on it (if any).
I'm concerned that when I take it back they will say its just me thats used the handset and kept the headset (!!!), So i'd like to have some ammo to show the handset is older than 1 day.
Even if you had got a brand new unopened one though it would still be older than one day, it's not like the handsets only spring into existence when you open the box.
OK, but there must be some sort of usage timer, I know older non smart phone handsets used to have this feature. Just need pointing in the direction of where it is on this one.
yes there is
in setting someware will tell you how long the phone is used and what calls it has made...length of time
hope this helps
start>settings>system>device info. call duration tab.
same as on all htc devices.
these call timers also cannot be erased by a hard reset or a rom update, so if there's anything on there over what you've done, then you've got a demo or a refurb unit.
Kinda silly of them to leave it in that state though!!

huge problem everything works but no signal

i bought a used g1 no physical problems took it into a shop and they couldnt find anything wrong with it internally so im guessing its a software issue....dont know if this guy i bought it from tried to mess with root and messed something up but im thinking its some sort of software stuff....can anyone PLEASE help!?!?!?!?! i either get this phone fixed or keep using my nokia that seems like its from 1998 and its killing me!!!!!!
What are the stats of the phone? You can check the versions in the settings\about phone area. Model #, Firmware version, Baseband version, kernel version and build number information would be helpful.
Is it already rooted? If not, you may want to go ahead and start reading up on the root process. Some of the newer builds may or may not help the issue. But if it isn't rooted and you arent getting a signal, it very well may be a network issue. Also, does your phone service have a data plan? Has the phone gone through and passed all of the sign-in procedure? (being from another country, I am not sure what all you have to do to activate your phone) Sim card good?
thats the problem i did a factory reset to input my gmail info and now i cant get past the damn activation screen! ive been through all the customer support through tmo and cant figure anything out!!! im goin crazy
also ive found this webpage http://developer.htc.com/adp.html that has recovery, system and radio images from htc and every time i try one of them it comes up and says no signature or no verification.......not sure what to do
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
you cant apply those because your phone is not rooted. learn what your doing without randomly flashing everything that can killed your phone. and yes, you can kill your phone permanently flashing the wrong **** (i.e radio/spl)

Anyone got or know where to get FJ3?

Does anyone have an ide how to get the phone back to the "orginal" FJ3 Firmware if you not did a backup and been play around with new firmwares? smile.gif
Also how to get rid off that "rooted" sign on the GroVer. about the phone, mean if it get broken it is not good to have that "Rooted" sign all over when hand it in smile.gif
There have been several requests on the forum for JF3 (I assume you mean that since FJ3 doesn't exsist) and so far nobody has the JF3 firmware. However, the most troubling thing to miss in probably the CSC since they likely do not record what firmware your phone originally came with but they will know what carrier-specific apps were installed.
Please use the "search" function next time!

How do I update my imported phone?

I realize that this question has likely been answered here a few times, but I've read so many different answers that I'm second guessing myself.
I imported a P20 pro to the US to use on AT&T. I'm very glad that I did. It's a great phone and I've really had no issues with it whatsoever.
The model I have was an unlocked model bought through ebay and is a CLT-L29. EMUI version is 8.1.0. Build number is CLT-L29 8.1.0.121(C605)
I simply don't know where to start with updating to the latest firmware. The OTA update feature won't work on this phone.
I have firmware finder installed. I can see that updates exist for this thing. However, I don't know for sure how I download and install the update.
The methods I have read seem quite involved, which seems odd to me. It seems I should be able to download the appropriate file, stick it in a folder on my phone, reboot the thing while holding down a combination of buttons and boom...updated phone. Is this not the case for me? It always went this way for me in the past!
Please....even though I'm really really not an idiot, I need you to assume that I am and explain this to me.
I'm curious about this too. I'm also in the US on AT&T, but my device was on 128 out of the box. I'm hoping we get OTA updates when our device region gets them.

Advice for newbie needed

Hi, I've owned a Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F/DS, Dutch unbranded) for almost two years now.
I've always kept it at Android 8 as I didn't want to lose call recording, but I didn't know about the option to actually block updates so I just ignored the notifications.
Unfortunately my phone got updated recently (my fault, niece left alone with phone to play games on, wanted to help aunt... stupid mistake on my part).
I'm at Android 10 September 2020 update now.
I've been looking into downgrading (didn't work because apparently bootloader is updated) and changing csc without rooting (tried using *#272*IMEI# but that didn't do anything, after that tried the ChangeCSC Free Tool from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82875851&postcount=181 but I couldn't get that to work either as Themes doesn't show 'Try it out' but only offers Delete, Update or Buy).
What is the best way to get call recording back on my phone?
I'm not averse to rooting my phone if I have to, but I don't know where to start and I don't have the funds to buy a new one so bricking it is something I'd like to avoid.
If you need more info, please let me know.
Try custom rom may be is the best solution.
Yep Dr's ROM
Best one
Call recording working 100%
custom rom will trip knox, and samsung pass and others samsung applications will not work.
Thank you all!
Husband looked at the Dr's ROM and did whatever he had to do to get it to work, and I have call recording again
