Just got my Gear VR today. - Galaxy S6 Edge Accessories

So using it on my S6 edge and it is amazing. First off inadvisable Shields suck and the Gear VR makes you really see how bad it sucks. Also you will see where the VR hits the screen protector to the sides of the home button,
But so far i love it. The bag it came with is pretty nice to. Nice and thick. Going to use it a little more tonight. Try out more games.

Let us know what game you like most.

And super fail.
Wifi is required for vids and stuff. WTF let me use my damn unlimited data

Where's the pic man!?

Nice man, I just picked up mine last night too.
Did you try to charge the VR? I couldn't see any indication it's being charged when I plugged the charger, nor I can find the battery indicator for the VR itself, did you find it?

Got my VR 2 days ago. The headset is powered by the phone or uses the plug when it is plugged in. There's no battery in it . All the video files are pretty big lol. I had to restart my phone after getting it all set up otherwise the experience was pretty laggy and the phone got hot! but after a restart, everything runs so smoothly.
Either of you guys got a controller yet? the heroborn game looks like so much fun but you need a controller (as with a few other games). I am looking for a good one that I can pick up but cant find that many suggestions for a VR application.

Ahh, silly me, lol
No, I havent try any games yet, weekend is the only real time I have for myself, so pretty much today and tomorrow is the day I can fully explore the VR.
I did convert few movies to 3D with Pavtube in the last couple days, gonna try those as well and see how I can watch them in my own private theater, haha

Nice, well enjoy it man. It is a lot of fun tinkering around. I like the movie theater, the seats and theater itself are so REAL looking it is nuts. But I think I am going to be using this mostly for games

Help, Is the Note right for me?

Eh!
I'm considering buying this phone (uh...tablet?) but there are somethings that kinda get me besides the price.
The first thing that I want to know from the owners of a SGNote, how long does the battery life last for you. I'm a heavy user on my smartphones (My Samsung Focus can't keep up.) and most of the times I'm no where near an outlet. Also, External batteries any good?
Second thing, Do most ROMs support the S-Pen? I was thinking of rooting it and putting ICS on the beast, but I'm scared that the S-Pen won't function correctly after.
Lastly, Heavy Duty Cases? I'm rough on my phones.
Hi there!!
Would not be able to answer all of your questions, however will pitch in for few.
Battery backup?
As you already know it basically depends on the usage of the phone, wifi/3g always on with bluetooth and other connections heavy screen on time 3d games will dry out the juice quicker,
My experience
Bluetooth on for 5 to 6 hrs 3g full day, good screen on time... Lasts me a day and a half!!
This is with franco kernel.
Hard case availability??
Right place to look at is the accessory thread for note... Loads of reviews for the cases and screenguards out there... And it seems otterbox will be comming out with a cover for note soon... Some petitions as well going out there!!
S pen support??
All the roms support s pen and as you want to install ics, lemme tell you that its even better on ics rom,. When i say better I mean more responsive! Soon in the official launch of the ics by samsung we are promised premium suite ie a bunch of applications developed by samsung keeping s pen in mind!!
In my opinion its a great device and you should definitely go for it!!
If it helped click thanks
SHOT from my LOADED GT-N7000!!
S-pen is functional in the ICS ROM I'm using (Stunner). Samsung's apps don't work but there are plenty of apps that support the pen. Quill even supports the pressure sensitivity.
With heavy usage I get about 6 hours out of a battery. Normal usage, wouldn't know, it hasn't run out yet in that case. I would estimate 15 hours. The screen is a huge power hog

That's odd. On my Note it's the applications consuming much more power than the screen, the screen is actually the least of my worries there. I do use automatic brightness, though, perhaps that's the thing.

It's on top of my battery stats list with 41% of sucked power. That's with a lot of screen time though.
I think Note is a great deal for any one who wants a phone to be more than just a phone !!!!
Note is defintely one of the best phone made.
Battery last for very long, 10 hours of heavy usage with 3.5 hours screen time on.
Size? Definately not a problem, will be big at first, and u will get used to it very fast, because its amazing experince browsing, watching vids, playing games on the phone. other phones will look like a toy to u soon.
So far most of the rom maintain s pen functionality. There are so many rom to choose from, just look for the one with the s pen support.
Why would the dev create a rom for gnote that dont support s pen in the first place when the s pen is one of the best things on note.
Good luck mate.
wait.... and buy galaxy s III
no wait and buy the Galaxy S IV...no wait and get the Note 3
my SGN runs slightly more than 12hrs...
minimun running services, all black non live wallpaper and 0% screen brightness.
and i always have the usb cable with me just in case my SNG needs an urgent charge along the way in the office.

I have been using the Note for four months now and it is easily the best device I have used over the years. Here's what I think you should consider.
You shouldn't buy the note:
1. If you have really small hands, I mean REALLY small!
2. You hate using your phone with both hands (you need to most of the time)
3. If you hate the weight (but frankly, its light for it's size)
Why you should buy the note:
1. Brilliant display
I have seen people complain about the Pentile Matrix but you can't spot any differences. The display is brilliant. If you notch up the brightness to full and play a 1080p video, you will know what I mean. The big size also means that the Note is a better. Reading is amazing on it, literally. You can zoom in and the text is still super clear. There are a lot more stuff to it too. You will see when you buy it.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K353JnA5QKg&list=UUFYR86TpcLB6aEag-oofN6A&index=10&feature=plcp
2. Battery
The 2500 mAH battery is kickass. It last thourgh a full day of heavy use or two days of low to moderate use. If one 2500mAh battery aint enough, you can get more from eBay. I bought a three battery pack with an external charger for $14 and they are doing pretty well.
Listing link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-x-2500mAh...100845?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item256f009bed
It is a bit disappointing when you use your data plan a lot. But hey, you cannot have everything.
3. XDA Support
I have seen highly active forums before when I was using the HTC HD2 and the Desire HD. I must say that the Note devs and forums are brilliant. People like Chainfire, Chris X and eybee1970 are all coming up with new stuff. There are at least 5 stable ICS ROMs now. This is something you cannot get with any other phone.
4. Games
I have tried playing big and small games on the Note and they all look great. Fun games like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds etc are brilliant as usual and the bigger display just makes it better. HD games like Modern Combat 3, Shadowgun and Dead Space are in a league of their own. But somehow, I never really ended up playing big size games much.
5. GPS
Take my word. GPS is Amazing. I get locked on to 5m within a minute sometimes and the chip is so fast. It can be your ideal navigator.
GPS Demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arOYNNux_mg&list=UUFYR86TpcLB6aEag-oofN6A&index=7&feature=plcp
6. Connectivity
If you have been around the Note threads for a while now, you would have seen a guy named NZTechFreak post a connectivity demo of the Note. If the above features didn't seal it for you, that should. It describes how you can put the different connectivity features of the Note and make it function like other devices.
Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEb-DICYCgg&list=UUFYR86TpcLB6aEag-oofN6A&index=11&feature=plcp
For what I know, the Note is the best of the following:
1. A high-end Android phone with all features
2. A very good camera
3. A tablet like device that fits into your pocket and weighs reasonably less.
4. A gaming console wherein you can emulate all classic games, connect to a HDTV via MHL, use a bluetooth joystick and play.
5. A HD Media Play, wherein you use your USB OTG to connect to a 1TB HDD or a 2GB pendrive to see content on the go. You can switch with MHL and use with your TV.
6. A portable gaming console, which lets you play some of the best games out there on the go.
7. A great eBook Reader, that will easily last for several hours even if you continuously. The Super AMOLED makes the experience super cool.
8. A Internet device, using which you can view webpages the way they are meant to be.
9. Run Ubuntu on it and use it as a PC, with all features.
There are probably more cool stuff I can say, but you get the point
I hope I was convincing enough
Credit to NZTechFreak for making so many cool and useful videos about the Note

I don't mind as I'd like to know as well!
I'm no the fence as $115+shipping as a student is expensive to me....so I'd like to hear what thoughts other people have
I've been watch free for over four years and love it!
I have sponsored the Pebble, and have a Sony Smartwatch ordered to be here next week.
Both devices are intriguing, and the Pebble is due to get increased developer and app support, due to its more open nature. But since it is only Bluetooth 2.1 (so far), it would fail to support the low power modes that Bluetooth 3.0 offers, and both the Smartwatch and Gnex support.
I'm still understanding why I would need this. I'm a watch fanatic and adore luxury watches but the rubber strap kills it. I know you can change it, but that wouldn't be original.
The apps seem mostly for athletic people and that is something I'm not. I don't know. I need to be convinced. I think it's way over hyped

Should definitely not be battery heavy if it's E-Ink display. That stuff lasts forever with minimal battery drain.
Still, the night backlight would be a big issue.
I'm a backer. Bought a few. Awesome idea! No more audible caller I'd, I can just look at my watch.

Neat idea. I like the look of it, but I am not a fan of watches anymore now that I have been off a watch for 4 years or so but I can see how this can come in handy.
As for your concern on the bluetooth, perhaps you should try keeping yours on the next time you charge it up fully so you can get an idea for how long of a battery life you handle. I am sure it will use more battery though if it was sync'd to something but I would think it still use extra battery juice with it on. And could give you a better idea at what you would be looking at time wise.

On the kickstarter page, it says that the watch's battery lasts about 7 days. That's not very long for a watch...
I wonder if they could possibly integrate some solar (photovoltaic) cells to charge the battery while the watch is being worn? That may increase the battery life, even if it's just a bit.

Honestly guys is this really worth it for the price?! Sony has had something similar and better for years and I just can't wrap my head around something like this. I'm in an apparent mind **** at the moment..I mean it's not good looking or premium. All it has is a customizable screen and that's it. Really?! 150 for this?! What am I missing here?! This is a cool concept, but watches (for me) these days are more of a fashion accessory than a functional necessity. 99% of the time my phone is in my hand or on my person, so I don't really need a watch to tell me who's calling or how far I've been running.

If you think maybe you should have gotten a Pebble....

Go here to see some of the watch faces and you will know you made the right decision!

crappy pebble? pebble was released long time ago, and easily lasts a week on it's battery due to e-ink display. comparing gear and pebble when it comes to watch faces is ridiculous, and i still think that gear faces are awful. this is a 300$ device for god's sake! should be easily customizable out of the box.
I've got all 3 Sony watches and a pebble and even tho the gear has a few teething problems it is bar far a more superior piece of hardware the screen amazes me how soft and responsive it is and every day here on xda the device is coming on leaps and bounds we cannot be to hard on Samsung they have given us a great watch it just needs more work to unlock is full potential. A custom Recovery is what is needed at present so if you are friendly with any developers that know a thing about recovery have a word with them

Root, Nova launcher, widgets. etc. My battery hasn't gone dead since I turn off the wrist montion. Get 2-3 days, justa little less than my pebble.
I'll get a Google watch and a HOT one via kickstarter. I'm looking for the best and so far the Gear is it. Soon we will have TWRP. custom ROMS, etc. Don't see any of that coming to the Pebble soon.

You can side load nova launcher to the device through using adb commands on your computer
Unless you dont have electricity, have to tell time often and want a watch with no colored then by all means get a pebble. Who needs a watch on 24-7 anyways??? If you want something with color, can totally customize, play games and more then u will like the gear. Samsung kept it simple for quick access and simplicity. Mine will go approx 3 days on a single charge and will fully charge in little to no time. The gear is capable of so much more which these guys from XDA has proved. I'm waiting as to when we can push or watch a movie off this lil sucker! Haha

I've not used my pebble since getting the gear. Have ordered a Nexus 5 though and if I decide to keep that, my s4 and gear will go and I'll be left with pebble
Gear looks better, colour screen, battery life is acceptable, touch, microphone, speaker, android based. It has so much going for it
No sdk though and pebble has tasker support which is a big bonus
Pebble just never appealed to me at all. I like the idea of it, but hate the design of it and the black and white screen. If you could get the Gear for 30% off, it was really a no-brainer

Picked up my Samsung Gear 2 Neo today

Works great with my Note 3 using BajaRom. I work for Samsung. Best Buy has had a delay in their deliveries but they are fairly easy to get in many ATT stores. I really like it. Really good deal at $199. Of the 3 watches i feel that this gives the most features at the best price point. I'm not posting screenshots as they are everywhere by now. A few quick things to note. I haven't tried the sleep tracker or pedometer yet but the heart rate monitor has been spot on for me. I loaded about 50 songs on it. Bluetooth music streaming sounds awesome on this. Not sure why but i expected less but was super happy with the sound quality and volume. Speaker during calls is louder than i anticipated. Not tested battery life much yet. Very light and comfortable. There are quite a few settings that can be changed via gear manager. I'm sure some work better than others but essentially notifications can be set for all installed applications on your phone. Watch On remote is limited obviously but works great on my Mitsubishi TV with Dish Network. I also noticed that you can allow unknown apps so side loading apps will not be an issue. I will update how the sleep tracking and pedometer goes after tonight and tomorrow. Overall in a non biased way i really am impressed with the job they did and the future of smart watches in general.
Please keep us updated on the pedometer aspect. I'm looking for a replacement for my fitbit force. And I like seeing what I walk everyday.

The idea for it is that you leave your phone in the locker, and use BT headphones so you not carrying your phone around the gym/work out.
Shame its still not 100% waterproof and still unable to swap out bands. If only those two last items were met, I would of bought one.
Instead I will stick with my pebble.
I purchased the neo and then returned it for the gear 2. There is a rubber coating on the outside of the neo and even with the slightest scratch it will scrape off and the scratches are way more obvious. The button on my neo was the first thing to show a scratch within the first couple of days so I spent a little more and I don't regret it at all. The neo is perfect for a females hand also due to its weight, so if you like a heavier watch but not as heavy as the original then stick with the Gear 2. Love it except for all the initial bugs with the software.

The mp3 player on the watch is sick. I never listen to mp3s anymore but the option of not having to have your phone at times is excellent. Just to clarify YES you can swap out different bands. also its not waterproof but its water resistant. No bathing or swimming with it but who does that?

It has about 2.3gb of storage available. I have added 128 songs so far. Another guy at work has 361 so far so you can load way more than 50 with lots of room to spare lol. I used the sleep tracker last night and it works great. i will try the pedometer out tomorrow weather permitting. we have a track by my house exactly a mile long so we will see how accurate it is.

Yeah. These smart watches seem like a cool idea, but at $200 for 4GB or less of memory and only about 100 apps available, they seem like only a must-have for the extreme geek.

Seems like more than enough to serve the purpose. Its a watch with some nice features. You can transfer songs on the fly with your phone. Im not sure why anyone would need more as its used to stream some songs during a workout and its kinda small to have a 1tb hard drive built in. I cant imagine needing much storage for apps as they will be smaller and basic apps to accomadate a watch

Hello, .
Got my Neo yesterday, I can trully say that it is much better than I expect, looks and feel really good. The main purpose to buy it was the heart rate sensor, I am fade up with my polar RS800CX, it consumes too much baterries and the chest trap is a pain in the ... to wear.
So, this morning I went for a 150 minutes walk with my wife, she was wearing a fitbit one. In the end both devices had the same distance (+- 300 meters) and a diference of 400 steps, We were walking side by side with a sincronized step, The good thing was that I had my heart rate checked all the way, the bad is that some of the readings were sometimes wrong, some picks at 155bpm (too high) and an average of 122 bpm, which is a bit too much. But i´ll try some more on that to be certain.
the other bad thing for me is that I am not abble to sync with s-health, only Fitness with gear app, available on Samsung store, but everything is new I hope that in the near future things will improve.
Regards.
PS: forgot to mention that my phone is a Note 3
Got my Neo as well. love it so far but disappointed about the lack of apps!!! need more watch faces at the very least!!!!
Got it synced with my Note 2, no problems.
Long shot but it would be great if the Slacker folks did a Gear 2 app and let you download music to it.
I would be more then happy to get android wear on it and to play with more options

The pedometer on mine appears excellent, after wearing it at the same time as my fitbit force today. At the end of today it tells me 13355 steps, compared to 13669 on my fitbit and 12823 on my Note 3. Overall very happy with this.

I, too, got my Neo yesterday -and did pretty much what you did! The pace count seems ok. . .Actually I kind of thought my phone (S4 running GoldenEye or Shostock roms 4.4.2) might be more accurate! The heartrate monitor works great -except if you are in motion. While at rest on the Gym machines this morning I compared readouts from the workout machine monitors and the phone -pretty much exactly the same. However, while trying to measure while doing the elliptical or biking machine --the machine was able to deliver a pulse, but the neo either failed or gave a very low reading (my pulse was not 59 while biking the hill climb routine!)
I spent about an hour on the S Health sync thing yesterday -very annoying. The "old" S Health (2.5 I think) did not sync, the Fitness gear app DID sync. I got the Galaxy S5 S Health (ver 3.0) and loaded it on the phone and it DID/Yes sync. However, I can't find a way to get my old S Health data on the new S Health app. The ver 2.5 would present a back up restore menu when in the account window. The new 3.0 versions don't seem to have a restore option anywhere --at least I could not find it. I kind of hate to lose my old data --it's not that important, but it helps for reference and comparison.
EDIT: SLEEP.APK OK I had to manually update the Neo's rom via Kies3 (after DL/Installing Kies3, plugged in the Neo and Kies discovered a software update. I went from Neo Rom NCD to ND8.) After the update, I had the Sleep app in apps!

hello,
I am having the same problem with shealth, version 2.5 is not compatible, version 3.1 works great until i reset my phone, then I loose all data, it happened 3 times. So far the only one working is Fitness with Gear, but it is very poor, no weight management, no food, no maps of the exercice, it is really poor. So, I am expecting a new version of shealth for note 3.
About the heart rate, I noticed that during the exercice the precision is not always good, but at the end the average is ok. Let see further with some more experience. meanwhile I will hold the polar retirement.
Come on Samsung, We are expecting an update, our phones are not so old.
Regards

[Q] Are you enjoying it?

Debating if I should get the watch or not, like to see some of feedback / reviews on your thoughts on those who own the wacth. I also been looking at the thread about battery life and other things, but overall do you feel like the watch is worth it?
Planning at stopping at AT&T to see if they have on on display for me to fiddle around with.
Love it. I'm not a watch person. Can't stand them but this has made me love them. It is a novelty but it is handy also

Absolutely. It is far from perfect BUT, the hardware side it's excellent implemented and this is offering Google Wear plaftform a solid base to grow. I expect to see may OTA's in the futures with fine tuning of some of the existing features and also with new stuff .
It is by far the best looking Android wear device.
From its exterior design it's not very perfect i.e. thick bezel, small screen compared to 360 but when I count every aspect including SoC, Sensors, Screen technology, build quality, etc, G Watch R is the best choice so far(except the expensive price).

Thank you for the feedback!
its to small
When it first arrived I noticed that the screen was much larger than it looked online - perhaps all of the side-by-side comparisons with the Moto 360 made it look tiny, but it's actually a decent size. The battery life was impressive after the system update that comes about 10 minutes after first setup.
I mainly use it for changing my songs while I'm out and about. You don't realise just how much of a pain it is to take your phone out on the bus etc to switch songs, but having a few taps of the watch is such a convenience.
The only flaw I've noticed with the watch is when, for example, you switch both your watch and phone off in the night, and wake up and switch your watch on *first*... it basically shows the time that appeared on the watch when you switched it off! e.g. if I turn it off at midnight, then in the morning it'll show midnight when I switch the watch back on. I have to sync it with my phone again for the watch to acquire the correct time again. Not a big deal, and I assume it would get fixed eventually, but still...
I never turn mine off. Just stick it on charge over night.
