Copying a number from the log /phone app - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

So I've notice since I purchased the edge that I can no longer copy a phone number from the log tab.
I used to be able to press and hold to copy a number and paste it elsewhere. Now it looks like I have to press the text message button on that specific number then copy the number from the text message App... Way too many steps for such a simple task.
Is there anyway to enable this feature or have you guys found a much easier way to do this?

problem with "call sms blocker"

Hi,
I've found the software "call sms blocker". It had been made to block incoming unwanted calls and logged it... hide private sms...
I've attent to configure it but no way ! it does not stop anything that incoming !
Have you test it ? with success ???
yes. I use it and it works perfectly. It is an awesome program.
The way i have it setup is I have it set to accept all and then I make a custom list of numbers to reject. In this custom list I added all my phonebook contacts. Its kind of confusing but you have to remember that your phone only replies via sms to REJECTED calls/ and or sms. So yeah it sems weird to say reject contacts but this is what u need to do if you want your phone to send an automatic sms reply back to your contact.
So i did this for both calls and sms. I set both to ACCEPT under the "status" tab. then go into each tab "call" and "sms" and create new lists within each. Do this by tapping and holding in the window area and say ADD. Name it, make it REJECT, and make the action Hangup. Then go down to "List" (right soft key) and select number>add>phonebook. You can then check all the numbers from your phonebook that you want to add. Then also under "List" (right soft key) you can go into Advance Opt and set your custom message.
Repeat for the "sms" tab. Tap and hold in window area to make a new list. Name it, make it REJECT type, and I say "move to blocked" for action type. (this creates a new folder in your inbox of your messages so it makes it easy to find the sms that the program blocked. Add numbers from your phonebook same as I said above.
Now one thing to keep in mind. When I first started using this program I found that it only responded to my missed calls and not sms. What I discovered was that all the numbers for the sms list had to have a 1 in front of the number so that it looked like this 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx. Whereas for my call list, the numbers in the list are like this (xxx) xxx-xxxx. For some reason I dont know why, this makes a difference.
So give it a try. I hope this helps you.

[Q] contact/calendar.apk integration; ring profiles

There are 2 features I'd like make available. I am posting here to see if they've already been coded, and if not, some guidance on what i how to go about coding them (i have eclipse and the SDK for 1.6 all set up...i just need to know what native android files to modify (im guessing contacts.apk) to get the first item figured out, and then for the second item below, i'd like to see some sample code of how to set ring settings.
1) since most of our new calendar events are to meet with/call people in our contacts list, id like if the context menu for contacts could have a menu item added: Create Event. what would happen when selected is a new calendar event window would pop up, pre-populated with the contact's phone number in the Description field and their name in the Event Name field. the user could then modify these to add details. this mod would save us from having to go to the calendar and create an even to "call joe", only to have the reminder come up later and then have to navigate the contacts to find joe so we can call him. here, the event would have his number preloaded and could be clicked on (like a hyperlink) to load the number into the dialer
how do we hook into the contacts.apk file to make this type of mod? or, is the mod to be done some other way?
2) though we can select different ring tones for different contacts/groups, and we can also set different ring volumes/vibes, it would be nice to have a ring profile that would, say, only let the "family" group ring but stay silent for everyone else. this way, i can put the phone in this mode when going to sleep, but still be available for emergency family phone calls. this is much like the black list/white list app on xda for winmo.
Dude, stop double-clicking that Submit button. The mods are probably tired of deleting your double posts by now.

[Q] Why is copying a phone number so tough

Hi
In the "phone" application, if I have an entry in the call log from someone, I simply cannot copy that number to the clipboard. I have to long press and select "Edit number before call" and then copy it from the text box (not from the place it is displayed above). Highly convoluted and non-user friendly.
Is there any reason why I cannot simply long press a phone number in the call log and copy it? Even selecting text does not seem to be possible in Whats App or SMS applications. There is some cursor like thingy that appears and thats about it. I cannot select portions of text to be copied.
Can't believe I am asking this, but how can I copy portion of text, say from an SMS or from a WhatsApp message?
Thanks.

Double tap the text and you should get two handles and the select/copy/cut action bar up top.
It took me a while to get this, apparently on Sony phones you have to double tab to get to cut/copy/paste, it's easy enough once you get that though.
Sony Phone app: no copy, no send contact, no vibrate when connected.
Sony Messaging app: no font size changable, no hide message content option, can't not send (unamed) number from call log.
In term of UI functions, Sony need to do much more. I feel they still not focus enough on software
Don't tell us, tell Sony, they're the only ones who can do anything about it.
Hello,
I have another copy / Paste question. In the calendar I cannot copy the location entry. Anytime I tab it, I am asked to open google maps. Any Idea how to copy location text?
Thanks!

Not sure what do you mean "no vibration when connected, but to copy: long press on the number and to send: that's in the menu.

Peculiar Quirks

I'm currently using a T-Mobile Note 5. Previous device was Note 4. So far, I like the phone, (N4 performance was disappointing) but there are a few quirks that I have yet to find a way to circumvent. Like anything, I'm sure there's value to someone for this stuff, just not for me.
1. When sharing an image from a gallery, it prompts me to either send to an Existing Contact or new contact. So they make the first app chosen when opening a new file or link the default app automatically (one of the quirks I don't necessarily prefer, but I can live with), but then add this?
2. Caller ID contact images for incoming and outgoing calls are tiny. I've reuploaded high res images to the contact and opened the contact locally to ensure the image was loaded and cached (so it didn't just display the small image with the blurry background) and still tiny. Both making and receiving calls.
3. If i"m doing something, incoming calls show up as a pop up card with a double ended arrow to expand it. I can live with it, but i'd prefer full screen.Any way to change that default behavior?
4. When in the messenger, tapping the paperclip to select an image attach from your gallery automatically sends the message. You can only select "Send", there is no attach option. Composing text before attaching does nothing and the picture is sent and your text stays in the text box.
I was able to solve the issue of disabling screen mirroring, and no way to keep capacitive touch buttons illuminated with the installation of a few light-weight apps that reenabled the options, but I have been unsuccessful finding anything about the four things I mentioned above.

I do not have the t-mobile version so I do not know what the difference would be but my attachment button works on the stock app.
I'm able to attach files fine, it's just the behavior when I attach them. Using the attached screenshots, I'll start out in a message and I'll tap my paperclip.
After tapping the paperclip, I'll be presented with the attach menu which as my recent photos and then the other options.
Upon selecting an option, there is only one button and that is send in the top right. If I push Send, it sends the picture. If I have text in the message field, it will NOT attach the picture so the image and text go as one message. My text stays untouched in draft and it sends just the picture.
That is weird. After I select a file I have a done button where your send button is. I wonder if it has something to with the advanced messaging for t-mobile.
All I can do is picture the Dr. Evil meme with "Advanced Messaging" in quotes...
I'll see if I can find a non-updated N5 and test the behavior. When I get a new phone I do all the OS updates first, and a fresh factory wipe so I didn't even bother looking to see what was contained in the update.
I could do without the video calling button monopolizing the entire send key area since I'll never use it...
I had to go so far as to check if Easy Mode was set up... Nice job Apple Samsung.
Either way thanks for the heads up. I was out of the loop and didn't even know about the advanced messaging and that sounds like a viable lead.
Just to close the loop on this in case someone else stumbles across it. Disabling VoLTE in the call settings "fixes" #1 and #4.
Thanks to bryyyan, which is where I first learned about this.

Copy and Paste in Dialer

Just trying to find a way to paste a code into the dialer ... or better.
I have a special service for international calls. I have to call a number and then I am supposed to punch in the number I actually want to call. Ideally, I'd just like to be able to select the contact number and have the number be entered when I hit the number.
Any ideas??
Press and hold the area above the num pad, release your finger and you'll see the standard paste menu like in every text form

I tried that of course, and the paste does not appear.
Like this?
https://imgur.com/Pstfhb3 (sorry for German language, but it should be understandable)
There's also a Telephone button inside the context menu.
Not exactly. When you open the dialler, you can in fact paste. This what you have shown.
But once the call is being made, you can no longer paste. Even when you go back to the keypad.
Let me explain. I have a special dialing service. First I need to call a special number.
Then I need to paste in the actual number I want to call.
I am too new on the forum to link in a video, but I hope the above is clear.
A solution - of sorts
I've just seen your post. I appreciate it's a bit late in the day.
I've had the same problem
I use 18185 to save money on international calls. My previous phone allow me to cut and paste the number I wished to dial while connected so the access service.
It would seem that is not possible to do this on an S10.
I have however found a workaround which achieves the same result.
If you create a new phone book entry adding the access number first of all.*
In my case 02081802828
Then a comma which will give you a 2 second pause
Then the number that you wish to dial
Save this into the phone book and you will then be able to dial the number directly without having to input any phone number on the dialling screen.
02081802828,+330170732020 would be the complete number.
Hit the phone entry button and your good to go. It does take a while to connect so be patient.
Hope this helps
solved, but no longer needed.
Yes, that is what I did. But it was annoying to have to do it for all of my contacts.
I ended having to download all of my contacts and then edit them all with a code editor macro.
It was annoying but it worked, and for about a year my phone bill went down to just about nothing above my basic monthly fee.
Now, I've changed jobs and have a work phone, so I don't have to worry about it
