Remote control - LG Optimus L90

Dear mates,
I intend to buy a new LG phones. I'm in hesitation between LG L90 and LG G3 Stylus.
I really care about their remote function.
I'm wondering if either works fine with a 3rd party remote control apps like Anymote?
and which model can "learn" from other IRR devices?
Please give me your advice.
Thanks a lot

L90 has only stock app for remote and IR is coded to cooperate with only this one app, sadly.
And IR does not work at all if you are wondering about changing stock to custom rom

Thanks again . Could you suggest the similar model with open IR blaster? I really need one which has dual SIM and an open IR blaster which is compatible with various IR apps.

These retail around 99.00 on family mobile and were 229.00 at tmo last year. Im happy to have snagged mine for 30.00 usd each at my store. Lol. Time to root. My note 4 is getting a break. Lol

[Q] Where is the S Beam feature?

Hello there!
So I've just bought a Mini and was excited about the features, especially the NFC and S Beam.
According to specs, both are supported out of the box, but it seems like I'm missing something.
NFC is working with external apps (like bump) but not with built-ins like phonebook's contact sharing and Beam is completely missing - or it is just me not finding that in the settings.
So the question is, where can I find those?
Slight update: it seems that none of the apps available on play can use the phone's nfc.

The phone currently doesn't hace nfc.
Nfc chip is located on the battery.
Current releases of the device come with non nfc battery.
It might be possoble on the future to use nfc battery with compatible ROM on early versions of the device

It really is a shame... I always wanted to try those nfc tags.
They should have stated this clearly..
It's like they are giving half-functioning devices to the first customers for full price.
Thanks for your answer!

[Q] IR Blaster - Google Edition

Hi all.
Ive had a good search round no with no joy so I thought Id ask,
With the release of the new Google Edition 4.2.2 base, does the IR blaster work?
Does this mean we will have working IR blaster on other AOSP roms as well?
Assume so, but would just like confirmation.
Thanks,

will do in the future
Does it really not work?? I just assumed that you could find an app that would take advantage of the dormant blaster.

There are no APIs in AOSP to utilize the IR blaster. Functionality is said to be coming.

[Q] WatchOn APK, not working properly. Helpplease

Hello there!
I have a galaxy 3 and I downloaded WatchOn apk file. It installed successfully and everything else, BUT when I try to connect to my Epson projector. It does not work, help me please.
I know this is a issue with my device because my cousin has a galaxy 4 and it works great for him. He can turn on and off the projector easy.
Looking forward to your reply ^_^

From what I can tell, that phone does not come with an I Blaster which is part of the hardware/build of the phone.

You can't get one. it is either built in to your phone or not. it is an IR (infrared light emitter). A GS3 does not have one. they only started using them on the S4 and the Note 3. On the Note3 it is a small round black looking plastic plug on the top end of the phone just to the right of the speaker. There is a high power IR LED behind that emits beams that can work like a remote for device and they can also be used to exchange data between to similar devices.
That being said by, if you mean by Galaxy 3 as in an S3 then you cannot use this app. On the other hand if you mean a Note 3 then you can use this app and it should require no special settings. Just follow the setup instructions in the app and you are good.

Gear 2 now that Android wear is out.... #failboat

So I bought a Neo and played around with it on my work Note 3. It has fair amount of apps. Well today I bought a S5 Active. I moved my Neo over to it (requires reseting it.) and got gear manager installed. Surprise to me... It seems even though things like the clock face is an app that runs on the phone if the developer doesn't select that it works with a phone you can't use it. Which should be a simple change for most things however it doesn't seem that developers update their Samsung store apps. For the S5 active there are only a handful of apps even though I am sure 99% all the apps would work if the dev would click the "it works with an s5 active"
After dealing with Samsung support (or the lack of it) I tried to get on the Samsung app store webpage. It seems they are having server errors so it was been working like crap. I was kind of able to get contacts for a couple of the app dev's to ask that they update their app to work with the S5 active. Samsung app store doesn't provide contact information unless the dev adds it. One of the devs linked to his google+ page. Which showed he is working to get the same app with improvements to work on android wear.
This got me thinking. Who is going to mess with this crappy half baked Samsung store with Google coming out with Wear? I'd guess we won't see anyone making new Apps for the tizen watches, they don't even update it to work with new phones it will run on with no changes...
I just got the Neo and I am on the fence of returning it. I figured I could get by with apps I had on the Note 3 until someone got a Wear rom for it. With the lack of apps when paired with the s5 I am not impressed at all and after my research today I am liking it less. I got it over the wear because it was only 150bucks vs 225, it has a speaker and IR blaster and Android wear is lacking in features (sure to change in 6 months to a year). I figured by the time wear got up to speed there would be a rom. Thinking about it some I am doubtful, I think the speaker and IR blaster (camera if it is a gear 2) will prevent it from ever happening. None of the wear watches have these so I'd guess there isn't low level support.
I guess I need to return it and wait for the 360 come out.
I had the same problem with my active. I modified the build prop to identify my device as a regular s5 and have all the apps again.

I changed the ro.product.model line from SM-G870A to SM-G900A
I'm definitely going to sell my Neo and wait for the Moto360. I like the Neo fine, but am getting sick to death of having to run stock based ROMs. I will miss some features of the G2, but damn that 360 looks beautiful and development should be great

I sold my Gear 2 and got the Gear Live. What a huge mistake. I didn't realize how much I missed my Gear 2. Luckily I found someone to trade my gear live for the Gear 2. The card system on Android Wear is terrible.

Phone is rooted, not the watch. I rooted by using towelroot. Look in the particular forum for your phone for instruction, I don't want to give bad advice.
I understand how to root. My question now is, will this work with any phone?

Question Some questions before buying

I need a new phone with NFC and am considering Redmi Note 10 Pro. I need NFC because of a medical device (glucose sensor). Does NFC work well with custom ROMs? Can anyone check if the device is compatible with the LibreLink app (app for the sensor)? The app should be from Abbott but it may vary depending on the region. Lastly, if it is compatible can you try to install and open the app when I tried the app on Oneplus 6T it just crashed.
I'm using NFC for payments with google pay without problems on custom rom.
I was able to install mentioned app. However after launch it stuck in the something that look like splash screen. This was tested on PixelOS (A12) rom.

Not really the sensor, in my case Abbott's Freestyle Libre, measures blood glucose and transmits the data with NFC to the phone. They are called Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) and there are other companies that offers different CGMs. If you want to learn more about them you could search CGMs and if you or anyone close to you needs one of these you should talk with your endocrinologist.
