[POLL][MOD][DPI] Larger TW UI Tab S T800 LP - Galaxy Tab S General

I just typed up a whole paragraph and firefox froze... Anyway, I have discovered that if you change your dpi, everything crashes. But, systemui, and alot more apps do not. That means touch wiz bugs out and makes everything huge like on kk. This fills up the whole screen and looks real slick. Tab A ish. Awesome right. This means that some apps support multidpi but bugs out in a way that makes it huge.
Its working fine on my tab s after replacing a few apks and such. After some serious testing I have found out that systemui and framework res supports multidpi. Awesome huh!
Crashes
Contacts, Camera, TW launcher, Wallpaper chooser, and 50% of multiwindow. Popup window works.
Polling
If anyone would like to see this working or continued, let me know! I'm deciding weather to continue this if there are lots of requests.
Minor changes
I would need to replace some apps like camera and such with some from CM or google if you dont mind.
Devs
I am in need of a custom ROM base. I don't have time or experience to get a fully one working. I need your help!

sometimes I may need testers. Most times I don't.

420 DPI. As you can see its much bigger and the difference is huge.

Great finding! Small fonts and lack of Xposed under LP are a deal breaker for many, so please go on and let's try to find a solution.

Boss, I hope you will extend on T700. Best dpi is 384 or 40 I think. If you need tester for 8.4 model, I am here!

Once I get more time to test for my T800, I'm guessing it should go well for T700. I already have twdetox downloaded just in case I had some T700 users

For me this is most important thing in tab s development. I am forced to escape to cm because of small dpi.

Hmm after some more testing, my themes work fine and look great with this! Some altering around with icons could get it working. Layouts bug seems to be fixed with changed dpi.

Great. Do you have something for t700 to test?

Not yet ☺ Once I get things working on my T800, it should be a similar process for the T700. But soon!
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk

I haven't built anything for T700 yet. I've been working on my T800 before starting on T700. So far, 340 DPI is good and anything above 360 DPI makes it nexus 7 like. Some apps will be replaced with cm12 apps like the launcher and there are still a little f/c here and there.
Multi window 75% working. But can't drag. Only apps can be pressed.
Lock screen wallpaper may require some injection of an image since wallpaper chooser is broken. I don't mind personally.
Well do more later. Its 5am and ive been up all night. Too much school work lol
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk

I will wait patiently. Just to suggest; go with 384dpi, I have tested many dpi's but this and 400 giving natural size off any app later. For me 8.4 tab is logical to have phone like layout (10.5 I do not have; probably it is stupid to have too big everything ). Go on friend with this very important development!

[THEME] Inspira for CM508 Released! v0.1(06/26/2010)

Here is the new theme that I'm working on.
It's still have many things to finish, but I decided to post this first release, to take some stress away (I'm getting many issues theming Cm508 and I had to make some things again after the update).

Known bugs in V0.1
- Calendar widget is not finished, but you also can use smooth calendar included
- Still have to change some icons in statusbar
- ...
Things to do:
- include wallpapers
- make just a theme zip, and make it work without freezing the device.
- fix twitter app
- finish some pressed png for widgets
- changing icons for some apps
- light effect for statubar icons
- ...
PD: any idea are welcome!
Credits: many many special thanks to Anderweb and Cacheinjection
Thanks to GLa'DOS for the bootanimation , if it's not included, I'll do in the next update.
Thanks to senaia1 , because of people like him, I made instructions on the launcher
Thanks to missrott3n becuase she takes care of my discipline
Thanks to Baby_Noah, because he makes me want to be a better person in Twitter
Not everything in this theme is mine, but I don't remember where I got it from, so if you think you can be here, just make me know
Thanks!

This looks nice!!
I really like the look of that launcher, maybe have a small MetaMorph pack where people can add their own photo and info to change it? I dunno how user friendly that would be. (I can just change it myself)
wow this looks sooo fantastic.
and i I would be you, I would not upload any beta here.
So many other dev's did that (inclusive cyanogen) and all they earned from the community here were complains instead of helpful feedback.
looks and sounds promising...most definitely gonna bookmark this
nice....
Any chance you could make and hdpi theme for froyo on nexus? I think this theme would be amazing

Right now, it's not in my "things To do list", just because a I dont have a N1 where I can test. BTW: if somebody have an extra N1 for me: problem solved!
But , I'll keep it in my mind, and maybe one day, I can prepare something. BUT I DON'T PROMISE IT.
Thanks for your comments.
what do you think about this launcher?
and here it's in action:
The launcher looks good.
is there a way to make the image and text configurable by the user? I would love to able to change it on the fly.
By the way, i think what you have is dope.

It's funny you asked me this, because, actually, this theme started as a project-idea I talked with Anderweb, about creating a new launcher which allows us to set our name and user picture, like you can see in the first caps, and some other changes between this and the original launcher.
Right now Anderweb is busy working on his great launcher, (I'm sure none of us both imagined how succesful his first launcher would get some weeks/months later, the first time we talked about this), and, unfortunately, I'm not a programmer, so I cannot do it alone. So the only thing I can do is waiting.
Here is another idea for the project.:
I love the notifications bar.
I'd like to see what the transparent widgets look like on a dark/black wallpaper though.
Great work so far.
The ides to click on the picture for some sort of info bubble popping up is a great idea. If you can implement that, this will be golden.
Sleek and clean very nice!

fantastic idea...incorporating the 3d flying effects of the ADW launcher with the thought bubble concept is very nice
Would be cool if the launcher was tied to a Social app(like friendstream).
This would be a cool idea, but difficult, well soon would be easier to make it for twitter, 'cause they will open their API.
Here are some other caps

Did you get the .apk to install and show in 'Theme Chooser'? I feel it might need more work than the just the images porting as it contains lots of .xml files that would, I guess, be integral to the layout. I've not had much of a play with the Theme Chooser .apk's, but I am sure someone will be able to port this to mdpi for CM7 based ROMs.
Just install it, it works! There are a fwe things like notification pilldown isnt right but still looks sweet

If it installs then it's just a matter of resizing, re-9.png'ing some of the images that look out of place. Simples
CM7 i am using,i did resize alot on the png's using photoshop and changing to 66% of the size but after 3 hours i couldnt do lots of them due to alpha channels and stuff so i gave up

this is a link from themeporter. it can resize the pix, so you don't have to do them al manual.
Tried it thanks, says its done but does nothing
As I already said in the main thread, download LCD Density Changer and set your density to 140.
Then install the theme as usual.
Works fine for me, using Ele's Gingerbread.
That doesn't work either, the same flaws as before plus new ones
This may be of use: ASimmons.
I will take a look later, but depending on how many 9.png's there are that need to be re-done I may not have the patience, but will see what the tools out there can do. My days of manually doing 9.png's are over... just can't take it any more lol
I've found out how to resize easily using photoshop.Redoing them now but i fear that some of the icons look strange so wont work....

Best of luck with the resizing Bonesy, hope it works

I need to finish HDPI before I resize everything. That's a lot of work, I'm only gonna do it one time. Just added a ton of stuff to the theme, colors for select and focus are all changed now. To resize at this stage is not going to do anything but slow progress on everything. If someone wants to start after I release Alpha V2 go for it, would save me tons of work.
I remember a script to resize HDPI to MDPI but forget where I seen it at? It would be awesome to edit that for these themes so every HDPI graphic could be resized without doing it manually. It would be worth it for some MDPI devs to chip in, that way every HDPI theme could be converted to MDPI with ease. Resizing 2000+ png's is not fun

[APP] Fascinate Xperia Arc Launcher (Modified)

I found a version of the Sony Xperia Arc Launcher that works on all Galaxy S models. I have tweaked it to remove unimportant little things, and make it transparent, and a few other things that I hope you enjoy. It is lightweight and simple, it works as a better alternative to a similar to stock (Touchwiz) look, its minimal and incorporates a sexy transparent theme to it. Also, it has the option that uses FOLDERS, like the iPhone and MIUI. Thanks to backhead92 for the modification to fit our phones from here. For those of you who hate lag, this launcher does not lag at all in the home screen mode or in the app drawer, nonvoodoo. I'm sure it's even faster with Voodoo. Hope you like the little modifications.

I've been thinking about it but I'm really busy with my last semester of college and job offers. Once I get this job and graduate I'll most likely put a good chunk of time into compiling roms together. They'll most likely be similar to Adrynalyne's roms but have great themes. As of now though, I don't have much time or the knowledge to develop a successful rom. Thanks for your support though.
Is there anyway to use custom icons for the folders? I've been messing around with this for a couple days and my main complaint is that the stock folder icons are boring. Pretty cool launcher though, thanks for posting.

Would an icon pack change the default icons of various apps or provide more templates to choose from in the folder section?
Not really sure as to what icons would be good. I'm running mob's honeycomb theme so anything that works with that would be cool. I know someone posted all the default honeycomb icons in this forum recently and I could link those if you'd like to use them.

It does not work on a normal Galaxy S.. D:
Any help would be appreciated... : D
Sounds like this launcher will run really fast on slower devices, eg HTC Legend.
I will try this on a normal Galaxy S (I9000).
It looks pretty good, actually looks alot like my custom GTG launcher.
1) It has 5 homescreens instead of 7, no biggie.
2) The app launcher has 3 action buttons (alphabetical order, home button, edit mode) on the bottom (my launcher just has the home button, normal TouchWizz has the App-toolbar on the bottom).
3) Q: Does it have a landscape mode?

clock is mclock widget with kingdonnaz' theme
IP widget is called wifi widget by ken burger I think...available in market
the battery percentage is part of my own personal custom rom... working with task650 ... will prolly do a limited release/test for the wifi version soon
great find, but ill wait a couple of weeks.
the most annoying thing is that it keeps saying unexpected error in the notification bar and i wish we could set it to have at least 1 more row... 5 is not quite enough
This is how my app draw looks after a reboot
after turning it horizontal it fixes itself up
Hoping there will be more features coming soon
I like this one much better compared to adw and stock

Go Launcher HD is the best way for the moment to make your G-Tab 7.7 very fast.
I was surprised that Touchwiz UX is so so so laggy!!!
Thank you the Go Team
My opinions on some Launchers
All the customization options are gone in this HD version. Remember, this is a beta & I think these guys are awesome but it's not fully done yet.
I hate stock btw, it's waaaaaaaaaaay too slow, for now Go Launcher EX is the best in my opinion.
I bought SPB Shell 3D, it's cool & fast BUT: something's up with the graphics, they're kinda grainy, almost as if it's 16 bit color instead of 32. The biggest problem is it's so unstable. Almost unusable. I'm waiting for the next version to try it out.
I also have LauncherPro, it's not really that good for a tablet size since the icons stay small!
I've heard people say ADW is better but I haven't tried it out yet.
BTW, I don't carry my phone around with me anymore, I use my 7.7 as both phone and tablet (with bluetooth headset of course). Does anyone else use this thing as a phone or am I the only nut?
I use ADW.EX, which is definitely worth the buy. It runs smoothly, and doesn't have any bugs I've come across. I haven't tried GO Launcher so I don't know what features you require in your launcher, but I've been comfortable with ADW for a long time now.
If you look around here, lots of people use the tab as their phone. For me, even though it fits in pocket (at least, for most of my pants), it's still big enough that it feels awkward, and I don't want to step up to carrying a murse around, so it's normal phone for me, plus tablet as needed.
I've switched to it already from Go Launcher Ex which was pretty good on it's own to be honest but is much, much better.
Gone is the stupid dock left over from the portrait phone launcher days... this is a proper tablet launcher.
No problems at all here. No errors and HD Widgets work fine but would love the ability to hide apps like in ADWEX. Managing with folders right now.

Yes, but what bugs me is how this launcher only allows you to size the grid up to a maximum of 5 x 10!!
I have more real estate here than any dinky phone so how come I'm stuck with less than what LauncherPro, ADW, GO EX (10 x 10!), TW & probably others give me??
I'm sure the developers are working on a final version & I hope they listen to my feedback cuz I love it & really it's just that one thing that is bugging me.
This has become my default launcher on my 7.7. TW is horribly laggy, which is a huge surprise for me, coming from the SGS2 and Note. I tried ADW EX as well, but it looked "clumsy" on the 7.7. Go Launcher HD looks very polished and professional in comparison, so it stays and ADWEx goes.

[Q] Identify Galaxy note as 10inch tablet in the market

Hello all,
I just started to play around with my Galaxy Note. I rooted it, flashed the speedmob kernel and then the ParanoidAndroid V2.22 Custom Rom based on CM10.
Everything runs fine so fast, better than the stock-rom. I especially like the tablet mode.
I read about many build-prop tweaks to install incompatible market apps, but found nothing on my problem.
I want to install tablet-optimized apps, in this case the chameleon launcher, but the market won't let me do this.
Is there any possibility to tweak something, to make the market (and also the running apps) think that this is an 10 inch tablet (for example the Galaxy Tab 10.1)??
It should be an 10inch tablet to have the bigger grid size of the launcher (6x4 for 10" and 4x2 for 7")
I think the screen resolution is the same (1280x800), also the Ram and CPU should have enough performance. And I know the launcher is running on the note very well (but not installable via market and only with a grid of 4x2)
Is this possible and what do I have to change?
Thanks a lot for every hint!
may be possible by dpi setting in the build.prop file

But if I only change the dpi setting, I think, it will still be recognized as the GT-N7000.
Has anyone the content of the build.prop of an galaxy tab 10.1?
Then I can just try to copy this, right?
Which amount is the minimum dpi possible?
i guess u should go an check in that forum.. by the way... its just like Svoice.. to make it work u need to change the model name in build.prop to s3..
this mite not be the coreect method..do a lot of reading b4
There is a guide for making note like galaxy nexus but i hvnt tried it.
I have tried 213 dpi setting on stock tw and used chameleon launcher.it was awesome but as it was tablet mode, battery drainage was fast.

Just looking for the Nexus Guide, I already saw this. But this i an 7inch tablet.
Can anyone post the content of a Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Note 10.1?
Then I follow the Nexus Guide but take the Galaxy Tab Model Names
What is the worst thing that can happen, if I change anything wrong?
the phone wont boot.. so make a nandroid backup b4
I think first of all you need buil.prop of note 10.1 then you can do something.
Why you want to do that???there is already tablet modes available man.
Hit thanks buddy

Sure, I am already using ParanoidAndroid in Tablet Mode... But in this Mode i still cannot purchase the Cameleon Launcher from market and also this launcher only runs with a small Grid Size of 4x2 which gives very little space for the widgets... I prefer them with smaller fonts but more space to move.
On 10inch tablets (also with 1280x800 resolution) there is a grid size of 6x4.
And I want to purchase the launcher with the bigger grid size...
Don't Care, I have good eyes

Thanks for opening again. Also from my side, please stay on topic. I want to support the chameleon team and buy the app.
The purpose of my thread is to tweak my note to get access to this "incompatible" app.

By changing the Screen Density in the build prop, I just got a plain Tablet view (Although there are very big unused borders at the top and bottom in potrait mode and leeft/right in landscape) and was also able to install the launcher regularly via the play store.
Everything fine so far.
But I just got the small grid (indeed this is just 3x2 not 4x2) and think there might be a way to change this.
On the developer Site
http://chameleonlauncher.com/widgets/makeawidget/design/
there are mentioned different layouts for 10" and 7"
Any ideas how to get the bigger grid?
And also how to remove the ugly borders with unused space?
I treid different DPI in the buil.prop, but only the basic 320 and the applied 160 had good results. Everything else messed up the entire screen and forceclosed the systemUI (tried 180, 190, 200, 240)
