For those who do not have access to a computer I achieved root on Kit Kat without a PC by following these steps :
All needed items will be linked below.
Root device using kingroot (will not trip Knox) if you are only wanting root for basic root apps (greenify etc.) then this is all you need to do. Have fun! (Just remember anything that changes the /system partition significantly such as xposed will trip Knox.)
To install superSU instead of kingroot/kinguser (will trip Knox)
Install flashify from the play store
Use flashify to install twrp (this step trips Knox)
Download SuperSU zip
Remove kingroot and the included kinguser app (follow instructions from kingroot thread)
Reboot into recovery and install SuperSU zip
OR :
After installing twrp just download a ROM (and if needed gapps) of your choice and flash.

You've just negated the whole point of using kingroot, not tripping Knox.
You could have simply rooted using twrp or cfauto root without kingroot at all. I know it saves connecting to a PC, but that is trivial.
Kinguser supersu app is fully English and has no problems as a supersu replacement. I used it for months.

Some people don't have a PC - this method would let them install custom roms or install xposed without needing a PC.

I agree but then you stated about flashing supersu and twrp which would trip Knox and sort of made the first part of your informative post pointless, that's all.
Also flashing roms will also trip Knox, so again negates the point of rooting with kingroot.

I see your point - will modify the op to reflect different goals of rooting - my use of kingroot was to obtain root knowing I was going to trip Knox to install a custom rom as I do not have a PC to run Odin.
Kingroot does not work on lollipop. Don't want to trip Knox. Is there any other way to root? Not flashing any rom BTW.
If you have a computer and can downgrade to 4.4 kingroot should work then

I had never heard of that tool. Did it work well on KK ? Looks like there are newer versions that could work with Lollipop. My only concern is that it is all in Chinese and I don't know how reliable it is

Some folks have speculated that King Root might work on Lollipop if you have the Exynos chip and not the Snapdragon. Unfortunately, or fortunately, for me, I have the Verizon with the different chip. I believe I also read that Sprint variants also have Snapdragons.

Sprint does have snapdragon, but their bootloaders are unlocked in which they can flash anything they want. Sucks that kingroot doesn't work onm Verizon

I'm not sure whether the failure for it to work is the exploit itself or user error.
It has worked both on my exynos tab s t805 and my snapdragon m8.
Both running kitkat.
Earlier versions have worked on other devices I own.
I can't see what would be different exploit wise with the Verizon device.
It took me a few goes for the exploit to work and most importantly the device will reboot at least once and then continue the exploit, so must not be touched after the reboot.
My advice here is to set the screen timeout to at least 10 mins, so it can be monitored after it reboots.
Also it needs to be kingroot v4. Another point is that if the app root fails then it's worth trying the desktop version as, from past experience, this has worked when the app hasn't.
Yes but in my opinion the app is interesting because it makes it possible to keep the Knox counter at 0×0. Using the desktop version installs another recovery and triggers Knox. But it looks like the team is working hard to make it functional for devices on lollipop. I hope we will see progress for the tab s

The bootloader is irrelevant as the exploit doesn't involve the bootloader. Not only that it works on the bootloader locked att model.

hello just wondering if after king root gains root would I be able to update from Samsung update in settings ? And if It does let us update from setting will it remove or patch over the root exploit..! Thanks...

As far as Knox is not tripped, I believe you should but you will lose root in the process.

I have not read any posts from anyone that has been able to root a VERIZON (caps used for emphasis ) Tab S (SM-T807V) with King Root or Kingo.

Has anyone found a method to replace kingroot with supersu without tripping Knox? I have tried the same steps that worked on my s6 on here and that didn't work. Worked only right after completing the process but when I reboot I lost root.

Yes. I used this on my 2 months old S4. Then installed SuperSU from market, using Xposed modules. Knox is still 0x0

Edit: however you never can't flash custom recovery or directly Custom rom, but similarly I'm using Safestrap. You have to study all about this method

Me hapend on my S4 too, when I updated on Knox v2. Then i had to via odin flash older kernel, then execute towelroot, than back right kernel. For my S4 existing files for odin on Xda, but I'm afraid for S3 LTE not
I think, you have to decide if you want be warranty off or not. If yes, then you can flash custom recovery with root, if you want be in valid warannty, you must stay without root.

I might look into this method myself for my S5. I was lucky enough to get a S5 with a kernel before June 2014, so towelroot worked nicely for me. Knox is still 0x0 and it has su, busybox, and xposed installed on it. Any mods that I've done I've manually pushed over and fixed permissions, I've NEVER had the balls to actually flash anything (as I want to try and keep knox at 0x0 as long as I can), so I am definitely gonna look into this Safestrap recovery system.
Unfortunately the new 4.4.4 kernel for the S3 has been made prior to the June 2014 date, so towelroot will be useless, and unlike some methods explained for the S4 and S5 there is no kernel to downgrade to (as far as I know). In other words, you have a proper 4.4.4 firmware and want to keep knox, no custom stuff for you

You were lucky you had an older kernel to downgrade to. I've actually noticed that Lollypop (5.0) is now on the S5, however I think I'm gonna stay where I am, because you could nearly guarentee you won't be able to keep knox at 0x0 and have su.

What ROM? You can try flashing the correct CF Auto Root for your phone model and Android version using Odin if it using the latest Lollipop.

I have to look, so, for 'CF Auto Root' for G800FXXU1BPC3 Lollipop MR1 and
Odin.
Odin goes on PC and
CF Auto Root goes on device.

Both files go on PC, you used Odin to flash CF Auto Root into mobile. Seek for the files in the official page:

There are many videos on YouTube about it as most Samsung phones are rooted this way. Just make sure you use the correct file for your phone (G800F).
Backup everything you can first in case something goes wrong you may need to wipe mobile data and reflash stock ROM.
The other option is to use Odin to flash TWRP and then flash SuperSU zip from Chainfire. First, TWRP goes on PC then SuperSU Zip on phone, that you flash using TWRP. I am sure there are tutorials here about it, just pick TWRP for G800F, SuperSU is universal but some version may be needed according to your Android version. Can't help more because I have G800H and not rooted as Marshmallow was released for it and it has all I need. Good luck.

first way, I think, should be more simple.
How silly, I would root to change fonts on device.
And of course to free space, delete junkie and have control of my device.

You can change fonts using atock, no root needed. Also use Debloater to disable junk, no root needed either.
You can't use OTA to upgrade to MM when it arrives as it usually won't install or bootloops, so you will need to flash MM to go back to stock and upgrade then root again. Flashfire from Chainfire would be able to install OTAKU and keep root, but support to S5 mini is unkonwm, and no reports of success as far as I know.
Last but not least, flashing anything other than stock ROM through Odin will trip a Knox security counter and you'll lose warranty.

Will it be perm root and be able to have use of Recovery like TWRP? i assume system less root? Please share this method with TWRP devs and other big root devs you can find on this forum so we can hopefully get AOSP on S7 AT&T edge if you think that is possible with this. Tired of SAMSUNG UX Lag

So...I guess it technically works. I flashed this linked file with modified version of Odin then ran root.bat. Samsung phone info app says i have root and i even get the prompt to deny or grant access to apps but have yet to actually get one of the apps requiring root to open. Flashfire has been sitting on loading for about 10 minutes now. One thing for sure is, it is SUPER laggy. I.don't recommend it. Not worth it in my opinion, ill probably go back to MM if i want root.
There was "Onion root" for 6.01 in the T-Mobile area. Has anyone tried that? Will it work for this Nougat test kernel?

Root without an unlocked bootloader ends with N. The wise saw this coming. I doubt anyone will "leak" the tools to unlock bootloader. I'm staying on MM with exposed and lucky patcher.

I just ran across this root method which appears not to use the engboot and apparently works on the AT&T SGS7 edge. I have yet to read the rest of the thread, but it has been mentioned in a couple Android sites.
After hunting for files to download for Odin and failing, and trying two one-click solutions that told me the files are not available, I am having trouble finding step-by-step help for rooting my Galaxy Note 3 N900AUCSEOC3 for my Android 5.0 install (received as a normal upgrade from AT&T). I gather that the OC3 refers to a particular release (of OEM Android?). I haven't quite digested the implications of attempting to install a custom rom, so I first want to simply root the device, preferably, but not necessarily, without making KNOX angry (although perhaps I can't install a custom rom without first rooting, anyway?). Is there a tested way to do this for my Galaxy Note 3 -OC3, or can someone confirm that it can't be done at this time?

Same problem over here. I used to mess with this stuff on the note 1 but been out of the game too long.
The AT&T Note 3 has a locked boot loader so you can't flash a custom ROM using TWRP. You can only flash custom ROMs that can be installed via SafeStrap.
I too am having the same problem, I can not find the files to root my AT&T Note 3, Bootloader: N900AUCSEOC3. Also what does this mean: I see two hlte codes, one is hlteatt under Device tab, (I am using Device Control from the Play Store) and the other is hlteuc on the Product tab. With the hlteuc code, does this mean that I can root this with a generic SM-N900 Root or not. I can post a screenshot if necessary. EDIT: I have tried all sorts of "Auto Root" apps such as KingoRoot TowelRoot KingRoot Universal Androot, etc. to no Avail.

I was on OC2, so I am not sure at all about 3 but this worked for me.

I have flashed Aurora rom and Alliance v12 to stock slot without any problems. Alliance is very buggy. NFC and System FC like crazy. Be SURE to wipe before installing rom. First boot takes forever.
Hello, I'm very new to rooting, but over the last few days I've spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to root my phone. Last year I used KingRoot on my Galaxy S4, but it inundated my phone with ads and malware stuff, so I've developed an untrust towards these one-click root apps. I also read how that Android 5.0+ can't be rooted with these one click programs anymore. So I searched up how to root Honor 8, with one of the coming up being on this site. I followed the steps (as confusing as they were), and ended up unlocking my bootloader, flashing TWRP and SuperSU. Now, the reason why I want to root is to use GameGuardian to mess around with some games. The title of the post on how to root the Honor 8 said, [Guide] Unlock Bootloader // Install TWRP // Root - one of these being root, but not once in the actual post do they actually specify when the root happens. I've completed the process, tried to run GameGuardian, and I still can't use it. I downloaded a root checker and it says that my phone isn't rooted. (Heres the link to the guide btw: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-tested-root-t3443946) So now I'm very frustrated as to how to root my phone, cos ik rooting can mean many things - including unlocking bootloader and all that with the TWRP custom recoveries and SuperSU, but all I want is a permissions root to let me get run GameGuardian..... I also read how that Android 5.0+ can't be rooted with these one click programs anymore. So I searched up how to root Honor 8, with one of the coming up being on this site. I followed the steps (as confusing as they were), and ended up unlocking my bootloader, flashing TWRP and SuperSU. Now, the reason why I want to root is to use GameGuardian to mess around with some games. The title of the post on how to root the Honor 8 said, [Guide] Unlock Bootloader // Install TWRP // Root - one of these being root, but not once in the actual post do they actually specify when the root happens. I've completed the process, tried to run GameGuardian, and I still can't use it. I downloaded a root checker and it says that my phone isn't rooted. (Heres the link to the guide btw: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-tested-root-t3443946) So now I'm very frustrated as to how to root my phone, cos ik rooting can mean many things - including unlocking bootloader and all that with the TWRP custom recoveries and SuperSU, but all I want is a permissions root to let me get run GameGuardian..... Please someone help. I've looked high and low and I'm at a loss.

Flashing SuperSU on an unlocked device should yield the desired outcome if properly performed. Suggest you reflash the latest SuperSU build (at present 2.82 SR5) which can be obtained from here.

Didn't say that. I confirmed the procedure should work on a device with an unlocked bootloader caveated with "if properly performed". Recommend retrying with 2.82 SR5.
