So I've decided to put together a development team - LG Optimus L90

So I noticed there were several developers doing their own thing for this device, but no one was really collaborating with each other. So that led me to an idea. I want to put together a team of developers, who can all work together, to achieve a better overall custom ROM experience. I'm making this thread, because I'm really hoping some of you might be interested in helping out. There are a number of ways you can contribute, so don't think you have to be skilled in programming languages for this to apply to you. Right now, any of the following things would be useful:
-Photoshop or GIMP experience
-Any programming language experience
-A fast computer to compile builds on
-A server to host builds
-General knowledge(cherry-picking/fixing merge issues/etc)
-Free time and a willingness to learn
-And pretty much anything else ROM/App/Kernel related
If you are interested at all, please feel free to PM me, or post here with any questions you might have. Thanks everyone!

It's so cool to see someone creating their own developing team. I don't have much coding experience, but I'd love to be of help. What kind of ROM do you have in mind? Like, consumer-wise... look, feel, that sort of thing.

Right now, features are undecided as I'm still putting together a team. I can tell you that it will be based on CyanogenMod though, and that it will be heavily optimized. As for features and look/feel, I'll have to discuss that with the other members. See if we can come up with some good ideas

Thank you xda community!

Recently I've learned a ton of things about building cwm flashable edify zips on android and I've used a slew of apps, programs, and knowledge found here on the xda forums. I'm also frequently testing scripts and software and settings for other devs and giving feedback as much as I can with as much detail as possible to help better the experience of others using the same stuff I do.
So I wanted to say thanks to the xda team, mods, devs, and helpful community members. Because of you I feel very accomplished and included and even a little important, which is nice since I live an otherwise mediocre life (that I'm very sattisfied with btw) and have a pretty run of the mill job (retail electronics), and lately haven't been doing much in the way of developing myself.
I'm very glad to be here.
Thanks xda.

Something is weird in the dev section...

I don't understand/speak english very well, but it seems it's like if all the dev who's working on the Note are fighting against each other, like children
I respect the devs and their work, but everything would be better if all the devs unite all together in order to do a great ****ing rom...
Whats your assumption based on?
I have big respects for all devs / chefs here. If it wernt for eyebe i wouldnt have solved some issues in the early days of my rom. Theres always healthy competition which is good for users and peeps who suffer ocfd.
And if someone is critical in a constructive manner then it spurs you on to perfect as best you can. Androids open source and that ideology is used in cutom roms. Share and enhance pushing the boundaries of whats avaliable and All for the benefit of the users on xda. In an ideal world eveyone would work on one rom. However its not and people like choice and variety and thats what you have here.

I don't get the impression that there's any bad blood in the dev forum, but if I had one wish, it would be that every dev would need to state their design philosophy (and perhaps some of their methods) in the beginning of the thread, to get a better feel if their particular product is for us.
Without ROM competition will not be a good product. All interested in promoting ROM developers will try to offer the best.
Yeah, one might think so, they are fighting against each others.
But if y ou read between the lines it is because some "devs" just don´t care about some sort of protocol.
"steal" ideas from each other without giving credits and so on.
It´s up to everyone themservesto judge this as childish or narrow minded, but it´s the opinion of those devs themselves which finally counts in the end.
I personally had it seen coming. so many differenz people working on same or similar project. It has been a matter of time that some Devs cross their lines.
I would love to have them having shake hand and to combine their powers to create an even more powerful project, but those people seem to have to be some sort of lone wolf to be creative in that way.
Anyway we´ll see what happens. And I guess many more motivated devs coming when official sources from samsung will become available to devs.
That will massively push ICS developement further for our device.

I didn't had the time to follow the whole MIUI Revolution thread, so I won't defend anybody, but it's quite a bad news
The work done is/was truly amazing.
Livewings probably got upset by people asking question/ETA/stuff
Hope he or someone will continue the good work!
This seems to just hurt our development community. Bad news. I am using the MIUI ROM and now I am not sure we will be able to pursue development of this ROM. Bad bad bad news.

What a shame
But shouldn't the people participating in the thread be informed? I am not contesting the Mods actions here, it is their site and they could do anything they like, but it is minimum courtesy to inform the participants that it has been deleted for so-and-so reason.
This is hoping better sense prevails!
I don't understand this shot, why have they erased all of it? This shows the respect that the mods have to the Dev community

I think peeps need to chill abit its starting to get like an episode of eastenders in here
It is what it is. Mods have hard enough time keeping these forums clean i mean how many ics posts are closed daily how many non dev threads in dev section get placed all the time.
There are rules to avoid this if members could only be bothered to do a little reading first but peeps dont. Chas dyslexic thread was so true to the bone its scary and these peeps are flashing roms god help them
The devs try to push the boundaries all for your benefit. Why because you and i ask them to. No one here really cares who puts out the rom just as long as you can feed your addictions. Me included.
Ill always want to flash the latest and greatest and the only way to achieve this is competition by what ever means.
But remember no one can steal anything from anyone as it wasnt theres to own.

I have to admit. Everyday I used to visit a HD2 forum for a veery long time and everything was in order there. People used to obey the rules.
In GNote section there are a lot of newbies who don't even bother to get familiar with the xda's rules.

Seen like 5 different 4.4 kitkat ROMs for nexus

Soooooooooooooooooooo.......I am a patient person and I'm sorry I'm relying on others for this but w.e the point is every1 seems to be coming out with h multiple kitkat ROMs for certain devices...........maybe Devs should stop trying to produce an already produced ROM for devices like nexus, galaxy, htc and such and maybe focus on other devices........devices that actually NEED an update.......lik the NC? W.e I just see no interest in the nc on xda anymore. God I wsh I knew how to do this. Learn u say. Well that would take too long. On app, so not sure of the rules and where to post. But considering its dead most of the time lol hopefully I won't get banned. My point is its ridiculous considering the majority of people don't even have these hi end devices and I think its selfish for the focus to just be on these devices. Impo. Some1 start it up plz. And stop stalling.

And for the devs that the first thing out of there mouth is its so easy, build it yourself........wellllllll if its so easy then just do it and post it. Thousands if not mills use the ROMs. So feel free to continue to be selfish. Sry for the gruf. But it needed to be said.

It has been a long standing tradition in the nook color community to not release binary build of new android versions for a few months. This allows all the bugs to be worked out by the devs before anyone else has access. At least one person bricked their nook on the ics or jb alpha builds, so this tradition is to protect from that. This also encourages end users to get into the development scene. I myself am going to be building my own cm11 over Christmas break and am going to be building for my phone, all because of this tradition. So quit complaining that nobody gives you what you want and build it yourself. Who knows, maybe you will keep this device alive after all the other devs have left because you built cm11 yourself.

It is easy to compile cyanogenmod, but what stops you from doing it? For the first few months when a new rom comes out, the developers make it so only DEVELOPERS AND BUGTESTERS can have at it, and see what bugs there are, and what improvements they can add to the code. This is meant for the common user(YOU) to install the rom, and have no(maybe some) problems from when they first boot the rom. From then on more bug fixes are made, and the rom becomes stable for daily use. Experimental roms can be extremely dangerous, and can even brick an entire device(Anyone here remember the AOSP incident with Mateorod?)
And please next time you rant, try to use proper grammar, and using slang doesn't really help your point very much.

Learn i say, and do it yourself.
Why aren't you complaining to the manufacturer?
Why are you so demanding from people who are developing by hobby and they make their work available for free?
Try to answer these questions and then you will understand why people are saying to do it yourself.
Thread closed as it doesn't serve any real purpose rather than ranting about an area that you are not experienced with.

I would like to make a request for users of the HTC Desire 816

We appreciate the current developers that are working on getting LiquidSmooth and Cyanogenmod to run on our devices. Personally, I feel that if we had at least one or two developers who have done longtime/extensive work with Android devices; would make our little community an extremely happy bunch and help our current developers out extremely as there are a few hiccups that they are trying to sort themselves as dedicated devs.
I understand that everyone can be tied up on a consistent and heavy basis but if its not too much to ask from the community; I would like to request someone of higher knowledge in this to take a look at helping us get at least one fully functional AOSP/AOKP/CM/Para/Omni/Liquid etc. ROM of the latter on our devices or at least throw a few patches to the developers on our side.
We really appreciate the time and effort you all put into the work that you so heartfully give and put out there for us and we thank you sincerely.

This would be amazing, especially with the work on LiquidSmooth being halted, without a booting release, This phone is a "mid-range flagship" so I thought it would be a more popular device. :/

really im up for just about any thing my plan was to get the people who would be interested in a chat and then see what we could all agree on but yes custom rom was something i did have in mind.
I think that write here is better than chat because others devs can follows our ideas and maybe join to us. For organizzation stuff i agree that hangout is better.
I would like integrate to Stock ROM some CM/Omni features in a way close to Cataclysm do.

By stock you mean Aosp right? My idea start with aosp base and then just merged in features we want. I also want to provide a custom skin that would be unique to us. Also i said hangout so we dont have to wait a day between responses we can hash things out more quickly over hangouts then just update a thread as needed.
PS: looks like we got another person interested i asked him to post in this thread so we can have every one interested in one place
Hey guys hi
Well I assume I'm the other guy ? Hah well I'm interested in graphic designing and I'm sure I could help you guys out
I had the exact same idea
I was thinking AOSP base as well with merged from cool featues from custom roms buuuut as a twist a major visual overhaul maybe? Like change a bit in the ui rather than sticking to all the other lolllipop Roms I can't exactly help in developing the ROM ... But changing the stuff in ui and theming ... And graphic design ( wallpapers and other stuff) :good:
Hope to speak soon
Yes ur the other guy or the meat of the sandwich lol and its like you can read my mind its exactly what i want to do

Hey man, u still looking to put something together? I have lots of experience, java, c++, python, core android development, and have been a contributing member of XDA for years, I took a break for a while, as I was getting my bachelors degree in software development, but I'm looking to get back into something, and it's always easier with a team behind u, I wanna do something original, not a blatent copy of all these other ROMs out now, let me know if u want a solid asset to join the team...
