[ROM][LOLLIPOP][LB/UB][5.1.1] eXistenZ Premium | 7.0.0 | FINAL | 16/02 - Xperia Z2 Android Development

INTRODUCTION
Here's my latest rom based this time on Lollipop 5.1.1, I've called it eXistenZ Premium.
The main difference with the previous eXistenZ is that I've added many new features directly inside the settings, that means that you can choose what you want and apply it directly.
All these new features are coming from the best Custom rom available like CM12, BlissLP, Cataclysm, SlimLP, Disco, ...
So you have the perfect mix between stock Sony rom and all these one.
Other advantage is that you don't need to install Xposed to add new features, so you will have a better stability.

Install NUT dual recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606) or the recovery of your choice.
Reboot in recovery, Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik/ART Cache.
Flash the rom.

If no success, that means that one of your mods or Xposed module or application is causing issue.
How to avoid problems with Quick Toggles
A:
[*] Don't use too much Quick Toggles, add only the ones that you're using regularly.
[*] The first Notification must always be ABOVE the Navigation bar, if not you may have issue while expanding the panel. You have many way to do that, increase the number of tiles per row, do not enlarge the first rom, remove brightness slider, ...

Q: Heads Up isn't working or doesn't wotk for some applications.
A:
[*] Be sure that Heads Up in turned on in eXistenZ Heads Up & Notification settings.
[*] Heads Up is used by default only for the apps who have Heads Up set as prior option to display notifications inside there code. This is the case for apps like Conversations, Hangout, ...
If you want Heads Up notification for a particular application, go in eXistenZ/Heads Up & Notifications/Launcher Applications only (or All Applications), select the apps and activate "Force Heads Up".
This is like that and not the same as stock to allow Advanced Notifications managment
Q: I can't mount System partition to RW or delete system apps?
A: Set SELinux mode to permissive with pre-installed app SeLinuxModeChanger.
Q: Why haven't you added automatic theme accent coloring for Quick Toggles, Icons, ...?
A: There is an Hexadecimal color picker who is way more interesting and give you more personalization options.
If you want to find what's the HEXadecimal code used by the theme you are using to apply it, use an app called "Color Picker" available at Play Store.
Do a screenshot with the color you want and open it with Color Picker app, touch to find Hexadecimal code, paste that code with FF at the beginning.
So if the HEX code found by the app is 5e395a, paste that: FF5E395A
Q: Hey, that thing doesn't work!
A: Check if there isn't an (*) at the right of setting description, that means that you must restart SystemUI.
If it is not the case, try to enable/disable option a few time and reboot or read thread to find an answer.
Q: How can I have stock Sony's icons for Battery?
A: Go in settings/eXistenZ/Status Bar
Check "Sony's Battery Icon" and restart SystemUI (at bottom) then go in Battery Status and select Hidden as Indicator
Q: How can I have stock Sony's icons for Signal, Wifi, Battery and Stamina?
A: Go in system/vendor/overlay and delete SystemUI-Overlay-exz_statusbar_icons.apk
Q: How can I have reject by message option while receiving a call?
A: Go in system/vendor/overlay and delete InCallUI-Overlay-reject_msgs_drawer.apk
Q: Why the Quick Toggles animations are not working anymore?
A: Quick Toggles animations are only working in you are not coloring the icons, coloring engine isn't able to color animated images actually.
So to restore animations, turn off Custom color switch in settings/eXistenZ/Notification Panel/Display Options
Q: Double tap anywhere to sleep can't be turned off?
A: The switch in Lockscreen settings is only working when Double tap to sleep is turned off in Status Bar options.
Q: Volume to skip tracks doesn't seems to work?
A: Volume to skip tracks isn't working with Ambient Display On.
Q: What happend to Home launcher, no more Home drawer?
A: By default Modern layout is used, to restore old style, long press Home desktop, go in settings/Home Screen layout and select Classic.
Q: How can I restore stock Camera app?
A: Flash this: http://www.mediafire.com/download/827l2n12ty4ap30/Camera_stock.zip in recovery and wipe data of all camera apps in settings/app/all.

Art isn't all that I tried it on my phone got force closes. and if you YouTube the video for art vs dalvik the are just. .1 seconds away from each other. And are phone are still pretty good spec wise. It is mainly for mid range phones. +art is still in development. Enjoy dalvik until art becomes like JIT (android 2.2) and is nessarry

Hi I just wanted to say that I've run the rom properly. It's superb I changed the kernel for matr1x,but that's a personal choice, due to colours. Love the mix of stock and added choice. Plus you built in a lot of stuff I have to add normally, like bionic and X. Runs as smooth as can be.

You need to convert it to F2FS. It wont boot if you on f2fs based file system as its a xtn4 based ROM

I have applied settings through Xblast but it aint working.. Also rebooted,soft rebooted.. When I open the app the settings I chose are there but none working.. clean flash.. I am missing any step. ? TIA

INTRODUCTION
Here's my latest rom based this time on Lollipop, I've called it eXistenZ Y.
The main difference with the previous eXistenZ is that I've added many new features directly inside the settings, that means that you can choose what you want and apply it directly.
All these new features are coming from the best Custom rom available like CM12, BlissLP, Cataclysm, SlimLP, Disco, ...
So you have the perfect mix between stock Sony rom and all these one.
Other advantage is that you don't need to install Xposed to add new features, so you will have a better stability.

Q: Heads Up isn't working or doesn't wotk for some applications.
A:
[*] Be sure that Heads Up in turned on in eXistenZ Heads Up & Notification settings.
[*] Heads Up is used by default only for the apps who have Heads Up set as prior option to display notifications inside there code. This is the case for apps like Conversations, Hangout, ...
If you want Heads Up notification for a particular application, go in eXistenZ/Heads Up & Notifications/Launcher Applications only (or All Applications), select the apps and activate "Force Heads Up".
This is like that and not the same as stock to allow Advanced Notifications managment
Q: I can't mount System partition to RW or delete system apps?
A: Set SELinux mode to permissive with pre-installed app SeLinuxModeChanger.
Q: Why haven't you added automatic theme accent coloring for Quick Toggles, Icons, ...?
A: There is an Hexadecimal color picker who is way more interesting and give you more personalization options.
If you want to find what's the HEXadecimal code used by the theme you are using to apply it, use an app called "Color Picker" available at Play Store.
Do a screenshot with the color you want and open it with Color Picker app, touch to find Hexadecimal code, paste that code with FF at the beginning.
So if the HEX code found by the app is 5e395a, paste that: FF5E395A
Q: Hey, that thing doesn't work!
A: Check if there isn't an (*) at the right of setting description, that means that you must restart SystemUI.
If it is not the case, try to enable/disable option a few time and reboot or read thread to find an answer.
Q: How can I have stock Sony's icons for Battery?
A: Go in settings/eXistenZ/Status Bar
Check "Sony's Battery Icon" and restart SystemUI (at bottom) then go in Battery Status and select Hidden as Indicator
Q: How can I have stock Sony's icons for Signal, Wifi and Stamina?
A: Go in system/vendor/overlay and delete SystemUI-Overlay-exz_statusbar_icons.apk
Q: How can I have reject by message option while receiving a call?
A: Go in system/vendor/overlay and delete InCallUI-Overlay-reject_msgs_drawer.apk
Q: Why the Quick Toggles animations are not working anymore?
A: Quick Toggles animations are only working in you are not coloring the icons, coloring engine isn't able to color animated images actually.
So to restore animations, turn off Custom color switch in settings/eXistenZ/Notification Panel/Display Options
Q: Double tap anywhere to sleep can't be turned off?
A: The switch in Lockscreen settings is only working when Double tap to sleep is turned off in Status Bar options.

Rom Control Features
1.- Status bar Mods
a) Battery options:
You can choose between Stock Battery/3Minit Battery/Og Battery.
Toggles to Show/Hide. Show percentage on stock battery inside and outside. Change color of battery percentage.
b) Battery bar: Show/Hide battery bar on top of status bar, choose style, color, animation, etc
c) Custom status bar background color, change the background color of statusbar in apps.
d) Toggle to Double tap status bar to lock.
e) Clock mods (Potato). Choose status bar clock style, position, color, include date, am/pm, custom format, you can use clock with seconds, etc.
f) Traffic meter, you can set 4 different views for traffic metter (in/out traffic), and you can choose traffic possition (left or right).
g) Signal icon changer. 3 Different styles of signal icons to choose (Restart UI to changes take effect).
h) Signal position, to show the signal cluster on the left or the right.
i) Wifi icon changer, to change between big icon without arrows, or stock with arrows.
j) Carrier on status bar. Choose your custom carrier name,set color, toggle on/off.
k) Toggle to on/off ticker on status bar.

d) Change your toggles buttons background between 8 styles.
e) Toggle on/off, different elements on dropdown like, the "edit" text for toggles, the user icon.
f) On/Off memory cleaner button on dropdown. Select your desired color to match with your theme.
g) Choose your clock style, toggle between digital style or analog style.
h) Choose your dropdown date style. 4 different styles to choose.
i) Choose your custom carrier in dropdown panel or set it off.
j) Show or Hide CPU stats above the date in dropdown (Cpu in use and governor). Colorize both to much your theme.
k) Toggle to on/off custom background, to use an image on dropdown.
l) Quick panel visibility (the sfinder panel), and select between 3 styles: stock/6 keys/8 keys.
m) Set your notification brightness bar on/off
n) Toggle editor style of android 5.1.1 ported from the great darkera13 systemUI.
3.- General
a) Launcher changer: Select your launcher style between 4x5 grid or 5x5 drawer grid. You can also choose between launcher with badges support, or launcher with hidden settings support (more options, effects, etc). Disabled conflictive options with our device in hidden settings like blur effect/parallax/weather effect.
b) Build.prop changer: As i said in rom control app, Lockscreen effects will work just fine if you use the original s4 device name, but selecting it will result in loosing the widget of weather on lockscreen. so you have to choose what do you prefer. With s6 build.prop you can only use popping colors effect.
c) Keylayout changer: Select the layout you want, original s4/ or the s6 layout.
d) Emoji changer: Select the emoji style you prefer. (google/ios/lollipop/samsung)
e) wifi backup: from here, you can backup/restore your wpa wifi file with your saved pass.
f) Audio gain table: You can choose between 3 different values for your audio sound (High/stock/low)
g) System sounds on/off: enable / disable system sounds like boot sound/charging sound/ and volume bar sound.
4.- Lockscreen
a) On/off Quick unclock - when you set a pin number or pass you can unlock your phone without the need to press the "ok" button.
b) On/Off Lockscreen sound independent of system sound.
c) On/Off Lockscreen Rotation (restart UI to changes take effect).
d) Next alarm on lock. You can enable/disable the visibility of your next configurated alarm. Select the text color you prefer.
e) Device info on lockscreen and dropdown. Will show your phone's info (rom/phone model/android version/memory/battery) at the bottom. You can set it on/off and choose the color you prefer.
f) Custom lockscreen Font style, change between different fonts for the clock (10 styles).
g) Show/Hide camera icon button on lockscreen.
h) Show/Hide all info on lockscreen (all widgets and texts hidded).
i) Show/Hide date on lockscreen.
j) Show/Hide clock on lockscreen.
k) Show/Hide weather on lockscreen.
l) Change lockscreen clock size (2 styles)
m) Show/Hide low battery dialog from lockscreen.
n) Show/Hide charging dialog from lockscreen.
o) Show/Hide "swype to unlock text" dialog from lockscreen.
p) Lockscreen effects chooser. REMEMBER, use effects only if you choose s4 build prop. with the s6 build you can use only popping colors.
q) Ink effect,choose random ink effect or a solid color you prefer.
r) Custom carrier on lockscreen. Select the carrier you want.
s) On/Off charging effects, and select the one you like.

b) Home key long press function selectable.

I was going to download and flash the 4.6, but decided to do this as well. Upgraded to OH1 (was on OD2), then flashed this. Everything seemed to go well.
I use Freedom Pop.
Bug: When I take a picture, the thumbnail in lower right isn't being updated.
Other than make a call/txt and take a picture, I haven't done much yet.
I haven't flashed a ROM since my HTC Diamond, only doing this one because I wanted my daughter to have the newer features of the latest ROM. Freedom Pop doesn't update their stuff, so I did.
(Technically, Sac23 did, so thanks! )

Does anyone else have WiFi issues.

I was able to connect and use WiFi.
I have a L720 with OH1.

Wow Sac, What did you do. This rom is crazy. I could not believe the features of this rom just kept going and going and going in the op. You out did yourself Sac :good: Thank you for the fantastic support of the s4. Flashing now will report back soon.

WOOOOOOOOwww. This rom is insane. Everything working so far Wifi/lte/3g/Gps/Phone everything. Its the best rom ever put out for the S4 ever. Im shocked by how awesome this rom is Sac. You must have put in so many hours into this. It runs smooth and fast and has so many features im just starting to dig in. Ive tested all the essentials and they all work. Now im going to start testing the extra features.
Do not wait folks install this rom.

I'm thinking you have to be on OH1 or at least the OH1 modem for wifi to work. I' m still on OD1 and mine doesn't work. Looking for the OH1 modem and baseband now and will report back after I flash it.

Upgraded to PIE build 47.2.A.10.28 recently. (unrooted/locked)
For me, worst update ever UI wise.
Stupid, own fault.
Did no research before the update :facepalm: , and assumed dark-theme would come to all branded devices and was curious.
Appears it's only on Pixel and clean android one phones.
Thinking about downgrading to Oreo to get my Substratum and dark theme back. (did not needed root)
Doing some research here and there, reading that i have to backup my DRM keys to make sure the camera keeps working?

The camera should work without a drm backup if you just want to downgrade back to Oreo. It's the bootloader unlocking that wipes the keys and makes camera unusable in Oreo, but you can flash official firmware without unlocking.
The post you are linking to refers to proper rooting process, not downgrading without unlocking.
But if you want to try another ROM, then you should definitely back up the drm keys before unlocking. I just don't think there are a lot of options for this device on ROMs. Browse this device forum in xda and you might find one or two. I haven't tested anything else than official Sony ones.

Like I just said, you don't need to unlock to downgrade. You can flash any official Sony firmware for the device without unlocking bootloader.

See if i can find a step-by-step guide somewhere, def need some pointers.
Last time i flashed a rom was in 2015 somewhere.

really have to recommend rooting and using swift installer. plugging your phone in every time you want to update your apps/themes is no way to live, and having all your apps themed black with the same accent colour is a sublime integrated experience.

Yeah i saw that somewhere.
Substratum cost me some quite some time indeed. (even with backups)
But i took it for granted.
Nice to see there is a option to get this fixed.
Now have to find the right guides and docs.

Rooting is easy but you should first back up the drm keys, so start here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...devonly-exploits-temp-root-to-backup-t3795510
After you have backed up the keys, unlocked bootloader and restored keys, just install magisk either via flashing or with the prerooted kernel you linked. Anyway, the first thing to do is to BACK UP DRM KEYS.

I'm on oreo and have noticed many people disliking pie. This has made me cautious with upgrading my firmware lol. Why is that? Is it really that bad?

There's nothing really wrong about Pie, but some people find the small UI changes bad. I think that for example the volume key is much better with Pie as it changes media volume by default, but some wan't to easily adjust ringtone volume. No one else than you can tell if you like Oreo or Pie more.
You can always try to find the Oreo firmware of your customization, update to Pie and then downgrade back if you hate it. But you should note that downgrading will reset your userdata...

Rom is always based on latest Sony firmware.
