Verizon sm-t807v gets lollipop update - Galaxy Tab S General

Finally , downloaded, feels snappier

Did you update through Kies or OTA?

I upgraded both of my Verizon Tab S tablets a couple days ago.
Some observations on my experience with the update:
All the applications that had been "moved" to the SD card failed to operate. Even after moving the app back to the device they would crash on loading. The only fix was to uninstall and reinstall them. Not a big deal, but it was kind of a hassle to do that across all user profiles. Took several hours to get straightened out.
Microsoft OneDrive will no longer work for any user on the the tablet other than the one that installed it. All the other users get an "incompatible version" message upon launching. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix this. Microsoft claims to know about the issue.
The Tivo app no longer loads. Just crashes on launch. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix this. From what I've read, even doing a factory-data-reset will not restore this app's functionality. Considering that this was one of the motivations for buying the Tab S in the first place, and the fact that Tivo probably won't fix this for months, it is a little disappointing.
Other than those items, most everything else went fairly well.

I updated via Ota

A way to root this lollipop would be great.

Just updated mine. My antutu benchmark score went from 39600 with kitkat to 35400 with lolipop. Going g through it now as I just finished updating

i went through kies and it updated smoothly.
everything is much faster and snappier, but there's one issue -- mult window doesn't seem to be working?
ive tried bringing up the multi window tray from the right side, along with recent apps (dragging it from the list) to no avail.
anyone else having issues with multi windows after the lollipop update?

Gallery...what the hell happened?

I have a TouchPad using CM9 (I think one of the newer nightlies after the last stable, it's been a few weeks though). Everything has been working fine for a few weeks. Go to my home screen, and the wallpaper is missing (I use a live wallpaper that uses the Gallery to get a custom wallpaper, live wallpaper was working fine, but missing the background). Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the live wallpaper, nothing. Happened to check out the Gallery app, and it looks like all it has access to is my online Google account pics, nothing local on the "SD card".
I tried resetting permissions, wiping cache/Dalvik, deleting the Gallery4.apk and re-installing GApps...nothing. Gallery still only shows online pics. All other GApps appear to be working without any trouble, and I hadn't made any changes at all since my last CM9 re-flash.
Thoughts?
Gallery has always been buggy for me, i removed it altogether and use quickpic from the market instead, no problems.

Ok, fair enough. Screw you, Gallery!
Do you mean live wallpapers like multipic? You should get a pop up with different apps you can use to set where it gathers pics from, any apps where you can view pics, but even file managers should come up.

No, it's actually this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mx.livewallpaper.clock
The live wallpaper part is actually the clock, but you can set it to have no background, a solid color background, or a specific image from your device. Up until now, it used the Gallery app to browse the images and you could choose whatever, but I turned on the device and the home screen was black (clock was still there). I tried to reset it, but it wouldn't work. Then I tried to go to Gallery and found it could no longer browse my local device. That's when I figured out something was wrong.
I had a similar problem yesterday after flashing the latest nightly MX video player couldn't see me files which were there, I checked with file explorer. I finally got it to work by removing the tick from the box that said :
Respect.nomedia . I also saw something similar on one of the other forums rootzwiki or cyanogenmod but can't remember which.
:
For anyone who is unaware, Rom Manager's latest update has cause some issue with the nomedia file on the /sdcard where pictures are inaccessible through your native gallery application client. This happened to me earlier.

Solution, though temporary until the ClockworkMod Team releases a fix with the new update:
Uninstall the update for Rom Manager in your 'manage apps' in settings and/or install Quickpic from Google Play.

You didn't say anything about reflashing the ROM itself. Sometimes that's the only way I can get problems to sort out. FDR, format system, cache, install update, gapps, boot once, go back to cwr and fix permissions.

Ruh roh, looks like that could be possible. I'm pretty sure I set Rom Manager to allow auto-update...guess that's getting turned off...
Thanks for the update! I'll try this when I get home.
Ok, an update to what I did to fix it.
First, I applied the update to Rom Manager from Apex_Strider's post (thanks again!). I think this was the root of the problem, for sure. However, after applying it, Gallery still wouldn't read local images. I restarted the tablet and tried checking again, but still no good. I then re-installed the update APK one more time, and then ran Rom Manager and chose the "Fix Permissions" option. I went back in to Gallery, and once again it didn't look like it worked...but I just let it sit there for about 15-20 seconds, and finally the images on the device started to populate. Went back and re-configured the live wallpaper to use the local image files, and we're off to the races.
Thanks everyone for the ideas, and Apex_Strider for ultimately pointing me to the solution!

"Unfortunately, Messages has stopped."

I've been using jailbroken iOS for the past 4 years so this is my first Android device.
The first two weeks or so of having the device it was great but the past couple of days I get the alert "Unfortunately, Messages has stopped." when I try to open the messages app. The only way to get it working again is to reboot the phone.
I've tried clearing the data and caches for messgaes but it didn't work. Is this a common problem with an easy fix on Android devices?
Note: phone is completely stock.
Thanks for any help...

Maybe you could try using ChompSMS or GoSMS to see if the problem is still there ?
If it doesn't work, then I'm afraid you'll have to do a factory reset
Factory reset looks like ur only way if you've cleared data for messaging. If it happens after that then I'd be returning for warranty as it's most likely hardware issue.

No this isn't a hardware issue. Messaging doesn't talk to any hardware drivers directly just factory reset it. Seems to me that you have a corrupt sqlite database on your phone. I'm not sure but maybe try clearing data first of the phone app.

I also had tihs issue when I used Titanium backup to Freeze the system app called "BadgeProvider". After unfeezing, messaging worked OK. However you mention you have a stock ROM so this is unlikely to be your issue.
As mentioned by someone else, when I used stock SMS it errored all the time. using GoSMS or Handcent worked fine.

FB Quickview updated

I just noticed the FB Quickview app has been updated.
It now has a blue and white icon instead of the previous black and white one.
I still have the same problem as before. The first time you run it, it loads current notifications and messages.
But, then the notifications and messages never update on the watch.
You can have new FB notifications and message on your phone / FB account, but the watch never retrieves them or updates them on the watch app.
The notifications I can see are good. You can see pictures and you can even like posts.
But, I can only see the list that was there a few hours ago when I installed the app. Nothing since then.
Anyone get the app to work properly?
Works fine for me. The old version never displayed anything. The new version does (although seems a little slow at times). Wish it displayed more info though. It's useless showing exactly what Facebook notification show me anyway (which is limited in the same way)
Just updated I havent noticed anything new
Mine never shows anything at all. Nothing under notifications, friend requests, or messages.

Don't like the way this app needs to use accessability in order to push notifications. Turning this on usually screws other features up such as air view and causes stupid announcements like scan finished when turning wifi on.

AND...when you enable FBQuickview Accessibility the stock browser gives you an annoying play by play of everything it's doing..."page loading"..."page loaded". I'm pretty sure that to receive notifications you have to enable this. So after finding this out I decided that having the freedom to use the stock browser (because sometimes it's the one that I wish to use) without the play by play was more important to me than having this crappy app so I uninstalled it. Well, almost...now I have FBQuickview category stuck in my notification archives because it had received them. Because I uninstalled the app the actual notifications are gone, but the category is still there. I am currently trying different ways to get that to go away but I may just have to reset the Gear and re-set it all up again. Sure, it's not THAT big of a deal to have this legacy category there, but it just bugs me. And I'll never get the 45 minutes of my life back discovering that FBQuickview Accessibility was the culprit of the sudden an mysterious verbal browser feedback.
If I am wrong about needing to enable FBQ Accessibility and or if anyone knows what I can do to make that damn FBQ notification category go away...please let me know.
Isn't this app a bit redundant now that GM pushes all notifications to the watch?

Yeah, I think so...but I thought that it gave more info than the stock notification. Maybe I'm wrong. I was just so desperate to find any app that is worthwhile for the Gear. Pretty slim pickins so far. I'm really anxious for more development.
App has been updated. It now uses notification access rather than accessibility

It still has the same problem where it loads all notifications the first time you run it, but after that the notifications and messages never get updated on the Gear.

Hello! new here..
This app has worked pretty well so far, but today i rooted my Galaxy Gear and installed Nova Launcher.. now this app no longer pushes new notifications to the gear.. i have no idea what has happened, i uninstalled and re-installed the app, but at best all i can have it do is that initial load up of the latest notifications, messages or friend requests... but it does not push anything new. that happens. basically get the same as richlum above here by the sound of it.. i first thought it may be some issue with Nova Launcher, but i get the same with the stock launcher as well..

[ZIP] [Marshmallow] Google Dialer 2.32 + Google Contacts 1.3 (12/4)

Created a zip based entirely on spasticdroid's previous zip for Lollipop Google Dialer. Just updated the Dialer and Contact apks inside to the latest versions for Marsallow and also updated the frameworks file for them to function properly.
Same as his; you can either disable or completely delete the stock Dialer or Contacts or, if you prefer, you can have two different apps for Phone and Contacts.
[Important]After flashing, you must go into "settings > apps > gear icon (top right) > Default Apps > Phone App" and set the new Google Dialer as the default instead of previous Moto Dialer or the inCallUi will not function at all!![\Important]
Download links in the attachment. All credit to spasticdroid for doing the heavy lifting I just moved some files around.

You have to give the phone app permission to access location. Even though I keep my location on, I had to manually give it permission. It's one of the nuances of the Marshmallow app permissions.

Stock rooted MM here. Nearby places working for me.
Installed the zip, rebooted, renamed contacts and dials to .sav (just in case), rebooted again.
Was asked about permissions for both apps including "location based searching"
Changed the default app for phone to "phone"
Shows nearby places when I type "Pizza" in the search bar in the phone app.
Everything looks good except Im getting a message about voice mail stopping. I have Verizon Visual Voicemail app installed, so its not clear what is going on there.
Im running TruPureXMM 2.1
EDIT: Tried VVM and had to grant a bunch of permissions which should address the voice mail stopping message. How is VVM integrated into the dialer?
Edit
Cleared cache and data in the app and it now works.... Go figure. ?
*edit* this is a useless post my bad
Looks like this breaks the SafteyNet for Android Pay after I flash it.
Thanks, worked flawlessly.
Just an update to my previous reply.
Instead of flashing the zip, I moved the files into the proper folders under /system with RootExplorer. Also manually set the permissions on each file. After a reboot the Phone and Contacts app shows up in the app drawer, and I can proceed with disabling the moto equivalents. Everything seems to be working (including In-call UI), and SafteyNet still passes it's checks, so Android Pay should continue to work.
Not using AndroidPay so I can't speak for that, but I can say that after setting this as Default for Phone, clearing Data / Cache for both Contacts and Phone apps and setting permissions, this works flawlessly! Thank you so much!!!
