Android 5.1 Update for Galaxy Note 4 coming in Next 2 weeks! - Galaxy Note 4 General

Just found this . As always guys please take this with a grain of salt, who knows if the sources are reliable or not but it's always great to have some hope it's coming sooner rather than later.
http://www.geeksnack.com/2015/05/22...llipop-update-incoming-in-the-next-two-weeks/

The article is full of mistakes so it is unlikely to be true. Considering Samsung's history of delivering late updates we will probably wait forever

Sounds too good to be true, and we all know how that goes

according to this article we already have 5.0.2!! oh wait... we kind of... don't!

5.1 update possible for tmobile edition, but only after they release the note 5. Even than they'll make us wait a few more months because cmon there tmobile and they take forever.

I have high hopes but low expectations. Luckily 5.01 has been running fairly smoothly for me with AT&T. (knock on wood)

Thoughts about Google taking over Motorola Mobility

I hope I am just paranoid here but something popped in my head that made me wonder.
Isn't it awfully convenient that Motorola announces they are going to unlock boot loaders....then sell out to Google....what I see in the future is the boot loader for the x2, d3, dx, and so on remaining locked now. Google is going to say "we don't have the keys...Motorola didn't give em to us" and now Motorola doesn't have to stand up to their promise now that they are gone.
I hope not......but does anyone else see this happening?

Supposedly, Motorola Mobility is supposed to remain its own separate entity, just under Google's watchful eye. The deal isn't supposed to be final until the end of this year or beginning of next, so there's still plenty of time for Motorola to disappoint you on their own.

Who else ordered from B&H

I was one of the many people who ordered from B&H. Who else ordered? ( BTW I know there might be another thread but I am anxious due to the AUGUST 15 DATE )

I did, July 5th. No word yet, hope it's not Aug 15th! No tax and free shipping makes the $50 upgrade for 16gb seem not so bad
Yeah but with all this gamestop bs. It makes me wonder why Aug 15?

Yet another pointless shipping thread, nice. :highfive:
I too ordered from B&H...Sent a mail just a few minutes ago trying to get some info about the expexted availability date...

Relax, soon these threads will die, as the Nexus 7 finds it's way out on the market and becomes easily available
Ordered one from there as well, do yours say backordered?

Will they unlock?

It will interesting to see if HTC will provide access to the bootloader.
Honestly, if you root this device, it will be a decent phone. It has ver similar specs to the sensation, and for the price a rooted version will get you by for awhile.
Bootloader unlock? You bet, right through HTCDev. Now we wait for a custom recovery and root.

Thank god someone else actually had this phone other than me now. Got mine yesterday and you're the only other person I've seen post that has one.

I really hope this phone does well. I like the Note 2 and DNA, but heaven forbid if all the "cool" phones have to be the encroaching tablet size territory. With a custom recovery and root, I am seriously contemplating having the First be my main driver and sell of the Note 2 and Optimus G.
I got it because I had a nexus 4 but I was always shuffling it around because of the size plus the battery is garbage. This is so easy to use one handed and the battery lasts about 7 hours of screen on which is almost double what I got on the nexus. I just want root the stock ROM is working fine for me and I surprisingly like Facebook home so far and I didn't really use Facebook much before.

This strikes me as an ideal phone for CyanogenMod. If audio quality reviews come back positive, I might just buy.

Open betas for Nexus devices

Android 4.3 should have been revealed earlier in the year, and the last few months should have been betas for Nexus devices, available as full ROM images.
Result: Less running dodgy leaks, more stable end code, happier techy end users.
Apple do it to great effect, and I feel Google are missing a trick here.

I think the way Google sees it is this: from the release of a new version (nexus devices) until the release from OEM's (Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG etc) it is kinda like open beta, where a large userbase uses the new OS (bug smashing) and developers catch up with the new API. Maybe this is one reason nexus devices are somewhat considered developer phones.
You tell them Peter! Cuz you so crazy like that....

My source says 4.4.3 is vaporware and we're actually getting 4.4.3.1 instead and it comes with the ability to turn your toaster on

My source at Google told me that they decided to include more features than a normal point release in 4.4.3 and release it at I/O, giving them more time to work on the next major release, which they should have ready in the fall.
4.4.3.2.1...... Locked

If this doesn't come on May 23rd I'm holding you personally responsible for creating another rumor thread sir. -_-

Lock it before it spreads...
We've tried the 4.4.3 thread a few times already and they did not work due to large amounts of off-topic posts and general bickering. I know we're all excited for the next release (I am too) but these threads typically go bad fast.
When the next OTA, Factory Image, or code drop actually happens, we will allow a 4.4.x thread. Until then, threads like these will be closed.
Thanks for understanding.
