Help needed unlock - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

Hello
I have unlocked my s6 by using the metro pcs firmware upgrade method .
I have reflashed the t mobile deoxed version rom .
All was working fine until few hours ago when my phone stopped receiving network .
Reboot didnt work too until i switched on wifi back on .
Is it something to really worry about ?
One more queery: once i unlocked my phone does it mean its permanently unlocked to any network because right now im residing in asia .

I think both questions have the same answer, you can't use any other firmware other than metro pcs. I remember seeing that in a different thread. If you paid it off free and clear call tmobile and they should permanently unlock it for free. I think all you need is your imei or serial number.

So can i reflash the metro pcs firmware and still have the device unlocked ?
I have purchased the unlock code off one of the leading sites on web.

I called T-mobile and pestered the hell out of them and they in return pestered the hell out me, in the end I have an unlocked phone with no flashing this and that.

I can't give you a answer but why not call tmobile like ipaq_101 did? That way you don't need to care what firmware or rom your on, it will be universally unlocked. If long distance calling is a issue you can use the online help, just make sure the first rep you talk to knows you won't stop bothering them until it's unlocked.

Is it not possible to install a ROM and then, say, flash a MetroPCS modem or something? For the record, I'm in the same predicament; I'd like to flash a ROM, but am running stock MetroPCS firmware that allowed me to use an unlock code.

You can flash any compatible ROM. I Odin flashed the MetroPCS firmware only so that I could permanently unlock the SIM. (I found that the T-Mobile Device Unlock is buggy and not exactly permanent). Then I flashed the international "F" version of Alliance ROM along with UniKernel. Been working great!
As long as you don't ever flash a T-Mobile radio, you'll stay unlocked!

[TRIAL] T-Mobile S6 Permanent Unlock by Code

After doing some research and doing a little bit or reading, the HTC ONE M9 T-Mobile variant has the same unlocking issues as The T-Mobile S6 and S6 Edge where the software only allows for an unlock through the unlock app and will reject any unlock codes. However, flashing the International model's firmware will rid of this road block and allow for an unlock (HTC ONE M9). I wanted to try the same method with the Galaxy S6.
Wanted to ask if a brave soul who has rooted and flashed TWRP on their T-Mobile S6 could buy an unlock code, flash the XtreStoLite Pure Edition rom from the regular S6 forums and try unlocking the phone with the international rom on it. Again, this method worked with the TMobile HTC ONE M9 and will likely work for the S6. I would try it myself but I have the edge and we dont really have any ROMS at all.
Also a heads up, if you do try and it doesn't work, wait until the dev of XtreStoLite Pure Edition updates the rom to add back some important files. it may be missing some important system APk for the unlock just like its missing important APK that enables LTE
I was thinking this exact thing. I wonder if it will work...i mean if it worked on the HTC One M9, it should be the same in this situation. Also since its just a software thing, i wonder if there is a flag we can set to trick it into being unlocked as well. Thoughts?

Tried this already and it does *not* work.
All codes are unsuccessful with unlocks.
We need kernels!
Of course if I were in the market for the M9, I'd just buy it from ATT since its bootloader is unlockable from HTCDev. Or did they change that too?

Ktoonze posted a kernel yesterday - I have not tried flashing the International rom yet - someone said data is not working on it when flashed on N910t? but would love to try to unlock if data is working?
Yeah cant try this myself since the 925t doesn't have any custom roms yet. :-/.

Failed at writing NVRAM.
Tried the Xtrelite rom and did get prompted for code but the code (from cellunlocker.net) did not work.
I dunno, I have a new IMEI since I swapped for an edge. Just going to wait this out and see if it activates in two weeks once the "remorse period" passes.
Do you think it would have worked if you had used the same IMEI that you purchased the unlock code for???

Go to www.sammobile.com and download the latest firmware for metro pcs s6 (SM-G920T1) and that should work for you. according to sammobile tmobile and metro pcs received updated firmware on the same date. downloads on the site take quite some time though, just a FIY.

Once you unlock with the MetroPCS firmware, do not ever flash back to T-Mobile firmware, or you'll end up relocking it! You can flash any compatible ROM, just not the T-Mobile radio firmware. ROM'S never include the radio firmware, so you should be fine.

No, it's not that easy! You need a real unlock to make it permanent.
You just need to decide which route to take to unlock it.
I did the MetroPCS firmware and then traditional sim unlock, and then custom rom.

No, It's the low level firmware that's the key to the unlock.
MetroPCS firmware = traditional code unlock
T-Mobile firmware = proprietary device unlock
After you're unlocked, you can change the ROM all you want. It's the low level firmware that you must be careful with (mainly the radio).

Don't download and Odin flash the T-Mobile firmware or radio, and you'll have nothing to worry about!
Rooting is simple on an unlocked bootloader if you don't mind tripping knox.
1. Odin flash TWRP.
2. Boot straight into TWRP after Odin flashing (vol-up + home + power)
3. Flash SuperSU from TWRP
Done, profit!

MetroPCS, that's what I did and it worked fine if you flash the MetroPCS firmware.
I need to get my S6 to show the Tmobile Logo on bootup so I can Jump to the S7. I had flashed it to MetroPCs for the unlock. I thought if I went the Odin route and installed the Tmobile software it would change the bootup Logo but so far after running Odin it still boots up with MetroPCs.

Which MetroPCS firmware did you use and where did you get it from?
I have a SM_G920T on TMobile 5.1.1 Baseband G920TUVS3DOJC and I tried flashing the G920T1UVU2COF9 MetroPCS firmware from sammobile and I get a FAIL message on Odin.

I Odin'd the MetroPCS firmware (G920T1) a long time ago, and it was newer than the TMo firmware the device had on it at the time. I think you're failing to flash because the MetroPCS firmware you used 2COF9 is older than the Tmobile firmware 3DOJC you already have on it. That's my guess.

T-Mobile stock firmware on SM-G920T factory unlocked version

I recently purchased the G920T factory unlocked version on eBay, is it safe to Odin any T-Mobile stock firmware, any info will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Once you above a certain firmware you can't go back. What firmware you currently on?
It is currently on G920TUEU3COK1 can I Odin to the latest T-Mobile G920TUVS3DOJC I understand that I can't go back but is it safe and will it function normally, thanks for the reply.
i have this same question because from what ive read 3COK1 is for Cellular South (aka C Spire). while the 3DOJC is for Tmobile, both under the G920t firmware. are you also on tmobile network with this phone?
What are the benefits of flashing T-Mobile firmware on the USA factory unlocked phone? I have this phone on T-Mobile and wifi calling works. I also get great reception. I assume this phone will get Marshmallow months before T-Mobile releases their build

Are you getting LTE on it.
So I flashed the C Spire firmware and it asked for an unlock code. I flashed back to the original tmobile firmware and it is still locked although it was unlocked before, but the device unlock app says its ineligible for unlock now.
Anybody else encountered this?
Call t mobile customer service and ask them. They can adjust their servers and then the unlock app will work.

I'd advise that you dont.
To unlock it I had to flash back to the original tmobile rom. From the tmobile rom, the device unlock app failed in different ways.
After i called tmobile over and over I got it unlocked (like 2 hours of calling).
Hurts my heart to see all the tmobile bloat, especially when i dont even live in the US, but at least my phone works

Carrier unlock a G920T permanently

Hi guys,
I need some clarification re: carrier unlocking and how it works. I recently purchased a carrier unlocked G920T, and I was going to start messing with custom roms/kernels and other goodies. My question is: Will the phone revert back to being locked if I do a factory reset or if I unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
I'm not a T-Mobile user, so I can't get another unlock code from them.
Thanks!!
The G920T has a carrier unlocked version, which is probably the one you have, not the T-Mobile one. Even if it is, usually a carrier unlocked device will remain unlocked forever unless it was unlocked using a different or hacky method, then there is a possibility that it will relock
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
Yeahh go ahead, mess with it. when it is carrier unlocked, the software doesn't affect it, unless it is a hacky method like @serio22 said, but there isnt such hacky method for the GS6 so have fun.
If it is a G920T (the T means it's from T-Mobile), then carrier unlocking is not a guaranteed state. I paid T-Mobile the full price to get my GS6 and they "permanently" unlocked it. Then after a OTA software patch all of a sudden it locked itself again and I couldn't use my phone for 2 days while they tried to unlock it. T-Mobile's new device unlocking uses a new system which has the phone "phone home" to their servers to check if you're allowed to use it outside of their network. It happened again when I accepted the Android 5.1.1 OTA. So...beware of T-Mobile's not-very-permanent permanent carrier unlocking.
I am living in india..
My relatives brought me the t model ( i wanted f model instead of i sold in india for quicker updates but got t model...lol )
Anyways,
The moment i inserted my sim, it worked like a charm so its unlocked at the moment.
I dont know how they made payment their or how it was unlocked, but the way used must be legit coz its still stock at the moment without root / recovery etc. .
I read humo saying it can get locked again...
My main question, what are the odds of that happening?
Also since i live in india, i wont be able to contact t mobile via phone/walk in, are there ways i can get it unlocked again?
I dont have the bill too if it matters
i believe they have an app that unlock ur device since that is how i unlocked mine. if not u can try to contact customer service online since u r not in US.
With device unlock app , will i have to pay for unlock my s6 g920t or it'll unlock my device for free.
I have an unlocked s6 tmobile from usa, i heard the flashing stock rom will relock the device.
If the phone will relock then how can i unlock it again?
I'm not sure about flashing a stock ROM relocking the device. Mine re-locked when T-Mobile sent Android security patches. This week I did the Android 6.0 OTA update and it has remained unlocked.

Got it done remotely!
I have a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T) from T-Mobile. It was locked. But it has an "Unlock" app installed by default. I used it and phone was instantly unlocked! Fast, easy and free!
I used to live in the US for a year and bought a g920T. Since i had the requirements i Unlocked and came back to my country but because of a problem, I had to install a stock firmware and now the unlock is gone.
So i'm wondering, if someone with a unlocked phone made firmware backup, remove the IMEI, and send it online would it work? I mean, right now it works just fine, so i can backup my IMEI and ID and just restore it if needed.
Please help

Yes, you should be seeing a "enter code" sim lock screen. T-mobile uses a unlock app. if your phone was unlocked before on t-mobile it can be unlocked after you flash back to t-mobile firmware.(and may need to run the unlock app).
I have gone back and fort on 2 of my SM-G920T phones between t-mobile and other firmware including the metro PCS SM-G920T1 one so it should work to go back.
Sounds like you need to re-download the stock t-mobile firmware and flash in odin.

If it was unlocked before on t-mobile you should be good. most you would need to do is run the t-mobile unlock app. just make sure you have a twrp backup just in case you need to go back to the rom that is working.
