After you unlock the bootloader you can flash a custom recovery and that will allow you to root your current ROM, install custom ROMs, etc.

What were the steps you did after you unlocked the bootloader at HTCDEV.com?
What custom Recovery did you install?
At what point did it start constant reboots?

Yes, you can use GB custom ROMs, just don't try to go all the way back to Froyo.

im sorry if it has been asked before and i feel no ashamed to admit it im a noob. i took 2 to 3 days to unlock bootloader with the help "tpbklake" and this guide
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118187
. according to guide i can still install some custom roms without gaining s-off. so i decide to install my first custom rom. but again i stuck where to start, which one is better i dont want to install CM yet because it need s-off so may be after some time. i need some basic guide to install a rom like aokp jelly been or any other if i found it one
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115539
but download file is deleted and i couldn't see the guide line how to install it what are requirements like s-off or on. im googling from last 3 hours but no luck...i'll appreciate if some one help me please. regards
sorry for spelling mistake in topic
ur s-on right??
if u want to flash a rom, after flashing the rom u have to flash the boot.img( included in rom zip) manualy, u must go to bootloader and run fastboot, then type fastboot flash boot boot.img from cmd

I have never seen a CM ROM requiring S-OFF. They say S-OFF but the only true S-OFF ROMs ive seen are ARHD, The Second Sun, and MAYBE the stock one made by tpbklake.

Yes. The is the reason that having S-OFF is a big deal. When you are S-OFF, you simply need to flash a new ROM in CWM/4EXT and then you are ready to go.

[Q] Rooting Hboot 1.57.0000

Hey guys,
Im new to HTC One. I have Tmobile version running on stock sense 6. I wanted to install a custom stock rom without the Tmobile Bloatware.
I know how to unlock the bootloader using HTC Dev method and install recovery to root. But i am a bit confused about S-Off. I have read that S-off will not work with Hboot 1.57.0000
So my questions are
1. Do i really have to S-off to install custom roms on HTC?
2. If not can i install ROMs for the int. version on my phone ?
3. Does the CID ver/number have anything to do with unlocking and rooting?
Thanks in advance.
1 No
2 Yes
3 No
If any time after install custom Rom you need revert back to Stock Rom for Warranty purposes you need S Off
You can s off with 1.57 if you need to. If Firewater doesn't work sunshine will but it'll cost u $25

Thank you for the reply. I have successfully rooted my stock rom and installed CWM recovery. And i have flashed custom kernel too.
I would now like to flash a 4.4.3 sense custom rom. I have read on some threads that the kernel wont be flashed on S-on devices. So do i have to flash a custom rom always after flashing a custom rom?
And one more thing. I currently have CWM touch recovery. I have seen lot of roms require TWRP. So my question is does the recovery image depend on the HTC variant? I have a Tmobile M7UL

Correct your Q
you don't need always flash custom kernel See requirement of kernel for custom ROM at their post
custom kernel don't need S Off ( it can be flashed with S On and it HELPS GETTING S Off)
S On wont let you flash Lower firmware or kernel then present now. see bootloader screen for that

yes You can flash any firmware same or higher version
TWRP 2.7.1.1 I not tried till but 2.6.3.3/4 is perfect
If only you could root your phone without having to unlock your bootloader so that you could know whether you can S-OFF or not.

I have unlocked my bootloader, will I still be able to get OTA Uppdates ?
OTA update don't rely on unlocked or relocked bootloader (there is no need to relock bootloader) ... as long as you have pure stock ROM (no files removed or modified) and a matching stock recovery ... no problem to get OTA updates
