i just tried with wp recovery tool but it showing me the wp8 firmware instead of wp8.1...

What is your product code?
Download this FFU file. This FFU file matches to the 059V4T8 RM-998 VAR IMEA IN CV in FW version 3058.50000.1425.0003. Once downloaded, follow this tutorial (you can skip the "Download of the ROM" part)
This one is Denim software, had it on my forum long time already. Latest one from December 2014

I need an old if possible first, firmware for Nokia 525... actually I purchased replacement Digitizer (non-genuine) for it (a nokia 520 digitizer which also work on 525) but I is not working properly, i replaced it twice..... I read somewhere that the old firmware of nokia 525 work with non-genuine digitizers .... but cant get it anywhere.... actually the lower half of digitizer is not responding properly to touch... I tried two different digitizers...

Simply you can follow the instructions here. The video is outdated so few stuff are changed on Microsoft's websites but you should adapt common sense.

The version of the SDK I downloaded is saying I need to have Windows 8 as my OS to install. Is that the case for all versions of the SDK or have I somehow downloaded the wrong one?

Are you able to unlock it? Have you tried the cell unlocker, it always shows 5.99 I am not able to trust that.

Basicly it doesn matter witch one you choose.
As long it has the same " rm number" for example RM 1045.
Language and country is less important because you can always change that in the settings.
Needless to say that this proces completely whipes your phone.

Take a look at this and scan down the list to see which country has the Denim update for the 930. It's separated by regions of the world. All 930 are the same model worldwide RM-1045. The list gets updated frequently with the Denim roll-out.

This link was already provided to you. It has all the product codes for each operator and country. Ideally look for CV variants,otherwise known as country variants. They are like SIM free firmware without carrier add-ons.

As a last thought. If you flash a firmware from a different country,it will initially take you through the phone setup in that country's language. Once you're done you can go into settings and change it. If you monitor the Denim roll-out,perhaps you'll just wait for it to come through as an OTA update on your current firmware.

I've read somewhere in the forums that this can be done by changing some files in the roms, but I wouldn't recommend it, it's different hardware...
The RM-940(AT&T) has little components that make the difference against the 937(Global). IDK if it will be some diffs for the 938 and 937.

What ROM did you put in the RM-940?
i have a probleme in my lumia 1520 sadly the Nokia Camera App does not work anymore. When i touch the app, the app just reverts to the main windows tile again. or Still in black screen or the phone stuck in Camera and roboting but in most of time they give black screen in back camera

Windows phone 10 aka windows 10 mobile, in not yet relased, only as a developer previev to test via windows insider. Of course you will get this update as long as is avaiable, because you also have an expensive lumia device. Even my lumia 630 will get W 10 mobile.

The only things that can be updated are software version and firmware version. Hardware version is related to hardware revision.... A new version of this means things changed on device's circuit board.
Same problem here..I bought my new Nokia Lumia 1520,because I want huge screen with nice camera..but everytime I will open the Lumia camera it will go back to main screen..I've tried to uninstall and reinstall but still same..can anybody help me please.. I have tried apple,Samsung and LG, I bought this because of power specs plus big screen..
I'm becoming Impatient about the camera..huh!
