[How to] Change CSC code for G900H - Galaxy S 5 General

Please note that I held no responsibility if you damage your phone, brick it or anything! This was made based on my own experience.
Hi, just thought I share my experience in changing CSC code. Initially I purchased my S5 with XSE (Indonesian) CSC code. Not having the patient for lollipop, I flashed Kazakhastan ROM and my CSC code changed to SKZ. After several months, samsung decided to release lollipop for XSE region and I flashed to it but was stuck with XXV (Vietnam). Not sure what happened but it seems that it takes the first code in the multi-CSC rom. Anyway this had me frustrated for a couple of months. So without further ado, here is the steps:
1. Download requirements:
-Download the BOC3 indian ROM: G900HXXU1BOC3_G900HODD1BOC3_G900HXXU1BOAD_HOME.tar.md5 (must be this ROM - this rom allows change CSC code without root)
-Download your country ROM (for my example is G900HXXU1BOD3_G900HOLB1BOD1_G900HXXU1BOCA_HOME.tar.md5)
-Download and install Cygwin - or any app which can modify .tar files, but lets use Cygwin for this case
-Download and install Odin 3.09 or higher (to flash ROMs)
2. Flash the indian ROM (G900HXXU1BOC3_G900HODD1BOC3_G900HXXU1BOAD_HOME.tar.md5) to your device
3. While waiting for the ROM to flash, open your country rom, remove .md5 at the end so the name will be from G900HXXU1BOD3_G900HOLB1BOD1_G900HXXU1BOCA_HOME.tar.md5 to G900HXXU1BOD3_G900HOLB1BOD1_G900HXXU1BOCA_HOME.tar
4. Open the G900HXXU1BOD3_G900HOLB1BOD1_G900HXXU1BOCA_HOME.tar with winzip or winrar, extract cache.img and hidder.img and place in home folder of Cygwin
5. Open cygwin and type the following:
tar -H ustar -cf csc.tar cache.img hidden.img
6. Test the indian rom, open dialer and type *#272*your-imei-number# - a selection of CSC should appear meaning that the ROM can change CSC without root
7. Flash in Odin, put the csc.tar in CSC and flash - this will not trip knox - I have tried this myself
8. Boot your phone, open dialer and type *#272*your-imei-number# - from here more codes should appear including the ones included in the csc.tar file
9. Select your country code (in this case I selected XSE) and it will automatically reboot
10. Shut down and check your CSC in bootloader (hold power + up + home) it should be correct now
11. Flash your country rom, clear cache and everything and voila!
Please also note that this guide should work on other devices as long as the device has a rom with *#272*your-imei-number# enabled without root
Hope this helps!

Problem rooting + CWM recovery Galaxy note

Hey guys, m sorry to bug you wid this query but this is my first post.
i was on the official ICS for india which was rooted using Dr. ketans guide.
All was working good till i saw the PARANOID ROm and i wanted to install it.
so i downloaded N7000DDLC1_N7000ODDLC1_INU and installed it with ODIN and then did a wipe factory data and wipe cache.
Now my phone shows the following settings in the about phone menu:
Baseband : N7000DDLC1
Kernel Version : [email protected]#2
Build number : GINGERBREAD.DDLC1
please can someone guide me on how to root it and install CWM recovery so i can flash the PARANOID ROM.
please guys...will appreciate ur quick reply.
Method 1 : Easy Rooting Toolkit [v1.0](zergRush Exploit) with newest zergRush binary , and newer superuser file. (WINDOWS ONLY) WILL WORK ON BOTH LOCKED & UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER DEVICES! just download the attached file, extract it using winzip/winrargo to the folder where its extracted and execute "RUNME.bat"
read and follow the instructions on the screen! Download here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=841876&d=1325678726 .method 2.cwm recovery . 1. Initial CFroot flasher 2. Two other folder having zImage file , you need one only
Which file do I use ? Listen closely, for I will say zis only once! Go to Settings -> About phone -> Kernel Version. Note the string present there: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKJ4-CL641703 What matters most (KJ4) in this case, is in bold. Try to find the matching file e.g. CF-Root-SGN_XX_XEN_KJ4-v5.0-CWM4.zip)so choose accordingly- Place the zImage file accordingly in folder 1.initial CFroot flasher /zImage folder- Start "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions If you are Rooted already OR - Start "not-rooted-yet.bat" and follow the instructions.
Note : Just below this, where you download actual flash programme, that includes initial CF root as well i have already placed zimage accordingly. I am Already Rooted - Execute "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions
I am Non-rooted - Execute "not-rooted-yet.bat" and follow the instructions... you need to firmware downgrade : http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/. Use to rom gingerbread 2.3.6 after you have downloaded the firmware, for the flash use odin 1.85 click here : http://www.mediafire.com/?36mcl2rs5gwrvsj ... and why 'your firmware is not rootable. Which kernel You have?
(Go to Settings -> About phone -> Kernel Version. Note the string present there: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKJ4-CL641703 Here Red is kernel version)

Upgrade 5.1.1 to 7.0 Failed

Hi all,
I was upgrading my S6A 5.1.1 to 7.0 but it causes the problems in Options 3. And then my phone was getting "dm-verity verification failed...". I tried to repair by creating the TAG MD5 CSC file as the guide (version 5.1.1 AP file, I got only one file in this zip). I used ODIN to flash (pick one AP file and one CSC file) and pressed "Start" button to fix but it got the problem "Failed" red status with "All threads completes.(succeed 0/ failed 1). I tried to many times to resolve by this way (pick one AP file, or one CSC file, or both) but it didn't work. I don't know the correct way to fix that by ODIN, anyone can help me, please. I assumed my phone didn't have enough space to downloading file (~1.5 Gb remaining). Besides, I have created the Smart Switch backup but i don't know how to use
Thanks.
del
The fastest way to upgrade the firmware is to flash v12 with Odin (Option 2) and then sideload v12 to v13, then v13 to v14_beta1 (Option 3).
Now about the "dm-verity" problem. When you create the new CSC file you have to flash it with the rest of the firmware files. All of them, but you use the new CSC instead of the old one.
Also, don't use the v3 (5.1.1) firmware files from Option 2. Go with v12 (6.0.1) files directly (again from Option 2 of course)

In the OP I had the ADB_Root_G930U_QE2Files.zip linked to the ADB_Root_G935U_QE2Files.zip zip so please make sure you have the ADB_Root_G930U_QE2Files.zip when downloading. Its fixed in the OP now so just double check
I recommend everyone put the Flashfire AP zip and Rom Zip on your internal storage as the AP file is so large that it may not be read properly do too limitations of some SD Cards. When you select AP file in Firmware there should be 4 partitions that are selected. If not then you have a bad download or need to have AP file on internal storage
Thanks for all your hard work . I just installed this so far so good but I am missing Wi-Fi calling. Is that normal or am I just not looking in the correct place? Thanks

Ok will try that when I get a chance. Thanks again.
Thx for an awesome rom.
Sorry if this question is asked before but couldn't find a solution (checked Verizon thread as well).
I am running Playstore version ROM and everything is working fine except Video Recording.
Photo is fine but when I record a video with included Camera NX, it only plays sound and the screen is either still or black.
I have been taking a needed break. I will update all my s7 roms including this one in the next few days
Nice
That rom can flash for g930p? tks your work!!
@jrkruse
Thanks for all your contributions to this device. I just bought this device and I've been diving through the forums trying to gather as much info on this locked down device.
Could you provide me with just the boot images that don't check the system image and from what model/rom are they from?
Oh and could you provide the partitions locations? The latest roms have an updated Knox that blocks SU from doing it's thing and I have to perform everything via adb (eng boot).
Blank screen
Hello,
I am on your custom rom and the phone was working fine for a day. After I restarted the phone I am not able to see the lockscreen. Its just blank. I do hear the sound of taking a screenshot when I press the buttons and I also can see the " shut down, restart, emg mode" buttons when I hold the power button but no lockscreen. I tried running the recovery boot img but nothing changed.
There is some kind of issue at the locksceen after a restart.
I'm Stuck

I followed the directions up to Step 7.
For the life of me I can not get the AP file to copy to my SD card. Yes I have enough space on it and I can get the ROM copied.
I tried copying the AP file with a file explorer, on my PC, external card reader. Every time I try, it gets to about 95-99% and says "copy failed".
I know it says flashfire only, but is that my only option?

In my case I created a folder named Download in Internal Storage and copied Zip and AP files there. I didn't have trouble coping files there.
From my experience & guess, you may still have old files & settings even though you flashed U-firm files Step 1-2.
Try to access recovery mode and do factory reset and see if this helps. Make sure you backup all important files to External SD because it will factory reset.
So I rooted my phone using Araltd's guide in this forum. I've got a couple of questions about this rom...
1. If I were to flash this rom to my device, would it remove my root access?
2. What's device performance like? After rooting, my device is very slow and buggy. Will this fix that?
3. Will my device still be full of T-Mobile's bloatware?
Thanks!

1. Yes, it will remove Root Access but you can still use ADB to do root stuff like push / pull files.
2. Since it will use stock boot instead of ENG boot, it will fix the lag issue.
3. This is U (universal) firmware so it won't have Tmobile bloat but it will have Samsung bloat/apps. During the install you can also choose de-bloat level too. From my experience BS-Free (2nd one), is both lightweight and stable. If you go with Playstore level (most lightweight, replace Samsung Apps with Google ones), you will have trouble with camera.

The QF6 ROM you mentioned is T-mobile firmware so it will have Tmobile apps. Most of them can be removed from ROM install or disabled after.
Other than that there's no performance difference.
If you want Tmobile like environment with Tmobile update schedule, go with T-mobile one. If you want less carrier apps, go with U-Firmware one.
I will no longer be updating my s7 threads until the time Oreo is released with root method. For now I have worked with @stang5litre to bring my non-root method to his amazing rom. He currently has a nougat release found here http://stang5litre-roms.proboards.com/

If you at any point tried to root it or flashed the modified boot image then you are no longer passing the safteynet checks, my suggestion is to do a clean install and see if it works then try it again making sure you don't root after you are done installing this rom.

1.- Download Odin 3.13.1 + Samsung USB Driver
2.- Extract the firmware file you just downloaded. You should get 5 files:
- AP (System &Recovery)
- BL (Bootloader)
- CP (Modem / Radio)
- CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
- HOME_CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
3.- Add each file to it's respective field in Odin v3.13.1. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.
4.- Reboot your phone in Download / Odin mode with the following button combo: POWER + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Other options in case first option did not work or isn't possible.
- Option 2 VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP than USB cable
- Option 3 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP
- Option 4 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTON
5.- Once in download mode, connect your phone to the PC, preferably using the original USB cable you got with your phone. Odin should detect your device and a BLUE box will show up with the COM port number. (Be sure, the SAMSUNG-drivers are installed on your PC!)

I have same CSC: BRD1 but firmware is from other country, security patch: 01/abril.
Do you think that can I install TWRP and root it using these files with no need to flash the firmware TTT?
EDIT. It´s done, it worked for me Odin v.3.12.5 and flashed No-verity and Magisk via ADB sideload

Here is it, install the 3.2.3 version. But please, speak in english here,it is against the rules to use another language as only a small number of people will understand and be able to help.
Is the bootloader necessary?

I know this post is old but I am having some troubles with my j7 prime g610m. I think the solution is about this "No-verity". Let me explain : I have installed Oreo ROM, Binary 7 some days ago. Then, installed TWRP but this one never shows my internal storage files. It shows "0mb" when I select storage button. I have already done the "format data", change file system, which I've seen on others websites and tutorials. But reading this post I've found something new for me. This file "no-verity" is the solution? I have to flash it, right? To solve this problem... My question is : HOW DO I FLASH IT if my TWRP shows nothing of my files. I read you flashed it via ADB Sideload. Could you please teach me how to it? I'll thank you so much! :fingers-crossed:

Sorry for delay, it's really a very old post that I don't remember exactly the issue with TWRP.
Install this universal ADB drivers onto your Windows PC https://adb.clockworkmod.com/ then connect your device power on to the PC, and see if it's properly recogniced typing
Code:
adb devices
if yes then you can continue, type:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
to reboot to TWRP, then place the zip that you want to flash onto your device either DM verity or Magisk in the same folder where ADB was installed, usually on your main drive (this just to avoid paths input) go to Advanced settings in TWRP and search for ADB Sideload feature, swipe from your device to start it and in your ADB/fastboot terminal type:
Code:
adb sideload name-of-your-file.zip
to sideload it to your device and it's all. (replace name-of-your-file.zip with the name of the file that you'll go to flash keeping the .zip extension)

[Guide] Update Rooted Note FE from Nougat to Oreo

share my process and trouble shooting for upgrading rooted note fe from nougat to oreo without re-install. I eventually got a solution
my nougat installation had data encryption enabled during setup, not sure if it made difference, or the cause of my trouble below.
the process references the post [SM-N935F/DS] How to flash TWRP & Root with Magisk (Int. Ver.) [Oreo Updated] and mostly used files provided there.
start with rooted nougat with TWRP
1. download latest OREO ROM from sammobile. Mine has CSC code XME
2. unzip to five .tar.md5 files
3. flash BL/AP/CP/HOME_CSC via Odin, turn off auto-reboot
4. exist download, and re-enter download immediately without letting it to boot up (press home+volume down+power immediately)
5. flash TWRP in odin
6. reboot into recovery
7. install in TWRP RMM-path
8. install in TWRP no-verty-opt-encrypt. This is required for me as my data is encrypted
9. reboot and let android complete the update process
--- note, I did not install the /data partition patch mentioned in original thread for OREO, as it led to boot loop and I had to re-flash stock rom --
10. reboot back to TWRP and install magisk to root
This should be it. BUT --
system boots up ok, but I noticed that CSC was not installed. there is not even /system/csc folder. somehow, the csc was not installed during the installation process. I tried multiple time, same results. here is how I got over it
1. from stock rom 's HOME_CSC_xxx.tar.md5 file, remove ".md5" to turn it to a tar file, and use 7zip to unzip it and take cache.img.lz4
2. use lz4 tool to covert cache.img.lz4 to cache.img
3. use SVAImgUnpack to covert cache.img to cache.ext4.img
4. use ext2explore.exe included in SVAImgUnpack to open cache.ext4.img and extract the sec_csc.img (ext2explorer.exe needs to run with admin)
5. use TWRP to install the extracted sec_csc.img
6. open a terminal in TWRP or use adb shell to run the following command cp -dpfr /system/csc/XME/system/* /system
that is it. and it should work.
If you need to enable VoLTE for Verizon or T-Mobile. extract customer.xml file from Galaxy S8 rom CSC's VZW or TMB folder, and copy it to overwrite customer.xml file under /system/csc.
Thx For informations This phones community is quiet silent :/
