[Trailblazer101][ROM][6/7][OE2] LightlyCleaned/Rooted ROM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

LightlyCleaned/Rooted ROM - OE2
How's it going guys! Since no one else has released a ROM yet for OE2 I'd release what I made for myself This is lightly cleaned, removing what I found to be unnecessary.
PLEASE READ!
You're going to have to be on OC3 right now to flash this, since OE2 itself doesn't have root yet! You can be deodexed/odexed, running a custom ROM, whatever, it'll work. HOWEVER, you will need to flash an additional package with ODIN or whatever tool you use, since the modem/recovery/boot(/kernel)/cm/sboot was updated. You can't use FlashFire for this right now, since it does not detect the cm/sboot files within the package, and they need to be updated for the phone to boot. I tried updating them with a zip package, however it didn't stick. So alas, ODIN it is, for now... So, flash this before booting into the ROM for the first time, by holding down Power + Home + Volume Down until you see the Download Screen. Let go, then press Volume Up. Flash accordingly, making sure to put the *.tar package in the AP section..
This allows you to be on OE2, and maintain root
I'm not responsible if anything bad happens.
Quick Step-By-Step: 1. Flash the ROM using FlashFire. Then immediately after it is done... 2. Flash the TAR package using ODIN 3. Party
HINT (thanks @coton!): You can change the Reboot Settings within FlashFire so that once it's done doing its thing, it can automatically reboot into download mode Just select my package in "Flash ZIP or OTA", then once configured at the bottom click "Reboot". Select "Download" and you are good to go!

So does this still make us lose root? But prior to flashing you've cleaned it a bit?

Nice! How'd you manage that without an updated version of pingpong? So this essentially gives us the OTA update with root?

Which odin version do you use on the s6?

Here's a long answer, for ya I started on a OC3 rooted ROM. I modified the OE3 update package to allow flashing this on a rooted build. Flashed it, then extracted the new system files (as they were now patched/updated). I manually patched the boot.img and modem.bin files by placing the originals from the OC3 ODIN package, and running "applypatch" on them with the patch provided from the update package. Patching the recovery was more tricky, because of the way the update package was set up. So I had to use the included sh script to patch and install the latest recovery, and then extract it using adb shell and "cat ....". I had to open that pulled recovery then in a hex editor because it included a lot of empty space at the end. After that, I confirmed the sha1 matched what it was supposed to be as mentioned in the updater-script from the official package, and it did!

Why are you re-uploading the downloads, is there a problem with the previous ones, as I just flashed the odexed rom, then odined the update tar, and have just booted up, everything seems fine so far.

he is using a different server, he had loaded the file to his dropbox but it looks like that server isn't going to work. I was able to download the package from his dropbox though .... You are correct, DropBox shuts off your Public links if they get too much attention. and since you guys went ham, rightfully so (lol), they shut me down. So Mega it is, and we're half way there! Also I'm glad to hear it worked for those of you who were able to download it before!
oh and @2swizzle I'm guessing your referring to being able to have the 'feeds' while the screen is on? I've looked into it, and there was a lot of code removed that enabled that from the Note Edge to our phones-- the framework classes that incorporated it are basically stubs now. Although I could try adding it back in, in my personal opinion it'll be kind of... eh. it's not like the Note Edge where because of the more distinct curves it feels like a separate screen, of sorts, and it kind of just works. But with the S6 Edge since it's not as pronounced, it'd be more intrusive, make the aspect ratio weird, and decrease the amount of available screen size, when some already consider what we have is small, when comparing to the phablets of increasing popularity.

Working great so far, haven't found a single bug.
For those of you who haven't downloaded yet, I noticed that with FlashFire when you set it up to flash the rom, you can set the reboot option to go directly to download mode so you're ready for the odin update.

@coton you sir/mam are a terrific human being. I forgot to mention that great little trick on the OP, I'll update it immediately! Thank you!

[HOW TO] (GT-P3XXX) Get ANY Official Samsung Firmware without a Computer

Disclaimer: You are not a robot. You are capable of making your own decisions. Anything you choose do to your device is your business, so anything that may happen (lost data, bricking your device, zombie apocalypse) during this process is no fault of anyone but you.
Prerequisites: Your device must be rooted with a STOCK Samsung ROM specific to the Galaxy Tab 2 7". I have tried this on my GT-P3113 and have successfully flashed it's official firmware, the P3110 JB 4.1.2 firmware for Hong Kong and Croatia models, and the P3100 JB 4.1.2 firmware for Hong Kong. So, my point is THIS SHOULD WORK FOR ALL GALAXY TAB MODELS.
This will tell you how to install ANY Samsung Updated firmware made for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 without a computer. BE SMART, meaning only flash the firmware that is compatible with your device!!!
Before you do anything, backup your device!!
FIRST: Do the following to get all the tools required to do this:
1. Download the following files to your SD Card:
__A. Download the official update from here . On this page in the left column, there is a dropdown menu. Choose the device you are looking for to get the list of available firmware you can download.
There is a known issue with downloading from this site and getting the file to fully download. Suggestions to make it work: try a different browser.
__B. Download from here:
____a. Mobile ODIN Lite apk from the first post and hit "thanks"
____b. MobileODIN_FlashKernel_P31xx-v2.0.apk from the fifth post and hit "thanks"
__C. Download CWM-SuperSU.zip from here and hit "thanks"
2. Install ZArchiver from the Play Store (or anything else that can de-compress a .tar file)
3. Not required, but strongly recommended to read the info on the Mobile Odin Thread. (you can do this while you wait for stuff to download)
SECOND: Do the following to get ready to perform update:
1. Using ZArchiver (or any other app you use to manage files), extract (unzip) the file you downloaded in step 1 A. Then change the filename extention from "xxxxx.tar.md5" to just "xxxxx.tar".
2. Using ZArchiver (or whatever you downloaded) extract (unzip) the file you just renamed.
3. Install the Mobile Odin Lite apk. Don't open yet.
4. Install the MobileODIN_FlashKernel apk.
5. Ensure your battery is GREATER than 50%.
THIRD: Procedure:
1. Open Mobile Odin light, and do the following:
__A. Choose "Open file..." from the list
__B. Navigate to, and choose the update file (the one you renamed to a .tar file and then unzipped) and select it.
__C. Choose "OK"
__D. Select "Recovery" from the list. On the pop up window that comes, choose "clear".
__E. Now, choose "Flash firmware" from the list and accept any prompts that come up.
- - - Your device will reboot and Mobile Odin will do it's thing- - -
2. In recovery, it may ask you to "Install untrusted zip". Do it.
----- SO FAR you have done nothing to lose user data. HOWEVER, if you are flashing a firmware not specific to your device (in other words, if you have a GT-P3113 and are flashing firmware for a P3110 or P3100), I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET, at this point.
3. In recovery, install the SuperSU zip you downloaded.
4. Reboot your device.
And it really is that easy. Once you reboot, you may need to make a few changes if you are flashing firmware for a model from a different region than you are in. Language, keyboard, etc...
Good Luck!!!
Or you could just use software update on the Tab since the update is now an OTA as well.

That will not really work with everyone. Samsung Software Update knows I modified my tab, so it will not even seach for an update and tells me why. If you are unrooted, rooted in a manner that did not advance the flash counter, or use the "Traingle Away" app, then yes, you could just do it with the on board update feature. However, using this way you can easily upgrade to the latest official software and keep root.
Official update removes su binaries and overwrites the custom recovery with stock. So, superuser and supersu become useless and you can't flash a custom recovery without su/root. To get that back requires a computer.

Opening post, third section step 1 D: you remove the recovery from the list of items to be flashed. Once you complete that step, on the list of all the items on the mobile odin screen - recovery will be blank. If you did do that, then cwm is not the recovery you had before starting this procedure. The link you posted is to a rom that is stock and not rooted. Did you flash it to your tab and then root/install cwm before following my steps?
Always failing. Any other link?
I can add it to dropbox later if you're still having issues...

[MOD][MDC]Disable Increasing Ringtone (modded SecPhone.apk)

Description
The Galaxy S4, like its predecessors and some other devices, has a hardcoded "increasing ring" feature where the ringtone starts out quiet and gradually gets louder, reaching full volume in about 3 or 4 seconds. Some people don't want this (like me).
There are two ways to work around this behavior. First, you can use an app, such as Disable Increasing Ring. The advantage is that you don't need root. The disadvantage is that now you have an app running 24/7, using up memory unnecessarily, albeit a very small amount. The second solution is to patch the SecPhone.apk. That's what this mod does.
Most of the credit goes to gharrington in this post whose method I used to patch SecPhone.apk.
Feel free to use in ROMs, redistribute, etc., but remember to give credit.
Instructions
As with all mods, nandroid backup in case something goes wrong. This mod is provided as-is, use at your own risk, etc.
You can install this one of two ways. The ZIP file can be installed from pretty much any recovery, such as TWRP. It will automatically clear cache/dalvik. Or you can manually copy over the APK with a root file explorer.
Note
I'm using a MDC ROM currently, so I modded the SecPhone.apk that came with MDC. I don't know if that particular apk has changed in later official ROM updates. I can easily perform this mod on newer versions if someone wants to PM me newer SecPhone.apk file in /system/app. I'll try to keep this thread up-to-date as newer updates come down the pipe for as long as I have this device.

It appears as though you can flash the zip in recovery. The .apk is also attached, so you could move that to system/app to replace your existing secphone.apk, set permissions and reboot. Or you could adb push the .apk to the system/app directory and adb reboot. I'm pretty sure any of those methods will work.
Any chance of getting call record enable in your apk?

It just might not work with MDC as I saw others stating basically the same thing with MDC ROMs. You can try the MDN version in that post. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about what's going on behind the scenes, so I don't know how to debug this. It's too bad because call record would be really handy.
Still waiting on ForceROM to update to MDL then I can get to work on the MDL version.
Can you post the file so I can try it? Im on ForceROM running MDL...

[MOD] [NAE] [MK2] [Odex] [DeOdex] Enable Native HotSpot

Ok, following the lead of @crawrj, I have put together the Native HotSpot for the NAE update.
I have also added the MK2 HotSpot mods to this thread. They were buried inside crawrj's original thread, and there still seems to be some demand, so here they are also.
I flashed these using the newest philz recovery (6.15.4), but I think for these, the recovery you use doesn't really matter. Let me know if you have issues.
Not many of you are probably DeOdexed at this point, but both versions are available.
NANDROID backup first please !!! Just because they worked fine for me doesn't mean there might not be problems !!!
IMPORTANT: If you are running a custom rom and the author has made any changes to the services.jar file, this will overwrite them !!! Who knows what kind of issues will pop up. If you are unsure, ask in the thread for the rom you are running.
Here are the links (flashable zips):

I've already deodexed the stock 4.4 ROM. This is one less thing I have to do. Thanks fgr.
Whats happening raw?
Haven't looked in on the stock(ish) thread for awhile. Are they bugging you to death for the NAE Stock(ish)... lol
Did you flash either one of these to see if they work ok?
ps I also have a 4x6, 4x5, 3x4 if you're interested. Debating on whether or not to post it up. Don't really have time to support it.

There's a lot of changes in stock(ish)v06. I took all the launchers I did and threw them in to AROMA.

Did you make a nandroid? If so recover from the recovery mode. Also I believe this is only for the NAE stock rom. Most other custom roms come with the hot spot option so no need to flash the native hot spot . Good luck.

Most custom roms will already have this built in. Also, most custom roms will make some kind of changes to the services.jar, which this will overwrite.
My mistake for not saying that in the OP. I'll get it updated.

I remember others complaining of this before in other threads. Did a quick search for 'HotSpot Menu Missing" and came up with this: Click Here It's from crawrj's original thread.
Check it out, and let us know what happens.
Stock rooted, no recovery (I'm weird like that sometimes), manually replaced the files. Worked but borked my phone, any app that updated or got installed afterwards immediately crashed. Including my root explorers. Used goo and installed twrp. Actually flashed the zip, didn't fix it. Replaced the files with original through twrp, fixed. Flashed the zip again and everything is all fine now. Tried out hotspot at work yesterday.
So I guess the moral of this is screw Knox.

How-to Install:
Root & Install custom recovery: (Only needed if you haven't done this yet)
- Flash CF-Root for your model with Odin
- Make sure you have an custom recovery installed (I advise you to use TWRP) (This trips your KNOX warranty counter!)
Install the ROM
- Make sure you're on an recent Bootloader & Firmware (UVU1AOCG recommended!)
- Copy the ROM zip file to your internal of your Phone
- Do a Data/Factory reset first in your recovery
- Start the installation
- Reboot
- Enjoy the Rom!
I would NOT recommend to restore system apps or app data of your apps with Titanium backup, only the apps themselves.
Restoring App data or System apps can cause problems with the apps. (This applies to any ROM!)

At only 135MB, it looks to be either a ) a bad upload or b) it's still in progress.
The file is 1.5 GB, but did not upload correctly. I will fix it tomorrow.

Dload and flash kernel and SU from Sevens thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/repack-kernel-root-android-6-0-t3232387
After you reboot google play services will start to force close. Itll be annoying but navigate to Settings->General->Apps and find play services and uninstall updates. It should stop after that. At least it did for me
---------- Post added at 01:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 AM ----------
This likely leads into the security FC but trying to access lockscreen options from display also FCs
If u just flash superu it wont reboot, it looks like it wants to but it just hangs on the lg screen.
Also had force reboots by just trying to uninstall apps. I would say this is highly experimental at this point

You have to flash BOTH the kernel and the SU zips. The SU zip only installs the app. The kernel is what actually enables root. And I would use TiBackup to uninstall things atm
Have you successfully got root to work on this port? I could not. Just stuck in bootloop.
Other bug is sd card doesn't read corretly.
Hopefully T-Mobile will have M soon. I really like the feel of it.

my experience so far,
only boots after flashing the rooted kernel, otherwise it gets stuck on the blue led. charging seems to be very very slow - it's estimating 12+ hours to get like 20% or so charge. If i'm not using the phone it appears to be charging at a decent speed so i'll leave it until the morning. Also, trying to uninstall apps causes a soft reboot.

Hello, and thanks for doing this. I can live without Bluetooth no problem, but there are a couple crushing bugs with this build. One being that I cannot uninstall anything (reboots instantly) another is that I cannot access the setting that allows app installation from unknown sources. Or any security setting for that matter. :S
Please advise on possible work arounds.
None at this point. I think we need H811 M bootstack for a full functioning build.
