no browsing or playlists in Play Music app on GWR 5.1.1. (Urbane Ported) - LG G Watch R

I have a G Watch R running 5.1.1 and Urbane ported thanks to leedroid (wifi works great by the way).
The issue is ever since I got the 5.1.1 OTA update and before I did the Urbane port, the Play Music app never updated to the Urbane version. Many sites reviewed the new update on the Urbane as seen below:
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/techno...d-wear-control-music-smartwatch/1/438588.html
I figured OK, I do not have an Urbane so maybe it's updated per device. Well, I wanted WiFi on my watch too so I took matters into my own hands. I followed leedroids Urbane port and everything is working great except I still have the old Play Music app. My phone and watch show it as a full fledged Urbane and I even got the LG Pulse and Urbane specific watch faces during the port.
My question is has anybody got the newest Play Music app to work on the 5.1.1 update??? I really want to be able to browse my library and playlists.

I am having the same issue.
I have looked everywhere for an answer to this as well. I am running the OTA update on my G watch R and have been unable to access this feature. Has anyone found out how to activate it?

i have an all-access subscription which makes me want this working even more.

It only works on 5.1.1 AW devices supported by android phones with Lollipop 5.0+ (API 21) so you must have kitkat on your phone I am guessing

I miss this feature and didn't even have it! I thought the one of the points of keeping OEMs out of the Android Wear was to prevent the fragmentation that plagues phones/tablets. You would think Google would make the app the same for all 5.1.1. users.

Thanks for the info. I am still upset that this requires an "all lollipop" environment. stupid

[Q] Missing apps from 3.1 update? (WiFi)

So, is it just me, or is the 3.1 update for the Wifi version of the Xoom missing Movie Studio and the new Videos app that were being talked about at IO? If somebody has these from the official VZW update, I'd appreciate a pull. Or have they just not launched yet?
Edit: I got it. I had used the earlier fastboot method to update, did another update using BRD's GREAT guide from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609 and I have Video and Movie Studio apps! Thanks BRD!

Setting > privacy > factory data reset
Everything should be ok after this
any way to get this app without doing a factory reset? I did the ota update on my wifi xoom just this morning and didn't get that videos app.
Motorola announced that the new Market for Movies and the Video App will be available to WiFi XOOM owners "in the coming weeks" from Google.
Good thing I am rooted

[Android Wear/SmartWatch2] JJW Watch Face Collection

Hi all,
I've just started developing watch faces for the LG G Watch R and Sony SmartWatch 3 after being a seasoned developer for the Sony SmartWatch 2. They should also work on any other Android Wear watch that's running the latest Lollipop 5.x update. I've published a few on Google Play but unfortunately they're hard to find via the Google Play search - easiest way is to see them via my Facebook page www.facebook.com/JJWwatchfaces or via my direct Google Play link www.julianjwong.com. Note that majority of them are SmartWatch 2 watch faces - you should be able to easily tell the difference from the app icon in Google Play.
Note that you can also find a few of my watch faces on Amazon here.
Hope you enjoy them!

Pandora display on watch

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that basic music controls of Pandora would show on my R watch - cool! But, as of a few days ago it is gone and I can't figure out why and how to get it back. I run CM 12.1 nightlies on my One Plus One with stock kernel. Any ideas? Thanks.
Do the controls appear as a notification on your phone?

Yeah, it's a common refrain with the latest update from Pandora (see the reviews: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pandora.android). I got into it with their support staff last year regarding Wear support - they don't give a rip about it. Also, with the latest update, Pandora hangs on my Galaxy S6. I'm sure there will be an update eventually.
I have the same problem with Spotify: the controls appear on the watch most of the time, but every so often the aren't there.
My Pandora app just did an update today (June 11, 2015) and was hoping it would fix the issue but no joy. My Google Music app displays on my watch but still no Pandora. It will work on Kit Kat roms but does not seem to work when I run LP roms.

Can't install watch faces or Lollipop update

I just got my GWR yesterday and I can't install any watch faces from the google play store nor will it update (came out of the box with 4.4). I had a Gear Live (Samsung's Android Wear watch) that received the OTA 5.1.1 update and I was able to install watch faces. I tested the GWR on 3 different devices and factory resetted it at least 10 times. Same problem each time. All the notification functions work perfectly. I'm able to install Web Browser and Wear Mini Launcher.
I noticed the Android Wear app was updated on August 18. Did Google remove functionality? After I download watch faces from the Google Play store, I don't see an option to change the watch face in the Android Wear app. Are others having the same problem? I attached a screen shot.

You have the same problem as a couple of users in this thread on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-watch-r/help/how-to-update-lg-g-watch-r-t3177653 and this thread ( https://productforums.google.com/fo...er#!msg/android-wear/lCEQwWynNZo/xqsgS_VGAgAJ ) on the Google Product Support forum, myself included (although I am running 4.4W.2).
You currently have 2 choices. Either follow the first thread and update the watch manually or you can wait for a little while longer. I would wait (and will) because I believe the reason why we are still on 4.4 is because LG "closed the doors" for OTA updates and will open it with the latest update that was announced today - http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g-watch-r-will-gain-wi-fi-functionality-thanks-android-wear-update .

New Chromecast even more limited and closed than other android tv

Hello everybody.
For some time now I have the new Chromecast with Google TV and I would like to share my feelings on certain aspects that disappointed me and which scare me for the future of Android TV.
Android TV has always been a more closed system than Android but I have the impression with this new device that it is even more the case and that Google is trying to lock its system even more.
On the new device, if you want to install applications that are not on the play store, you must activate the options for developers, then start again several times to install these applications (it does not necessarily work the first time ).
I also noticed that a lot of Android apps didn't do image rotation or stretching and displayed vertically like a smartphone but with parts of the image cut off. Some Android apps are therefore not even usable now on the new Chromecast. I searched this new Chromecast for a setting that would help me display its Android apps properly but couldn't find anything.
Is there a setting to properly display its applications there? Are these only corrections that will be made in the next updates or is it, as I think, a desire by Google to limit Android TV more and more to Android TV applications?
Thank you for your many responses.
The orientation issue may have something to do with how the Android TV device is identifying itself. That could get fixed in a new release. Haven't dug in enough to know that yet. I haven't had any trouble installing stuff via side loading.
As for being locked down, Android TV certified devices are way more locked down than AOSP or even phones. I wish they'd put the Android TV portions (or even just the casting stack) into AOSP, but that ship has long sailed.

ok so you had no problem with Android applications. I may have had no luck with apps that started badly. Perhaps it is not Google's desire to prevent or complicate the use of applications that are not from the Android TV Play Store.
We will see if other users have this problem.
I too would have loved to have the cast on Android box.
Do you know of an application that allows you to rotate the image like you can find in the Ugoos box system?
From what I can tell, it is just as open** as my Nvidia Shield. Installing sideloaded apps is just as simple. Apps that do not have manual rotation options can be tricky, or those coded to be used in portrait mode only. Other than that, sideloading works identically. PS, you still need something like Sideload Launcher to launch these sideloaded apps.
Android TV/Google TV has always been very limited when it comes to customizability. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that Google assumed, and rightly so that, most consumers just want to plug it in and watch stuff, not mess around with it. Do I agree with that? No, I love making devices do things they weren't designed to, but even I have no reason or motivation to root these devices.
** = Equally as locked down.
Have you tried using a sceen rotation app? I use to use a modded spectrum tv app on fire tv and to fix rotation issue you had to use a screen rotation app.

I feel your pain.
That's Google 2020 for you, get ready for Google 2021 and 2022
I am thinking of replacing a fire tv stick 4k with the new Chromecast, hoping to gain bitstreaming audio from 3d party apps. It won't work for me on the amazon device.
I want to continue using wolf launcher and some sideloaded apps, which are not all available on the play store.
How much of free storage is available on the Cromecast?
Hey folks
I bought a Chromecast with Google TV and I am experiencing this same issue. I am trying to use an app which I know it wasn't developed for this device, but I know it works because have it installed on an Android TV. The difference is that on Google TV it opens as portrait and sits in the middle of the screen, where in the Android TV it expands and takes the whole screen. Same thing happens, for example, with Instagram. I've tried a dozen of apps that supposedly force the orientation, but it never worked.
Is there anything that can be done or am I am chasing ghosts?
(p.s. is it worth to post this as a new thread?)
